Mazecoin has nothing going for it that couldn't be done by bitcoin.

A huge premined national reserve.

Ouch RIC not on Cryptsy's radar yet: https://www.cryptsy.com/coinvotes

I'm sure its the lack of pools scaring them off still. Man I wish I could help out with that!

Yikes. Cryptsy is taking bribes publicly now.
Well then f*** them  Cheesy
Cryptsy won't help anyway... It's a myth!  Smiley

Yea....since they have now taken bribes, the coins they list have no meaning anymore.. This shall be the death of cryptsy.
The new generation of exchanges will have to bribe the owners of the coins to be able to list them on the exchange...  Wink

I think they'd be better off curating a good list of coins. I'll admit I log into Cryptsy less and less all the time. Everything I own on there has tanked, and the interesting new coins aren't even there. Honestly, I'd be hard pressed to buy anything on Cryptsy anyways because it would require first selling something at a loss.

Vote this up people! Lets get on BTER!

- Primecoin's primes are limited to a maximum size while Riecoin's aren't.

Wow, didn't know this. Cool.
566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you like Auroracoin, you're going to LOVE Mazacoin (MZC)! on: March 05, 2014, 04:48:04 AM
Coins like Doge and Vert made it obvious that a coin can fly if its got a dedicated community. Almost every new coin out there struggles to build a community and the old favorites fight to keep people interested. . . Aurora took off because its pretty much got a guaranteed community of close knit, politically dissenting enthusiasts by inception (assuming the airdrop works). MZC has definitely got all that too (again assuming its dispersed to the people from the premine). The Lakotas are also in the belly of the beast in America. Dissent concerning environment and liberty is often championed by natives because of their treaties and sovereign status. Just look how many natives and non-natives were all supporting "Idle no more". Protestors back the natives because the tribes often have the best legal positioning to fight tar sands, pipelines, fracking etc. . . Dissenters also love Iceland because they told the banks to screw off.

Buying MZC is a protest vote (or at least perceived as such) against corporate destruction and banking tyranny. Go Maza!

567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ██[MZC] MazaCoin - National Currency - now @ RussiaToday, Independent, Telegraph on: March 04, 2014, 12:00:40 PM
They should schedule an airdrop like Aurora so that all Lakotas have some MZC, could be done from the national reserves. With the price rising, they'll be able to distribute some real money without depleting their store. . . A sovereign decentralized crypto currency in the heart of America the land of inflation, holy crap this could be huge!

Is difficult to understand that coins like:   Huh Huh

Kithecoin

Which are obvious pumps and dump, still have a higher market cap than Riecoin:

http://imgur.com/iTAWNIb

Kitteh lists 6 pools on their announcement page. I think that's what it comes down to. This coin isn't really decentralized until they've got it mining in several pools. Great idea or not, the mining needs to be decentralized. . . People are on it, its coming.

kittens are also cuter than Bernhard Riemann
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [CCL] Cold Call Coin - just an idea on: March 03, 2014, 07:26:11 PM
Sorry to disappoint, not a new coin just thought I'd throw this idea out there. I can't develop anything and maybe someone is already doing this but whatever. . .

There should be a coin that autodials and spam emails free coins constantly. Like a faucet that cold calls people to take some free coin. The email lets you add the wallet to your phone/computer and receive free CCL. This is using spam for good to decentralize. Like an airdrop to everywhere.

I have no idea how any of this could actually work. To take out the element of trust would require some sort of automation- unlike Aurora it couldn't be a giant premine being given away, but something automated in the network that keeps dispersing small amounts of new coins to many random email addresses. In time you would have millions of people all owning a bit of the supply.

"Spamcoin" is also already taken unfortunately.
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you like Auroracoin, you're going to LOVE Mazacoin (MZC)! on: March 03, 2014, 06:58:11 PM
The Lakota nation should schedule an airdrop like Aurora from the premined national reserve. That's what's adding value to AUR - every person in the nation of Iceland will soon have some. Until all Lakotas have some Maza it isn't really the people's currency. Cryptos get value from decentralization across a dedicated community. Maza has a coin community, and a centralized governing body of Lakota, but it doesn't have the inclusion of a group tied together by geography/ancestry yet.

