Some of you might appreciate the irony. That a highschool drop out will make college level courses for Virtual Currencies.

I almost dropped out of high school. I am sure you had good reason but lack of knowledge was not one of them.

As of now we are leaning towards the $1/person + $25 Enter to wins.

I thought that event will be in the US, has the location changed to Malawi or Burundi? I mean if the capita per GDP is $300 like in those African countries then the $1 give away could be a very attractive deal for the poor buggers (no disrespect and God bless them it's not their fault their country is fucked-up), but in your place in the US to bother peoples with $1 gifts won't be rather counterproductive?

EDIT:
If here in Europe someone would stop me with a $1 deals and 10 minutes explanations I would wondering what kind of operation it is. I mean, would you really download an application for $1?

Well... the purpose wasn't so much to actually give them enough money that they can go buy something valuable - more so, so they can feel the experience of using digital currencies. Please keep in mind we are working with a limited budget. As much as I would love to hand everyone that walks by $25 we have a total of just under 12,000 VRC to be handed out. At current prices that's about $500 in USD.

If you would like to donate $5,000 worth of VRC to the cause I'd be more than happy to give each person that walks by $100 Wink

Edit: And trust me - I do marketing events like these for a living. You'd be surprised what people would do for a free hand out. Even if it's a pencil, $1, a free sticker. People do love free stuff. Again the more important thing to keep in mind is the fact we want people to #1 feel the experience of using digital currencies and #2 spark enough interest in the story that they want to go home and read more about it. This is not about handing out real cash to let people go out and buy things with it. That's not the purpose of the day.

OK I sent 200 more as I promised. Good Luck and thank you for your hard work.

5 hours to distribute the VRC.

lets say you get 12k, give or take. That is 2.4k / hour to give away, or roughly, 400 per 10 minutes.

You will find people have differentiating levels of interest, but you may need more time helping people with a wallet set up. so I would say 10 minutes a person, who you will be giving money to might be a bit optimistic.

Now, you multiply the amount of time by x amount of people you have working at the booth in this scenario.

Say you have 2x,3x people working. then you would have 20/30 minutes to give away 400 VRC per person. Most people will come in groups, and you will be able to get away with using the same time for multiple VRC gifts. Try to find the best balance throughout the day, see how long its taking you to help each person and use the math to create the best possible use of the funds, without over / under allocating them. Every person won't be ready to accept free VRC either. So if you can, make some paper wallets to give out some coins to those who use desktops or IOS.

I think VRC is in good hands! So keep up the good work. I just wanted to toss in some math to think about to help get the best result. I think you need to give away 400 each if possible, that is 20 USD, and it will hit a cord with people, any less they might think its not worth it.

Umm.. I have to agree with him $20 does hit a cord with people. I would be willing to give most people gladly 10 min my time for $20. The can easily go buy that new dvd burner they have needed for so long from newegg.

One final update in regards to tomorrow. As many of you may know I will be hosting a Vericoin booth at the Minnesota State Fair to help raise awareness of both Vericoin and digital currencies as a whole. We have tried to be flexible in regards to the time slot we have our space. Originally we had the space from 11am-4pm. Then I got a phone call asking if we could please move to the 4pm-9pm spot. Although we agreed to moving I did put a request in that if it would ever be possible we would prefer having our original time slot (11am-4pm). So I did just get a call last night saying they did some last minute rearranging and we are now back on for our 11am-4pm time slot.

tldr; we have our Vericoin booth tomorrow, Saturday August 30th from 11am-4pm CST.

This will be my last request for anyone that would be willing to donate VRC to be passed out to please use the wallet address in my signature. 100% of the funds donated will be handed out tomorrow during the event. Every coin helps! Even if you can spare 25-50 VRC.

Thank you everyone for the support. On a final note - it's raining all day today, suppose to rain all day Sunday - and Saturday is suppose to be a beautiful day! Everything seems to be going out way Wink

I sent you over a small amount now (50). Will send you something bigger when I get out of work tonight. Thx.

