581  Economy / Lending / Re: loan request on: August 27, 2014, 11:47:40 AM
I can do it with your personal information as collateral.

Here is what you would need to do:

Supply some form of personally-identifying information such as an ID with your username written on a slip of paper. And then a selfie with your ID held next to your face.

The information will be held strictly confidential. If you would like to encrypt the message so as to not share this information with anyone who accesses your PMs on here, I will happily provide a public PGP key you can use to encrypt it.

If you default, I will not share your information unless we do not come to a repayment agreement. In the case that you do default, you can erase the debt by forfeiting your account to me. I would consider that repayment of the debt, as your account is likely valued around the same as the loan amount.

The Monalisa has no eyebrowse.

OMG, it's true! Shocked

Mind = blown. I saw that picture so many times yet goes unnoticed! Masterpiece by Leonardo...
Actually, it used to have eyebrows. However, due to overcleaning and time they've faded and nearly disappeared.
583  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cheap, reliable computer to use for cold storage? on: August 27, 2014, 10:39:08 AM
Cold storage is not really a cause for headaches its simply requires a USB or just write your info on your diary.

USB is not secure at all. Writing to paper is ok (assuming you do not make errors).
What is insecure about a USB? Obviously you shouldn't be backing up to a single USB drive (or a single piece of any media for that matter), but it's plenty secure for bitcoins.

584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how do i invest in bitcoins? on: August 27, 2014, 10:32:47 AM
Don't mine, don't start a business, don't buy into altcoins; just buy bitcoins. You'll come out further ahead than you would by getting fancy.
585  Economy / Services / Re: Craiglist posting need on: August 27, 2014, 10:29:46 AM
I can do it for $4.
586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin slowly losing its popularity? on: August 27, 2014, 10:25:39 AM
It seems like bitcoin's popularity ebbs and flows depending on its value. Generally speaking, it seems like the popularity isn't really connected to the price - growth does not necessarily occur when the price increases. However, the feelings of the people in the community seems to depend upon the price.

Use and merchant adoption is what really matters.
587  Economy / Lending / Re: Needing .02 btc to place order tomorrow on: August 27, 2014, 10:03:41 AM
Use LocalBitcoins and you won't have to deal with the 4-day turnaround.

Something terrible happened. Both this loan address and the other one I made were sent to other people. Although this is obviously my fault, I am upset that you didn't check that the address was clean (it has previous transactions). I guess i'm not upset at you, just upset in general. Luckily I was able to locate the person who I sent bitcoins to for the other transaction, but not this one.

Don't worry I will have no problem paying it back. It's just an annoying mistake. I wonder if the person I sent them to even has access to the wallet anymore. It would kind of suck if the coins were to sit in that address forever. Taunting me.

Think, usagi, think. March 6th, 2014. 0.175 bitcoins. Did I buy something? Hmm.
I'm sorry this has happened. I was much more concerned about sending it to the correct address, rather than whether or not that address was clean - which so far has not been normally requested.

I've been doing some analysis of this address and I found that the owner of the 12MVspMShYYoQgHrMG4SQsXhPS7WxsEkFX sent bitcoins to address 17zeqpQ7QcQ8kTSBWhnNzs2FwtnUAqymgp, which belongs to the user leobitco. Of course, that is not much of a lead since he hasn't signed on in 1.5 years - just doing all I can here in the hopes that it might refresh your memory. If I were you, I'd attain the email for that account from a moderator and then send him an email or give him a phone call if the email leads to that information  - doubt it will work, but it's worth a shot.

repaid! ty

unfortunately it does not appear as if I will be able to recover the funds.

Thanks for the timely repayment!

589  Economy / Lending / Re: 100BTC Loan (Secured with House) on: August 25, 2014, 09:41:51 PM
I can do this, if you can secure a home-equity loan with which you purchase $100K in Litecoins with to use as collateral.

Thanks for your interest but that does not help the cause as I would be taking a line out of my house directly and paying interest in two places. There is no benefit to that method as I would just go to the bank and get a loan directly if that was an option but it is not.

Joseph
In that case, you might be better off just taking a line out on your house directly and forgetting about bitcoins.
590  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan request ... on: August 24, 2014, 09:07:47 PM
There is a very small chance that I would be able to do this. The payback amount would have to be tied to USD if bitcoin significantly drops in price, as January 2015 is a long time from now.

However, you would need to provide full collateral. I think the guitar could fetch nearly $2K if it's in perfect condition and it is sold correctly. If not, then likely more like a grand like this one. Here's one that possibly sold from a guy in Brooklyn.

I can't find much about the base, but it looks like you're only going to be about halfway there in the absolute best-case scenario.

Unfortunately, your emotional attachment and/or the appraisers price does not accurately reflect what value a lender on here would put on these instruments.

How about your bike as collateral?
591  Economy / Lending / Re: Lend 0.0015 BTC Paid less than 24hrs on: August 24, 2014, 10:59:49 AM
Yes, I got nearly .002 BTC back. Trust left.

Source code or it's wallet stealing malware.

No exceptions.
Everyone, please listen to this guy. He knows a lot about stealing bitcoin wallets.

I had to ask my buddy to loan me his torque wrench today. Does that count? Tongue
Yes. I have left corresponding feedback:

Also interested in knowing the name of the course.
595  Economy / Lending / Re: Why do trustworthy people rarely need loans? on: August 21, 2014, 08:51:42 PM
Probably because people who are trustworthy already have the coins...honest people usually have their shit together.  Grin
Says the guy who is currently borrowing 5 BTC. Tongue
596  Other / New forum software / Re: Improve forum and built strong community on: August 21, 2014, 03:09:58 PM
Can you elaborate a bit more about what you meant by great and fantastic features? Cool Cool
I don't think OP even has a clue how this works, why the forum is how it is, why bitcoin is how it is, etc. This isn't even posted in the correct forum. There is already a discussion going on regarding the new forum software and it's on a whole different level than just switching it over to vBulletin (which would be the most insane and terrible idea ever, by the way).

You can't just switch a forum like this over to a closed source and weak forum software like vBulletin.

"Yeah, let me buy drugs with bitcoin through PayPal. Right.....

That defeats the fucking purpose of buying drugs with a semi-anonymous currency, you moron!"
598  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.3 BTC | Return 0.4 | Collateral on: August 21, 2014, 02:32:29 PM
Not a valid collateral.  You can easily claim it back using social engineering.

Can you tell me example valid collateral? But sorry, I just can give this account as my collateral. Because I have balance on this account. I don't think my twitter account as my collateral. Hehe
Valid collateral must be irreversible. Your Forex account is not an irreversible payment and therefore is not valid collatera.

I am sorry about the circumstances, but you have roughly a -10,000% chance of getting a loan on here for that amount without collateral.