Schedule airdrop of MZC to all Lakotas. Watch the price skyrocket. All of a sudden the national reserve becomes more valuable even though they have less MZC.

And they should do this quickly in case Aurora fails and the idea of national cryptos dies.

571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: March 03, 2014, 04:53:04 PM
Is there a paper wallet generator for Riecoin?

Thats a good one for the list.

I just had another thought:

- create school friendly Riecoin packages. It has client and miner, images graphs and stats, info on primes, ideas for classroom contests etc. . . I'm thinking the cool grade 4 science teacher who has the classroom lizard and hanging solar system could also run Riecoin on the homeroom computer. Teach kids about Bitcoin and Primes with Riecoin. An older student package could be offered to high schools/ universities etc for paper writing and coding projects. . . Then we just get educational email lists and start sending the packages out.

This could also be a great blow for the crypto revolution in general. Governments keep monetary policy out of schools for a reason. If people learned how the system worked at an early age, we'd never have gotten to the widespread corruption/deception we're at today. Schools would probably frown on a teacher bringing in bitcoin mining for the kids, too much like money or stock trading in most people's eyes. . .but if the teacher is bringing in software that performs an interesting mathematical task that is completely different. That would probably be encouraged. . . . sneaking Bitcoin into schools if you will. . .

Getting bitcoin into the education system will be critical eventually for its acceptance - Riecoin is positioned incredibly well towards that end.

572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: March 03, 2014, 02:49:23 PM

Regarding the roadmap, cool! Very good as a start. I'd add Android wallet next to the Mac wallet, I've been thinking on taking on those 2. Also GPU miner.
Open source stratum-mining is my first priority now, it will get many pools and it's easier to do than p2pool, which should be later on the list. I firmly believe we have the potential to grow big once there are lots of pools online, since that will bring more decentralization and trust.
Also get everyone to accept RIC! and website and video in many languages
But don't disregard what goin2mars says: faucets, giveaways, recognition, TOR, news articles. We got an article on NewScientist! let's get more
Let's complete the article in wikipedia. Also there's a wiki here: http://www.reddit.com/r/RieCoin/wiki/index

all makes sense to me, excellent additions. thanks Gatra. I'll add these and other suggestions to make up a full list.
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: March 03, 2014, 02:29:07 PM
I'd appreciate some feedback for one of Riecoin's possible new website.

http://riecoin.org/newsite/#home

For example:

Change background image?
Change font?
Change font color?
Change placement?
Add/Delete something?

My Riecoin address if anyone wants to give me a tip:
RRfX7TMuU9sYTJEG2RJEjEn4Z1vK3agkJM

I think its mostly cosmetic but, A few points:

- plain background is too plain, (we're getting part of RIC code written out on chalkboard for a background)
- don't like the body text and link fonts
- logos/video should be centered
- I think video should be on landing page - might be a personal bias
- landing page needs 1 -2 lines describing what Riecoin is. Maybe even a full paragraph. . .
- logos need different presentations in About page. Maybe section headers only use the circle logo without the word "Riecoin"? Sometimes it sits on a plate with a dropshadow? That sort of thing, needs to change up.
- all logos of Riecoin should be clickable and take you back to the landing page.
- tabs at the top might look better than big buttons. Darkcoin site for reference: top tabs, centered logo and brief description with cool background.
        http://www.darkcoin.io/
- body text backgrounds need a texture. maybe paper or wood to go with the chalkboard?
        http://pixabay.com/en/gray-notebook-paper-newspaper-page-35819/
        http://pixabay.com/en/wooden-floor-paper-texture-215877/

sorry if these make it a total overhaul
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: March 02, 2014, 11:32:09 PM
Riecoin needs a plan of action for its website details and the announcement page on this thread. A lot of coins have these and it really shows that the community understands the challenges and can succeed. Sometimes its just a list, and when things get done a line could be drawn through so that people can see a need was identified and then solved. Also as reference check out Reddcoin's plan of action on their announcement page. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423597.0They mention who they need, what they need, where they'd like to see the coin etc. . . . Riecoin has none of that sort of thing, but at the very least we should have a list.

