how is 0.9.4 going?

the hashing algorithm has to be optimized first. (see yassin post about porting java code for GPU computation)

Oh thank god. I don't have to come to this forum anymore.

is this forum the house of trolls or what?

So if China owns a large portion of the system, we're doomed? But what if bitcoins are centralized in America or in Europe? It's going to be an entire story, right? I mean, once again western power has an influence to this point.

Why would it make a differene if btc is centralized in Us or UE instead of China?

more efficient solutions are emerging. Bitcoin was just a step.

369  Economy / Speculation / Re: The halvening is now officially fueling up on: May 07, 2016, 06:23:16 PM
if the price doesn't increase, will the halvening induce more centralization (little actors will not have a sufficient ROI to continue mining) ?

372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your bitcoins? on: May 07, 2016, 07:04:51 AM
cold wallet with the private keys hidden in 2 different places
I think it's pretty safe using cold wallet. but is it give you the flexibility to use the wallet in various places? it seems you need a purse like that if you have frequent transactions

talking about the ones i hodl. For the 'little) quantities i use for shopping and trading, i just store the in an online wallet.

We should maybe all use GigaIotas (GI) for trading here. Giga or Mega will most likely be used by the exchanges I would guess.

How do you calculate how much GI your Iotas are: "your Iotas" / 1 000 000 000
Put that in a calculator and you will get your balance in GI Wink

By the way, the total supply of iota is 2779530283277761. In GigaIotas that  is 2 779 530.28328
So a total supply of around 2.8 million GI Wink

I like "Giota" instead of GI or whatever.

Where can I download the new IOTA client?

Thank you.

Testing has been paused until next version.

is there a summary of in progress actions on the code? It's difficult to follow what happens on the chat.
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: April 25, 2016, 08:39:37 AM
wouldn't be more secure to store a hash instead of clear seed? (I think it is stored in a file, but I don't have the code here so maybe I'm wrong)
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: April 25, 2016, 08:18:31 AM
I think some people have a concern about the fact that the seed is stocked in clear in the config file.

regarding this, is some material like ELI5 explanation, infographics, powerpoint or whatever available to ease people explain Iota ?

I think some materials are available (like PowerPoint) and some are coming very soon. If you need anything you can ask David.

We've had powerpoint/google slides available for months, which has been used at IoT meet-ups. We can tailor it for each event. But soon there will be a new website explaining IOTA with graphics and info in more easily digestible manner (right around launch), as well as a video explaining IOTA in 2 min that can be easily sent to people/shown before a presentation.

But if anyone got some infographic skills that is also appreciated

I would be interested if you give a link to find these slides
