Seems rootkey is a standalone application rather than integrated with the Qt wallet.

er....a little disappointed.

For me, two problems:
1. It's rediculous that sync from network does not work, I must download the database separately
2. The memory consumption issue is not acceptable. You can't blame node-webkit, because for me it's run in a headless linux server, no node-webket is involved.
and we can see that the memory consumption grows along with block loading. So the only reason is the horrible memory manament of crypti.

1) The snapshot downloading is only done to speed-up the synchronization.
You can erase the file blockchain.db from your directory and restart Crypti Wallet, and it will retrieve the full blockchain from the other nodes from scratch.

It's quite similar to how today BTC blockchain is being distributed via torrents.

2) We are aware of this issue and will improve the RAM usage it in the next versions.

For #1, I am not the only one met the scenario as you can see from the previous posts.

I DID remove the blockchain.db before I try to start the node again, but every time it stuck at the same block.
For me and the other one who met the issue, snapshot downloading is the only solution instead of just an approach to accelerating the sync process.

What a shame Roll Eyes

You guys do not want to listen to me, you have not solved the problem with memory
5000 Bitcoins, Litoshi for you all is well. When in fact the problem is not solved
If the memory problem is not resolved, the project can be considered a failure

All is well. All you do is bash Crypti and hail Node in all your posts.

I obviously don't share the same values as you do (bashing other coins thinking my coin is gonna become better because of that)
I rather contribute to what I believe to be superior technology to help it grow instead of trolling other threads.

I think that's why people don't listen to you

I support Crypti and have more than 200 000 coins, but for some reason you do not want to solve the fundamental problem. It's important now

2. The memory consumption issue is not acceptable. You can't blame node-webkit, because for me it's run in a headless linux server, no node-webket is involved.

Can't sync blocks, stuck at some point even if I deleted blockchain.db and resync.

The latest block I got is shown as following:

Ok I know this sounds like a little pain.. but it shouldn't be to bad... first delete your blockchain.db file... then re-install the wallet... this will first uninstall and then download the blockchain.db and then install the wallet... it is important you delete your blockchain.db file before clicking the installer a second time... bc if it see a blockchain file already there is will not DL the blockchain file... I hope this makes sense I will be home in a few hours to hammer out these little issues you may be seeing...

I am using a linux server, so I just kill the node process, delete the blockchain db, and then start the node again.
Still the same result.
Oh hey I run 2 linux servers and I had to take the downloaded blockchain from the windows install, copy it over, then start it. I had same issue as you on my linux nodes. They would stop only after downloading like 23mb. All good now after I copied the downloaded blockchain from my win box.

Can you share me a copy of the blockchain?

Thanks, it works!

But.....the process will be killed when loading around 6000-8000 of total 33950 blocks.
it consume too much memory in my 512MB RAM virtual machine.

Zzyz........ Did your XCR get transferred from Bter yet?

Still an issue with bter. I transferred earlier and shows successful with tx ID but I can't even find on block explorer. I put in a ticket myself.

Me too, I can't see the withdrawed coin in wallet.crypti.me.
Of cause I can't see it the my own node either because of the block sync issue.

Seems forked again......bter and the official wallet are on the different fork.

Maybe it's my time to dump my 2M coins when next time the price is up.
I lost my confidence on the team.

So many months passed, the basic wallet still does not work.

Okay do it. As I've said this is similar to a Windows beta. Everything isn't going to be perfect in the beginning.. Talk is cheap, dump your coins if you're not happy... We don't need threats of you dumping your coins..

Why consider my words a threat? Curious.......
I just express my real feelings.

Actually I am a strong hand, accumulating including and after IPO.
But, to be honest, it's hard to accept that basic working wallet still does not work 3 months later after the first release.

Hope all will be well and I can change my mind later even when the price is up next time.

Sincerely i would never have invested in the project knowing that you guys have full time jobs ( as most of crypto developers ) but at least that explains a lot of things.
I know it is my fault to make suppositions, that is the game and surely that is the reason risk/reward is so high; but the image you sold to investors is that the team is capable of producing corporate quality code and to bring top management skills to the table, you failed to deliver that.

+10000000
Exactly what I want to say.

Even your developers can't take risk to quit your day job before the IPO, you still can do that after the IPO,
the raised $750K can already compensate you well.
If you considering syscoin as a startup, you should not be too greedy for the early return.