I'll start off a few, please contribute.

- get more pools operating
- get listed on cryptsy
- get listed on BTER
- have the website redesigned
- post details about Riecoin in math focused forums
- post details about Riecoin in crypto focused forums
- create a mac versions of wallet and miner
- create a way for people to view the resultant data from Riecoin
- contact notable mathematicians/departments worldwide and see if they'd be interested in endorsing or commenting on Riecoin
- make a press release about RIC to be sent to math/science based publications
- start a foundation for bounties and contests

I'd say things that could be listed under completed, or scratched out:

- Finish block explorer - almost there?
- Get listed on coinmarketcaps
- start a dedicated forum
- implement transaction malleability fix
- create a promo video

If we have it all laid out well, we can then ask Gatra to add this to the web and forum details.

i speak german fluently and i will try to translate it , setting up the miner on ypool was a bit hard however ill try that again as well Smiley

Great! I'm looking forward to it.

what can i do now other than voting , if i dont have any programming and designing skills ? Tongue

That's cool, glad to see you here. What type of work/skill do you have then?

Any chance you speak another language other than English fluently? I think we should have translations of all Riecoin's text info and versions of the promo video in other languages. Gatra has said he'll get a Spanish voice over recorded - but all other languages would be very welcome. The way I see it, mathematics isn't culturally specific in any way, so the more languages we can connect with people in the better. Here is the script for anyone interested in doing some translating, you'd need to record at roughly the same speed as the English voice so that the timing works (I won't be able to fix timing because I won't understand the words). Definite cool factor from this for anyone who provides voice work too. 6000 people in the last 5 days have heard me as the voice of Riecoin - I had no idea last week that this week I would be such a spokesperson, but that's how things go I guess.

Video is posted on Riecoin.org for reference.

Script to be translated:
""Riecoin is a decentralized crypto currency built on Bitcoin offering an entirely new proof-of-work.  Miners of Riecoin process transactions in the same way Bitcoin miners do, but the mining of Riecoins produces a byproduct that is of value to the scientific community - highly verified prime sextuplets, or prime numbers. In fact, if enough people mine Riecoins all at once, they could collectively generate prime sextuplets 559 digits long that would break world records! All of this on a completely decentralized p2p currency with a fair launch - pretty cool right? . . .The coin gets its name from famous 19th century mathematician Bernhard Riemann who investigated the Riemann zeta function and established its importance for understanding the distribution of prime numbers. The data collected from Riecoin mining tests Hardy-Littlewook k-tuple conjectures regarding the distribution of primes using Riemann's zeta function; its information that could prove invaluable to human understanding of mathematics. . . .Riecoin also functions as an advanced decentralized currency. Like Bitcoin, there is no central authority, no one can change the ledger or double spend. To safeguard a fair launch, the first 24hrs following Riecoin's release offered no reward. This novel approach allowed early miners to verify there was no premine and have their miners tested and running when the coins finally started flowing. Riemann's algorithm also provides a stable, predictable supply of new coins, so its well suited for payment systems and as an investment. Feel free to ask any questions you might have - the Riecoin community is always happy to help. . . If you'd like to support p2p decentralized currency and help create world record breaking mathematical research in prime numbers - start mining Riecoins today on your computer!"

Obviously mining and buying Riecoins will also help.

