1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: From 11 coins to 2!.. BTC and PPC win for me and here's why. on: May 08, 2013, 07:35:49 PM
"BTC works - it really does work well."

This is patently not true.  Any arguments you make after this statement are based on a false fact.  There are plenty of threads arguing against the technical, economic, and moral aspects of bitcoin.  We don't need  to discuss them here.

My question, that you haven't answered, is what are Alt-TC offering that is more than BTC.
They were created to gain more BTC and LTC. It was never more obvious then with FTC and CHN. PPC is interesting but i'm still not sure on it yet because of it using sha256, I think if they went with another hash it would be way more successful in the long run.

One of the big things that draws people to bitcoin is that they can mine it on their home computer. Once the asic's take over sha-256 coins that will take the "fun" out of it for alot of people. No more finding the perfect video card, overclocking it and finding the max stable hash rate balanced with cooling. Just order a box and let it sit in the corner. -.- Its so antiseptic.

as long as there are asic's there will be scrypt coins.

Your hash rate will change depending on the "N" value.

If you check it once every few seconds you will see it changes every 5-8 seconds. Mine will go from 30kh/s up to 200kh/s to 50kh/s all in the matter of 5 seconds.

I'm going to make a fortune in welfare checks off of all these orphans.

Just put your computer in the DMZ and never have problems again. lol

I'm about to open an orphanarium, anyone want to send me more orphans?

Now that it went out of sync and back in I'm getting mined blocks every few minutes. Cheesy

My wallet is having a weird issue. It says its out of sync and is dropping behind but has 30 peers. It said 200 block remaining for awhile now its up to 378 blocks remaining. The rly weird thing is its mined 3 blocks since it became out of sync and they seem to be confirming.
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coin QT should have some extra features added on: May 08, 2013, 03:38:05 PM
How about an all in one wallet(all coins) that allows exchange right in the wallet.

Can it be done?
1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][YAC][HOWTO] Howto mine yacoin on: May 08, 2013, 02:11:58 PM
How can you tell your mining speed?

I started yacoin wallet in mining mode, my cpu is at 97% so I'm pretty sure its mining, it even got an orphan, how cute. But I see nowhere to monitor the speed or to even see that it is mining.

1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Wallet with timelock on: May 07, 2013, 07:45:37 PM
I have a problem saving money, if I have bitcoins it burns a hole in my wallet till I spend it.

Has anyone come up with a bitcoin wallet (custom wallet or a mod for current wallet) that is able to lock bitcoins in it for a set period of time.

Like I put 1BTC in my wallet and set it to not be available until 2 years from now.

Make it fast like CNC is (1 min or under for first confirm)
be available for support.
Make starting difficulty relatively low but not insane (don't let people mine 50% of the max coin in the first day. More like 10-15%)
set up a few pools before hand or offer bounty's to get them put up b4 the coin is launched.
It has to be scrypt, or a new crypto if your up to it.
Offer bounty's ahead of time to get exchanges to add it first day. This reduces build up and sudden drops after the exchange picks up the coin.

Do these things and your coin will thrive.

I'm not a very good programmer, I know some java and visual basic. About enough to get myself in trouble. lol But what I do have is good ideas Cheesy Hit me up on skype (same name) if you want to bounce ideas off me.

Fast =/= Better.

There is a reason they chose 10 minute blocks for Bitcoin.  It gives enough time for the network to download all the blocks to keep caught up.

fast = better for retail sales.

Say I want to go to the gas station and get some gas. Lets just imagine they take bitcoin. I pull up and pump my gas. Pull out my phone and pay the teller and wait 20+ minutes for the first confirm b4 I leave.

Now lets imagine if that teller took something like CNC. I pull up and pump my gas. I pull out my phone and pay the teller and wait ~1 minute, but I don't wait 1 minute because it takes more than that to walk to my car and leave.

Speed = real world day to day usability.

Paying for fast food in a drive through even becomes viable.

Make it CPU friendly, but GPU must still be more efficient to make sure the average Joe has a chance against server farms. Would be awesome if it could be ARM/Mobile friendly aswell.

I like the idea of a coin that can only be mined with an arm processor. No idea how to go about that but its a great idea. I can see people buying up all the old cellphones off of ebay to mine with. lol

I'm down for a new coin I can mine along side of other coins. yacoin on my cpu miner and all the other scrypt based coins on my gpus.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MMOcoin (idea for an all in one coin based on litecoin) on: May 05, 2013, 02:19:02 PM
markm, I find it very disturbing that you are using your alt account or bribed the friend to check the public opinion on the same topic we discussed for like 6 hours straight
yesterday, where I said it should not be revealed to public in any way before things are set, tested and ready for project launch. It is very unfortunate you obviously assigned
so little value to my conclusion the project would surely work. Moreover, you have chosen the wrong target audience - remember how many times I told you it makes no real
difference if people mining current cryptocoins will join or not? Can you recall target audience is millions of ordinary people, who might not have any clue about cryptocoins?

Me and a friend came up with this while talking about bitcoins being like game money. I have no affiliation with whoever you are talking about. If more than 1 group of people can come up with the same idea it must be a pretty good idea right?
1120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MMOcoin (idea for an all in one coin based on litecoin) on: May 05, 2013, 11:14:35 AM
So Solidcoin type of setup, then?

Your special privieged servers that are the only ones allowed to mine are the centralised control and centralised minting?

Again, if you are centralising anyway, then a blockchain is just an insanely expensive extra expense.

Better to just use mysql databases, or Open Transactions, or clone RIpple when its source code is released.

Still insane but maybe do-able would be to use a Proof of Stake coin with the game server(s) owning the vast majority of the stake.

But the whole blockchain approach is just stupid/pointless when there is going to be centralised control, such as in your idea that only the game server(s) will be able to mine.

-MarkM-

The pools can be the servers. Multiple servers that anyone can put up and mine on. So a game that is the wallet and miner, and a server that is the pool and game server in one. I want it to be so anyone can download the server and start a pool/game server. No centralized game server.

Can you imagine how people would react to a game that they can make money playing.

It could be set up so that if you leave it running it builds up coins but you cant access them until you go farm monsters and the longer you were sitting idle the more you get while farming, its a predetermined amount according to how much you have mined with your gpu. The coins are actually created by the miner built into the game and then released when monsters are killed.
