i think we should start to use kIOTA or mIOTA as units. exchanges will have to use batch-units anyways.

be careful:   1 mIota != 1 MIota

1 MIota should be it imo.

yep:
1 MIota = 1 megaIota = 10^6 Iota
1 mIota = 1 milliIota = 10^-3 Iota

Anyway, the iota's being not divisible, the mIota should never be used.

3) Be an active community member that go to IoT meetups and conferences, network, get people interested

This is easy, it really works and it eventually pays !
I did a lot of Bitcoin & Cryptos meetups in France and now people pay me to learn about it.

Start some meetups in your city now !

Exactly. I think people just mentally over-complicate the issue of how easy it can be to get involved and engaged. You don't require some hyper-extensive tech background or even business background to get some connections. Then just forward it to the foundation and we'll do the rest and you'll know that you've been productive. It's infinitely better than complaining at BTT

regarding this, is some material like ELI5 explanation, infographics, powerpoint or whatever available to ease people explain Iota ?

Glad IOTA got rid of decimals!!! I just got to get familiar with big integers. Wink

BTC always looked strange from the first place with all these decimals.

you don't need to use big integers
just use this:

1 KiloIota = 1 kIota = 1 000 Iota
1 MegaIota = 1 MIota = 1 000 000 Iota
1 GigaIota = 1GIota = 1 000 000 000 Iota
1 TeraIota = 1 TIota = 1 000 000 000 000 Iota

The holiday here is from 30th April to 2nd May, so personally  I prefer the release on 3rd of May.

All dates are ETAed.

That's much better then endless "this week"-s

"This week" was actually the estimate of our UI dev, but it seems he's unable to deliver too. This would then be the 4th UI dev that has taken a relatively simple job and inexplicably not be able to deliver. Welcome to the world of depending on workers to work. So in this case we'll piece it together ourselves. I have given the UI dev deadline of answering tonight if he can finish it or not, if he can then release will be way earlier, and if not then the ETAs CfB put forth will be the ones to rely on.

isn't the UI dev Wesley?

I cannot believe how many users are buying without escrow!
These are thousands of dollars you are giving to strangers on the internet.

Seriously: ALWAYS USE ESCROW.

if things turn bad, the reputation of Iota will be damaged. It will be an excuse for it-is-a-scam-trolls to come here and shit around on the community.

»»»  It has been announced that a simple GUI is here.
It will have send/receive Iotas.
Iotatoken is currently in talks with 6 large exchanges.

When we say "last chance" that's what this is.
If you wanted in on the ground floor, that train is leaving.

15 hours and I'm closed.

lol! who takes you still serious? that must be your sixth "last offer"  Grin

believe me, it will be taken seriously when one of these 2 guys will say "thx you for your contribution to my wealth to the guys who bougth me without escrow"
Do we have a proof of ownership of their stack?
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [IOTA] IOTA Speculation on: April 11, 2016, 07:38:10 AM
these 2 guys who says they are big iota supporters but sell all their stack.... My bet is they will not give anything to the community.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: April 08, 2016, 01:04:59 PM
We are 43% funded for the foundation! If everyone who donated 10% or less doubles their donation we will be very close!

This should be an easy decision to make because the ones who already pledged to donate 10% or less already see the value in donating. They just need to increase the impact they are making!

OR, all those who have contributed to the "deal" could also pledge the proceeds from the sale to the foundation. that will make us at around 86% Cheesy

That's my plan from the beginning: 100% of the btc collected from the iota I pledged for the deal goes to foundation.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: April 04, 2016, 02:07:49 PM
Can we also put a "Donate 5% to the Foundation" button in the first version of the GUI?

I like this idea.

"To the moon lol" posts are just useful for hype. I don't think real investors like this.

We have for a long time the software that works very stable. The "beautiful" comfortable GUI comes later. But back end runs properly. My server is very stable. No problem at all.
This shows of course that any reputable company are not so much interested in the surface but for the useful revolutionary properties.

That is why we should push IOTA to the IoT related companies as hard as we can right now to build a ecosystem and be part of IoT ecosystem as well in real business world before other people start to copy and clone IOTA. All the IoT companies in the real world need is the back end software and API which we already have and they have the resources to develop applications and integrate IOTA.

We have prepared a list of IoT companies and a generic introductory letter for you to introduce IOTA to the some IoT companies. There are hundreds of IoT companies out there. If we can do 5 companies (random pick) per person we can reach out to hundreds of companies. Maybe your introcution will lead to a partnership between IOTA and a IoT company. Here is the list and the letter - http://forum.iotatoken.com/t/a-generic-iota-introductory-letter/56. All you need to do is to click a link to a company from the IoT directory and find out its contact email and copy/paste the introductory letter in your email and hit send.

Which company where contacted? (to avoid spam) Do we have a tracking list? Is Sigfox in the loop ? (100 Million cap.) Even Airbus has its IoT incubator, and there is a "Connected Camp" in the "IOT Valley" near Toulouse FR. Thank you for any information.
For more information: www.leconnected.camp, www.iot-valley.fr

oh thx for this info (I'm in the region)

sync with me on Ryver

will do this evening

This mean there will be a roolback on the current Tangle and a new genesis block will be created?

No.

lol ok, I will ask a non-closed question.
Can you explain what "updated genesis" mean regarding the fact the genesis block has already been generated for the beta?
