541  Economy / Economics / Re: Mastercard Patent for Speeding Up Crypto Payments on: July 24, 2018, 05:08:58 PM
So what will be the difference between a normal crypto exchange like Coinbase and the MasterCard patented fiat/crypto hybrid account? There are financial firms like Revolut that offer crypto and fiat wallets built into a single app so what advantage could the MasterCard service possible have over pre-existing solutions?
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 24, 2018, 02:54:54 PM
Did Roma already have a jersey made for him too?  Lmao.  Cheesy

Anyway, that sucks for Roma.  And of all the clubs that Willian could possibly go to, I hope it's Man United.  He's pretty good under Mou and United would be better with him around.  I wanna see a close season this year.

Haha hopefully they didn't  Grin This reminds me of how some sports apparel shops in Turin made CR7 Juventus jerseys ahead of time when the deal was still up in the air. I wonder what were they going to do with all these jerseys if Ronaldo hadn't signed up with Juventus  Roll Eyes Give them away to fans for free lol?
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's influence Elon Musk to accept BTC for Tesla! 🔥 on: July 24, 2018, 12:03:16 PM
Does anyone have any other idč on how to reach Elon? Maybe tag some ppls that he usually spends time with that doesn't get 2000000 tweets a day. tagged his GF but she is also famous, so hard to reach out that way as well.

You can try messaging him on Facebook or Instagram also. I don't know if he has disabled receiving messages from strangers though, but I guess it's worth a try. Additionally you could write a message via the contact form on the Tesla website and hopefully someone from the press staff there will forward your message to Elon Musk. I think he is well aware of Bitcoin already and probably doesn't need any convincing.
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BMW now accepts Bitcoin as a payment! on: July 24, 2018, 09:46:12 AM
A small dealership in the UK selling BMW cars started accepting Bitcoin as payment. It's completely their initiative and probably the people at BMW headquarters don't know about this. And the dealership is using the payment processor BitPay so they are very likely not holding any Bitcoins themselves as it's too much of a liability. Just putting this out here so the readers don't get easily misinformed.
545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 24, 2018, 09:05:03 AM
Yes that's true and that's why you shouldn't bet a lot on these unpredictable matches. But you can still have fun with $1 bets, can't you? We are not necessarily chasing profits here. We are just having some fun before the real football starts again in the big leagues. By the way if you bet on the underdogs you could walk away with some nice beer fund money lol. For example Borussia were priced at almost 5.00 odds to beat Liverpool the other day pre-game and they went on to win 3-1 being 1 goal down at half-time. If you had bet Dortmund live you would have gotten like 10 odds or more and that's $10 profit from your $1. That doesn't happen very often in the serious league matches. Just saying  Wink

547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 23, 2018, 03:42:48 PM
^  He should, I mean after a performance like that in the final of the most prestigious tourney in club football.  It must have been a traumatic experience that will haunt him wherever he goes and at what club.

Tho Klopp claims Karius had a concussion or something...  Dunno how true that is.  Lol.

I think he underwent a thorough examination at a Boston hospital and was diagnosed with concussion. This begs the question of why he wasn't substituted during the CL final if he really had a condition. Karius could have informed Klopp he wasn't feeling well or something. I don't know what to believe as this sounds like a very cheap excuse for his blunders.
548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 23, 2018, 01:03:09 PM
I think the most important signing is Alisson though, as we saw in Kiev you can’t win anything with a crap goalkeeper.
Do you know what's gonna happen with Karius? I read some rumours about him going to some low-tier english club but I don't remember the name. Some other rumours say that Bayern Munich are interested in Karius (I think this BS lol )

Did you read the Don Balon article by any chance? Reportedly Bayern Munich are willing to pay 12 million euros for Loris Karius and Niko Kovac allegedly approves of the goalkeeper so maybe Karius could reignite his career in Germany? Well he is still an elite league goalkeeper isn't he? I think he would be better off leaving the Premier League for now and getting comfortable again somewhere else. What's a better place than his home country?

