ice i dont know your issue but wtf mate, MAID aiming for something good here...the fuck is your issue?  did u work for them and they fired you or some shit?  you obviously have issues.  if you fud at least do it on true shit coins from scam devs or something.  thus far MAID seems to have solid work (takes bloody long yes) but also bots/eyes on it with steady vol's at each major exch.

not sure i guess you're in monero?  i've made money on that just like i hope to with maid, playing swings because monero is manipulated just as much (if not more).  and honestly i dont know much about it but it seems like nothing special to me.  well maybe something special about it but using it? lol fuck that...useless real world from what i see.  i wont be using MAID either unless they come thru, but anyway...they could use MORE updates here yes.

you need to go get a hooker or something and some crack, chill the fuck out.  i mean not sure if your fud is doing anything but whatever, cheap coins for some of us.  i dont think you're "holding it down" so i dont have to say "stop fudding you're killing my chances at making money" cos if/when MAID moons it'll be without you apparently.

I've got 3 issues.

1.  MAID is ancient Kad-based tech that still can't do what Freenet did 15 years ago, yet aspires to charge for the same services and presumed to collect IPO money for vaporware development.

2. MAID's old tech is being hyped by bolting on some trendy "MOAR BLOCKCHAIN" stuff via a Rube Goldberg layer of SafeCoin rigmarole.

3.  Inquires about issues 1 & 2 are met with hostility, speculation about motivations, personal attacks, and very little technical disclosure.

Now I've answered your question, please address one of mine.

Do you feel MAID is by default automatically due respect, or should it be forced to earn respect by demonstrated real-world utility?

maybe noone cares about the dated tech view when the basic outline provides something we like as is. personally i dont care what tech is being used and how dated it is. that says nothing. using old stuff in new ways is also innovation. and regardless, i like the structure of maidsafe and its roadmap for what it is. the rest does nothing for me. noone's hostile to you. i think just annoyed by your negative baseless assertions and your line of questioning.. personally i dont care for the answers to the questions ur asking.. so maybe you should just go have a chat with the dev like a mature adult would if they wanted to get the details. instead of making a big fuss on the forum like noone wants to talk to you and then creating that self fullfilling prophecy of noone wanting to talk to you. lol

u sound like such a whny panderer...

oh cry cry dont buy maid, hate it for the reason i hate it or dont believe in it".

i dont care bud. the reasons u hate maid or dont want to invest in it are all yours. i bought in at 15k again.... so you cry.. while i smile.. all the way to the bank.

I will NEVER invest or do ANYTHING with respect to the troll-coin that iCEBREAKER continually talks about. iCEBREAKER is constantly spamming and trolling and several threads. I refuse to quote the troll-coin and nor should you.

I like the part where you deflect criticism of Maid's outdated design and failure to launch on schedule by shooting the messenger.

We can't expect a noob like you to be aware of it, but I was speaking my mind before 99.99% of all altcoins existed and won't stop just to appease some whining pleb nobody.

Don't forget to rage-dump all your BTC and rage-quit Bitcoin because I continually talk about block size, Satoshi, cypherpunks, etc.

What's that?  You were just blathering empty promises and forgot I've owned BTC since 2011, but are not actually willing to act on them?  Yah, that's what I figured.  It happens a lot, but the stupidity of LOLcows never gets old.   Grin

well maybe if your replies werent so pointed and even biased we'd consider your replies seriously. but we all know what ur doing. ur like "obvious.. troll is obvious". none of the information uve posted on the forum in your argument is useful, or even relevant to maid. its a shame, uve been working so hard to market other options to maid community and the price has barely moved in all that time. also not one of those options can replace maid for what it's intended to be. maid's uniqueness is in it's structure. maid longevity is in the time and dedication put in by the devs thus far with positive results at every new turn. this is why i have invested in maid. ive invested in maid's longterm goals as an early investor. not any of the things you've pointed out or are trying to point out anyway. lol. the things you're pointing to arent even reasons anyone would care to consider whether investing short or long. lol such noob troll.

k whoever, pls stop dumping maid you're making her look like a whore!

Maids almost a one man show trading wise that's why i dint buy in even tho i like the idea, totally controlled. He slipped up about 3 days ago and flashed 6million sell wall while stacking down.

yep someone bought 6million maids at various price points. but the dumping is causing greater distribution which is good at such low price points. here we separate the holders from the shorters. enough holders means that many have in their minds a high value for maid.. and that is what will set the overall price.

cant say that im worried about the price slipping further. just an opportunity for other investors who wanted to get in before to get in. im quite confident that maid can maintain a 30million dollar marketcap. i mean.. really.. that is nothing. its bound to do a 100million+ marketcap when mvp is released. the next major rise could be quick and quite sudden.

will maid go back to 13k? no way.. i cant believe it. but at the same time if it does id be happy to get some at 13k since 17k is the cheapest i could get it for.

