321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: February 19, 2024, 05:49:27 PM
(...) Fury might lose his belts soon but it seems Saudi was wanting Francis to fight the winner of Fury/Usyk so the belt could be on the line then, though I don't think it should be right now.

If Ngannou was to beat AJ, then I wouldn't mind him fighting with a winner of Fury Vs Usyk. Sure, it will probably be a record speed to become an undisputed champion in only 3 fights, and giving a novice such a chance sounds like a joke at first. But not giving him such an opportunity, after almost beating Tyson in his very first boxing fight and after defeating Tony, would make the whole sport look bad.
It's not a good look when a newcomer manhandles all the top stars and boxing organisations pretending nothing is happening making him build his record from scratch. Given his age, he would never be able to get a title fight the "normal" way.
AJ fight will confirm if Ngannou belongs in the top 10 or was his first fight just a fluke.

I've read that he's been sick again (...)

Where did you read this exactly?
Sometimes it looks like every time LL disappears with no explanation people would come up with all kinds of theories/speculations regarding his absence, but rarely anything is based on any solid source.

If that's true, I feel sorry for him and wish him speedy recovery, but his not the only person involved in running the site, and there's always a way to at least keep people updated on what's going on etc.
323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 19, 2024, 08:23:25 AM
The UFC 300 fight card is out and what a card it is! Stacked and it's gonna be Mayham. There are 3 5-round bouts in there for the title/championship and the other 3 rounders are electric as well. Some people wanted Khabib and McGregor fights as main events but that was unrealistic to think about.
Finally! That was a long wait.
The main event might not be as exciting as some were expecting, as Jamahal Hill was not super popular even when he became a champ, and was a bit forgotten during his absence, but it's still a good fight, plus, there are other fights on the main card that are even more interesting, i.e. Gaethje Vs Holloway or Oliveirs Vs Tsarukyan.
I'd say that's good enough and think we could say that the UFC delivered on their promise.

The odds for Pereira Vs Hill are not in yet, but I expect Pereira to be the favourite (maybe not a massive one, but still).
324  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Metawin.com | Double chance | Win up to 0.20 BTC on: February 19, 2024, 08:17:09 AM
It can be done through cross check. Like picking the winners from repost and then checking if they have deposited. Or picking users who are eligible by deposit and then asking their twitter handle.

For this competition in bitcointalk, I wont check twitter either.

Thanks for clarifying.
I'll probably enter the competition later in the month if the number of other participants is not too high (and if transaction fees don't go crazy again). BTC0.2 + $20 on the top is a good deal considering there's no risk other than tx fees.

I dont think that Volks grandpa performance is going to play bad after loss to Topuria. He wasnt boasting or making fun of Topuria, he was having fun. But in general he is getting old. Used to be best p4p (he still is one of the best), but now fighters oustrike him. And he indeed looks like he is getting older or slower.

All the trash talk aside, they both show mutual respect after the fight. Alex might not be in his prime age anymore, but I'm not a fan of writing fighters off after a loss. He had only lost to great fighters: Islam and Ilia, both are better than anyone he had fought before, so it's not necessarily a sign of any serious decline.
Volk is asking for a rematch and is happy to fight in Spain, Dana is happy with Spain as well so I think it has a big chance of happening. Some could say Alex doesn't deserve a rematch, but given his achievements and the fact there aren't that many big names in the featherweight, I think it's the fight that makes sense.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: February 17, 2024, 11:27:01 PM
City is always finding it very difficult to score when its opponent used the defensive strategy. I have been watching the game since the first half and this is the main problem owned by a club with fully attacking strategy. The only answer to play defensive strategy against a team like city.

That's not it. They managed to get 31 shots on goal, three times more than Chelsea. You don't see that very often.
They had plenty of chances to score but luck was just not on their side. Haaland himself had like 4 perfect scoring opportunities but failed to convert even once. It happens. If not for the lack of luck, they would've won at least 3-1.
328  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Metawin.com | Double chance | Win up to 0.20 BTC on: February 17, 2024, 11:05:31 PM
This doesn't require you anything extra, just your regular BTC deposit at MetaWin and take the chance to win 0.20 BTC.