It's highly unacceptable that you took $750K, but just work on it for part time.
That's the whole reason why the development pace is so slow, and it also hurt the price deadly.

@bitsa, can you explain why you announce the roadmap near 26th, Sept, which is expected to release rootkey beta?

If 10 days later you still can't release rootkey, you should not announce the roadmap just 3 days before 26th, Sept.

Did you mean to manipulate the market?

Even the temporary remedy is still not finished yet over a week,
and the network is still down without any expectation to an end.
Totally unacceptable.

Serious business can't rely on such a rediculous behavior.
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: October 05, 2014, 12:23:51 AM
Side Note:
We got a reply back from blockexperts regarding the state of the Syscoin block explorer hosted by them. They had to perform a one-time system maintenance and will be back up ASAP.

We host our block explorer through a third party for the sake of transparency and fairness but we will explore a secondary provider until our custom explorer is up which can act as another data provider.

Still working on 0.1.5 RC3, I don't want to make any official announcement right now as most the core team is on PST- there is still an issue we're working on related to transferred aliases before we can make an official statement on the RC3 release timeline. In ligher news we fixed a bunch of other stuff (in parallel) while working on this issue and 0.1.5 now includes labels for all transactions- including certs, offers, and data!  Grin

Will continue to keep thread posted.

Don't organize development like that.

You should isolate features for 0.1.5 from the new ones of "labels for all transactions- including certs, offers, and data!", and release a bug free 0.1.5 version to end users.

the new features of "labels for all transactions- including certs, offers, and data!" should be in a separate branch, which can be called 0.1.5a and expected to be released later.

Keeping add new features to existing version but letting the users wait too long to get a working version is quite unprofessional.

hi  holder for 3 weeks here. if it isnt up and running at sunday i don't see a reason to hold anymore. not taking another broken promise.. fed up
cya,

I will give you several reasons to hold:

1) Crypti will soon be priced in the 3000-5000 satoshi range.  This is a long term investment, not a 4 week get-rich coin

2) Crypti will be introducing features that are designed for commerce,  and that address the short comings of Bitcoin, such as in-wallet escrow, 24hour callback of transactions; verified merchants (no anonymous transactions), one minute block times for speedy transactions, and finally transaction fee sharing by merchants.

3) The devs are more interested in producing a first class product with a bright future than they are concerned with making money for the quick-buck crowd.  Example: it only takes 1000XCR to run a node and earn transaction fees from forging.  All nodes are equal.
Having 10,000,000XCR in the wallet will not generate more forges.  There is no need to accumulate coins in massive amounts to have a greater chance at forging (as in NXT).

4) There are lots of buyers for your coins.

I will give you only one reasons to sold: the developers are not comptent concluded by the following aspects:
(1) PoT is designed badly without essential background knowledge. So we now see a lot of scalablity problems, including time/traffic as well as block chain bloating
(2) Programming skills. Several months passed without deliever any new features.
(3) Not willing to recruit more highly skilled developers to compansate the current situation, because they don't want to take meney out of the collected 750BTC from their pocket.

Is it enough?

That's why the prices went down gradually.

The visioin has never been a problem, and in fact it's the only factor to hold the coins.
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti | XCR | Ͼ | 3 PoS algorithms | Ed25519 | 2nd Gen Source on: October 01, 2014, 11:07:31 PM
Okay so now where is the temporary fix? I'm sorry guys, but we've kept on hearing that bug fixes are around the corner, and there's been nothing to show for it.

We literally can't trust your word anymore, for example just 3 days ago SyRenity, said that you guys found and isolated the problem and that once it passed testing you would release 0.1.7 which fixed the PoT bug along with the Windows Wallet. Then today BitSeed informed us that for some reason a temporary fix to the PoT will be released "soon", with a permanent solution and Windows Wallet to be released "two weeks from now". Which one is it?

Now if you look at things from a bigger perspective, what about the Custom Blockchains, which were originally due out at the beginning of September? Is it coming out soon, is it "around the corner" as has been said many times? With the slow progress that has been made, I honestly don't even think that we'll see Custom Blockchains this year. As it is the Windows Wallet now will only be coming out late October.

