721  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it safe to click on google ads? on: August 12, 2014, 01:55:12 PM
It's very unlikely for a Google Ad to link to a page which will infect your computer. That being said, why click on ads? Heck, just install AdBlock. It will make your life a lot easier.
722  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to sell? on: August 12, 2014, 10:15:53 AM
If the OP did indeed sell his 333 BTC in Feb 2013, then let this be a lesson to every bitcoin holder:

If he had held to today, his $5000 initial investment would now be worth ~$193,000.  You never know what is going to happen and when.
Of course, if he sold at the peak, it would be worth more than double that.

If....if....if....shouldn't waste time on that. If you could predict the future with absolute certainty, $193K would be small change.
723  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ban the person above you (jokingly). on: August 12, 2014, 10:09:21 AM
Banned for not knowing that bitcoin physical gold coins exist.
No, they don't exist. Bitcoin is not transacted physically and you cannot send bitcoins through the blockchain without the use of electronics. A gold coin with bitcoins on a paper wallet within the coin is not a physical bitcoin; it is a collectible/novelty with a paper wallet. The term "physical bitcoin" is a complete and total misnomer.

Bitcoin is essentially electronic cash. Irreversible, nearly untraceable (just like cash, which is traceable - through the serial numbers), and without limits. If bitcoins were physical, the only difference it would have with fiat cash is that it's not fiat.

Banned because you forgot to ban the person above you, and in doing so, violated the rules of the thread.

...but, at least it's good you live up to your name. Tongue

Banned for not understanding the difference between "forgot" and "doesn't give a shit."   Tongue

725  Economy / Economics / Re: Does BTC.com Really Worth $1 Million? AND What Would You Do With it? on: August 12, 2014, 09:50:38 AM
I'd have to believe it's a calculated risk and potentially could bring a large return of the initial investment.  The domain name could be worth a large amount if Bitcoin really catches on in the long term.
If BTC goes to $100,000, do you think BTC.com will be worth $200,000,000? The most valuable domain name ever sold was insurance.com for $35 million. I think potential gains in the bitcoin price will outpace any potential gains in a domain name.
726  Economy / Economics / Re: If it is only buying and selling on exchanges, how do you think they are profita on: August 12, 2014, 09:45:48 AM
Bitstamp and btc-e are only charging user fee on matched trade.

I have not heard allegation of them trading against their customers.
Yes, you have heard allegations - in the above posts. Of course, these are really just suspicions, but they were presented in a suggesting way.

In a nutshell, exchanges profit from trading fees. They usually do not make much profit off of withdrawals. Some of the exchanges make even more money off of using the information they have at their disposal to their advantage.
727  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: Hero Member forum account 1k+ activity 1k+ post count on: August 12, 2014, 08:30:32 AM
Can we let this thread die please? Let's not keep proping it up for anyone else to get any ideas.
Says the guy who just propped it up again.  Wink

STOP SHOUTING!!
728  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Hero3+ GoPros on: August 12, 2014, 08:10:01 AM
^ Confirmed scammer. There are no instances where he'll send first, contrary to what he says in the OP (He only sends first to trusted members, but if it's a trusted member, then he wouldn't get scammed). Escrow ensures that no one gets scammed, so if he denies using escrow, then that just confirms it.

He was also definitely violating the GoPro reseller policy by selling through a forum.

I think its a good rule of thumb that whenever someone on this forum has a "connection" and can get stuff for prices no one else on planet earth can seem to, chances are, they are scamming.
It's all just BS. Did you read some of his responses? He can't take pictures because they're being sent from "his supplier." That directly contradicts previous statements about buying them in bulk at an event. That was like 5 pages ago and I'm really surprised that this thread is still going...like people couldn't tell this was a scam 3 weeks ago?
729  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Hero3+ GoPros on: August 12, 2014, 08:05:43 AM
Damn I wanted one of these two. My guess is he's been arrested for receiving stolen goods and/or for trying to sell goods he stole.