The tweet suggests you must repost + follow in addition to the BTC0.002 deposit. How will they match users' Twitter and Metawin accounts though?

Dana White vs his wife Cheesy

That's more suitable for the PowerSlap  Grin

It is confirmed now that the main event for UFC 300 will be revealed during the post-fight press conference of the UFC 298. Yeah, I think so too, that they haven't had confirmations in the backroom for who will be fighting. We'll find it out soon enough though.

Good to know. It's about time. The expectations are set so high that whatever fight will get announced, many people will get disappointed anyway. And there are limited options for high-profile fights. The most viable options are probably Adesanya Vs DPP, or Aspinall Vs Pereira.

Everyone wants the biggest UFC event of all time and Dana doesn’t even know if Conor will be able to fight by then or not.

He confirmed that McGregor will not fight until later this year (Autumn).
333  Economy / Reputation / Where do we draw a line? Signature campaigns or shilling campaigns on: February 12, 2024, 11:34:42 PM
I just came across this post by Icopress (one of the most active campaign managers currently):

(...)
There is something else I would like to discuss.

As you know, a signature campaign is a type of advertising that is shown under a member's profile through discussions in various sections of the forum without explicit indication. And I have never forced anyone to mention or recommend an advertised project directly in posts as this should be voluntary.

But today, as a manager, I was extremely outraged because I observed a situation where a user wears a Wasabi signature, and recommended other open source wallets.

After advertising for mixers was banned here on the forum, payout rates began to decline due to lack of competition, but Wasabi decided to be understanding and respectful of the contributions of quality posters while maintaining a high level of rates. At the very least this deserves respect.

I don’t mind at all if you recommend this or that wallet as long as you list the list of available options. But if you recommend open source wallets without mentioning the one whose advertisement you are wearing, then you have no place on my team, since I see this as a disparaging attitude towards my work and the advertised project.

I will respond to similar incidents in the future.

Bits emboldened by me.

As much as I understand his logic and I even respect him for stating that publicly rather than kicking out "misbehaving" participants without stating the reason - I think we have a precedent here where the campaign manager is openly policing (to a small degree but still) the content of the posts by telling participants what they can't post, or what they must include (i.e. you can't say you like product X without mentioning product Y).

This alone might not sound like a big deal, but the unwritten rule was that signature campaigns are nothing more than renting out advertisement space, and there was no expectation of participants to endorse advertised services.

I feel that if we leave things like this unchecked, that's a short way to the introduction of shilling campaigns, where participants will be openly required to make a minimum number of positive posts about advertised service, or maybe even negative posts about its competitors.

So again, I don't imply any ill will in Icopress' post, in fact, I think he acted in participants' best interest, but I see this as a small step in a potentially very bad direction.

So the question is, should the forum introduce any rules on compelled/restricted posting, or do we let anything go, including shilling campaigns?

To właściwie dlaczego spodziewasz się korekty az do okolic $30k, jeżeli mamy same potencjalnie pozytywne informacje? Tylko dlatego że stało się to w 2020?
Halving za pasem, stopy prawdopodobnie w dół, rekordowy popyt na ETFy - dlaczego nie mielibyśmy iść w górę?

(...) but I think I am OK for them to fight because I believe in equality for both genders (...)

Men and women are supposed to be complementary, not equal.
I'm not necessarily for banning women from MMA, but I won't support that either. I just take it as a symptom of an unhealthy society.

(...) the age gap is seriously alarming and he could be taken out by a fighter 8 years younger than him, (...)

Volkanovski is only 35. Depending on his genetics, he could still be within his peak performance period. Writing him off, just because of that head-kick KO loss is not serious. His previous fight against Islam was widely seen as his success not failure, and he also defeated Rodriguez in between those fights,
336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 10, 2024, 03:53:02 PM
It seems, bookmakers keen towards Topuria. I look at the comments and Topuria had higher odds, I think 1.91 will be the final odd or if they increase Volk's odds and decrease Topuria's odds, that will be a huge mental shock for Volk. It probably already is when it moves from 1.53 to 1.91 and you are getting anticipated. Many people even compare this fight to Aldo - McGregor.

