Generally yes....the ram is just capable of faster operation.  The general rule is it can be faster than needed but wont run faster than what is required.

That XFX 8gb 580 models.

That sight pretty much has a copy of every stock bios.  You can search Powercolor but appears its XFX OC unit near top of the list.

what do you think about use nVidia GTX 1070 for Raven coin mining?
Will it be profitable to buy for about 500USD/item and with energy from solar panels  - average price about 0.08usd/kwh
Myself i will not buy for that price, that 1070 was around 160-220$. it is better wait, gpus will not be this expensive forever. For 1-1.5$ a day on raven for 500$ plus 0.08$ electricity it is insane.

If gpu's will be cheaper mining income will be much lower...

I have another Raven mining question, is it possible to mine Raven with 4GB RAM AMD RX cards?  Is it much more unefficient than 8gb version?

Right now 3gb or more works.
Efficiency should br affected until its over the size...

Looks like G3930 should work...cheapest $112

or an i3-7100 $133....

found using pcpartpicker.com

will work
586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig not turning on on: February 28, 2021, 07:39:36 PM
Tried that and it did not work. Tried it twice and got the same result. I also checked if I had any shorts and it doesn't seem to have any. I have the mobo sitting ontop of the anti static bag in came with. The mobo supports Gen 6 and 7 of intel. I have the Celeron G4930 LGA1151. It should be compatible right?

Sorry your original post shows only G490 for cpu.

No its not on the list from ASROCK site...meaning its not supported.

http://www.asrock.com/support/cpu.asp?s=1151&u=1147

It requires a 300 series chipset...This is 110 chipset.

Thanks miner29, I've just ordered them. I'll let you know if they work. Unfortunatelly, I don't know if I can or  how to give you merit. Cheesy

When i have chained them off each other ive stepped up to a better multiplexer chip.  SQRL X2G is very good chip but way more exspensive.  But if you are going to run just one in a slot not chaining one off the other then the cheaper option is fine.

I suggest starting with one and adding a gpu at a time and get it running.  This way you can figure out what the limit is.

No worries on the merit man.  Just hope it helps ya.  One miner to another. 👍
589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig not turning on on: February 28, 2021, 07:13:26 PM
Great advice. I took out the mobo and disconnected everything from it. Just left the basic components on with one PSU (which i have 2 of the same ones). Tried it again and didn't work. Here is a video of it,
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D7BsnPlTva9fi6LkuZJ7IMiP_ZyosDaZ?usp=sharing.

Would it be because the PSUs are "uncertified"? Because they should have enough power to turn on a PC with 1 RAM stick and a Celeron CPU.

I doubts it psu as there is very little power needed without gpus.  Sounds like it may be a dead board.

Did you blank CMOS setting?

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1341587/Asrock-H110-Pro-BtcPlus.html?page=20#manual

Besure to unplugpower cord before doing this.

I think ive got your answer....G4900 is not supported by that board...

see here
https://www.asrock.com/support/cpu.asp?s=1151&u=1062

You can see here a Pentium G3560 is supported:

https://www.asrock.com/support/cpu.asp?s=1151&u=945

Just because it is celeron or pentium LGA1151 gotta check if it says 300 support only.  Change the cpu and you should be good to go.

Hello,

I have this motherboard and is working ok with 6 cards, but I have extra 5 cards and the prices of the motherboards that support 12/13 gpus are pretty high right now, so I bought an PCIE extension. The issue is that when I plug the risers in the multiplier, the cards are not detected, but if I plug an usb stick, it works fine. Is because of the motherboard?

MB:     https://rog.asus.com/uk/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b250f-gaming-model/
PCIE Multiplier: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0855QY46F

Thanks

The riser interface is not USB3.0 it uses the connectors and cables but is not usb..  so you want a card more like this...

https://www.amazon.com/YIYIYI-Expansion-Converter-Adatper-Bitcoin/dp/B08TWBDNPP/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=YIYIYI&qid=1614537907&sr=8-1

This will work with risers to gpus.  Note that your cpu pcie lanes, chipset,  other intefaces turned on in bios can all affect how many gpus you can actually get to recognize.  If your bios has above 4g decoding then chances are good you can run more....  Its a try and see thing most of the time.

But usb3.0 plugged into a riser would present problems as the usb 3.0 is not compatible and carries voltage where risrs using usb connector/cables pass no voltages only data.  Its just usb connectors and cables are cheap and reliable so used for this application also.

