481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: May 14, 2017, 05:32:33 PM
is there anything to do if the blockchain gets corrupted (doesn't accept any new blocks and gets stuck for hours on a block) beside do a -rescan ?
You could ask someone pass you a bootstrap

Community BLK guru blackstat has come to your rescue:
https://www.reddit.com/r/blackcoin/comments/6b3imq/blackcoin_bootstrapdat_up_to_block_1631800/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=hot&utm_source=reddit&utm_name=blackcoin

Already synced overnight but thanks for the link, should be put into the OP if possible, since this corruption happens quite easily.

I'm staking pivx and blackcoin on the same PC, had a few crashes this week (power outage/overclocking) and every time the pivx database corrupts, with the new wallet at least it's rebuilding the index but it takes a very long time. I'm not a coder but staking is taken from blackcoin, how comes that blockchain never corrupts and pivx does every time ? Can something be done to have a periodic "backup" so it doesn't need to reindex from the first block every time ?

Try using the newest version of the wallet v2.2.1 https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX/releases/tag/v2.2.1

That's what I said, with the new wallet at least it's rebuilding the index but still it corrupts at a crash and rebuilds from block #1

How I missed this coin?

It was pretty popular before and during the ICO, not much since in here, communication has moved to their slack.
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Blockchain powered immutable cloud computer on: May 12, 2017, 09:05:41 AM
I'm trying to sync up expanse with parity --chain=expanse --warp but at block #600,002 it got stuck, http://imgur.com/a/u4etV , after a few restarts, it went up to #604,163 but that's it, and it keeps giving this stage 1 block verification fail. 0/1/25 peers. Will delete and start without --warp. Are there no parity nodes is that the problem?

EDIT:
Now without --warp it's stuck on #154397, 0/5/25 peers. It's weird, does anyone here use parity for exp or only geth works ?

I let it sync overnight and it's stuck at #604,165. Can someone help me with this parity sync ?

EDIT: mist syncs fast, I guess parity is not ready yet for this coin.

How do you calculate estimated staking reward and time to generate reward for n amount of coins ?

I answer you, I hope you will help someone else (as this question is quite recurring) :

http://www.cryptonode.co/

This link should be put in the OP if it's asked a lot, I didn't find any info about staking rewards, only about the masternodes.

BTW, if the calculator says 4days to reward and I stake for 3days without reward then I restart the PC, open and unlock the wallet again, will I have to wait 1day or 4day ? (I know these numbers are averages but the staking itself is picked by random or it is measured, who stakes for how long and who is next in row to get a reward ?)

you can input the numbers of coins you have and it will give you an approximate time until you get a stake.

You have to keep the wallet open as staking rewards is based on time X number of coins, which gives a value. the higher the closer you are to get a stake. However if you close the wallet, the time value restart. As such you have to keep it open all the time, and btw it's what secure the network.

I hope it helped. happy staking.

I see, so there is no luck in staking, it's time staking * number of coins you own and once you get a reward you get back to the bottom of the list. Thanks

This does not look like a top 30 project... Why is it in the top 30?

Not trying to FUD, read a bunch and IMO there's a lot better coins.
That said, I'm all about diversifying my portfolio, so someone with insight, please share.

What does a top30 project look like ? Did you read the whitepaper of this project, do you understand what it's trying to do ? or you only see the lack of useless spam in this thread like all the other coins have usually about pumps and dumps and HODL ? It is your money, if you want to find out stuff, well, starting reading and if still you don't understand, try slack, that's where people talk.

I like you. Very aggressive-passive.
I have read... I've also read everything on over 500 other currencies... I could see top 100 (not bashing or trying to FUD, it's just VERY new and hardly talked about).
Top 30 strikes me as market manipulation, hence why I'm asking.

So if you read the whitepaper and you understand this project wants to compete with netflix in the future, has 10+ secret modules (the fact they are keeping it a secret I both like it and dislike it but you can see the point in them) and they are coming out with their own serial for launch of the platform..and you think this doesn't have enough merit to beat dogecoin ? You're problem is that they don't talk about it now, well, when they will talk about it in the TV, you will only regret your actions Smiley oh btw, about market manipulation, ripple, the scam that it is, went from 200M$ marketcap to 4B$, 20x increase in less than 2 months, that is not manipulated right ? Cheesy everything is pumped insanely, just watch the top100 coins, singulardtv is not one of the pumped ones, it's priced 3x of ICO and it was october ? or look at the scam that is gnosis, top15. If you read everything on over 500 currencies, you would know better.

my DB got corrupted and in the end the error disappeared and the client didn't load at all, it stopped right after loading wallet, simply exited without any error, now I'm syncing from scratch again but it's pretty slow, is there any official bootstrap ? if so, link it please

Was in the same boat. Built v2.2.1.0 from source, and it started and repaired the DB. Finally stable and staking. You should upgrade if you haven't. Binaries are now posted:
https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX/releases

I downloaded the binary as soon as they became available and it fixed the problem.

can we get a new feature to convert the wallet from full to light or light to full ? If not, then a guide for the safest way of converting.

the price fluctuating too much. What is the reason ?

there's not much volume/buying power, only 40BTC to 5000sat right now, once the token gets on more popular with new exchanges and modules coming out, it will stabilize.

What can I expect from the
MSI Radeon RX 570 GAMING X

getting 22 from my RX470 Gaming X

You can expect a month long wait while you RMA their defective crap. I'm betting eventually they just hand me back the garbage cards and tell me to eat it.
What cards are you recommending - sub $200 with 22+ hashrate

Buyer beware with MSI, my Gigabyte RX card is working perfectly.

I heard r9 390 MSI cards OC the best and have the highest hashrate/stability, the RX series MSI suck ? About gigabyte, I bought 3years ago 3x r9 280x gigabyte and 5x asus dc2t, all of the gigabyte still run, after almost 24/7 3 years and 4 of the asus died within a year, all had fan failures withing 6months but 1 simply can't display anything, crashes during driver load. So in my opinion, gigabyte is pretty good, it's usually the cheapest card and maybe I've been lucky but they are quite durable, right now they are on zec mining with 380hour+ uptime. All I know, avoid asus, it's pretty easy now that they are priced the highest tho Cheesy

do not Pump byteball too hard..we are still at early age.

who do you think "pumps" it now ? these are long term holders who want to get in before it reaches parity with btc.

its not going to drop below 86k.
everything <86 absolutely unreasonable price for this coin

it's crypto .. everything is possible Cheesy

In the contrary, I think there will be a price correction to burst the bubble very soon. The price is overvalued, it is not worth so much because it is simple Dash clone.

yeah simple dash clone but better than dash .. so why shouldn't it at least be 10% of the dash price then? which would be around 5$

Copy pivx source code and add one new feature, should it have 50mil$ market cap instantly? no.. the same way a btc clone won't have 2billion$ market cap just because it's the same with one improvement in it, if this was true, we'd have hundred of billion$ coins Cheesy I'm still amazed how high pivx is prized, when you look at the 3month graph it's still insanely overpriced, it's 40x more expensive than 2-3months ago..that's obviously not a justifiable increase.

I'm also up for a dev fund, it's a win win for everyone, just make a public spreadsheet of the expenses.
