521  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: October 02, 2014, 06:20:52 PM
Got my 4 s1 blades in last night and a few usb to uart converters. Undervolted to .8 @ 2.6-2.7. With cgminer run it was getting 45-60 ghs, it worked without any options set, also just the basic freq setting worked. Turned it all off and now it won't set freq, still have .8 volts.... so i tried another board without undervolting real quick to see what the issue was and it started to hash. So maybe I have a dead board now? I have a few more boards on the way as well.

I'd check the poolside hashrate, because 60 GH undervolted is way over what I'm getting.
I assume you are using the old U2 cgminer build from bitmain?
so for a recap to us the less hardware type guys, you guys solved the hardware part and having trouble with compiling a suitable version of cgminer that will control the boards (or the chains of boards)  ?
To summarize,

We can say that the HW part is solved or almost done.
Taugeran branch will use the original chips used by Bitmain, so it should handle 2 hashing units without any trouble, and software should work as-is.
I decided to follow a different route to allow more hashing boards to be attached, and control units to be chained.
This route will need some software hack to allow multiplechain with the driver from the U2, or to allow proper detection of the hacked boards with the S1 driver.

My protoype PCB finally left china today, so I'll have them delivered worst case on monday by DHL.
Then, soldering, and tests.
If I did a good job, they will work, and I'll send some to people who offered some help on the software.

Looks like my proto PCBs are stuck at the customs.

DHL tracking

CHAOSiTEC, the FPGA arrived today.
I'll have a look later.

524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GRIDSEED G-BLADE Overclocking 7Mh/s on: October 02, 2014, 11:21:45 AM
got same problem like harpss1ngh like i understand ferrite bead possible to change with 0 ohm resistor. correct?

PS: my Blade still not moded with 39k resistor, but all heat sink, cooling already done.

Only if you have a high quality ATX PSU and 18AWG power cable, (although that's what everyone should be using, not the crappy DC adapters.)

I do use an ATX PSU but I still ended up ordering a Ferrite Bead 100mhz@330ohm 1.5A of size 0805 from the bay to be safe:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181410119006

The ferrite next to the USB plug is only for usb filtering, so your power supply doesn't matter.
It does matter for all the other ones next to the power plug.

I finally received my universal JTAG adapter, so I should be able to extract the firmware from the blade.

If I succeed, I'll post a link to it in this thread.
525  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 2x Hex4M (2x 400ghs) within UK - escrow fine if you pay fees - in hand now on: October 01, 2014, 06:08:06 PM
I might be interested in 1 shipped to France, plus your failed S1, and 4 heatsinks.
Delivery via ups access point will be fine and almost cheap using parcel2go.
Is 150£ + shipping ok for you.
Hi, thanks for the offer but I'm looking to sell the kit as a single lot, for simplicity. I'm just waiting on some shipping costings back for a chap in sweden, I want to use signed for shipping for escrow proof purposes which bumps up the cost internationally. I could possibly include the shipping within the cost of all units depending on the price I get back later today if that's any help.

Ok, let me know, I don't need the tp-link, and I'm still interested in the dead s1 alone for cheap.
And UPS accesspoint is signed delivery.

Got my quotes back for shipping to France & Sweden. For you I'm happy to use the UPS access point. The difference between including the S1 on shipping is apx £14. I'd do the two Hex4M new unused. I'll throw in free the 8 intel heatsink-fan units that I got in advance of the boards manufacture (up to you to work out how/if at all possible to fit, and bear in mind my notes that I was going to run these undervolted so the TDP of these fans is lower than required for running at stock speeds), delivered to europe via UPS Access Point for £300. If you want the S1 for spare (as-is non-functioning condition) I'd ask an extra £10 contribution to the extra carriage. I'm not really interested in splitting the S1 out on it's own as it's just a free sweetener for someone who might get some value out of it. No TP Link (but I'm offering EU carriage instead). How does that sound?

1.3 BTC on BTC-E gives 309£ right now.
It's ok for the lot with the S1. I PM you for details

Boards should be picked by DHL tomorrow and reach me by Thursday.

Nice :-) did you get the cairnsmore 1 yet?

Not yet, French post office can be slow as hell when they decide to.
For some orders, rest of the world to France can take 24 to 36 hours and then 5 days from Paris to me (I live 2 hours from Paris)
I hope it will arrive today tomorrow.