Failing that. Post your comments/concerns here. Make suggestions for improvements. Thank people when they do things, thank Gatra when he posts an update. Any way to keep this thread active is very helpful. People investigating the coin want to see an active discussion with lots of people taking an interest in the coin...so in that regard you're already helping and its much appreciated!
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: March 01, 2014, 01:02:36 PM

No sarcasm here at all. I think you're absolutely right in fact. I know when I check out new coins its the bitcointalk release first page, the last few pages, and the website. . . If it looks good I'll check it out further. Not sure why the first page here isn't a top priority.

goin2mars started complaining just a few hours ago about the un-updated announcement.  Since then, Gatra has already added a ton of current info to the OP.

It was a direct PM to the dev from me, influenced by suggestions here, addressing an updated [ANN] that got the ball rolling. Gatra is super responsive and willing to guide/direct community members if needed. In the future, I encourage everyone to shoot him a message if there is something he can do (within his power) to help the coin. Anything from assistance understanding the source code to updates/urgent announcements.

On another note, a wiki would be another great next addition to have. Pages describing the primesr method and the protocol specification would be an immediate priority. Anyone able to host?

I agree, Gatra has been very fast and attentive to messages and requests. He's been working with people who are trying to set up pools also and said it is a priority....What he doesn't do is engage in fruitless debates on the forum. Personally, I think that's smart. He shouldn't be taking the defensive here at all - he's created a great coin and is supportive and welcoming.
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: March 01, 2014, 12:55:08 PM

Not just references, I want 1:1 trading value with bitcoin or at least litecoin. I want an Ubuntu wallet. I want an infographic. I want a Mac wallet. I want 50+ pools. I want giveaways. I want faucets. I want news articles. I want high difficulty. I want recognition about the transaction malleability workaround. I want fully anonymous transactions obscured by TOR. I want a community full of prime-number pictures and people spouting grammatically erroneous sentences. I want MPOS pools with trollboxes in them. I want android apps. I want ATM's. I want merchants. I want further optimized miners. Most of all I want to walk into a thread and not have a guy who doesn't even sound like he's on board with this coin trying to get it on exchanges.

For sure, I would also love to see all of that. Have you offered any bounties to see some of those things happen? The dev didn't premine, so we can't depend on him for funds. There's someone calling themselves the RiecoinWhale whose giving out bounties, but surely at personal expense. The botnet, attacker, or whathaveyou isn't going to hold the coin or offer bounties - they clearly are ready to sell at any price.

That leaves us. People who own some RIC and want to see it take off.

I took the donation I received for making the video and dedicated most of it to a bounty for website re-design. Read all about it here, or don't: http://riecointalk.com/index.php/topic,139.0.html
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: March 01, 2014, 06:22:53 AM
coin can loose first mover advantage and be left in the dust this way if a clone pops up fast enough with more diverse network from the start i think ... just hope the clone is not released before the network-thing is sortet  Roll Eyes

network is first priority. If you don't have one you don't have a coin.
If your network is not diverse you can not tell people you have a (fully) decentralized (and secure) currency because it would be a lie.

Prediction: now a round of some fud for everybody with some selling of course and then we see price threefold in a few hours after the third pool came on and nobody has more than that 50% of the network. Is also best scenario.

i hope it makes some sense

Yeah, if this coin gets even two more pools the price will skyrocket.

I think I read a few posts about these prices right now being criminally low . . but right now this coin is a highly centralized currency minted by one group of people. It's funny to watch the main riecoin.org page advertising as decentralized and know they're full of it because of that.

This coin is partially-decentralized right now, but unless at least 2-3 more pools pop up to make it decentralized it will just continue to be bullied down on the markets until it's worth even less than a few days ago.

The coin's just spinning it's wheels with one pool. . .sinking deeper and deeper.

I made the video so since you're saying I'm full of shit I'll respond to that. The mentions of 'decentralization' are in regards to the coin design and code, not the current state of the community. I could have made a video that made the claim "fully decentralized once more pools are added", but that would soon need to be edited. . .Unless I had no expectation that more pools would ever be created, in which case why would I bother making a promotional video?

