541  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] Bitcoin/Litecoin Soda Machine Project v0.4 on: November 17, 2013, 12:30:07 AM
Check out the video of Bitcoin/Litecoin Soda Machine v0.2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U51zvo-HOdg

I started a project earlier this week to make a soda machine accept Bitcoins, then I figured what the hell and made it accept Litecoins as well. Smiley

The system consists of a Raspberry Pi, a 7" LCD and a relay circuit.

The program on the Pi checks the price of bitcoin/litecoin and the balance of its wallet once every 10-15 seconds, I haven't decided on a set time yet. I may change it to 5 seconds, it doesn't speed up transactions much lowering the refresh time tho, just more work for the 700mhz Pi CPU lol

It currently takes between 10-60 seconds to vend a soda, waiting 1 minute to get a soda may seem like a bit of a wait but it takes over 30 seconds on less than 20% of all transactions so far. The majority of transactions are under 30 seconds.

The QR codes are dynamic and change according to the price.

I'm at the stage that all I have to do is install it in my soda machine. I'm waiting on the rain to let up and I will be doing just that. I will post a video for all to see when its complete later today.

Here are some screenshots for you to drool over.

Let me know what you guys think, I'm always open for input.

Never mind, I figured it out. lol  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
543  Bitcoin / Project Development / Help get Python to see 0 confirm(unconfirmed) balance on: November 16, 2013, 12:18:12 AM
How can i get my python scrypt to see the balance with 0 confirm transactions added in?

con.getbalance(minconf=0)

doesn't work, it waits for 1 confirm. I was hoping to have my program check the bitcoin balance every 10 seconds and compare to see if there has been an incoming transaction and then to compare that to the requested amount. It must be 0 confirm for my purposes.

does anyone have a cleaner way to go about this? I would like to keep it as simple as possible. lol

Can anyone give me tips on how to just check for incoming transactions every 10 seconds and and then read the amount paid into memory to be used elsewhere?

Nice site  Smiley  Are you in US?

It is a nice site. I would still like to see them put in a few more features that bitmit had, like instant digital delivery and being able to choose what exchange's exchange rate to use.

Yes, I am located in the US and only ship to the US. I can ship outside of the US but its prohibitively expensive, if anyone outside of the US wants to order from me PM me and I will give you the international shipping rates. Smiley
545  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: November 14, 2013, 04:41:38 AM
I hope some real professionals with deep pockets for developers, marketers, and lawyers step up to buy BitMit.

BitMit has the potential to be the next eBay, just as Bitcoin may replace Paypal.

Sure you could roll your own BitMit clone.  Many people are trying that approach.

But just as eBay's first mover advantage provided them with instant dotcom name recognition, BitMit's overwhelming early market presence makes their brand very valuable.

With some adult supervision, the room for growth is mind-boggling.

Maybe a Coinsortium of investors will purchase BitMit and take it public on Kate's new Ciphertrade exchange...   Wink

Some people don't realize there is no need to be the first in the market. Do you search with Yahoo or Google ? If none, you are likely searching with other option which is even newer than them.

I was making 1-2 sales per day using bitmit. Using coingig and cryptothrift I have made 1 sale in the past week. I miss bitmit.

Are you talking about this one?

because there is nothing about LTC on the site or forums.

Well since BitMit is in the toilet, what now?

Try halfpricedigital.com  You can buy/sell auction items for BTC using a coinbase account!  Let me know what you think.

There are like 3 items listed there. TOTAL. lol

Go to Coingig.com
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 12Gh/s Beast of a miner on Litecoin, WTH??? on: November 11, 2013, 07:11:46 PM
So, the total hash rate of Litecoin yesterday was 33.5Gh/s, today its 45.5Gh/s. I have never seen this much hash power on LTC before. I find it odd that it all came on at the same time. If it were a natural increase in miners because of the price of LTC then it would have went up over a few weeks, not overnight. This doesn't make sense unless there is 1 monster scrypt mining op with 12Gh/s, or multiple huge mining ops acting in collusion.

Can anyone else explain this?

http://allchains.info/

Having a scrypt farm of my own this difficulty rise will hurt me badly and I may have to sell everything.

I clicked.

Nice hardware you've got there. Get rid of the Western Digital Green crap and try to get Samsung Evo SSD's

I just put up the Samsung Evo line. I personally like Western Digital for a drive with a spinning platter. I have had a ton of Seagates fail on me and never had a single Western digital fail. (Knock on wood)
I will put up what ever will sell, so if people want seagate I will list seagates. lol
Nice, regarding the Evos.

Now I don't mean WD, I mean WD Green. These are slow and unreliable drives. Perhaps they are better now, ok, but I had 2 crapping out on me.

so your saying I should put up the WD Black? I can do that.

This catches my attention:

Quote
If you are interested in buying the site we will publish further information in about 2 weeks. Meanwhile please stay patient.

does this mean they don't have enough profit margin?

They started as a ebay for bitcoin sites "WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT"... then now they added a few AD BANNERS...

so it must've been about the profit margin? just my opinion...

I would be fine with a little bit higher fee to keep the doors open. I have been making more selling on bitmit than I am mining per day, don't shut the doors Sad
