No specific date can be given for 3.0 but 6 months time from now should be enough to deliver it.
Principles of coin rollout plan wouldn't change and once we hit 2.5 million we move into a downward curve PoS reduction (that's the only significant change here) which will make the coin rollout feel more natural rather than have a sharp drop. When we reach 2.5 million is up to how much people stake as the trigger is not set to any particular block number/date but sure 2018 is the year.

600000/1300 = 460 days
if more coins participate and claim POS rewards then a bit faster
if more coin age burned by transactions without claim POS rewards first then a bit slower
its hard to predict POS participation
the POW part is easy to predict its around 170 DMD a day
so yes it will be most likely 2018
regarding DMD 3.0 release the 6 month is a plan
we all know that there can be differences between plan and final result
that can go in both directions we can even finish it 2 month earlier
or 5 months later.......
Q3 2017 is the plan for release of DMD 3.0
means we aim for a release in area July - September
in a pretty similar timeframe (Q3/Q4 2017) we hope to release the first UCA service with positive economic impact on DMD
there we see a release in multiple cycles
which means a working prove of concept with base features
and follow up releases that add additional abilities and "fluff"
