I agree that the community is not really where it should be for us to collect the money. Not only that, but forking a coin a changing its fundamentals usually kills it all together. The switch to PoS will not increase our value. It's taken me a bit of humility and learning, but I've come to decide that we need to change direction with this coin. What we really need is a new system for donating to science. Switching algo may be something that can come a little down the line, but at our current state it may be best to refocus on what we are really supposed to be doing with EMC2.
My goal now is for Einsteinium is to create a website much like Kickstarter or Experiment.com specifically geared for funding science projects with crypto. People will be able to create projects and receive votes / funding directly in EMC2. Above that, it's time that we rebuild our coin team from the ground up. I will update very soon.

I'm willing to put a switch to PoS as the leading agenda, but I haven't been able to find a single developer to do it for free (or take a sizable amount of EMC2). It may be a bit cheaper to get a website created that helps us fund science using EMC2 first. Otherwise, there will need to be some funding involved. In any case, I know the community wants PoS so hopefully I can find the right developer who's willing to take on the task for EMC2 bounty. Let's put EMC2 on track, with a rising price and some donations maybe 1 or 2 devs will be willing to take on the switch to PoS for EMC2 payment. To further add on my post, because I feel I threw an alternative that wouldn't be realizable. I'm currently one of the top 3 holders of emc2, if I were to make a sizable donation based on what I own, it would still be quite a bit less than the amount needed. So, at the current market value, it's a great amount to raise, what I own right now used to be worth about 20k, I think everyone here is in a similar boat, further investment from current holders has incentive, but at another risk for a more than comfortable chuck of what their investment is currently worth. It's not that 3btc is a big fee, it's just a fee the community isn't really able to absorb at the current market value.
So here's my suggestion. Why not make the new Dev the recipient of the next (or 2) wormholes? It gives him incentive to do a good job, it potentially gives him more money than the flat 3btc fee, and it's actually realizable. And it also goes towards "helping science" if it's funding a system TO fun science.
The reason we chose BTC instead of a EMC2 donation is because of current market value. The developer needs money right now in order to pay for the time it will take to begin to implement the changes. Upon payment receipt, it will be the his decision to buy back into the coin while prices are still cheap. Otherwise, the rest he can cash out to pay his bills. If we pay him 3btc in EMC2 directly, it would take a sizable portion from myself or from holders and it's just not a very reasonable decision at current market rates. It's not only not a reasonable decision for you OR anyone else at current market rate. You have to ask yourself, why would someone take a risk and pay BTC to make their past investment worth a little more when they've already lost so much. It's 1 thing to Baghold until now, it's another thing to Baghold until now AND further pay. Besides, I'm not sure emc2 community currently has the confidence to send 3btc blindly. I'm not coming at you or anything, but things went sideways here, some things were planned and never ended happening and you were recently associated with a potential scam (like I said, I'm not coming at you, I think I actually like you). But I'm stating the current facts. 3btc collected just isn't happening. It has nothing to do with how strong this community is or not, this community just isn't in a state where it can do that. Your most loyal community members and biggest pockets already your post, I think it has been established that for no one thinks it's worth the risk / reward. So used your time wisely and don't waste it waiting on that 3btc filled and come up with another proposition. Maybe try to make my suggestion or something of the sort work out, or come up with something entirely different, or a Dev that would accept such a position without cash up front. And beyond the scope of the rest of my post, usually someone gets paid after the work is done, I'm not exactly sure why we're hanged by the balls and that it should be any different especially in a bitcoin world known for scams and jobs unfinished. I have one little restrain about paying.
It's the fact it would be paid in BTC. I understand why it's paid in BTC, but would like to see the good side of paying in emc2 take over. Paying a developer in your own currency gives incentive for a job well done. That payment can end up being worth much more. Of course it could just be reinvested in it instead, but raising 3btc from community alone at this point will be a hard feat.

just small question Did I missed today or last day any disaster??  0.o ?? Just checked vtc price last hours trades ... and ... ... yeah ... and ... so was any disaster or just like that ?  I still hold pretty much vtc (in these days price pretty little -.-) but stopped watching or caring much as anyway for me its like lost all (no way I ever sell it for current or lower price) of it or somehow earn later ... Just as I thought would happen, a massive no vote from the market. Devs please take note. The market price of Vertcoin did rise for about a day or two immediately after the announcement of Lyra2. The market was positive towards the algo change. However it was quickly overshadowed by the news of 'community infighting' over Subsidy Change voting. The market is not currently sane and only rewarding new coins for it's initial pump and dump. VTC was pumped way too high initially back when it was put on Cryptsy. Due to this we started to decline as the price was not maintainable and we slipped right on by our actual value and we now find ourselves where we are now. There's no quick fix to figuring out this issue. Anything we do as a knee jerk reaction will hurt VTC more than it will help. I'm actually at peace right now with the price. I feel we can finally focus on our future and stop watching the ticker. What happens next? We trust our dev team and support them as best we can. We allow them to focus on planned changes rather than forcing them to react to a mob mentality. Over the next few months we focus on the foundation of VTC. We start to co-ordinate a marketing campaign. We have a few months to take the currently planned changes and have lots of ammo for the release. We will see the second rise of VTC. What I hope will not be a pump this time but a slow climb back to a fair value. When this happens we can maintain the price and it should stabilize at this point. All the while we keep making things better, we get people talking about VTC, answer their questions, help them set up wallets, mining..., most importantly we welcome them. Let's take the next few months and stop focusing on price. Let me ask you this way. Has stressing over price for the last 3-4 months helped anything? Has the toxic environment on the VTC forums invited or sent new investors running away? If you want VTC to thrive you need to check your baggage and do your best to be constructive and helpful. It's so much easier to complain about something than it is to make it better. We need less of the former and more of the latter. Trust the dev team to do what they do best. Offer constructive criticism to make things better. Don't draw lines in the sand. If anyone is truly that upset about the direction of a coin to only say negative things I don't understand why you don't just sell and find something more to your liking. Whatever you hold whether it be 1 or 10000 VTC we want you if you're here to make things better and if not please feel free to sell me your coins and leave. To update everyone on multi-algo:
We have the myriad 5 algo implementation working as expected but we are trying to improve that implementation even more by using other algos with better mining performance for GPU users. Will keep you all posted.
Does this mean there will be more than 5 algos or will one of the new algos replace one of the 5? We will keep with the 5 algo approach but we may switch out some one the algos for new ones. We are testing that as we speak. Please tell me that Skein might be one of the possibilities, or SHA-256, or Scrypt, but not groestl. Tell us that groestl is untouchable, Please. Dev as I have already suggested you to move to a moderated thread if you don't want your days of hard work to be destroyed by some baseless accusations and FUDs. These people can do anything to defame a coin because they are being paid for it. MYR has a lot of people invested in it at higher price waiting for the price to go there again and if any coin will create a threat for it to happen they will do anything to destroy that coin. SFR will be the prime target because it is threat to many established coins, not just MYR. I don't want my investment to sink just because of some FUDs.