I'm wondering if a CP2104 could be used to add in the throttling that the Bitmain driver does for temp/fan control?

8 )
Simply use an AMC6821, if you want/need temp/fan control
http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/amc6821.pdf

There is also a multichannel one from another manufacturer I've checked, but can't find it right now.

Just got my hands on it

http://www.maximintegrated.com/en/products/analog/sensors-and-sensor-interface/MAX31785.html

I haven't checked more in depth, but they are 5V (meanning you can use the usb to power them), and since I decided to go with manual adjusting the speed + undervolting, they weren't needed.
530  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: September 30, 2014, 04:20:28 PM
I want Antminer S1 controller for few blades too. I have server racks and server U cases, fans, spare servers psu etc...
Want some for fun DIY project to build down clocked Antminer S1 blades build in to it.
Only need controller, hope your projects succeed and I can buy or build locally controller board!

My project will be open, at least the schematics as shown in the thread so if you want to have fun, you can use it and build a board.
But there is still the software issue until I have the prototypes ready and sent to the software guys.

Or you can use the opensource files of the original controlboard available in bitmaintech Github.
I haven't even checked how much it would cost to build the original one since it was way less fun than to build more or less from scratch.

532  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] your defective Gridseed/Zeus, or SHA256 miners (and other brands) on: September 27, 2014, 05:49:13 PM
Just got one from SpAcEDeViL, thanks.

Still looking for more dead miners.
Anything starting at Avalon 2 efficiency for SHA256 would be ok
Any Scrypt miner would be fine.
533  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: {WTB} PSU Breakout Board for Dell Poweredge 2400 on: September 27, 2014, 05:42:40 PM
From what I've seen, they are 330w PSUs.
Might not be enough for what you want.

I can make custom breakout boards, but it's not cost efficient for only 1 PSU.
Starting at 5 PSU, I can usually have something done for around 30$ each board excluding shipping.

In your case, you'd better buy a cheap server PSU and the breakout boards already made for them, like the ones I'm making, or the ones by Gigampz and sidehack.
I ship from Europe, so they might be faster and maybe cheaper than me, it's up to you to check and choose.
534  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Breakout Board Adapter or Server Power Supply on: September 27, 2014, 05:36:06 PM
It won't be cost efficient to make breakout board for only 1 psu unless you do it yourself.
Starting at 5 breakout boards, something can usually be done with a price around 30$ each excluding shipping.
Not sure for this particular model, I havent checked.

So unless you own a few of these PSUs, you'd better stick with the Gigampz boards, the ones I make or the ones made by sidehack.
I ship from Europe, so depending on where you are, sidehack or Gigampz could be faster and maybe cheaper.

Is this still being looked at as an RPi project?

It seems to have evolved into a Linux and USB based solutions

Not really linux limited, since cgminer also makes it hashing on my windows laptop.
536  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: September 25, 2014, 01:57:55 PM
And here is the routed board

Trim pot at the top left is here to allow fan speed control.
537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: September 25, 2014, 09:29:02 AM

i have 20 blades so i would definatly like something like 8 connections :-p

and might have more on the way :-p

Stop buying them all and let some for me  Grin

I'm ordering 10 PCB for 2 boards to prototype. They were the same total amount for 5 or 10.
Should receive them by the end of next week.

Next quick project while waiting for them will be uncovered soon if it works as expected.
538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: September 25, 2014, 07:09:25 AM
Routing of the board finished, but needed thin tracks and clearance I'll have trouble making at home.
I'll order a few PCB directly from a manufacturer.
All components are in hand.

The small board is 5x5cm or 2"x2"
It will allow 2 ant boards to be connected.
The big board will be almost the same size with either 4 or 8 ant boards connectors.
Both should allow daisy chaining using mini usb cable.
539  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Antminer S1 Blades [too cheap] on: September 24, 2014, 07:14:25 PM
i have 4 antminer s1 blades for sale send me any offer and i can send them as soon as possible Cheesy
Where are you located?
40$ for the lot?
540  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: September 24, 2014, 09:20:41 AM
ok, I am interested in buying some.

good work J4bberwock.

For now, we still need to have cgminer and/or bfgminer to work properly with the boards.
The current cgminer only uses multichain when it detects the proper USB>UART chip ID
So we are only receiving hashes from 8 chips out of 32.