Which one is the better investment Crypti or Vericoin? I like both coins, but the Crypti community predicts skyrocketing Crypti performance and stagnation for vericoin. What you guys think about vericoin price for the next 2-3 months? Would you invest 10 BTC in vericoin right now or better to wait for the floor?
I like the direction of the coin. I bought 6 btc when it was around 25k once I really looked at the coin. I have slowly been buying since. The devs transparency and honesty helps the coin in the long run but also hurt the coin in the short run. Like warr1979 said it was gearing up for a good hard run but Mintpal.....

The thing about crypto is time moves different. A week is like a month. A month is like 3-4 months. Good things will happen and the Mintpal crap will be forgotten soon. Another thing about crypto is what doesn't kill a coin only makes it stronger. Enough believe in the coin to keep it strong. I am sure the devs are in it for the long haul. Keep a coin strong and fresh and like a tree it will grow.

I am not telling you to invest. I don't give investment advice. I pushed the buy button and I life with the consequences whether good or bad. I either blame myself or pat myself in the back.

Hey altcoinUK,

We all get it - you don't like the coin - you don't like the community. I was gone for a week and just quickly scanning back over the last 15 pages I saw 1 in 3 posts were you just bitching. So we get it - you are upset with this coin's progress and the way things have gone. You keep coming back here to bitch about all the things that are wrong with this project.

Why don't you just leave then? Instead of wasting all this time & energy bitching - go find a coin that you like and go support it. You're just as bad as the cheerleaders who scream 150k price coming!!1!

Hey X!  Welcome back.  How is the fair going?

PS: Thanks for not quoting fud. It make the forum easier to read. [Ignore is great, btw.]

Hey! We are pretty much good to go on the fair!! There were some last minute hiccups in the time slots so to help everyone out we ended up moving our time from 11am-4pm on Saturday 8/30 to now 4pm-9pm on that same day. Since I got back home we've received;
- Vericoin Business Cards
- Vericoin flyers with QR code
- Vericoin T-Shirts
- Vericoin poker chips
- We also have 11,585 Vericoin to hand out during the event itself. So we're in great shape to have a wonderful night Smiley

We'll also be aiming to do a live call-in to VRCRadio during the event to give some real-time updates on what's going on and how the crowd is loving Vericoin Smiley

- Cheers

See Angrycoin crew. This is what I mean! Xosihc got out there and did something.... which I thank him for. He got out there and did something!

the sad part it is about 3 guys. 2 of them i confuse cause they say the same exact things over and over, but add there 2 cents on who ever replied to them. such a waste of energy instead of looking for another coin. what they fail to realize is no one cares but still want to force feed the anger. if they know so much why don't they either find another coin that satisfies there needs or find a dev to make them a damn coin with the debitless debit card system.

You want price to go up? Is that the deal? Well get out on the streets and tell people about the coin. If not sell and buck.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: August 23, 2014, 07:55:08 AM
This request for a "moderated forum" is as absurd as the demential cheerleading ... and, peculiarly enough, by the same usual suspects... They have had Veritalk for a long time, fully available. They have reddit. They have the orgiastically cheerleading (and fully censored) IRC channel but, hey, they still want yet another thread. In actuality what they want is a censored place, one more, where no voices of dissension are ever heard. I'd say go for it: It is very, veri easy: Just create the damned thread, moderate is as much as you want and get done with it. I mean you are quite pathetic already but if you want to be even more... Get it through your thick and idiotic skull: No one, but a half dozen altogether, will ever go to those stupid places, ok? You want you coin dead? Just close this thread... or, to be more precise, follow in the footsteps -as in so many thin gs- the Blackcoin example: They have "flourished" indeed, since they opted to close the non moderated thread. But hey, you are dying to commit harakiri anyway so be my guests...

THE VERICARD POOF...

As I had anticipated since the get go, the "secret weapon" (still nothing about the plural announced by Stooge #1), has turned to be a "poof", a queer fart of no relevance whatsoever.

OK, it is following in the tracks of Blackcoin, again and, like BC, condemned to be a huge failure.