lol 13k.. no way... never. id bet money.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 15, 2016, 08:18:34 PM
yeah im talking longterm. demand for safenetwork's encrypted distributed redundant backup with autofailover data storage and service hosting (yeah thats a mouthfull)will grow. and with it, each request for service will require maidcoins purchased on the market to be used in the transaction. so yes, regarding the guy and his birthday funds, invest shrewdly as usual. or as i tell all who i advise to invest in maid for the longterm. "dont be greedy, but get some maid, some for you and some to trade". basically, reserve some storage on the network at the best price u can. especially if you understand why you would want to use that service, then i wouldnt have to tel anyone this. but there's more to investing than just deciding how much to spend. u keep up with latest news and daily trade averages to decide if you can surely exit and re-enter for a cheaper price holding a larger share. maid may make some moves in the short term, but the real demand for service will come after safenetwork goes live and people can get to work with a real product.

in a sense we're just basically at a second stage ico where we have to pry initial investors coins out of their hands and tempt them to give up portions of their share. they took a large risk investing in maid so early. at this stage our risk isnt that high because we at least have a working demo and a product we can see is nearing delivery. its just down to.. how much storage on maidsafe you want to keep for yourself, And how much you want to invest in the projected level of demand for this technology. because i believe the devs can and will deliver.

so the whales will play as they say. in the meantime. but once things go live, growing attraction will secure the 20k-30k price points easily. the trick here is in making sure you've secured your position when playtime is over.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 15, 2016, 06:29:12 PM
I Think the wales are keeping the price of this coin down, when Maidsafe will be implemented in banks and Ethereum, the price will go wild!
Soon Is my birthday and I am going to invest my birthday money in a few coins And this will be one of them, I just hope the price hasnt skyrocketed by then 17 march, what do you think guys?

at this stage i think we're good for anything under 30k considered cheap. yes the live release will be wild. i dont see any reason why almost every website on the internet wont want to transfer to maidsafe network. its so simple and userfriendly to operate and you get soooo much security. so yes i have no doubt.. live will be another story. some people think this is speculation price, but i think its actual early bird demand. speculation might take maid over .008btc a share. and yes i honestly think that is realistic. considering demand will not use their coins for trade but to buy storage on the network.

Yeah, you are a tad more optimistic than I am. What I see is a coin that went from 3500 up to 30K... currently waiting for MVP, so at least 1-2 more chances to pump higher.

After release, who knows. One would think it'd fallback, but it depends on if whales want to keep pumping after MVP to a certain point. It will fall back at a certain point, happens with all coins... question is where it ends up, and when whales decide to withdraw.

dont really want to make it a conversation about price. but i can identify a major difference between maid and other coins.. and ive been around for a while. maid coins actually have to be used. in other coins you can use their features without the coin.. except for the great masternode coins which just let alot of ppl hold while the devs dump. this is different. u dont own maids, u dont get to use the network. that makes it a viable business imo. not traditional crypto pnd because there is a real possibility that you may want to store something on the network at some time in it's lifetime, and then.. what would be the price?? less than 10 cents a share? if i owned a website i would transfer it to maidsafe network the day of release. but i dont own a website.. but guess what.. maidsafe technology has made me now interested in having a website(s) and utilizing couldstorage to backup any data i need to keep alive for eons without fear of it getting erased. writing books, documentation of inventions etc can all be stored securely on safenetwork.. so the demand will be real. even if u see a 350btc buy it isnt a pump.. its someone buying in for real and those coins are gone.. waiting for release so they can upload their data. i dont see it as optimism because of the math ive done behind demand for this type of tech and the available supply.

and well not many maids sold at 3500. the ico price was 5500.. so at 25k we're only looking at 5x.. and how many ico holders sold on the way up thinking it would go back down.. and then.. it didnt. i got in late though. i watched it rise from 12k and decided to get in at 17k after i read about maid. i was confident that even at 17k my investment was safe.3 weeks later.. and its proving that to be totally true.

the reason why this will work is because the maid coins are tied to the safe network. u cant get into the safe network without owning maidcoins, you cant upload to it's cloud storage network without using maidcoins to buy safecoins. i explained it in layman's terms is all. finally, when you purchase safecoins, the maidcoins used for the purchase will be burned. reducing the supply of available maid left on the market for btc trade. i hope that basic math can take over from this point for you.

What a kludgy, convoluted mess.

Not only does it resemble the NAUT swap fiasco, the "burned" supply goofiness smells like the Counterpary and VIA failures.  These Rube Goldberg ICO and shell game IPO schemes never turn out well for anyone except the guy that took everyone else's Bitcoins.

As for "basic math," I'd love to have some explanation of the cryptography behind Safecoin's alleged private/untraceable/unlinkable properties.

But every time I ask, I get a different answer.  I'm not seeing an advantage over SIA or Storj here, to put it nicely in an understatement.