Thanks, it has 4g decoding, and it detects 6 gpus. Would the below work, as on amazon they are all available from april at soonest here in UK ?

Yeah thats same multiplexer.  And they are inexpensive.  Recently ive had to use several on rig where gpu0 had to be in slot but the other gpu slots where blocked.  i just toss it into an unobstructed slot and plug in the gpus on risers.  Ive had a cou0le boards that wouldnt go beyond 6 gpus but others do...depends on chipset / cpu pcie lanes / m.2 utilized ports etc.

Good luck and let us know if it works for ya.

NO VERTHASH MINING YET--

My Win7 box attacked the available VertHashMiner on download, I can't run it.  All my miners are Linux.

I am waiting for an optimized miner for VertHash from PhoenixMiner or TRM.  It may be a while.  My 3GB 1060 cards are mining Raven.

VertHash can fit on a 2GB card.       --scryptr

EDIT: 30kH/s on a GTX 750ti--

I set up the Vert-OCM (One-Click Miner) and ran it.  A 750ti will get about 30kH/s, and earn about 1/3 VTC a day.  I have a Win 10 box that is usually busy, and I re-tasked it.  The miner self-installed and finally ran after maybe 45 minutes.

This miner apparently installs a wallet?  I could not easily see the address it was mining to.  This miner is a shell script to operate VertHashMiner by CryptoGraphics.  I'll look at it more later.

I'd rather see a CCminer version optimized for CUDA.       --scryptr

Ditto...
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how many GPUs will this board support for mining ? on: February 27, 2021, 02:39:41 AM
Dont plug the gpus into the slots...use risers....putting several cards on the mobo directly easily exceeds its power capability.  Each card can draw 75w each on the slot.

The manual references 40 lane cpu and 28 lane cpu...but either should provide more than enough lanes for 6 cards on risers.  What i dont see is above 4g decoding in the bios.  That should limit you to 4gpu...but you should easily get 4 running on risers and turn off everything you dont need...audio/m.2 ports / sata (if using thumbdrive and moning os)....VTD off .... pretty much anything not needed...so sleep mode on proc or energy saving.

Ive used the 1-4 pcie multiplexer with risers to add 6 gpus to a board with a single x16 slot and 2 x1 slots.  So they work.  Ive got much more expensive ones that you can actually cascade..1-4 to 3 gpus and another 1-4.... but pcie lanes and bios/chipsets will eventually limit you.
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: are those risers any good ?!?... on: February 26, 2021, 12:00:18 AM
PCIE spec is 75w....thus either molex 4 pin or pci 6pin are the only options that are always acceptable in ALL circumstances.

You can join a staking pool and wont have to stake all 32 yourself.

I see, thanks for the reply. This is the FPGA board that I have: https://www.terasic.com.tw/cgi-bin/page/archive.pl?Language=English&No=836. I'm guessing there is no use for it then?

Yeah no.  Not for mining.
597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CudaProgram.cu29: unknown error (30) on: February 25, 2021, 01:40:22 PM
Big problem is its 850M m=mobile so not quite same.  Better to move to more modern card.  The 4g lolminer trick works fine with 4xx/5xx cards.  The 850M is probably not gonna do it.
598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FPGA Mining for Ethereum on: February 24, 2021, 11:46:45 PM
Only if it has hbm memory on it and more than 4gb worth.  The only FPGA i know that currently does this are the SQRL units.  The FK33 JC35 both have the hbm and the most important part .... a working Bitstream.  They are efficient but not common and not cheap (as if any mining gear is reasonable right now).  The learning curve is much steepe than gpu minings and its much easier to damage the hardware.

So chances are your fpga cannot.  As most FPGAs in this world cannot.
599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CudaProgram.cu29: unknown error (30) on: February 24, 2021, 09:30:28 PM
On The screenshot you attached , you can see clearly, you have 4GB of video ram ( 4GB VRAM ).
You cant mine ETH with any VGA card(GPU) with 4GB of memory

55°C  Fan: 1.7    Hash: 27.04    01 Ellesmere RX 570 113-D0003400_100 Samsung 4gb

While it would be correct to say it is very close to the end of profitable mining on 4gb....it is incorrect to say you cannot do it any more.

Lolminer + 4gb cards still on ETH nicely.

Everyone keep talking about this lolminer but whenever I tried using with my rx580 the hashrate is way smaller that what phoenixminer or NB miner is giving me, is there something I don't get with this lolminer?

Well if you have 4gb card then lolminer is best choice.  Getting 27mhs today on 4gb by having physically in long slot x16.