Some here have pointed out that it is a step towards mass adoption... No it isn't. Mass adoption, as clearly pointed out in my raw flyer for WVD, passes by presenting any and ALL forms of credit cards, as the bad guys along with the banks. Jane and Joe Sixpacks would be piqued by Vericoin PRECISELY, because it is the OPPOSITE, direct OPPOSITE of banks and credit cards, not an enabler.

I dont give a flying fuck if someone has sold the Stooges on the idea that it will "make it easier" for average people to use crypto currency. Average people will never use crypto currency because it is easy to use -which is not to say it has to be complicated, mind you-, they will use it, paraphrasing Anthony Quinn in Lawrence of Arabia, "because it is their pleasure" and will to do so. Because they want to circumvent the banks and their credit cards, NEVER, EVER, because they want to make them fatter... as well as Coinsis or whatever the name of that intermediary is. The WHOLE purpose, the whole selling point is to eliminate, precisely, those parasites, the intermediaries. Jane and Joe Sixpacks understand VERY CLEARLY, that if they don't use intermediaries they don't have to pay for their offices and the multi millions in salaries their executives get. Both Jane and Joe get that immediately. From their wallet straight to the merchant or the friend or family member they want to gift across the planet. THAT is EASY. This is BULL SHIT. Again. No one will ever use it, no one. Just like no one uses Coinkite or will ever use Moolah. The whole PURPOSE of crypto is absurdly diluted here. The whole thing couldn't be simpler: From my wallet to whoever I want, merchant or partner, direct, immediate and without any (or almost) cost. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. Joe and Jane will GET IT, no question about it. Just like they smell bull shit in ratios of miles, like this "deal" is.

Now, UK doesn't "get it" either when we talk about "mass adoption". He's quite right when he states that mass adoption is a pipe dream. It is. It will continue being, even for BTC, as long as the volatility is so brutal. Makes perfect sense: Businesses, of practically ANY size, but obviously the smaller the less, cannot afford such volatility. So ANY adoption will necessarily pass through the cryptocurrency of choice being converted to fiat IMMEDIATELY. That's not adoption! That's another form of using intermediaries (and paying for them) regardless how you want to call them. So the barrier is not just BTC, the barrier is the PRICE of the coin. And as long as that price is not reasonable stable, no merchant will ever operate in crypto. They may accept it as payment, just like they accept VISA or Amex, but charging for it what those companies charge them (3-3.5% or more). In crypto they will charge whatever they are charged for the immediate conversion to fiat. What are they  after -Coinsis and the merchants that accept crypto, along with the dozens of other intermediaries? they just want to tap, as paying customers, the community of dickheads in crypto, those idiots bent on using their coins to buy stuff believing they are opposing the system when, in reality, they are making it fatter, paying even bigger fees to a new horde of centralized intermediaries who, like the established ones, just want to suck them dry.

Mass adoption, passes through, first, MASS AWARENESS. And then, price stabilization. That is coming very soon when people will be able to short BTC (and others, eventually) through derivatives, just like in the rest of the markets. It is coming VERY SOON. Along with regulation. Those coins positioning themselves as the good guys, will survive. Those paying for the bad guys, probably too, I don't know but if their tech continue advancing like until now, they stand a chance to be ahead of the feds. But the good guys will eventually cross over when their gains -and losses- will be no more than 5-10% at a time (cycle), not before.

And guess what? Those surviving -and thriving-, will be the ones that GET IT, not the ones that cater to the credit card lobby.

So the Vericard, pretty much like the rest of the "features" is an exercise in nothingness. Nothing bad but certainly nothing that's any good. Vericoin was much better without it... except that it was, and remains, a helmless ship, totally at the mercy of capricious winds and without path or purpose.

Hey you are also Buy4Crypto or are you 2 different people? Sorry if i'm confused and not trying to offend if your not.

You all want a forum when there is one.

www.veritalk.info is where you have to go to clear your mind off this thread. Still a fun thread though...