Currently the Maidsafecoin is held on the Bitcoin blockchain

Omni blockchain ready to be used , the whole 70 GB :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1101724.msg14006462#msg14006462

It is blockchainless , so truly anonymous .

well maybe maid isnt for you and one of storj or something is better. but based on what ive read and demo'd on maid its the solution that i prefer. maybe later on when you develop a need for maid's services it may seem more appealing.

when the Safe network goes live and you'll need to convert your Maidsafe coin to Safecoin

That 'exchage-the-one-thing-for-some-other-presently-vaporous-thing' thing didn't exactly work out well for Nautilus.

Why will Maid work where NAUT (miserably) failed?

safecoins are kind of not really a coin. they are a unit of storage space on the network.. so by purchasing safecoins, ur purchasing storage space. as u upload to the network safecoins would be deducted from your balance based on how much storage you use. at least this is what i understand it to be.

You are a Hero member, yet still must post a disclaimer explaining nobody really knows WTF Maid is.

The New Internet®?  A mirage?  A chimera?  No wonder the pumpers get so defensive when you try to pin down specifics.

umm i didnt say that. bottom line is the reason why this will work is because the maid coins are tied to the safe network. u cant get into the safe network without owning maidcoins, you cant upload to it's cloud storage network without using maidcoins to buy safecoins. i explained it in layman's terms is all. finally, when you purchase safecoins, the maidcoins used for the purchase will be burned. reducing the supply of available maid left on the market for btc trade. i hope that basic math can take over from this point for you.

And as a Vault you don't win the lottery when you have a very populair chunk  Tongue.

thank you. i get it now. though it wasnt the angle i was thinking it was, this direction provides many more possibilities with regards to web hosting services.

so basically you earn more, the more resources you provide to the network on a continual basis. so we're looking at maintaining uptime efficiency, and upgrading resources based on demand for storage and upload capacity.

next question.

will the network be able to host and retrieve information from within databases uploaded to the network? in the instance that we upload a website that relies on storing, retrieving and adding new records to one or multiple sql databases. will this be inherent or something we could see as a feature on safe network in the foreseeable future?

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: March 02, 2016, 01:25:53 PM
is it possible to have maidsafe network in such a way that storage space, cpu power and bandwidth can be rented?

e.g. i want to upload 1tb of data to maidsafe network for safe keeping. so i should pay a daily rate per mb of storage on the network.

e.g. i want to rent some cpu power from maidsafe network, or bandwidth to do some ddos testing. i should pay in safecoins for the use of these services. based on how much resources id like to use and for how long i want to use them.

or is it going to be strictly about accessing content? meaning i can store 1tb of data indefinitely for free as long as i dont access it. just upload and it is stored for the next 10 years let's say until i access it then i pay a few safe coins for downloading? i ask because if theres no rent cost a user can host say 20 tb of maidsafe data for users for years but gain no income because those users just uploaded and dont download or access their uploads.

as a service provider aiming to maintain a 24/7 uptime, how will i mitigate my running costs if users dont access their uploaded content hosted at my node?

No, not rented. You pay to upload data, say a picture of your dog only once. And it will be there forever. If it's 3 mb. it's chunked into 3 pieces, each chunk it stored by 6 Vaults. So 18 Vaults will hold your data.
When one goes offline, the group notice and find another Vault to store your chunk. When you store "structured data" that is data that you can change, you'll pay some more. But same idea, pay once and it will be there forever unless you take it off.

There is talk of getting Safecoin to do calculations using your CPU. But this will take time, first they want the network up and running.

You can acces your data as many times as you want. Even if you upload a Hollywood blockbuster movie public to everyone, you pay once and everybody can watch it for free forever. When data becomes populair there's a bigger chance the chunks are in cache as well next to the nodes that have it in a Vault. So data becomes faster when more people request it.

Chunks are spread over the Vaults depending one XOR-Address (who is closest to the hash of the chunk in XOR) so you could see it as random due to the structure of the addresses on the network. So when you offer 1 TB. you'll might see your Vault filling up with over 1 million chunks of data. You hope as a farmer that some of these chunks are requested so you make some money. If you don't make enough money, you might put down your Vault and when enough people do this, the network notice it's running out of space so the reward for every MB. delivered to the network will go up. And in that reward is all your cost, from storage to bandwidth to whatever. Otherwise, why would you run a Vault and store data for the network?? Maybe some people will just to support the network, so I think we'll see very low prices to store data on the network. Will be way below google drive and other is my expectation.

this is just my opinion, but i think because of the enhanced security and redundancy maidnet could be more expensive than google. companies pay good money to secure their data and keep data backups.

but back to the original post,

ok so i pay the network to upload data and the users that actually host my data get paid in safecoins. but then i can download from the network free of charge? so i can access the data i uploaded repeatedly over the course of a year at no extra cost?
