1121  Other / Meta / Re: Should their be a charity/panhandling board on: April 25, 2013, 01:56:54 AM
We have one already. It's known as the Trashcan board. Seriously, I delete all begging threads especially if it's in the newbie subsection. We get an average of 1 per day.

^^ this

Begging adds nothing, I remove addresses or posts if I see it

I'd suggest PMing theymos, he has access to the IP logs.
1123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie board.. really? Butterfly labs 50Gh/s on: April 24, 2013, 08:59:49 PM
I was reading something about 50BTC having close to 50% or more of mining power? I'm going to make a special note NOT to choose them.

BTCGuild is much closer, check out http://blockchain.info/pools

Ahh there you go. I had the name wrong. Correct me if i'm wrong but we wouldn't want to join a mining pool with too low a hash-rate correct? Then coin discovery becomes less likely? Or more of mere luck over time?

Over a long enough period of time it doesn't matter, but it's nice to be part of a decent sized pool so you get consistent payouts.
1124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling 5k FeatherCoin - Taking LTC or BTC on: April 24, 2013, 08:43:03 PM
I get home in one hour to compile the irrefutable proof you scammed me and well post it everywhere. You know damn well I sent you 60 ltc and you (accidentally) sent me 3fc... I just want what I bought, nothing more.

Don't post it everywhere, post it in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Has anyone seen an Avalon miner in action? I was thinking about going in on one of the ASIC chip group buys and making my own!

Are you an electrical engineer, or do you know some?  It's not going to be easy to make your own miner.  I know there's someone doing the PCB part of it with chips people buy, but I don't know too much.

@OP

Mining speculation is a subforum you should check out.  Also I'm going to whitelist you so you can post outside newbie jail... hooray for intelligent posts!

1130  Other / Meta / Re: Where do you read PMs you sent in this Forum? on: April 24, 2013, 03:10:11 PM
Sent PMs are not saved by default, to change that:
Go to 'Profile'
Click 'Personal Message Options' (left side)
Check the box that says 'Save a copy of each Personal Message in my outbox by default.'
Click 'Change Profile'
It will save messages in your outbox after you send them from now on.

From my newbie post
1131  Other / Meta / Re: Jobs Board on: April 24, 2013, 01:46:11 PM
Proposal to open a new jobs and employment section on this forum. There are other ways to earn bitcoin than mining even if its mowing a lawn Tongue

Are there enough different posts in the services subforum to merit that?  Seems like that board covers job stuff already
1132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Presidential candidate will only accept Bitcoin as contribution on: April 24, 2013, 01:37:51 PM

Well that just seems like a stupid idea, and I'm pretty sure the FEC will be involved anyways.

EDIT:

Damn you Maged!

Beat me to it!
1134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Search is throttled for newbies? on: April 24, 2013, 02:32:04 AM
It does scale with account level, but I'm not sure exactly how.
1135  Economy / Services / Re: BFL ASIC-750GHs Shares to Sell(1,500GH Miner) on: April 23, 2013, 11:39:09 PM
I'm interested in maybe buying all of your shares. But how can I trust you?

Will there be sign-up queue or something?

<<Safety>>

The Mod "tysat" has my ID and saw my orders in BFL.

I do not have complete ID verification...

I've seen a scan of a passport with something written next to it, and an order that matches the name on the passport.  I've yet to see a picture of OP holding the passport with what I requested written on paper as well.  So just be careful, I'm not positive OP is who he says he is yet.
1136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Zero in wallet. noob! on: April 23, 2013, 11:34:37 PM
But if one wants to beg for it, why not let him do so? It does not hurt anyone and there is no guarantee he will be successful.

If one person is allowed to beg, everyone is allowed to beg, forum gets filled with crap.  Nothing is added by begging, it's just clutter in the way of real discussion... like about why begging is bad.
1137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which site accepts mastercard gift cards, so I can buy bitcoins? on: April 23, 2013, 04:35:15 PM
I'm not sure of a website that does, but you could try the currency exchange sub-forum.  You won't be able to post there yet as you're still a newbie, but you could PM someone who's selling bitcoins for gift cards.
1138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Delected posts on: April 23, 2013, 04:32:50 PM
It may have been a spammy message, that's what the report on your post implies.
1139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying a Small Country to Make Bitcoin an Official Currency on: April 23, 2013, 03:01:15 PM
What do you say?

What about creating our own country?

That's going to be a lot harder than getting a small country to switch to bitcoin.
1140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying a Small Country to Make Bitcoin an Official Currency on: April 23, 2013, 01:26:34 PM
Not a bad idea.  If you truly believe then you should do some more research to get the plan going.
