1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash about to top $1,000 on: December 14, 2017, 08:15:19 AM
Dash is by far the biggest gainer in the entire ecosystem. While BTC gets a lot of press simply due to it/s massive individual price, Dash has been gaining on it all year. So far BTC has gained 1700%. While Dash has gone up 8770% since January 1st. Ethereum is just behind it.

Actually, I just calculated and Ethereum gains have gone over 10,000%. So Ethereum is in the lead. But the year is not over. Let's see on December 31 who has posted the biggest gains by %.

Dash is almost there at the $1k mark. It will be able to topple that over pretty easily in my opinion.

The movement of Dash was generated mostly in January, when the all time high in bitcoin was hit. After that the price didn't really go anywhere, it just sort of stayed at a similar spot for a while, while bitcoin went up and brought the fiat pricing up as well.

It'll be interesting to see whether Dash can break 0.1 BTC again, because $1k is easily going to be hit. Personally i think that dash has a fair chance of setting a new all time high before the new year starts.
2  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: better wallet on: December 14, 2017, 08:05:22 AM
What is a better wallet, nova exchange or cryptopia. They look like the same but I was wondering who is faster in transferring ..

Both of these are obviously exchanges and are not designed to store your money on. Look at what happened to btc-e, bitfinex, nice hash, and a bunch of other exchanges which got hacked and the users had to either wait out a period of time for their coins or got just completely ripped of their money. Exchanges do not allow you to access your private keys, therefore they are not ideal wallets for long term storage.

If you're just asking for which one is the superior exchange, then i'd say cryptopia at the moment.

Really you're just comparing two of the smallest and most unreliable exchanges, but since nova is going through changes right now i'd rather trust cryptopia.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: dogecoin on: December 14, 2017, 07:57:57 AM
funny how even dogecoin which is a ''shitcoin'' according to many raised like 50% in recent days how do u guys explain that? i bought 15000 dogecoins as a joke for 30 euro 2 weeks ago, today that's worth over 45 euro which is a 50% increase lol i didn't expect people to actually buy dogecoin what's up with that? at such increase its more profitable then many altcoins lmao

Pure speculation... Actually you'd be surprised because even though dogecoin is technically just a memecoin it's still got more practical usages than half of the supposedly "legit" coins on the market right now. It's actually got a community behind it that cares, and it doesn't promise anything that is outrageous.

And if you look at the charts, doge gets pumped once a year or so. Right now we may be seeing the start of a new rally for dogecoin, with the price going from $0.001 to $0.003 or more.

Though for long term holding, i don't see much potential in dogecoin just because it has no extra features other than being a cheap means of transaction.
4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitsler withdraw scam on: December 14, 2017, 07:41:11 AM
So I deposited on bitsler a small amount(higher than $10) but was not able to withdraw later because the minimum withdraw for ETH is 0.05($32) which makes no sense at all since fees are low...so the only reason it can be is to steal indirectly from naive users playing for fun

Nowhere near the deposit page it says anything about the minimum withdraw, I only noticed this when attempting to withdraw as an error

This is sad from a website earning thousands if not millions

The admins(baryom and the other guy) decide whether or not they want to set the minimum withdrawal at a higher level, and you should have known before you deposited. you could have checked by either asking the chat if you were really this worried about the minimum withdrawal, or read the FAQ:

Quote
What is the minimum withdrawal amount for each currency?
Bitcoin (BTC): 0.002
Litecoin (LTC): 0.15
Dogecoin (DOGE): 2000
Ethereum (ETH): 0.05
Burst (BURST): 200

Bitsler is not a scam, let's make that clear though.

If their wallets are filled with small inputs that can cause transaction fees to go higher than normal just because their minimum withdrawal is really small, then obviously they are going to set a higher minimum. Plus i'm sure the minimum was there before ETH was even pumped, meaning that they haven't updated it according to fiat values.
5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Unocoin: Reversing wallet balance by changing T&Cs[With proof] [Updated] on: December 14, 2017, 07:34:17 AM
I think that if they are just blatantly changi their terms and conditions in order to avoid paying the promo codes that they issued before, they should really be ashamed of themselves. Just because bitcoin went up, doesn't mean that their duty to fulfill their previous promises can be void.

Plus, these kind of money is probably absolutely miniscule in terms of their trading volume. They can obviously afford to pay for this.

You've gotten verified for this, and they should allow you to claim whatever balance you have with them, whether or not you got it from a coupon for free or not. They haven't stated this before you signed up and redeemed the coupon code either as it seems.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: x5 RIPPLE x5 Current price 0.39, Target 2.4 on: December 13, 2017, 10:08:49 AM
keep on dreaming.. just a fast rise, and sadly will get down again ..maybe stabilize around 0,35

Anything could honestly happen but i think you're right. Right now everyone is on the ripple/ltc train and nobody is smart enough to realize that this is all hype, all talk, nothing else. When they do realize then they will start dumping and i doubt that kind of price level will stay up there.

