761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NHZ] - NeXT Horizon | fork of nxt | distributed by bounties | launched ! on: April 03, 2014, 01:43:01 PM
I have been running for well over 24 hours, and did follow the instructions to set up ip and hallmark.

Last night there were unconfirmed transactions showing I had multiple '333 amount' transactions that had not yet been confirmed.

I never closed the NHZ NRS program, but I did close the page in my web browser connected to localhost:7775.

When I pointed my browser back again and unlocked my account the unconfirmed transactions are no longer showing.

When will I get my NHZ?   I have been running as a node so if there is a technical glitch I am owed for the days I have not been getting paid.

These are a couple of pictures of me and my goat.

I love my goat.  Her name is Lily.

I can also post pictures of my cats and girlfriend, but Lily is enough love for one post.  I smile thinking about her.

We bottlefed her as a baby, and we did find her a home with other goats, so I miss her.

A good question you guys should be asking the owner is: What's his incentive to make sure the business flourishes?

In other words, if it tanks, what is he going to do with the stock? Sell it, right? Where's the money going to go? His pockets.

Unless his contigency was to hand it out to the community, but if that was the case he would've stood up an actual Corporation which would've allowed investors.

Jaymes probably should not have used the words 'IPO' and 'investor'.

Most coins are not real LLCs, and no-one has really pressed the issue, but an IPO by definition is offering of shares in a company to investors.   There are actual laws in place that regulate how they run, giving certain rights to investors.

Later it was revealed that in fact an actual IPO was not allowed in his state.  So why continue using those words?

I am not even sure it is legal how the IPO was ran.

What we need is the OP to pull his head out of his ass.

I cannot agree more.

I can't help but feel an air of arrogance surrounding the owner.   I hope he realizes that it is possible that he is making bad business decisions and might want to let someone else lead this business.

They have also refused to address most of my issues, and it looks like they will continue to do this.  There has been one question I have been insistent on getting an answer, and if they do not give me an answer then I am leaving the GPUCoin community.

Since we are investors (the word Jaymes used), I think we have a right to know what percentage of profits is being used to grow the company and how much Jaymes and associates believe they will be able to take out to line their own pockets.

@all:
I am starting to think that the coin is not doing that well as it is a bad period for GPU mining in overall. However...

A decline in the demand for GPUs is a factor contributing to this, but you would have to be delusional to think it is the only factor or even the main reason.

The way GPUCoin has been managed has been awful.  I think people who continue defend Jaymes are disconnected from reality.  Face it, he is a terrible businessman.  This entire business could be so much more than what it turned out to be - I am not sure GPUCoin will be the ones to make this business model work, unfortunately.

(in my opinion)

Interesting concept, it seems utopia.
Always goes up Grin Grin Grin, jesus christ, devs first at all you must read and understand economic theory!!!

Herzog Zwei was one of the best games ever made on the sega genesis.

"Unique mathematical equations were done to ensure the coin gets increasing value over time"

Here is another good one.

You just cannot guarantee this.

There is no magical formula that will force people to invest in a coin.

There is not other way for a coin to gain value than people putting money into the coin.
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] ↑ Up Coin ↑ Always going up! [IPO] Ever changing algorithm ↑ on: April 02, 2014, 03:06:03 AM
As you can see, the latest graph the dev posted and what he is saying practically proves he is trying to scam everybody.

Potential investors, if you do not have good bullshit detection skills then just trust those of us who are warning you about this operation.

If this were not a scam then the dev would not be making such wild promises and claims.  If this is a coin experiment the dev would be a little more objective and wait until the results are in.  If this was an experiment there would really be no need for an IPO.

No coin developer can guarantee increasing value.  They are promising a diet pill.  The only way to make a coin work is through adoption.  Functionality can help this, but really a coin will not gain in value unless people are putting money into it through use and investment.  There is no magic formula that can defy the laws of economics.

The dev throws some big words around, like 'mathematical', but really his description of the algorithm behind this magic coin is empty.  There is nothing new here, nothing innovative, and definitely not something that has been proven to work.

you seem to know lot of this coins features.
where did you get the full specs of this coin?
can you post them here?

I don't need to know about the features of the coin.

You just cannot guarantee the things the dev is guaranteeing. This is a fact.

"Upcoin will reward all traders and miners that hold their coins by increasing it’s value over time. "

Note this does not say that Upcoin has a good chance of increasing value, they use the word 'will'.

There is no mathematical coin formula that will guarantee this.  The only way a coin will increase in value is if people put money into the coin.

Here is another line:

"All this to ensure UP as a safe investment for you."

Not the word 'ensure' and 'safe investment'.

The owner is making a lot of guarantees.  This is a red flag right there.  Then add the fact that there is a no-escrow IPO from a newly registered user that encourages people to invest as fast as possible..  It is clearly a scam.  The dev is acting like a used car salesman.  I mean, look at that graph he just posted and what he said along with it...

IN other words, you change the difficulty and payout based on the current market price?

I actually had an idea for an adaptive coin that used machine learning algorithms to optimize certain parameters and lead to growth and stability.  (mostly neural networks Cheesy

It would be a dynamic coin that adapts to shifts in the market and learns over time.  As it was noted there are a couple other adaptive coins, but none of them are too advanced.

