321  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking for new coin listing alerts app on: January 18, 2024, 12:54:42 AM
I hope this article from Coingecko can play its role as a warning to people who want to join new trends, invest in trendy coins.

New trends appear with each bull market and with source codes, developers can simply use those source codes of successful trendy projects to launch their new ones with surely will not succeed like pioneering projects. Because new teams don't have enough capability to build up their own projects.

When the trend is over, most of trendy projects will be abandoned and die. The stat is 50% of cryptocurrency failed but it is only tip of iceberg. Trendy projects have failed rate bigger than 50%.

322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: January 18, 2024, 12:44:20 AM
The Saudis have always done things in the big way in the past and present. anything they involve in and put in their best to produce the most colorful events hosted by them. But they are also the oil magnates so they have all it takes in terms of deposited resources to make heaven out of earth.
They have big budget to grow up their league but they have more than that. They actually have more solid strategies to build up their Saudi Professional League, started with big four in the league through investment from PIF. They actually aim at biggest star players like Cristiano, Benzema, Neymar, even Messi, and they successfully attracted more star players to join like Mane, Brozovic, Laporte, Bounou.

With those players and with their solid strategies, I believe Saudi Professional League will gain big success and actually improve quality of the league and domestic players then their national team in future. We will see it like next 5 to 10 years and I believe this project from Saudi Arabia will not terminate too soon.

Quote
The moment I realized their interest in the football, I knew they will bring in luxury into football and can make top players retire back to their leagues. The SPL has gain momentum now and bigger than other leagues like the MLS leagues. If the SPL continues to go like this they will eventually take many star players back to their league but I know that's not just enough as they need to always work hard and put in more efforts in terms of spending on the marketing and being patient with the growth process.
MLS has a big disadvantage as it is too far from Europe and players from Europe will have to leave their home land and families, play and live at a nation very far from their families. Even it has advantage with religion, language, Saudi Professional League actually can provide better salary offers to European players. Their tax policy is more friendly for foreigners than MLS.

325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin changed people (enemy to supporter). Lary Fink (BlackRock CEO) 2017 2024 on: January 17, 2024, 01:35:38 AM
Too deep into the tinfoil hat territory. It's highly likely that — you know, Larry Fink and BlackRock might just want to make bank through management fees — you know, like how they've always made money? I don't think it's that complicated.
It's easy to see his reasons even at tip of iceberg. We don't need to be genius to understand his motivation to change his tone when he got a big news that Grayscale won over SEC. and the court nearly forced SEC. to change from denial to approvals for Bitcoin Spot ETF applications based on the existence of law and regulations.

Larry Fink and BlackRock have their business so that they do anything that can help they gain profit. It's clearly that Bitcoin and Bitcoin Spot ETF, then derivative products will help them gaining massive profit.

Like Cathie Wood said, Bitcoin Spot ETFs are unique products because there is no other Spot ETF with limited supply and even deflationary like Bitcoin Spot ETFs.

If Larry Fink says that Bitcoin is used for money laundering and BlackRock buys Bitcoin, this will certainly affect his survival as CEO. The good side is that the news in the newspapers changes as the owners’ investments change, so whenever their investments in Bitcoin are, you will hear more positive news and vice versa.
It's hard to believe in words of mouth from businessmen.

Maybe other haters like Jamie Dimon will find ways to participate in this ecosystem, maybe they won't - why does it matter? You shouldn't depend on their opinion.
His bank, JP Morgan already joined but just not too deep in cryptocurrency market. I believe they will not ignore this big opportunity for their business. The hardest part was done by Grayscale and BlackRock.

The video is about bounty sheet checking. I don't see anything about forum ban ads.

With archive, you can see some ban ads in the past.

https://web.archive.org/web/20190430214354/https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adinfo

I don't remember exactly, I think it was like a year or two ago but theymos decided to stop because the forum has so many bitcoins that it doesn't need the money coming in from advertising. Why are you so curious about ads?
Ban ads suspension
Quote
Note that I've decided to suspend ad sales. These auctions will probably be permanently ended, and I'm not sure whether or in what form advertising in general will be continued. Maybe some ads will go up again fairly soon, or maybe there will never be any more ads; I haven't decided yet. The main reasons for this decision are:

Firstly, I'm finding it too difficult to determine which services are legit/safe and which are not. It takes me 30+ minutes to research each new service to reach at least some level of confidence in it, but at the end of this I often still don't feel fully confident. Bitcointalk.org is meant to be operated "as a service to the community", so it's very important to me that bitcointalk.org not be seen to be putting profit above the interests of its users. (I've been kind of shocked at the crypto-related ads that are shown on TV, which are often way beyond anything I'd accept here. And I'd like to tighten our standards.)