I started VeriTalk by myself and currently have little time for it. If any of you would like to take over and make it an active community thing I'll be glad.

But then again, this thread is an epic comedy. Always worth to keep an eye on... Smiley
I am signing up now. thank you.
1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: August 23, 2014, 02:25:07 AM
We urgently need a moderated forum!!! Please prioritize changing the wallet link to another place. Its amazing the level of articulated stupidity some of the fudders of ours achieve recurrently. Pages and pages of stupid considerations and go-nowhere arguments.

So we have a VISA debit card available for VRC. Is it bad? Is it mandatory? Of course not, for both questions. You can have one if you wish. Positive! If you don't feel like you want it, just ignore and move forward. Adding such POSSIBILITIES will allow every user to tailor his experience. Positive again!

Oh, but the company providing the card is new. THAT'S SIMPLY GREAT!!! This is called innovation and we're all here to support business models and technologies which have never been implemented before. Positive yet once again!!!

Will it work? Are there risks? You gotta be kidding us, stupid idiots! Of course there are risks and YES, the community  supports risky decisions BECAUSE we're here to INNOVATE.

Finally, its always expensive to connect new technology to legacy. Everyone knows that. But for the transition from the old to the new, integrating legacy is a MUST. Therefore, a VISA debit card is great news with great importance in the next few months/years, but irrelevant in the long run. By definition, a good tactical move with few strategical implications. Fair enough, good enough. Good work DEVs. Thanks!

Right on! I remember the Blackcoin community was in turmoil till the thread shut down. They are doing the same thing with coinsis and they are no where near as negative. Ultracoin started out promising till one of the devs gave into the FUDDERS amd he started rants. They had a great coin but innovation stopped after the coin was made.

I checked out the veritalk forums but not much volume. I think if this thread is shut down then it will force people to veritalk or reddit. Plus you have to go page by page and so much reading to catch up.. veritalk is easier cause if you don't like the subject you look for the next one.

i skipped through alll the fud lol VISA MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!! woot woot I'm fkn dancing ! this is HUGE news!!! let the haters hate!  we really need a moderated thread now... vericoin is getting really serious now and with all this and VISA, we need a place where the investors can go and get real info without the spam from the regular...

even with news like VISA their still trying to fud bahahahhaha

great job vericoin!!!

here come world!!!

 spread the word!!!

VRC-CC!!!!

You are the same guy who got mad at the developer of "NEOS" just days ago wanting him to put out his wallet early, cause you tied up btc in a ICO from bittrex. So you pressured him with others to get the wallet up so you could trade the coin. You have yet to offer any value to any coin aside from pumping a coin you hold.

This is the type of person this is, and this is the value he will add to vericoin.

If this is the future of VRC FML, its over.
LoL... oh come on. Be positive about something. He is happy, lol. Get positive bro everything is not doom and gloom. Say something positive about the coin and devs without it being followed by the negativity... I dare you. Try it. Might make you feel better.

We take things for granted around here but my mother and other old people listen to my wife and I go on and on about crypto. They can get from one step to the other but don't understand it enough for all the uses like smart phones. A card is perfect like Yoshi stated earlier. I know plenty of people that bought btc early but its been siting on coinbase for over a year because they do not understand it enough or are to lazy to learn.

c'mon guys.. one step at a time.. devs can't be doing everything at once.. we are lucky they are still here and haven't run away.. look at P&D coins.. it took bitcoin 3+ years to get where it was.

card is great IMHO.. it will help in the mass adoption.. for starters anyway - for people who are too lazy to learn the technical side of digital currency
damn great point +100000000000000000

Keep in mind it is human nature to want choices. Bitcoin is not everyones first choice or why would there be other coins. Can Vericoin overtake Bitcoin? Doubt it because the devs would have to have millions backing them as the Bitcoin industry/cap is in the billions. Can Vericoin get a piece of the pie? Of course it has a chance at becoming the #2 coin or atleast a top 5. Vericoin devs are smart enough they figured out not just a way to become "an option" in alts but tag along side Bitcoin with veribit.
