1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get credit, purchase Bitcoin, declare bankruptcy, profit?? on: June 18, 2013, 07:15:28 PM
I had a friend who foolishly did this

I kept reading expecting to hear a negative outcome for him.

Rly? With the amount of defaults going on the chances of someone being investigated, unless they did something really obvious, are slim to none.
1002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get credit, purchase Bitcoin, declare bankruptcy, profit?? on: June 18, 2013, 07:39:37 AM
Good evening,

Now, this might have only just occurred to me now and of course this would constitute fraud but what is stopping an individual from getting a line of credit in the 6 figure range, then purchasing a massive amount of Bitcoins then rinse with bankruptcy? I imagine the individual wouldn't care about his credit if they had several hundred thousand in the 'wallet'.

Your thoughts?

P.s. I hope someone is foolish enough to do this, it would prop the price up a bit for the rest of us  Cheesy

There are a couple of problems:

1. First, someone with the ability to obtain a "6-figure" line-of-credit makes a lot of money and has a lot of assets, and would it be stupid to risk losing everything for only a "6-figure" payout.
2. Second, the person would have to show what they did with the money, and convince the judge that they were not committing fraud.

1. Start a business(Get loans ect.)
2. Fudge the paperwork so you lose your ass(In reality moving thoes funds to bitcoin)
3. Close the business and file bankruptcy.
4. Wait some time.
5. Start a new business
6. Fudge the paperwork and sell the bitcoins counting it as profit.
7. pay taxes on everything.
8. Profit(Literally)

Is that why LTC is skyrocketing on BTC-e lol

1. Never steal from a human -

2. Corporations are not humans.
[/quote]

That's exactly how I feel. Corporations are evil. I have many reasons behind why I think they are evil but I don't think people want to read a wall of text about why I hate corporations. lol

I think one of the best ways to screw over corporations is the fake coupons you can find on 4chan. Wink The best kind of theft is the kind where they put it in a bag and thank you.  Tongue

After reading everything over I'm very tempted to buy the 18gh/s unit. lol
1006  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Upgrading rig from 3 to 5 GPU cant get 5th card running... on: June 14, 2013, 03:19:37 AM
I have heard windows 8 works better with more than 4 cards. Worth a shot.
1007  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: basic overclocking Q on: June 13, 2013, 08:18:45 PM
Also i find sapphire trixx works better than afterburner for multiple cards.
1008  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: basic overclocking Q on: June 13, 2013, 08:14:56 PM
Overclock while mining. Up clocks till the hash speed drops or till video card driver crashes. Reboot and set the clock speed 25mhz lower and run the miner and see if it crashes if it does lower it some more till its stable.

If your mining bitcoin only worry about the core clock and drop the mem clock as low as it will go.

If your mining litecoin or some other scrypt coin raise the mem along with the core. Try to keep a ratio of .7 for core/mem, take the mem clock and multiply by .7 and thats what you set your core clock at. It can be a little higher or a little lower but .7 seems to be a good starting spot.
1009  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Cards Throttling Around 100c on: June 13, 2013, 03:11:54 AM
Previously I rented a place in a datacenter, that makes life easier and manually fixed the GPU fans so that the temperature is about 60 degree celsius.  If you are into the 100s, you are going to shorten the life of your cards a lot.  No point, at least try to get them running until ROI.
Don't matter really, b/c if the card fail, just RMA it.
Most cards come with 2 yr warranty.

XFX comes with lifetime  Wink
1010  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to test a 7970 and a 6990 for problems? Issues with gaming. on: June 12, 2013, 09:15:26 AM
I would give you something for them even if they are bad. PM me if you want to sell either. Sell to me b4 u throw them out. lol

you might try underclocking the card and see if it still does it. I have a 6950 that started bsoding on me, i underclocked the card and it runs great now. lol
Also, try different versions of the video card driver.
1011  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: artifacts whilst browsing web? on: June 11, 2013, 08:37:40 PM
I think its a firefox/vid driver issue.

On 13.4 driver with my 7950 i get black squares in firefox. Same driver but using a 6950 i get no squares. I read on another forum that its the driver and firefox not playing well. Try different versions of the video cards driver.
1012  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to select a 7950? on: June 10, 2013, 01:37:36 AM
I have the Sapphire 7950HD (11196-16-20G)

It can do 690-700kh/s at 1175/1600 1.15-1.2v with the right settings in cgminer.

Xfx is great for the warranty but suck for hash speeds. I have 3x Xfx 7950s that only do 630kh/s and clocks only reach 1075/1375 locked voltage at 1.25v
I will never sell the XFX cards, they will go in my gaming computer eventually. The lifetime warranty is unbeatable.
1013  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 09, 2013, 04:14:03 AM
Here's my current setup.  6x Sapphire 7970s on Win8x64.  Slightly OC'd while also undervolted from 1.175 to 1.090
Don't mind the ghettoness, this is my first rig.  I'm getting aluminum pieces this week and going to make them really nice, also getting ready for 2nd rig.  This is Damn Fun Cheesy Cool

Nothing ghetto about those temps. Smiley

What does your cgminer.conf look like ?

Its only been running for a few seconds in that pic. I want to see the temps after an hour of running.

Add WorldCoin and you have a customer. Cheesy

I should have bought a laser cutter instead of a 3D printer. Tongue

1016  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 7850 - hashing at 10% on: June 07, 2013, 10:21:06 PM
try hooking a monitor or null dvi to it and reboot and see if that changes.

I have one card that was working great for awhile and would randomly throttle from 670kh/s to 80kh/s and hooking up my tv to it with hdmi fixed it.
1017  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 07, 2013, 09:08:03 PM
Selling 3D printed Pi cases. Cheesy
1018  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Recomendations for a good breaker to handle all of my rigs. on: June 07, 2013, 05:44:25 PM
As an interim solution, I would split your rigs in 2 clusters and make sure you run one cluster from a different fuse.

I'm planning on taking over the spare guest room (different fuse).

I've already taken over the office. Muhahahaha !

My wife complains that "It's a different microclimate" in there.

Duh ! There's 4 graphics cards hashing !

 Cheesy

I have 8 cards hashing atm with a cheapie window ac unit keeping it all relatively cool in my bedroom. One side of my room is 10+ degrees hotter than the other side. Its rly weird to move 2 feet and feel the temp change. Laying in bed its about 75f, sitting at my computer by the rigs its atleast 85f. lol

Get an electrician.

+1 Assuming you even figured out which one to purchase, watching you try to remove the old one would probably give me a heart attack.

I've changed breakers b4, I was just looking for something better than the ace/homedepot $10 special. You don't have to know a hell of a lot to change a breaker.
