How come the thread was locked a while ago?

Bitcoin bull to the moon in 2015

Aww.. The poor bull thought he's finally going to the moon... He didn't know he wouldn't be able to put his helmet on

B-bull donīt need no helmet for space.

Itīs just there for photographic effect.

Space helmets are for wimps?
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: extend the 21m bitcoin limit on: December 31, 2014, 08:30:19 PM
bitcoin has its value because of its limited supply, if you want to see a lot of coins in your wallet then you should give a try to altcoins like Doge that have big supply, do you think that bitcoin will stay same if total supply is increased?
it will crash badly

There were some alts that reduced their total coins due to be minted to increase the price. It worked, and increasing the total coins due to be minted would probably crash the price.
204  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 31, 2014, 08:14:55 PM
Disregard short squeeze. People are not incorrectly reading bad news as though it were good news like they normally do. Bring on the end of the world.

haha
I was waiting for someone to try and spin this further delay and uncertainty surrounding the ETF as good news, but it seems not to be happening. I think they've spotted the snipers in the bushes  Grin

You sir are trying to do the spinning  Roll Eyes

No sir , just calling it how it is  Wink
If I am spinning, please explain to me how further delay of something that people are eagerly anticipating for a boost in prices is positive. Clearly their last submission was not approved or they would not need to submit another one. Clearly this pushes back the timeline.
At best it's neutral if you were not expecting an imminent launch.

The whole news article was complete misrepresentation and omitted most of the facts. That is spinning ... or just piss poor journalism  Wink

+1

I almost took the author's word for it. Thankfully others took the time to do some proper research.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The Mintpal "breakdown" on: December 31, 2014, 06:07:35 PM
Was the upgrade to V2 just a scam to stall people and get time to cash out?

I'm not sure, but it might have been. The v2 was a complete mess that never really worked. Some people's balances conveniently disappeared after the swap over.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The Mintpal "breakdown" on: December 31, 2014, 05:00:40 PM
You can read the long version here.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=824211.0

Mintpal was sold to a scammer who kept changing his name. He stole all the bitcoins and ran away with them. A UK court case about it is ongoing, but the last I heard nobody knows where the scammer is. Other people helping to run Mintpal have returned some of the low value shit coins on there to people.
207  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 31, 2014, 04:51:43 PM
based on the filed in 2013 its 1mil shares worth 0.2 btc each with price point at $100/btc and propose IPO share price of 20$/share

Based on this alone, thats 200k BTC valuation irrespective of $$. I dont really know a whole lot about this but would Winkle's have to physical prove that they have in their possession 200k btc worth to file this with the SEC?

Wasn't there some alrge movement of btc in the last few months, would this account to proving ownership?

They don't have to move any coins to prove ownership, they only have to sign a message from an address holding the coins.
208  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Enough People Loose Their Money, Will Bitcoin Go Into a Long Bear Market? on: December 31, 2014, 04:49:05 PM
^"Troll" is a word bitcoiners used to discredit inconvenient facts.  Now that bitcoin experts have been shown for the goofy buffoons that they are, the word has acquired new meaning, something along the lines of "the guy who didn't drink enough bitcoin Kool Aid" Smiley

Is this post your "expert" opinion on what bitcoin's price will do, or you taking the piss?

I'm sensing enthusiasm, gentlemen. This thing is getting ready to blow launch, last call!
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when altcoin will be all dead? on: December 31, 2014, 04:24:25 PM
They will all die when Earth will explode i think that is planed for 2017

Sounds like we need a 2017Coin  Grin

A cloner would probably clone it and call it TheEndIsNighCoin
210  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this approval? on: December 31, 2014, 02:42:18 PM
I'm surprised they can file anything over the Christmas holidays.

213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How in the FUCK are you supposed to know what's legit? on: December 31, 2014, 01:18:32 PM
Is the stock market a virtual gold rush?

Well, I would say that the stock market was wild west in the 60s and 80s, when everybody thought they could make a fortune on stocks. Instead of Miners, they were called Yuppies Smiley

OK yah
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alternate Cryptocurrencies Keep The Price Of Bitcoin Down on: December 31, 2014, 01:11:08 PM
I think altcoins in general are a bit of a joke. There are a few that are innovative, but I think their future is relant on bitcoins success, not the other way round.

Most alts are bitcoin with a different name. Changing the name is the devs only innovation.
215  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Enough People Loose Their Money, Will Bitcoin Go Into a Long Bear Market? on: December 31, 2014, 01:08:17 PM

So whyt would happen if the majority of the community now would just put no more btc sale offers lower than maybe 380 for now on the exchanges??

It's nearly impossible to get the majority of the community to agree on anything.
216  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: December 31, 2014, 11:12:55 AM
For crying out loud, it's already been established that it's a mute button. Don't you read earlier posts?

So...   what does this button do, after all? Tongue  Grin  Cheesy

It shows the calculator here

http://hodly.sale.qualitytoyschina.com/pz5a06c7b-desktop-calculator-with-8-digits-auto-power-off-and-durable-plastic-key.html

Key Specifications/Special Features:

Big display and 8 digits
Keytone
Suitable for offices, financial and business calculations
It switches the power off automatically if there has been no key entered for about 5 minutes
Calculator size: 116 x 85 x 21mm
Packaging: 200 pieces/carton
Carton dimensions: 48.4 x 45.2 x 25.5cm
Gross weight: 17kg
Net weight: 15.5kg

It's a good guess that it's a mute button, but the specs do not specifically say that's what it does.
217  Economy / Speculation / Re: Official What will be the price of Bitcoin on Dec 31, 2015 on: December 31, 2014, 10:54:53 AM
It will bounce between one cent and $100000 on December 31.

Now it says

last processed block: 61972 (2014-12-30 22:48:10 utc, 45s ago)

edit]

There is probably something wrong with your browser. These are the block times mine shows when viewing the block explorer.

block: 61660 - 2014-12-29 22:08:46 utc

block: 61661 - 2014-12-29 22:15:50 utc

block: 61662 - 2014-12-29 22:26:15 utc

block: 61663 - 2014-12-29 22:29:11 utc

How can the last processed block be 61661 (2014-12-29 22:22:06 utc, 1d 0h ago) when the next block 61662 was generated on 2014-12-29 at 22:26:15 utc?
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you should take a look at peercoin as a investment option on: December 30, 2014, 10:39:12 PM
Almost all the alts have crashed in value since January, and the chart shows peercoin is no different. Why should we expect it to rally now?

220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How in the FUCK are you supposed to know what's legit? on: December 30, 2014, 10:21:21 PM
Haven't you thought of the gold rush?

I would say we are in the middle of 21st century gold rush. It will probably be as the last time, a very few will be lucky and the rest survivals will not even earn bread and butter. Smiley

Well, a virtual goldrush. But there are more than one similarities between this and the wild west: there's quite some people digging for digital gold, people trying to steal that digital gold, you can gamble with what you find and when your equipment wear out there's plenty of shops to get new gear. Hell there's even hookers that'll accept your digital gold.

So when looking for legitimacy consider your own observation: the streets don't change, only their names.

I don't think they had blow in the wild west though. Hookers yes, blow no.
