1  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: April 16, 2023, 12:51:24 PM
I have a foot in both sides of owning and renting. On the one hand I own and rent out and on the other hand I rent to stay in. Unfortunately in the country where I own, interest rates are high and almost impossible to buy, but even with that the rental is roughly 60% of the bond payment. I have made a big mistake in the past by selling a property that today I would have laughed at how low the bond payment would have been.

Personally I think a person's goal should be to own a property and if in the privileged position to do that to hold onto the property if you can. From my mistakes in the past my choice would always be to (1) buy and (2) to rent, in that order. If you cannot make that happen and can make no plans to own a property then it is what it is and rental is the last resort.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Will NFT be the reason for a massive boost in gambling in the near future? on: March 13, 2022, 10:00:41 PM
People will gamble with whatever has value, whether it is crypto, fiat money, a house or an NFT. I think that NFT will cause an increase increase in gambling, as it makes the gambling process easier and enables a player to bet with something that was not previously possible. Anything that reduces the time of betting and has some kind of value will be adopted by gambling. Lets take an example: A plyer plays with his crypto currency and loses it all. He has some baseball cards as NFTs in an Eth wallet. In the past it would have been difficult to use that as a bet, but since it is tokenized in this case, it would enable betting as it is something that can be proven since he owns the private key and can there and then transfer the NFT to the betting pool. Lets say furthermore that one day we will be able to tokenize all our assets and a physical house ownership is proved by private key ownership of an NFTs address, then it would be easy to gamble with the house and transfer it to a pool.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]✨✨✨ Earn Finance ✨✨✨ The Easiest Way to Access DeFi on: March 13, 2022, 09:42:18 PM
From what I can gather, in essence you are creating a solution to make it easier for new entrants to trade/invest in the DeFi space. I have the following questions for you:

  • Will the trading only be on CEX or also on DEX?
  • If DEX also, will it be on the same DEX or will you also venture into cross-chain? Reason why I ask about the DEWX and cross-chain is that there are so many ifs and buts to take into account like gas fees, chain state, where to start and where to end, in what to pay fees, slippage, liquidity etc. that I think it is very risky to provide a public bot for that.
  • Will you be doing the token sale before you do the audits as you say in the whitepaper the audits will come later
  • Can you put pictures to the masked faces of the team on p25?
  • Whitepaper has several errors in it - p17 Security Auditing [protect], repeat of Security and Auditing paragraph on p18, Pancakeswap on p26, contract address is masked on p26
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POLYGON’S MATIC or Solana on: March 13, 2022, 08:52:53 PM
my choice is polygon, for all the time of use there are no problems with the network, transactions are fast and most importantly cheap, but the solana network has hung up several times and this is a big minus today, this project occupies the top 10 CMC and should work without failures.

I beg to differ regarding your point on no problems with the Polygon network. While Polygon Matic is the more promising of the two, there was a big outage on Polygon on March 10th and the chain halted. I just checked the groups and the latest status is that everything is back on line. A lot of people were worried over the weekend. In addition, there was recently a big performance impact on Polygon due to SFF. The network fees have gone up sharply on Polygon as well, although still negligible in comparison with Eth.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡️SYFΣR NΣTWORK⚡️ - Anonymous Smart Contracts | DeFi | Homomorphic Encryption | on: March 13, 2022, 08:46:24 PM
Some questions that I would like to ask you:

  • I see you say your block time is 18s but analyzing the block explorer the blocks seem to be 60s apart?
  • Looking at the block explorer it refers to Coinbase with a number of coins, but I do not see Syfer listed on Coinbase?
  • Circulating supply is 159m in the block explorer but at block 648646 @ 3.3 circulating supply should have been around 2.1m?
  • You say coding contracts will be easier than Solidity, but you don't say anywhere what the language is in which the contracts will be written
  • If contracts will be private, how will people be able to scrutinize it and for it to be auditable?
  • So you perhaps have a whitepaper to explain how you are going to implement all these things you mention?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Can't MetaMask be trusted from now on? on: March 13, 2022, 08:22:11 PM
How sure are you that it is Metmask itself that is blocking the people from sanctioned countries? Is it not perhaps the browser or the IP address that gets blocked before it hits Metamask?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Your Expectation About Polygon (MATIC) Token for 2022 on: March 13, 2022, 07:33:15 PM
I was bullish on Polygon (Matic) until a few days ago when the blockchain halted due to an error. The devs applied a hotfix but the bridge will be down until a permanent fix is applied. It is problematic for me that such errors in blockchains occur.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT vs HASH ID | comparing different approaches to things tokenization on: March 13, 2022, 04:04:11 PM
Firstly, the 3DPass video talks about 3D objects and not 2D pictures which is what most NFTs of today are. Granted that if we get to tokenizing 3D models then there will be a need for a digital representation of a 3D object. If 3DPass works it could be used for that. I don't know if 3D pass will work for paintings and drawings as we know it.