Secondly, there is a high amount of friction in the current process of auctions and manual ad processing. I often feel that it's more trouble than it's worth on bitcointalk.org's end. I also think that the revenue is substantially less than it could be because the market of advertisers willing to deal with this difficult process is much smaller than the market of advertisers who would be willing to advertise here if only they could do so effortlessly. So I think that we're "leaving a lot of money on the table" due to friction, which makes the other issues feel even worse.

Finally, bitcointalk.org has a large reserve of BTC, so we're able to continue operating without ad revenue for many years. It's not even necessary to cut expenses or find replacement sources of revenue anytime soon, and I currently have no solid plans to do these things. I do regard it as less than ideal to be operating at a constant loss, especially because it constraints any desired future growth in expenses. Improving this situation will be on my mind in the coming years, but luckily it need not be a high priority.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin changed people (enemy to supporter). Lary Fink (BlackRock CEO) 2017 2024 on: January 16, 2024, 03:25:50 AM
be careful of the fools game of sudden admiration...
I did not admire Larry Fink because he changed his mind.

What he did changed is because of Bitcoin adoption now is bigger than in 2017 and he saw 2023 is a good time to start to push BlackRock steps in this market after Grayscale won against SEC. in a lawsuit.

He did it because he knew BlackRock will get lot of income and profit by having a Bitcoin Spot ETF for their business. It's all he saw and what he did is for BlackRock.

This topic, is to bring a point of thinking like if in future, at a day we see people like Jamie Dimon, Peter Schiff changed their words, it will be a day of Bitcoin massive adoption. No admiration on those people at any level.

I check my Bitcoin Core in the Display tab and see no option for wallet Theme display mode so likely those discussions did not turn into any visual deployment from Bitcoin Core developers.

Both threads are helpful and hope you two will continue to update your lists.

331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin changed people (enemy to supporter). Lary Fink (BlackRock CEO) 2017 2024 on: January 16, 2024, 12:45:47 AM
Larry Fink is the CEO of Black Rock.

In 2017, he said. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink calls bitcoin an ‘index of money laundering’

In 2023, on June, BlackRock filed for a Bitcoin Spot ETF.

In 2024, he said.
BlackRock’s Larry Fink says bitcoin ETFs are just the first step in the technological revolution of finance
Bitcoin is an asset class that protects you.

When Jamie Dimon has enough brave to do the same?

Bitcoin Spot ETFs approved, Bitcoin is not fraud. Where is Jamie Dimon?.

It seems to take more time for Jamie Dimon to do so because he more regularly and aggressively talked about Bitcoin in the past. It's hard for him to change his statement publicly as it is like his public admit on his wrong thinking.

Same for Peter Schiff.

Last I checked, he was still running a company that, on more than one occasion, has been charged with fraud and market manipulation, which makes him a colossal hypocrite.
He lied just like many people from government and in society who dislike Bitcoin, want to find any reason to say Bitcoin is a fraud, is bad and so on.

Democrats Dissent On SEC Spot Bitcoin Approval, Gensler Distances Himself From 'Terrorist-Financing' Crypto.
The original source for Commissioner Hester M. Peirce's statement
Quote
Fifth, we have alienated a generation of product innovators within our space. Our unreasonable approach to these applications has signaled that regulatory prejudice against new products and services can lead us to sidestep the law and unreasonably delay product launches. The industry has logged hundreds of meetings, has filed submissions, withdrawals and amendments, and ultimately had to resort to a costly legal battle to get us to today.
Hester Peirce used very strong words to express her opinion on this issue, role of SEC. and what they did before this approval batch includes many shame faults. I consider her letter is like a direct strong slap against Gary Gensler.

Gary Gensler spread lies again even he voted Yes.
Statement on the Approval of Spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Products
Quote
Though we’re merit neutral, I’d note that the underlying assets in the metals ETPs have consumer and industrial uses, while in contrast bitcoin is primarily a speculative, volatile asset that’s also used for illicit activity including ransomware, money laundering, sanction evasion, and terrorist financing.

While we approved the listing and trading of certain spot bitcoin ETP shares today, we did not approve or endorse bitcoin. Investors should remain cautious about the myriad risks associated with bitcoin and products whose value is tied to crypto.
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Spot ETFs approved, Bitcoin is not fraud. Where is Jamie Dimon? on: January 11, 2024, 11:38:18 AM
Jamie Dimon said many times that Bitcoin is a fraud.