But guy_wonderful if you are able to provide with some TA that would be greatly appreciated.

There is always a chance that what you said can happen, especially with BTC price rising as well. Though i personally think that it is unlikely.
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell, Hold or Buy? on: December 13, 2017, 10:03:01 AM
What are you going to do with your Bitcoins and Dollars now?

I am a little mad at myself for not selling at 17k$ because I was too tired and just fell into the bed.

I would say don't worry too much about it since price has steadily increased for the past few days and the trend is still quite upwards right now. Wait a bit and you may actually be able to cash out at a higher level than you planned to do a few days back.

I'm holding right now, buying seems to be a risky proposition to take on at this moment and i feel like i have enough BTC in the bag to ride this train if it continues to go.

I don't think that selling right now is a great strategy either, holding whatever you've got right now is the right decision to make imo.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DAG to Overcome Blockchain? on: December 13, 2017, 09:59:24 AM
It's obviously got some advantages but it is still quite early. Blockchain is proven technology that is known to work for years without failing, even though for blockchains, it has got fundamental limitations as to scaling efficiently for sure.

DAG based coins such as IOTA have potential, the free transactions that they offer are a great selling point in my opinion.

But they have to make sure that everything is bug free with their software and code, which is something that is not the case at the moment. Disappearing balances for no reason on their GUI and slow transactions are not a good start imo.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitfines a joke? on: December 13, 2017, 09:55:24 AM
So I've been trying to generate an eth deposit address for over an hour  Shocked
The Bitfinex web page either hangs or gives me an error:
"The Ethereum watchonly daemon is restarting, please come back in a few minutes."
I tried generating deposit addresses for other coins to no avail.
At some stage I even got a "Deposit address creation disabled" message.
Is this below par performance usual for Bitfinex?
Thanks
It is obviously their fault but these things do happen. I think it is back online now since i just executed an eos deposit without any issues and now it's got the full amount of confirmations needed. Their ETH is probably now up to date.

So no, they're not a joke but they did promise you something that did not happen(come back in a few minutes).

As for alternatives, not really sure which ones you are looking for but gdax, kraken, etc. all have ETH and fiat support. It just is up to you which one you prefer to trade on and which one you are most comfortable with holding your funds with.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worst coins ever. on: December 13, 2017, 09:53:25 AM
Yea, the government might be able to trace who owns what coins... but how can we... how can we as regular people avoid buying some centralized piece of crap coin, with absolute certainty.

You can never do so with absolute certainty. You can filter out the obvious scams, though.

If something that is:

a) Promising high returns off your investment for doing nothing
b) Promising new tech vaporware that is probably too good to be true
c) or trying to get you to invest amounts that are larger than actually needed

It's probably a bad coin to invest in, and at best case scenario, a centralized shitcoin. Btcney has mentioned bit connect and i think that's the best example at the moment, massive ponzi that is about to blow up soon.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it normal for ICO prices to drop once they're listed on the exchange? on: December 13, 2017, 09:39:56 AM
So it seems a lot of ICO's are running with $1 per coin during the ICO - but then dropping well below that price once they're listed on an exchange.

Is this a normal thing for an ICO at least initially while they're working on getting their project fully operational?

Are they setting the $1-$2 a coin so they can make sure they're fully funded to get the project started and on it's way vs trying to sell shares for pennies or dimes?

But why wouldn't the price of an ICO hold at what that price was?  Just because initial founders are dumping their coins to get some cash out and forcing the hand/price to go down based on supply & demand?

It's obviously a common occurrence. ICOs are always a gamble and there is no guarantee whatsoever that the price of what you buy is going to go up in the future, and for tokens to go down because of speculation is definitely possible.

Initial founders cashing out could be one reason, definitely. Especially for a crappy ICO project.

But otherwise it's just supply/demand. If people don't see the project going anywhere they are more likely to dump their tokens for a loss, for the readily accessible cash.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many confirmations do I need to know LTC is in my wallet? on: December 13, 2017, 09:28:07 AM
Just withdrew LTC from Bittrex into my Electrum wallet.  I have a check mark and when I hover over it with the mouse, i see 23 confirmations.

Am I good?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.  Just want to be sure so I can log out.

The default amount of confirmations needed should be 6 confirmations i think. How many electrum needs before it allows you to spend the funds as confirmed, i'm not sure. It definitely could be 6*4 = 24 though since that would be the same amount of time as the bitcoin 6 confirmations.

It shouldn't bother you since after the first confirmation you'll be getting a confirmation every time a block gets mined. So you can close your electrum with a peace of mind.

Plus i'm pretty sure that you can enable spending of unconfirmed funds if you are really urgent in electrum.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of successful ICO. Some statistic? on: December 13, 2017, 09:19:54 AM
There are lot of ico which have already been completed. Is there some resurs to see the statistics of successful and those that are growing?

There is a site that is entirely dedicated to showing stats regarding ICOs including how much ROI has been generated since the ICO based on the ICO price of the coin. NXT and IOTA are both pretty big gainers in relation to ICO price right now.

