This would be intresting franchise greeting sued by players for not paying their salaries. Eventually the franchise will pay the due amount but for 10 years they were able to avoid those payments. Thanks to BCCI and incompetent members this was possible.

Looks like the BCCI had other important priorities. I am not a big fan of the BCCI. They are too greedy and never bother about the players or the sport itself. The players are just treated as money making machines, without any sort of respect. And IPL remains the cash cow of the BCCI. An estimate in one of the leading newspapers estimated that the BCCI makes $1 billion every year from the IPL. If they spent 0.1% of that amount, this issue could have been resolved and the players would not be facing bankruptcy.
BCCI always thinks about its own financial matters. Last year, just to make the IPL happen, they prevented the T20 World Cup from taking place. In the midst of such a horrible covid situation in India this year, they hosted the IPL. BCCI could have donated some money to the Government of India for this covid situation.

We cannot blame BCCI for the current pandemic situation. When the IPL started, the condition of covid-19 was not so worse as it is now in India. Nobody anticipated that covid-19 third wave would be so deadly in this part of the world. No tournament can take place in this pandemic whether it be IPL or T20 World cup.
Then who is to blame?
COVID did not end when BCCI was releasing the IPL schedule. There were numerous times when the Indian medical association was informing the government that a second wave might hit soon. Neither did the government nor the BCCI were interested. They simply went ahead without any plans and the  result is infront of everyone now.

I don't know exactly who to blame. Cricket and all other sports were resuming at that time so why would India have stopped their IPL. In the neighboring country, PSL was also being held. Its just unfortunate that covid-19 hit all of us back, when we thought it should have disappeared.

They did not select the date about when they are planning to resume the IPL, the England cricket board already said that they will not allow its players to resume IPL this season as they have other tournaments scheduled and Australian cricket board and other cricket boards are yet to make their decision and the BCCI has given permission to pick other players in case their selected players are unavailable.

The BCCI must be blamed. Because they have failed to organize the IPL properly. Before the start of the IPL, they said they would strictly abide by the health restrictions. But no one obeyed the restrictions properly. And when the virus spread again in India, many players and people of management were infected. The BCCI must take the responsibility.

Are you telling that no one followed the restrictions even when the second wave was in full swing and if they found someone taking these restrictions for granted the BCCI would have already punished them to save their faces. Till now i have not heard about any investigation by them about the root cause of the situation inside a bubble and they should have moved the IPL to UAE even before the tournament and now they are forced to reschedule back to UAE.

The initial decision to hold the IPL in India itself was very surprising. Only around 4% of the population is fully vaccinated and there was always a risk of a spike in the infections. And the second mistake made by BCCI was that they allowed Varun Chakravarthy to leave the IPL bubble and then re-enter. He infected at least 6-7 other players and non-playing staff. Perhaps the BCCI got too arrogant and this made them not to concentrate on the protocol.

And yesterday there was a BCCI meeting. As expected, they have delayed the decision on the T20 World Cup once again. The message is very clear - they want the world cup either to be held in India, or postponed to next year.

Personally, I have lost interest in this edition of the IPL primarily because of the gap and the fact that many overseas players won't participate in the rest of the season.

The BCCI is trying to pack it up quickly through double headers etc which is the right decision in my opinion. They could have avoided this entire mess by following their IPL 2020 strategy, but their greed screwed them over.

Well, first there will be PSL in June in UAE and then they can decide any date for the IPL.

The only challenge for both IPL and PSL in UAE at this time is the hot weather.
Yes it will be scorching hot and the humidity will be killing when you walk out during the next few months and even if the match is played during the evening time it will be hard for anyone to play in that climate situation. So dew will be a major factor for the team bowling second.

Personally, I have lost interest in this edition of the IPL primarily because of the gap and the fact that many overseas players won't participate in the rest of the season.
There is nothing else to watch right now and i would have watched if there were any matches and resuming after a gap will not create interest and there will be many changes in the team.

As expected they took the right decision but took it after the mess. IPL 2020 was a huge success but 2021 is a huge mess. I completely agree with you it's BCCI's greed that caused this problem. Most of us won't be intrested in watching the matches now.
They were over confident about conducting the matches in India and i am sure the decision might be taken because of the government assurance as well and even the government had no clue about anything that is going on and all they look for is the money they would be getting as moving outside will increase their expenses.