JPMorgan's Dimon says bitcoin 'is a fraud'
JPMorgan to give all wealth clients access to crypto funds.
Dimon’s many bitcoin moments of regret, in one chart.

Hours ago, SEC. approved 11 Bitcoin Spot ETFs and the big decision from SEC. is a valid recognition for Bitcoin. It is no longer a fraud and legally accepted in a biggest economic country USA.

‘Bitcoin Has No Value’: JP Morgan’s Jamie Dimon Says as Market Awaits ETF.

Bitcoin is not dead and Bitcoin is not a fraud. Since 2024, people in the USA. can invest in Bitcoin through Bitcoin Spot ETFs.

It is a very big win for Bitcoin and Bitcoin Spot ETF actually opens a new era for Bitcoin investors.

Gold ETFs changed gold price a lot.

337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will any other coins like Bitcoin be discovery in the future? on: January 09, 2024, 11:25:17 AM
Bitcoin is a decentralized currency It is very difficult to say whether such coins like Bitcoin will be discovery in the future. But in my opinion such coins will not be another discovery.
They created many altcoins and say their coins are Bitcoin killers but those coins die with time. Those coins fail to kill Bitcoin even you talk about Bitcoin Forks.

How many Bitcoin Forks are there?

Bitcoin is decentralized and it is unique. We did not have another coin among thousand of altcoins can have decentralization like Bitcoin.

Discovery, game changer are marketing words, buzz words used by altcoin developers to scam investors.
338  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sports betting arbitrage on: January 08, 2024, 02:22:36 AM
For arbitrage betting you won't need to be a genius. You need to give time. It takes a lot of time to find suitable odds. There are also odd comparison sites which can help you.
First you need to have a lot of time, then you need to have accounts with different sportsbook but you need to be aware that these sportsbooks are not using same providers. Once you have these two, arbitrage betting is simple.
I know there are sites like this for odds comparison like https://www.bestodds.ai/ . It has an announcement thread but now is a dead project.

Some sites in Casino Review, Odds comparison, Provably Fair Verifiers, Bots like [Overview] Sportsbooks odds/margin comparisons (Esports edition)

Quote
Problem is, many sportsbook will not accept you if they find out you are arbitraging. They will not pay you. If the sportsbook is highly reputable then they may return your deposit. At the end you will find, everything was wasted.

I don't suggest anyone to do arbitrage betting.
I knew this risk because I read many scam accusations from Arbitrage Sports gamblers and answers from big casinos that they detected those bets and did not accept it because their Terms of Services are against Arbitrage Betting.
339  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sports betting arbitrage on: January 07, 2024, 10:54:18 AM
Sports betting arbitrage is a strategy in which a player takes advantage of discrepancies in the odds offered by sportbetting sites to obtain profit. Have any of you tried to make money this way? what difficulties did you encounter? What bookmakers did you use? Have any of you had problems with bookmakers because of this? Why does it bother them anyway?
Gamblers must be genius to beat bookmakers to get profit from Arbitrage Sports betting.

They must be very experienced to smell chances to get profit and must do their bets very quickly and cleverly. Even so, they will have big risk that casinos, bookmakers will sooner or later, recognize it and react consequently.

The bad risk is Sportsbet bookmakers usually have Terms in their Terms of service that they are against Arbitrage betting. They are not tolerate for this betting type and if it is detected, they will have strict punishment on abused accounts.

In forum, I read some invalid scam accusations with Arbitrage bets, and not happy ending for users.
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 06, 2024, 02:16:16 AM
That’s how it is. Of course, they will be happy because they think the club will get back to form after signing Erik Ten Hag. However, Erik Ten Hag doesn’t suit Manchester United.
Strength, competitiveness and future of a club can not be decided only be a person, who is either a coach or a super star player. Erik Ten Hag can not be a person like that and he does not have magic stick to help Manchester United to win Premier League from all the mess their club has over years since Sir. Alex Ferguson's retirement.

Quote
In my opinion, if he had, he would have started delivering very well now, but since he got there, he hasn't done anything tangible. I think he didn’t have the ability to improve the club's performance and deliver a positive result, although he has actually gotten enough time. I think if Manchester United continues this way, the management may decide to fire Ten Hag and get another coach to replace him. Maybe things will go well for them.
Blaming their bad results on only Ten Hag or only any player like Cristiano Ronaldo or Harry Maguire, is not correct. They are only small pieces of many components in the club. If they club need success, it must come from many components that must work together, support each other, cover weaknesses of each other and become a solid team. It's what Manchester United don't have recent seasons and in future, they must have it first, before achieving big things.