My view on the current mechanism of NFT is that if an artist creates a picture or other work of art and signs the file with his or her account into the blockchain then that artist is the owner and creator. The chances of the same work of art suddenly appearing elsewhere and a claim that the second is the original will be difficult to prove as the transaction where the work of art was written to is time-stamped. The second claim will not be able to write it to the blockchain at an earlier date. The second claim will therefore have a very difficult time to prove that the second file is the original. That is unfortunately how intellectual property works.

I can give a few other examples: Firstly, If a traditional painter creates a painting, then there may be another painter that copies it, so the risk we have now is not different from the traditional risk. The only difference is it is easier to do so with a digital file. So it is not a new risk, the likelihood has just increased. The second example is if you have a new idea and want to take out a patent, it is in your interest not to talk about the idea in public or leak the idea because then it will become difficult to register the patent. It would be best to keep the idea private until you have registered the patent and created notarized and tim-stamped evidence of your idea. If someone else later finds out about the idea they will have a difficult time to prove that they created the idea earlier.

I would rather say that the current NFT technology should be improved in two ways:
  • Create a mechanism to add a watermark or other digital mark/content tied to the real NFT creator into an NFT before writing it to the blockchain. I read a lot of threads on the forum and saw comments on something similar elsewhere on the forum.
  • Create an anti plagiarize mechanism where a digital file can be uploaded and features compared with other uploaded files. Two things can be compared, a digital signature of the file itself and a feature similarity score. Between these two it would be possible to determine how close one work of art is to another known work of art. Something like 95%+ is plagiarized. Such a tool can scan all NFTs on the various platforms or owners can upload their NFTs to the service. It may also be that NFT market places can introduce such functionality. It should be possible to do this now as photographs can be used for biometric recognition. In a similar way an NFT creator could register the NFT for "biometric recognition".
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] OneCoin - Simple, Decentralized, Mineable Cryptocurrency on: March 13, 2022, 01:36:00 PM
What is the purpose of your coin? I presume it is just experimental to see how memory mining works? Interesting that you require the whole blockchain in memory to mine and it would be interesting to see what is going to happen once the blockchain sizes goes beyond the size of the average PCs memory. This will cause huge R/W load on HDDs and shorten the lifespan of SSDs considerably. Do yo have stats on HDD R/Ws for mining this coin if a portion is on the HDD?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: Being able to both do sports and earn money with the blockchain on: March 13, 2022, 12:38:43 PM
It is a very noble cause that you are trying to do with helping sports persons. You mention that Bluetherium will help sports persons with things like financing and getting equipment etc. What you fail to talk about is how you are going to generate the funds to pay for those items and help them. It will not be feasible to rely on the market price of your token as history has repeated itself over and over, countless times that most new tokens' price drop shortly after release. Can you please expand on the sustainable funding of your project?

There are professional and amateur athletes in our team, many municipalities and local regions have participated in this project, they are receiving serious support, the audience is increasing, everyone is contributing, now there is a pre-sale. ICO proceeds will be used for exchange listing, social benefit and roadmap stages. And soon there will be sports competitions under the name of BLUT, everyone will see.

Ok but that still does not say how you are going to fund your project. Also it is not clear why you need the tokens and an token sale. If you are going to use up the funds for what you are saying then the project may die down. You will need some form of sustainable method to generate funds with the project.

I think you did not examine our website and roadmap. There are local municipalities, clubs and professional athletes who finance this system. In this system, sports competitions will be organized, health and sports products will be offered, and also incentive awards will be organized by using its own blockchain and wearable technology.

Maybe I just don't understand your operating model. What I can see is that you will have a token sale on BSC which will place the money in your hands and tokens in the hands of buyers. Then you will create your own chain for which the mining will work with wearables "Our ultimate aim will be to create our own blockchain network with the funding provided from the ICO, where mining will be realized using wearable technologies, and aided by our own sports and health products" [from your docs under 'what is blut mining']. I don't know how mining with wearables work and would be interesting to see. You will also use the money for exchange listing. After that there will be events from municipalities that will fund the problems you want to solve. I just want to understand why you need a token sale and and why you need to create e new chain and cannot use a token on an existing chain like BSC which will not cost money. Using DeFi on DEX platforms also does not cost money. Why do you need money to build a new chain and spend it on exchange listings, I presume CEX exchanges. I am just questioning the economics and sustainability.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Decentral Life, Social networking and e-marketplace platform on: March 13, 2022, 12:10:26 PM
It seems that you have a very complicated mechanism and formulas of how the token will be managed, how earnings will work which sounds glamorous and fancy. Not necessarily a problem. However, if we reduce the project to its essence the following remains which would be good if you can enlighten us in order to evaluate you project properly:

  • You mention the token is a utility token, yet you say in your whitepaper that one of the premium rewards that will drive demand is that "they participate in the equity disbursement of the company during a potential liquidity event" and "The model is like being a shareholder in a company". This sounds very much like a security to me and not a utility.
  • You say "The Worldwide Decentralized Life Token (the “WDLF Token”) is an implementation of Token loyalty rewards, when mined by network users, quantify loyalty value. This organically increases the network effect for each of our TBI companies as they grow their loyal usership on their niche social network marketplace. Additionally, the user can take the WDLF Tokens they earn and purchase products or services offered by that network and their industry partners." Yet you do not say what is going to provide the token its value. Added to this you say "some users will aim to earn $50 - $65 a day in WDLF Tokens". Based on which market price do you calculate the $ value to make this claim?
  • You say that the demand will be driven by premium rewards but do not specify what those rewards are, except to share in the proceeds at time of liquidation.

This brings me to the point that in essence you will receive money from a token sale, then token holders will have tokens and will earn more tokens using the complex token mechanism and that is it. When those token holders sell on an exchange there will be price pressure to downwards. Even if holders can buy things with the tokens the number of tokens needed to buy $1 of goods will increase as the unit price of the tokens on the exchange goes down. How do you plan to maintain the $ value of the tokens to sustain your tokenomics model, apart from the premium rewards you do not specify?

What is the point of your token? If 1000 users send you 0.01 then you have 10 ETH and then what? Tell us what your token is about and what you are planning to do with it and how it will work else no-one will send you anything.

I was trying to see the links you posted to see what this is about but I get a warning on the site. Can you look into those links? I also dont want to open an unknown doc from OP. Is the content of the OP file the same as the links you have posted?

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Usdt are safeheaven to avoid volatility and goverment restrictions on: March 13, 2022, 11:09:59 AM
There is no cryptocurrency in my view that is a safe haven. The only purpose of fiat pegged crypto currencies aka stablecoins is to hedge against a drop in price of other non-stablecoins cryptocurrencies. Different stablecoins have different risks and the safest would be an actual fiat deposit 1:1 to the stablecoin and that fund must be safely stored somewhere in some account. This process should be audited regularly by reputable auditors and the reports made public. The rules of the fund should be that at any time when a stablecoin holder holds one unit of stable coin it should be possible to convert that to one fiat unit. Of course there will be logistical limitations to this but this should be the rule. Then that stablecoin will have less risk. It is also possible for stablecoins to have other types of reserves  and assets to serve as collateral for those stablecoins but those projects' risks are higher. There are clouds and uncertainty hanging over USDT so it is uncertain how "safe" USDT is.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Stamps NFT - Largest Collection of Animated Stamps on the Blockchain on: March 13, 2022, 07:16:15 AM
I would like to know where you get the pictures of the stamps you process and have up for sale. Is it scans from an actual collection or do you tale it from the web somewhere. From the pictures on the website it seems that the stamps are unused.
Both, scanned and used from the internet. The archive where we get the stamps and information about them also scanning real stamps, they scan high quality and not used stamps. To be clear, we are not just copy paste, we create an animation, that is sort of uniqality. Each animated stamp uploaded manually one by one. To complete 25k of stamps it took us 6 months.

Another question, are stamps considered public domain or are stamps copyright to someone like a government? Are there any laws prohibiting the copying of stamps that require credit to be given? I just want to know if there are any legalities involved. My first gut feel was that stamps are like country flags, but I could be wrong.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cypherdog - innovative company operating in the IT, cyber security sector. on: March 12, 2022, 07:49:42 PM
I think it is cool software that you want to make. I also think the public key distribution via the blockchain is cool, but you will still need some kind of key distribution mechanism especially since PGP keyring servers are not operational anymore. I have seen such platforms without using the blockchain but it would be interesting to see how you do it incorporating the blockchain. I am very much interested to know how you will be storing the public key into the blockchain, in which format you will do it and what key pairs you will be using eg, normal PGP key pairs or commercial certs, key strength, algorithms etc.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN ANKH TV Token on: March 12, 2022, 07:37:17 PM
Sorry but I don't think you are going to get far with this project with the information you have posted. You say that the project is there for financing and long-term sustainability of ANKH TV but you don't say how that long term stability is going to be achieved. If you want people to buy your token you will have to produce a whitepaper and roadmap and make a very good case for why people should buy the tokens. At this point it does not look very convincing.