And yesterday there was a BCCI meeting. As expected, they have delayed the decision on the T20 World Cup once again. The message is very clear - they want the world cup either to be held in India, or postponed to next year.
So the ICC is willing to delay the World Cup once again so that the BCCI could conduct the IPL. They should have cancelled the entire tournament if the ICC cannot come to a conclusive decision on when they want to hold the World Cup.

So if they are moving the World Cup to 2022 and if i am not wrong T20 World Cup is conducted every two years and will they conduct two World Cups next year, In January 2022 they will conduct the 2020 edition and by December will they conduct the 2022 version Cheesy.

There are so many possibilities:

1. BCCI is adamant on conducting the tournament in India. England, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand.etc would refuse to participate. In the end we may have a 6-team or 8-team competition instead of 16-team championship.

2. BCCI agrees to move the tournament to the UAE.

3. BCCI forces the ICC to postpone the tournament to 2022. In that case the next year's world cup needs to be either cancelled, or postponed.

Also, the ICC is still complaining about the lack of clarity on tax liability. As per the Indian laws, 46% of the revenue needs to be paid as tax. If the tournament is conducted in UAE, then this amount will be waived off. The BCCI has announced that they will be willing to pay a part of this amount, but ICC wants them to pay 100% of the tax.

As expected they took the right decision but took it after the mess. IPL 2020 was a huge success but 2021 is a huge mess. I completely agree with you it's BCCI's greed that caused this problem. Most of us won't be intrested in watching the matches now.
IPL 2020 is almost the same as 2021. The entire game has been conducted without audience. In the same pattern 2021 IPL took place, but inbetween there arose an issue with the covid-19. With the rest of the matches taking place in UAE there is more chance of allowing audience to watch the matches.

I doubt the BCCI would take another chance and allow audience after the disaster they had conducting the tournament this year and there were many suggestions to move the entire tournament to the UAE but the BCCI rejected everything and now we all know what happened in the end. They will be more strict and since their reputation is at stake if they are forced to cancel the tournament yet again, i am sure they will be more careful and the bubble will be much strict than they used to have in the past.

All the players were in the bubble and yet there were able to test positive from multiple team members which was confusing as to how a situation like that could happen and not sure whether they did any investigation to understand the issues between the breakage of covid behind members of different teams as well.

What is the date they are planning to conduct the IPL, will there be any change in the match schedules and i would like to hear more about those.

This happened because some players ignored the safety protocols for various reasons thinking they would be safe with a mask on their face. It's as simple as that.

They are planning to conduct the remaining portion of the season in the Sep-Oct window though they haven't finalized the dates which will probably be revealed sometime next month.

A total of 31 matches are remaining. Maybe they should go for 2 matches per day and finish the tournament in 15-20 days. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to start by third week of October. There needs to be 1-2 weeks gap in between, as most of the players who are taking part in the IPL will also be playing in the World Cup as well. It will be easier for the teams, if UAE hosts both the tournaments, but as far as I know the BCCI wants to conduct the World Cup in India (despite the recent surge in COVID 19 cases).

This happened because some players ignored the safety protocols for various reasons thinking they would be safe with a mask on their face. It's as simple as that.
Not sure whether they ignored the mask, there were talks about some of the players going to hospital for checkup and they will be following the standard procedure of wearing a mask and they did not return to the bubble and was quarantined but instead started mingling with the players inside the bubble and that is how the virus started spreading inside the bubble and those were the talks during that time.

They are planning to conduct the remaining portion of the season in the Sep-Oct window though they haven't finalized the dates which will probably be revealed sometime next month.
So we are almost certain that the World Cup will not be conducted this year, not sure what the plans are but the proposed date for the T20 World Cup was October this year and if they continue with the plans then the work schedule will be tough for the players.

The BCCI have already planned to conduct plenty of double headers in order to wrap up the remaining portion of the season quickly.

https://m.timesofindia.com/sports/cricket/ipl/top-stories/ipl-will-tentatively-start-in-3rd-week-of-september-10-double-headers-in-three-week-window/amp_articleshow/82942567.cms

Also, the BCCI will be able to conduct the T20 World Cup in India as long as the cases continue to drop just like in recent times.

However, if the cases rise or if there is a third wave of infections, they will probably have to give up on hosting it in India in my opinion which would be the right call.

This is just craziness! Yesterday there were almost 200,000 new cases and more than 3,000 deaths from CoVID 19 in India. I don't think that any of the other countries would agree to play in India. Out of the 16 countries, a majority are going to pull out, if the world cup is staged in India. And the BCCI never cares about the health and well being of the players, as seen from the debacle we had during the IPL. But the other boards can't be so careless about the safety of their players.