I have no clue how do bookies set their odds, but I suspect they adjust them accordingly to how people are betting. So if public perception is that Volk is on the decline (because of the way he lost to Islam) and that Topuria is on the rise, and much more money was going on Topuria - then they might be forced to adjust the odds to mitigate the risk of making losses in case of Volk's losing.

Volkanovski is favorite to win but some people are saying he is too old to fight in same level with Topuria so he made great funny video for this, and you must watch it.
It is only two minutes long so you wont waste time, and he did a good job acting and making fun of himself, and I think he earned some money from casino for doing this:
https://youtu.be/C2nsn2uzWog

That's pretty funny. He's got a lot of distance to himself and probably one of the strongest mentalities in the sport.
337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 10, 2024, 03:41:25 PM
OP, I find it really hard to understand what exactly is the purpose of this topic and what are you trying to say.
Are you saying that you invested in a ponzi scheme that has some sort of a bug that keeps paying you interest despite withdrawing your investment? Or are you saying that investing in ponzi schemes is good provided that it's done early?
In either case, good luck in voluntarily sending your money to scammers, I'm sure it'll work great for you in the long-run.
Also, don't go too crazy with your $6 profit.
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 09, 2024, 04:50:13 PM
I like to bet it riskier and to bet on Underdog and if the Underdog could bear fangs because I think that Ilia Topuria is a dangerous opponent for Volkanovski. and knowing that I think this is a great opportunity for the risk taker in my opinion, and Topuria surely has the potential to prove himself against Volkanovski, I am truly excited about what may happen with this fight,
I agree with the exception that the odds are simply not attractive enough. x2.02 is hardly an underdog, it's more of an even fight according to bookies.
While the Justin Gaethje VS Max Holloway will still be ongoing and not canceled (...)
Yup, they updated it and the fight is no longer showing as cancelled.

(...) I find interesting is the Main Event for the UFC 300 was now Weili Zhang VS Xiaonan Yan which it doesn't look great at all for an Anniversary event and the Main Event would be this one, no offense for women fighters but I would like to see an exciting match.

I don't think women should be fighting in mma at all, but currently there are 2 main events, plus, Weili Zhang VS Xiaonan Yan may not be exciting to you or me, but both of them are Chinese so potentially it could bring a lot of views from their fellow countrymen. I understand mma is getting more popular in China, so it could be a way for the UFC to expand.
339  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: [Mycelium Android] Transaction stuck for ~2 weeks, can't bump the fee on: February 09, 2024, 04:35:48 PM
I think if you don't open your wallet, mycelium will no longer rebroadcast your transaction.
Or you could just delete an unconfirmed transaction from Mycelium, so it won't get rebroadcasted anymore.

As for me, I took the advice I got in this thread and started using Electrum wallet with RBF feature It's really good and helps you not stress out about transactions getting stuck.
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 09, 2024, 10:09:26 AM
If I was Chandler, I would have accepted any other opponent. How long he is inactive already? Quite a period. He is not getting any younger, he has quite a family to feed at least. I dont know what Chandler is waiting for. For a biggest paycheck from a fight against Conor and to retire after? Imho Conor can do whatever he wants, Chandler mush fight at least to stay busy.

I called it. I expected that the dream fight with Conor could turn into a career-trap for Chandler. The longer the wait the more fans' interest will dwindle.
Now, Chandler should move on and take some other fight, but there's a risk that if he loses, he would drop in the rankings and Conor would no longer want to fight him. Right now, from McGregor's perspective, losing a fight to high-ranked Chandler is not much of a shame, he could use the long break as an excuse. But losing to a low-ranked Chandler could mark the end of his career. There would be no justification to match him up with any of top fighters anymore.

Yup I took a peek a couple of hours ago...  And I really think those odds are pretty good for Volk.  The books could be putting too much weight on his last loss vs Makhachev which Volk took on short notice hence saving the event.  Volk during interviews also seemed to give hints that he got paid well for it, saying that he has now enough to take care of his daughter and setting her up for life.

I think Topuria is slightly more likely to win, so wouldn't consider anything below 2.0 on Volk as good odds. Not to take anything away from Alex, but I think Ilia is better than any of his previous opponents (with an exception of Islam).