Edit- someone mentioned seeing them at industry events for that cheap? Anymore info on that?
Not a chance in hell. There's maybe a 1 in 10,000 chance this guy was arrested for trying to sell stolen goods.

However, there's a 99.99% chance that he was trying to scam people by getting them to pay without escrow. He accepts your escrows in order to still appear legitimate while trying to find buyers who will pay without escrow.

730  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: First Ponzi Service on: August 12, 2014, 08:00:08 AM
Only in the crypto world would a ponzi scheme be something to be advertised and "invested" in intentionally. Ridiculous.
OP does say it's gambling, which it is. Gambling is illegal in the US without going through many legal hurdles and licenses, so running a ponzi like this with USD in the US would be illegal. However, running a gambling operation like this is in no way different than running a dice site, which would also be illegal in the US.

Running a ponzi scheme and pretending it is legitimate is a scam. Running a ponzi scheme and telling people it is a ponzi scheme is not a scam. People are free to make their own choices with their money.
731  Economy / Services / Re: [AUCTION] Signature & info panel for rent [six-month+ term] on: August 12, 2014, 02:22:00 AM
The above 5 posts literally happen everytime someone is auctioning off something good. I mean, literally everytime. When will people learn to use the 15-minute rule?

Do you have collateral?
734  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Brand new Xbox One Kinetic Bundle With Receipt on: August 11, 2014, 02:56:53 PM
We can buy an xbox one on amazon for $400 with free shipping..
Get some decent amazon.com gift card deals on the digital goods subforum and you've got yourself a really good deal...
Thats why no one wants it here.. try ebay/craigslist.

welllll yes and no. yes they are on amazon but no they are not cheaper. This bundle is on amazon but no one is allowed to sell it except amazon....i know this because i tried listing it there. as for $400 yes there are systems there for that price but they arent the bundles with the camera and the racing game doesnt come with it either not that many care about the racing game im sure lol.
Doesn't matter; no one is going to pay $450 for it on here. Try Craigslist/eBay or drop your price down.

736  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.05 Loan needed 20 percent interest on: August 11, 2014, 02:43:41 PM
wtf is collateral.if i need a loan and have also! collateral why am i open a topic here instead of just sell my collateral coins!

you guys so smart...
People generally hold altcoins because they think they will increase in value in relation to bitcoin. By requesting a loan instead of selling them they are able to reap potential gains from the altcoin while still utilizing the money they have borrowed.
737  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.05 Loan needed 20 percent interest on: August 11, 2014, 02:34:32 PM
I will gladly give the loan with your account as collateral.
738  Economy / Lending / Re: Need Loan BTC 0.2BTC to 1BTC on: August 11, 2014, 02:29:42 PM
I respect your view.Yes im very new here just try to get loan to start business and not forcing anyone who can lend me. Of course will send all my script first to serious lender plus 100% guide if they want to start online business.
With all due respect, you're a newbie asking for a fairly large loan with what is essentially zero collateral to anyone who is not a newbie. You could post this thread every day for ten lifetimes and not once will anyone loan you .2 - 1 BTC.

I am doing you a favor by telling you not to waste your time. You'll have a better chance asking a friend/family member, assuming you can repay. Try some other way. Good luck.
739  Economy / Lending / Re: Need Loan BTC 0.2BTC to 1BTC on: August 11, 2014, 02:19:16 PM
Your scripts have no value as collateral, as you still retain them after you "send them" as "collateral."

Your account is brand new. Do you seriously expect to get a loan here with this as collateral?
740  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does anyone get 1 BTC every day? on: August 11, 2014, 02:15:07 PM
If just thought of a way you could earn it. Get one bitcoin and send it to one of those bitcoin doublers every day - 1 bitcoin profit a day LOL.

Seriously, don't do that. You'll lose a bitcoin a day.
-1 bitcoin profit per day, you mean.  Grin

That's what I said. See bolded part.

See bolded part. Would have been a cool grammar pun if you used the separator as a negative sign.
