will do almost anything for money

Hmm ... nothing special ... I think that makes you an ordinary person. There are thousand others who will do almost everything (good or bad) for money.
642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is bitcoin core? on: November 17, 2014, 03:50:19 PM
Bitcoin core refers to software "bitcoin-qt" - an official bitcoin wallet

It's just piece of software, a client (very same as your torrent client if you know) but this one communicates with other bitcoin clients.
There is no central bitcoin system only a wide network of these clients, thus it's called P2P.

You dont need to be part of this network, as it requires to download the blockchain. For zou would be better to use web or lightwight wallets (blockchain.info, multibit, electrum...)

Now, I am getting 3 fields to fill in at login :

Username
Password
HuhHuhHuh

What is the last field? Do you get the same? or is the problem on my side?

Edit : Is this site under beta testing? Now I get 2 fields again, but I cannot login with my account.

Very same in here. I saw phone number required, but now it's gone.  Just can't login.
Hope it's just maintenance, but would be great to announce this next time.

Tsunami is good but the bitcoin there looks like a meteor ... Would be great rename it to "BTC meteor incoming" and instead of water put there some bank institute (central bank) into impact area.

648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just starting (5 years later) question about wallets on: November 17, 2014, 11:01:19 AM
So I have minimal experience with computers and economics.  What could go wrong?
Hahah.
Anyway I have a few questions
I got a wallet through coin base bc they gave me a dollar.  I put 20 from my bank acct into it so that was fun.  I do have a few questions:
1.  Do accounts gain interest?
2.  Are there really only going to be 21 million?  What happens when they're all mined out .
3.  How many have been mined so far?
4.  How does one get them besides mining?  Just through selling goods/services?
5.  I have the idea of what a faucet is.  Are there any good ones?

Anyway. I'm a town worker and scuba instructor in central connecticut. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi welcome aboard.

Don't worry about being late ... there are still too many people not knowing about  Wink
Perhaps you could utilize your occupation. Offer the scuba training for bitcoins (equal price), I would go for it if you were closer Smiley

1. No

2. Yes. Nothing special will happen. Miners just do not get block reward anymore (they get only transaction fees)

3. Little more than 13 mil. check https://blockchain.info/charts/total-bitcoins

4. Yes, selling goods/services and signature campaign (check this thread) is the best way. Also you can try faucets etc. but without tons of active refs you won't earn much.

5. IMO best faucets are freebitco.in, moonbit.co.in, 777bitco.in, btc25.net ... try landofbitcoins, thy have a great overview of faucets

aslo check on-line game freebitcoinminer ... it's much better than faucets  check their thread or my signature
649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Churches accepting donations in Bitcoins? on: November 16, 2014, 10:04:38 PM
Who cares. Churches always tried to rob working people. I believe they would accept anything what can be monetized or sold for gold
Bible isn't saying "Thou shalt not accept BTC", so why not?

Sorry for this but im strict atheist, and anytime I hear words "church" and "donation" together,  everything inside me starts boiling.

650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is bitcoin having real value? on: November 16, 2014, 08:31:14 PM
hello i ahve doubt i.e bitcoins are distributed freely for mining

so my doubt is bitcoins are really moving based on real money i.e

suppose in first say example 1000 people have bitcoins i.e distributed using mining

so for these people how the value of bitcoin paid i.e is this money paid by later investors?

i.e my main doubt is bitcoin has real money
and why for mining giving bitcoins and how it useful to bitcoin

or is this all just another virtual scam?

Bitcoin is a very same scam as fiat curreny is. Both isn't covered by anything, only people trust and mining is just brilliant way to solve bitcoin "money" supply.
You cant make them out of thin air, like banks do with money and cant throw them in place all at once, then only few first people would became BTC owners.

651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will bitcoins price increse when theres none left to mine? on: November 16, 2014, 06:34:33 PM
Will bitcoins price increse when theres none left to mine? Should i start mining now? And hold onto the bitcoins until the price goes up?

Bitcoin mining will end around 2140,  nobody knows what happen after.

To hold BTC is always good idea, but instead of mining you should buy them directly (wait for significant price drop).

Price (as always) is given by demand and supply. As there are still too many people not knowing about BTC, I suppose the price will go up, but cant tell you when.

652  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Downloadable mining on: November 16, 2014, 01:24:18 PM
Think you are looking for something like coingeneration or eobot.
But these programs using CPU and GPU for mining and you will earn 0.00nothing.

654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help wanted for my first test transaction on: November 15, 2014, 10:34:48 PM
Thank you Wusolini for helping. I'll take your advice (I only need to select the least suspect one).

Use microwallet faucets. There are plenty of them so you can reach payout limit within half hour.
Find some faucet rotator like e.g. landofbitcoin
655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help wanted for my first test transaction on: November 15, 2014, 10:12:32 PM
Hello

I am asking for a volunteer to help me test my first BTC transactions by transferring an insignificant amount to my address 171AKdfWqFUngTqnAzN1tXLvq9LKJzanFL. Of course, I promise to transfer it right back if you want me to.

Thanks for your help.

Use faucets. Its the only thing they are good for.

657  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to use bitcoin core wallet on: November 12, 2014, 05:59:53 PM
maybe it has to be synced first as right now i do not have address or even a bitcoin address to look at.  so i will wait and see.

thanks.

I think when you run core for first time, there is no addy generated. I had to wait till full sync ... but not sure about. It's quite time ago.

But I can tell: you can speed up the sync. by using a bootstrap
just DL the bootstrap (it's a blockchain up to certain date) via torrent ... it's much faster.

search this forum or google
658  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will the difficulty of mining keep on going up forever? on: November 12, 2014, 06:18:03 AM
In simple a difficulty is consequence of rising hash power. So when no new mining devices will be connected to network, diff. could stay.
659  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I send BTC from an out of sync wallet? on: November 10, 2014, 04:54:16 PM
better wait to blockchain download .... your bitcoins could be already gone, stolen  Smiley

to speed things up you can import private key to any lightweight (microwallet, electrum..) or web wallet (blokchain.info) .. this should take only few minutes
correct me if i am wrong but i just want to point out that you can easily check your Bitcoins status on any online explorer out there and see if everything is how you left them a year ago, and then sent the tx

You're right. I just want OP to understand that amount of BTC he see in his wallet is obsolete.

Moreover, most of wallets usually contain more addr. and it could be annoying to check them all by hand. I saw a web which summarize BTC on all addr. you put in ... but I can't remember the name