I also got a donation of 250RIC for creating the video, there was a post for 500RIC for a block explorer, I think there are bounties for pools too. There are discussion of how to get more pools going and such here: riecointalk.com.

Oy mate bring it down a notch. I'm saying the currency is not really decentralized right now, and the fact that the dev(s) would use your vid to claim this is decentralized is wrong at this second . . and every second since the coin has launched since there has only been two choices since we started . . solo or ypool. Don't go an quote me the other one because it was garbage and died like it should have. Your video is great, except it doesn't describe this coin right now at all.

I'm gonna say for like the seventeenth time: Stop redirecting people to a site that nobody will want to go to. I'm not going to a site that isn't this one because this is where people are looking to speculate. Not the coin graveyard.

Its up a notch? I'm agreeing completely coin is not decentralized right now. The dev's "use" of my video is just that - he posted it. I wrote the script, I created the design. Suppose the coin was as yet unreleased and I wanted to promote it. Since the code was exclusively on Gatra's computer at that time I could have created a video describing a fully centralized coin existing soley on one man's computer, but that would be counter-productive and would soon require a re-edit. You get this right? . . I suppose Gatra could just keep my video in cold storage until there are more pools added, but again why? Anyone who takes 5 mins to investigate this coin can see there is a problem with pools and that the coin is 2 weeks old. I think its pretty obvious that 'decentralization' is referring to the coin's design not the state of a 2 weeks old community.

And yes, I heard your seventeen earlier renditions of that point and have taken it to heart with thanks. This is why I've re-posted info about bounties here that came from from Riecointalk.com. Wasn't it established that double posting the information was probably smartest? Leaving an organized place for the hard core fans and an updated feed in the most important thread. What am I missing here? You want me to post reference to another discussion without leaving a link to it?
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: March 01, 2014, 05:44:14 AM

Yeah that's cool that someone made an alt website. But the main thread is on this site right here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

No matter what anyone says. This is where people feel comfortable, and where they're looking to speculate. Not some alt site that requires effort to go to and make another account at just to post. Stop pulling traffic out of this thread, it looks terrible when you're redirecting people every two posts to a site for a coin that's two weeks old. Let it grow before you change things like that.

I've seen this crap with other coins. Every single time it splits the already faltering traffic and the coin fails even harder because everyone that thinks they're doing something good are just burying this shit in some obscure website like the one you listed and that's the end.

I completely agree.  As someone who owns greater than 10 different alts, I refuse to check the graveyard that is most alt's message boards just to hear the latest updates.  My personal preference is if OP could update the ANN with the most relevant updates, e.g., announce that the there's a wallet update and that it fixed the transaction malleability bug there.

The way I see it, most of a legitimate alt's productive development discussion goes on at the external forum, rather than here. It happened with PPC, and it's happening with RIC. I, the dev, and other active members post here just as regularly. It's just a much more organized location for bounties. Definitely agree that gatra could keep the [ANN] and OP updated with progress, will contact him about that.

Would it make more sense then to just post things twice? On the one hand I see how we need to keep this thread active because this is where most people will look for info, but the organization is also key. There is a bounty out for desperately needed pools, if the only mention of that bounty was in here it'd be pretty lost.

Yes, post everything a hundred times if that's what it takes. Riecoin has crap reputation right now. Bitcointalk has a fan-friggin-tastic one. Things that people read here are taken as legit, compared to a site like riecointalk.

Also I can't tell if you're serious or sarcastic.

Don't hold your own perceived organization above the reputation that this site has. This coin is so young, that it would still benefit it greatly to leech off of that as long as possible.

If the bounty for the pool were read in the first post of this thread . . as well as any pools and any kind of legitimate information pertaining to the coin . . . it would be great. This is the most successful approach so far. It has worked many times before. Why are you trying to circumvent something so simple?

No sarcasm here at all. I think you're absolutely right in fact. I know when I check out new coins its the bitcointalk release first page, the last few pages, and the website. . . If it looks good I'll check it out further. Not sure why the first page here isn't a top priority.