What's more in the midst of all this chaos, you guys are spending time choosing a new logo? I know how hypocritical that sounds, when I was the one heavily criticizing your teams lackadaisical approach to design, but considering the quality of the designs put forward, Crypti is far better off staying with its current design. How about forgetting about the design aspect for a while, believe me the new designs would do more harm than good, and just focus on actually delivering on some of your releases, like the Windows Wallet or Custom Blockchains. Once you've delivered that, then talk about design again. There isn't anything wrong with Crypti's current design and some of the designs put forward just look downright terrible.

The network has been down for close to a week now, and what is worrisome is that it was treated like no big deal for the first few days. The team's communication has been appalling throughout this whole process. We shouldn't have to ask you for more information or for an update, it is your job to provide us with adequate information so that we can get a grasp on the situation.

And I know exactly how responses to this post will sound. "Crypti is new technology, there will always be unforseen bugs...", "We can't guarantee anything on release times due to the nature of these things..." etc, etc. The time deadlines aren't what we are complaining about, it's the way that you've communicated with your community, or failed to do so throughout this whole situation that is the problem. As you can see, there was a massive dump on BTER. The thing is people haven't lost faith in the network, they've lost faith in your teams' ability to deliver.

Exactly.

our dearest dev, where are you?

still believe that you have the ability to finish the reduced blockchain.
but if you need some help for the NUD projects ,why not ask the community?

for the moment, do you know or care the NUD market is in danger of de-listing?

(guys,please join our qq group:389091502.)

I am following the thread closely, discussing investments with my partners. I will not invest into the project further myself, I have a family to care for and would rather put that money to other use, which is reasonable given the fact that I have already gave thousands of dollars and plenty of my free time which comes at a high price these days.

Unless at least 4 BTC is raised via donations (highly unlikely) or one of the partners changes his mind this will be a long ride.

Kidnaping again after the post mining.
WTF!
Even I have already invested over 10BTC on this coin, I still wish it to die.

The point is that you have no confidence on it by yourself.
Or you just need to keep developing, and then the raised NUD price would give you profit much more than even hundreds times bigger than 4BTC with the post mined coins.

Outer investers? Who needs them?
You just keep developing, and then you got profit by the already post mined coins if you really care about money.

You have no confidence, and then you beg for 4btc with no guaranteed reward to the givers,
especially considering your poor performance in the last several months,
no developing, no showing up, no response to emergency.
Who can throw 4btc to poor beggers like you?

Your performance told all.

I will answer your question and hopefully you (or your team) will answer mine.
I was livid when dan mentioned that they were having minor issues with the wallet release. Not because I invested over 2M but because this is a very minor release. Aliases and the visual UI of aliases was already in the initial syscoin wallet release back in August. It was pulled back in August because they were having issues back then. Now fast forward to this latest release and you still had issues on the day you were to release! I don't know if they were the same issues as back in August and I really don't care. The point is you still had bugs. And then dan decided to come up with the RC post (which seemed like he made up as he went along) .So, that really pissed me off. Then of course you kept deleting my posts, which set me off even more. Then finally what really did it is that hardly anyone on here voiced their displeasure. They were acting like pussies by defending you when they should have been just as concerned!
...

I think there is bit of a misunderstanding here. I'll let coderboo/Dan reply to most of it but just want to clear something up

This is in no way a "very minor" release. There are tons of minor bug fixes, enhancements etc. This includes a brand new feature which is sendtoalias (more on that one in later posts).
There will ALWAYS be minor issues and bugs in software development. That is the nature of software. No complex software are without bugs.

And the reason we deleted a lot of your posts were that you were abusive, double posting and spreading blatant lies. Its really as simple as that and that we will not accept in our thread.
Constructive criticism is welcome, and we are always open to suggestions but when the language comes across as very abusive - what type of response do you expect

Where is the "send to alias" feature of the GUI?

You can send to an alias just like a syscoin address in the send coins page.

Thanks, it works great.

Obviously the alias is indexed locally,
So, the question is::::::::::WHY::::::::::we need to unlock the wallet for searching???

Development Update

Syscoin v0.1.5 RC2/Public Beta 2 is now available! We only have the mac build now and will have the windows build up shortly at which point we'll post the news more officially. Just wanted to give people a heads up that we're taking the feedback from the RC program seriously!  Smiley

Feedback:
1. if the wallet is already unlocked, don't prompt for password.
now if I want to register several alias, I must input password multiple times,
Is it just because the lock period is short intended for one time action?
2. for alias search, no need to unlock wallet, because no private key involved.
Also, as I remember in RC1, it works fine without unlock.