He shouldn't go to a top club, especially a club like Bayern, where pressure is high as Bayern Munich main objetive is to win the treble at the end of the season. Psychologically, I don't think it'll be good for him, he should go to a mid-table team where he can feel valued again, and Germany like you said could be the best environment for him right now.

Yes there is no doubt that Liverpool has one of the craziest and best squad available
Hmm, no, they don't have such squad.

Have you seen what Karius posted on Instagram after yesterday's match vs Borussia Dortmund?

Quote
To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you.
Whatever it is that's happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you.

Obviously the guy is very rattled and can't handle the pressure and the haters in Liverpool any more so maybe the right decision is to move to a new club as fast as possible. Even if Klopp wishes to keep him I think the right thing for both Karius and the club is to let him go somewhere else.
549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 23, 2018, 10:19:20 AM
Okay so apparently Karius is on for Liverpool tonight haha  Grin I am wondering if he has picked himself up already and how determined he is to show his best again after the blunders. Maybe he won't concede any goals today?

I mean, he didn't concede any, but he certainly didn't do himself any favors. His confidence has obviously taken a big hit, and that won't be helped by Liverpool breaking the transfer record for a goalkeeper.

I can't see him getting many minutes this season.

Actually he did concede 3, because the match ended 1-3 for Borussia Dortmund. I couldn't watch it yesterday due to being busy, but I was checking the Flashscore app at half time and Karius was shown as being substituted so I thought he did well. However that must have been an erroneous update by Flashscore. And today when reading the sports news I saw to my great surprise that Karius had made more mistakes in yesterday's match and was solely responsible for the 3rd goal. The fans weren't happy either and Karius had to sent a message to his critics on Instagram. That guy can't catch a break Shocked
550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 22, 2018, 07:50:43 PM
The starting lineups are available now:

Liverpool: Karius, Clyne, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Lallana, Fabinho, Jones, Camacho, Origi, Markovic
Dortmund: Hitz, Dieckmann, Zagadou, Diallo, Toljan, Sahin, Wolf, Dahoud, Boadu, Sancho, Philipp

Okay so apparently Karius is on for Liverpool tonight haha  Grin I am wondering if he has picked himself up already and how determined he is to show his best again after the blunders. Maybe he won't concede any goals today? Goetze and Reus in the substitutes for Dortmund though. It's not like Dortmund are missing firepower in the match, hmm interesting   Smiley

What about software wallets? If you have an old notebook collecting dust you could repurpose it and use it as a hack-proof offline wallet. You don't need to splash the cash on these hardware wallets when there are free alternatives like BitKey which is a secure live Linux distro that can run from a USB stick or a CD and provides security similar to hardware wallets. Hardware wallets are more convenient though, because they offer a complete package that needs minimal configuration by the end user and are portable, but they are not the be-all and end-all of crypto wallets.
553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 22, 2018, 10:37:20 AM
Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka are of Albanian descent, but they have chosen to represent the national football team of Switzerland. What they did in that match was very unethical for the Swiss fans who travelled to Russia to support their team. I think the Swiss football association should decide what to do with those 2 and whether or not they should be allowed to play for Switzerland on international level. I wouldn't go as far as to say the gestures ware racist though, nationalist signs of the Albanian flag they are fond of more likely.

They were nationalist signs. But their usage during the match against Serbia can open the Pandora's box. These signs were extensively used by the KLA of Kosovo, and this organization is accused of murdering thousands of Serbs during the 1990s. Will the reaction be the same if the Croat players use the Ustaše signs or if the Serbs use the Chetnik signs?