Even though ICOs can be successful, it can't be ignored that there are definitely risks involved in investing in ICOs.

There have been plenty of ICO scams including a recent one called confido, which took investor money and ran. You always have to do your own research and due diligence before you invest in anything since people are really out there for your money these days.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoins To Invest In Dec 2017 on: December 13, 2017, 09:02:26 AM
Which are the leading Altcoins to be invested in order to earn more profit?

If you have big balls then you could potentially look into investing in some LTC. Should be obvious that it is very very risky to do so at this stage of the mania but it could still go up by 50% or more in value, nobody knows for sure.

IOTA is going down a bit right now, meaning that potentially it could be a good buy.

We've seen how strongly IOTA has performed in the past few weeks. Now that IOTA has stabilized and found its price floor, you should be able to make an easy 0.0001 BTC per IOTA in profits on your investment.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A decentralized USDT ? on: December 13, 2017, 08:58:28 AM
Is there a decentralized version of USDT ? or any project is doing it? I feel the centralized version has huge risk to invest. If there is no project, I would love to gather a bunch of people to develop it.

Yes. There is Nubits and BitUSD.

Nubits is decentralized and runs its own ledger whilst BitUSD relies on the Bitshares blockchain. I have no idea how nubits work since it's just so complicated but it has indeed held its value over the past few years so that's a good sign. BitUSD is generated from people shorting a particular currency.

There is also steem dollars, similar to BitUSD, but very volatile.

USDT is supposedly decentralized, but its value obviously still relies on the reserves of tether. The coins aforementioned do not.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 12 000$ to invest on cryptocurrencies on: December 12, 2017, 09:20:16 AM
Hi ! I have 12 000$ to invest, I want to hold it 1 or 2 years.

I already have 70 IOTA bought at 0.80$/unit, I want to buy more into Altcoins.

Any suggestions ?

Lucky you because now your investment in IOTA has 5x or more already.

I can't say much about suggestions because i believe in you doing your own homework. Don't rely on others to tell you about what to invest in. But i personally believe that monero may be a good time to buy in right now, so is ZCash.

Both are anonymous coins that i believe may come in handy in the future when regulations are tightening up.

These coins are not just useful for p2p, they are also very useful for very wealthy individuals to store money privately, which is extremely attractive.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH and LTC which is valuable ? on: December 12, 2017, 09:11:23 AM
Apart from Bitcoins which has proven to be consistent in price appreciation, which of these two coins, ETH and LTC you think is most valuable.

Are you talking about per coin valuation or market capitalization here? If you're talking per coin then it isn't really fair since Ethereum has almost double the amount of LTC that is currently in circulation. But i still think that right now, ETH is probably deservedly more valuable.

Even after the pump LTC is only in fifth place in market cap terms while Ethereum has solidified itself in the 2nd place.

I don't really like Ethereum that much, but i guess the market have voted with their dollars when ETH overtook LTC as the consensus number two guy in crypto. So yeah, ETH is more valuable at least for now. We'll see how big LTC's pump gets though.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 🔷LTC above 1000 USD in February 2018? on: December 12, 2017, 09:05:18 AM
Man, I cannot catch up with the LTC price Huh I first had a topic asking whether LTC would be 100 USD. It passed it, and I had this topic on whether LTC would be 150, and it is 250 USD now!!!
Here is why I am opening this topic:  LTC above 1000 USD in February 2018?
I don't have a lot of LTC mind you, but even the little amount I have is making an excellent profit.

You're probably only saying this because LTC is on such a run recently.

If the run up never occurred you probably wouldn't be making these types of predictions right now. Let me remind you, these sort of rallies will not be long lived and cannot be sustained at such a quick pace. It'll either slow down, or crash at the end. Probably both.

For this reason, $1k USD per LTC seems very unlikely to me. There is fundamentally nothing useful that LTC has that other altcoins don't have, to be honest.
19  Economy / Reputation / Re: How to remove negative trust? (from Lauda) on: December 12, 2017, 08:59:45 AM
Well, lauds considers you untrustworthy for selling your account and your account could have been used for malicious purposes after it is sold if the new owner isn't honest about his business. That is why he gave you the negative trust.

There is no way of removing your negative trust, unless Lauda decides to remove it themselves.

Do some good to the community, stay active. If you can prove that you're trustworthy again i think he'll be happy to remove it eventually.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Triple digits by 2018? on: December 12, 2017, 08:50:06 AM
Do you think we could see sub $1k prices at some point next year? I mean, is that even a possibility?

Thanks

Nope. Not a chance. If bitcoin crashes it will NOT go down to 3 digits, maximum 4 digits.

I think that the pump is still not over yet at this point and we'll see a lot more increases in price right now. It'll be rare to see days where bitcoin is going down a lot right now, and for bitcoin to crash down to 4 digits is a 50% or more deduction in price and that's not going to happen overnight.

Even if all of 2018 is bearish and all, i don't think 3 digits is possible still. It's just way too big of a fall.