Except my idea was for an actual coin, and not a get rich quick scam.
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] ↑ Up Coin ↑ Always going up! [IPO] Ever changing algorithm ↑ on: April 02, 2014, 01:38:23 AM
I cannot believe people are actually interested and supposedly giving these people money.

Sad

It is clearly a scam.  The number of red flags is very high.  Too high..

Please think twice before giving these people money.

Unfortunately a lot of scams prey on greed and tell people that the sooner the more money they will make, so people are rushed into joining these scams without being able to think critically about them.

772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] InsanityCoin - coin for investors and traders on: April 01, 2014, 09:09:43 PM
unfortunately, this is not what i was expecting Sad. This cheap market is quite frightening for me.

this means there will be no pot next Sunday and there will be bloodbath in respect of prices.

It is all part of the game. Smiley  We had to expect some bloodbaths eventually.

A smart wolf might go buy up the sell orders and put a wall up at .001 themselves.  We need to push the price back up or there will not be a large pot next weekend like you said.
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] InsanityCoin - coin for investors and traders on: April 01, 2014, 08:52:57 PM
how to purchase coin this week, what is the new adress?

It is pretty cheap on the market right now.  Buy on the market to help us get the price back up while getting discount wolf!

Another problem right now is if you go on Amazon and search for 280x cards, almost all of them are cheaper than the GPUCoin store 280x.

I was a little confused at first and had to do some research to find out that the Toxic just happens to be a more expensive card.
Most consumers will not know this though, they will just see it as not as good of a deal.

For the next round you might want to get some regular 280x cards, not some overclocked special version.  You can have special editions but you should have a 280x that compares to the standard sold on the market.
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU sale Friday~ Get a TOXIC R9 280X for $300 on: April 01, 2014, 07:50:09 PM

FWIW, you're not investors, you're early-buyers. Not to like slap you in the face or anything, but that's just the case. You're an investor if you're getting dividends and returns directly from the company, which you're not. You gave them money to have early access to bulk coin.

Your 'investment' is in the value of the coin.

Yes I have heard this argument before, but I am going to continue using the word 'investor' because that is the word Jaymes used during the fundraising.  And because he described us as being 'investors' I will continue to act as an investor.

Regardless of technicalities, in spirit we are investors.  This is what we were offered and paid for.  It is not my fault Jaymes used loaded words such as 'investor' and 'ipo'.  He should treat us as investors.

GPUCoin, This is the last time I am going to ask.

I think the investors deserve to know:

How much money from selling the first batch of GPUs is going to be used to purchase more GPUs?

That is, what percentage of profits will be going to the pockets of the owners?

As investors, I think we have a right to know more about the business model used for the store including their strategy for growth, we also have a right to know how much the owner is making off of this venture.
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU sale Friday~ Get a TOXIC R9 280X for $300 on: April 01, 2014, 06:45:07 PM
Why do you guys think changing the output will fix anything? Whether it takes 1 GPUC or 1,000,000 GPUC to buy a pencil off of Amazon, it's still going to fluctuate. As was stated by someone else, the problem is the lack of usage of the business system. It's not a coin or mining or exchange problem.

Folks don't seem to be willing to "buy" GPUC in order to buy the cards. If they were, the market would right itself. What's the trade volume? Look at that, it'll tell you the story.

Also this: Mining GPUC to get a GPUC.. GPUC value goes down with BTC value.. this raises the electrical cost by a factor of 2.. so fewer people are interested in simply mining to get GPU's.

If more non miners bought GPUC through some method, and then purchased at the GPUC store, then you'd see a nice surge. Which goes back to.. the business frontend needing volume.

We could definitely see a number of changes to their storefront to make their business more sucessful.  There are some critical errors they have not fixed yet.

For example most people will not be able to use the store as they do not know where to obtain GPUCoin.  There is still not a single link on the entire store website that links to a page with general information about how people get GPUCoins.  People are going to pay a little more just because of how inconvenient the entire process is.  Search engines are not too helpful either.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU sale Friday~ Get a TOXIC R9 280X for $300 on: April 01, 2014, 06:33:40 PM
I've proposed a solution, similar to what you suggest, reduce subsidy at a certain point and hard fork..

But as I've said, i can implement anything, but it requires an executive decision from the CEO and owners of GPUCoin LLC.  Without that I cannot make these kids of economic changes.

Ok, this is (probably) crazy.... but... what if the currency was re-issued at 1/100th the volume of this one (200 subsidy, 135M maxcoins, etc)?  Is there some way current GPUC holders could convert to the new currency?  I know that's a bit drastic and perhaps impossible practically but something has to be done and cutting the subsidy isn't going to be enough IMHO unless someone supports the price during the transition.

Well, part of the problem is that because coins are being produced too fast the price is lower than was originally expected and because of this investors are losing a lot of money.  Converting to a new volume would not remedy that if investors have to convert their coins over as well.

The best solution will be one that ensures the investors can make money.

Contest - guess the price of first gpu (closest wins card)
http://www.gpucoinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2734

a contest thread over at gpucoinforum and I won!!! Woohooo

I guessed the closest price to the first 280x sold!

So today i get a email telling me they cant afford to send me a 280x but offered me a r7 240.

Was i the only one to think I was entering to win a 280x? Sad

very sad panda today!

I thought it was for a 280x as well, so don't feel too bad.  And you did get something out of it at least.

The contest was not just vague but misleading.  The wording implies the prize is a 280x.

It is somewhat shady.