I don't know what to tell you, mate. I am not very much into politics and I don't know what any of these signs mean or what the geopolitical climate of the Balkans is, but I can say with certainty that there is no place in sport for politics and people should leave their grudges at home.
I don't condone such provocative behavior and I think the Swiss football association should deal with the offenders as they see fit. I am not sure if a player could be banned from playing by FIFA for such an offense though. They could be banished from the national football team.
554  Other / Off-topic / Re: Most unemployed graduates shy to start a small trade. on: July 22, 2018, 06:00:36 AM
Well if you ask me there are no shameful jobs and as long as you are earning your wages in an honest and respectable way no one is going to judge you on what you do for a living. So many successful people have started small and have changed a lot of different jobs before they found their true calling in life and became very good in their work. Some have no real university degrees and yet they can be highly valued specialists and get a nice paycheck while other graduates can't hold a position for long because they suck in their field. I think all the fresh graduates should join the workforce as soon as possible and if they want a better position elsewhere later on they could keep searching  for it in the meantime while still getting paid.
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samsung Stores in Three Baltic States Accepting Cryptocurrencies on: July 22, 2018, 05:30:15 AM
This thing right here, is far more significant than the "BMW" accepting bitcoin news is. This is actually Samsung. Not some random dealer. Wonder why they started in these Baltic states though, probably testing things out first before going full-scale with bitcoin payments hopefully sometime in the future.

Though I really don't know why they even accepted Steem though. Steem isn't even made for merchant payments(though you could say the same for ETH).

It is said in the article that there is no regulatory policy for cryptocurrencies in the Baltic States or it's minimal. Maybe that's why Samsung decided to dabble in crypto as they will probably pay no taxes via the Coppay payment processor who handles their customers' crypto purchases. I am not an expert though so don't quote me on that. Samsung are quite the profit-driven company and it would make sense for them to test the waters in an unregulated market with zero bureaucratic obstacles first.
556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 21, 2018, 08:34:19 PM
And we got the first over 2.5 goals match of the tournament yay!  Cheesy Betting on goals can be very tricky in these tournament games, because the managers are experimenting with the first squad and usually give rarely used players a chance to play so you never know what they will come up with before the kick-off. I couldn't watch the match today and now saw that Buffon started for PSG and was substituted in the 2nd half after Bayern scored the equalizer. Has anyone watched the match? How did Buffon perform? He is one of my favorite goalkeepers  Cheesy

Tomorrow's game is Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund. I am not sure what to bet here - the odds for over 2.5 goals are 1.65 while both teams to score is priced at 1.55. I will wait for the starting lineups to be available first before doing anything.
557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 21, 2018, 04:25:00 PM
Maybe VAR refs should just tell the ref what to do and skip the bit where he runs off for 10 minutes to watch a tiny screen.

Even the VAR decisions turned out to be the wrong ones. The best example was of the penalty kick for Serbia, which was turned down by the VAR ref (Mitrovic kicked down inside the penalty box).

You are referring to that notorious Switzerland - Serbia match, right? The German referee Felix Brych was sanctioned and excluded from refereeing any more World Cup games by the way. The Serbian football federation made a complaint to FIFA after the match about the controversial penalty.
I don't think the VAR referees can tell the main referee what to do. They can only advise him on the situations, but they can't influence his decision. The main referee could refuse to watch the replays altogether as it happened in a couple of matches in Russia.

OK.. The referee was sanctioned and excluded. But that could do little to quell the sense of anger among the Serbs. They still feel that the match was stolen from them. On top of that, previously Serbian teams such as Partizan Belgrade were sanctioned for displaying Serb symbols. But when Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka openly displayed racist Albanian gestures, they were let off without any match ban by the FIFA.

I read the whole article and it is a very thrilling piece to say the least. The point where you got into an Uber and sold your phone for a fraction of its initial price was so hardcore haha. I wouldn't have gone to such great lengths to collect some additional money for gambling. I would have admitted defeat, called it a night and have gone back to the hotel. I guess sometimes Lady Luck will help you out of a hard situation if you show some reckless perseverance despite the odds  Wink
