101  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ExchB now lets you buy Bitcoins with cash today via 15,000 locations on: September 12, 2011, 11:09:37 PM
I've done this twice now, and both times is was fast and easy.

You make a "reservation" to deposit after you login to exhangebitcoins.com.  You choose the bank and enter the amount.  Then you get a page with instructions, which I printed out and brought to the bank with me.

I made my cash deposit at the bank, filling out the deposit slip as instructed on the printout I had.

I got a receipt from the teller.

I went to lunch.  I took a picture of the receipt with my phone, and emailed it to them as specified in the instructions.  I did this while I was waiting for my food.

By the time I got back to the office, I had an email stating my deposit was confirmed.  I logged in and there it was.  I placed a buy order.

The only complaint I have at all is the volume on exhangebitcoins.com is pretty low, so trades can take several hours to complete if you are not willing to match the lowest ask, which in my two experiences has been somewhat higher than the going rate at MtGox at the time.  For example, today I paid $6.1 / BTC when MtGox was at 5.94.

That said, it is THE fastest and easiest way to get bitcoins for cash, on a weekday in the USA at least.

My funds are still at mtgox.com

I have a yubi.

Me too, on both points.

I clicked in to see who had posted this, so I could "ignore" them, and I see I had already ignored the OP.

Ignore is your friend.
104  Economy / Gambling / Re: btcLottery Results Thread on: September 12, 2011, 05:42:26 PM
Alright, I've made some adjustments.  I've lowered the payouts, and raised the bet size to .1 BTC.  If this does begin to raise the prize pool over time, I will definitely bring back min/max bets, to encourage a little more action.  Thanks for your input!  All the changes are live, and considering no one has purchased any tickets for the current game, I don't feel like I'm changing the rug under anyones feet...

Thanks again Smiley

I'm in.

Thanks Smiley Yes, 45 members withdrew more than deposited (46 already Wink)

I am on the cusp.  I deposited .25 BTC and have withdrawn .216.  Help me out http://bitcoinpyramid.com/r/345

Great game.  A slow trickle of bitcoin forever.  Grin
106  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mac .dmg, bitcoin 0.4rc2 on: September 12, 2011, 06:52:11 AM
The .dmg works for me.  And I see you fixed 2-finger scrolling with the trackpad in the address list.

I'm going to wait for the official release before I try encrypting my wallet, tho.

Thanks!  Your efforts are appreciated.
107  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Attention all Miners: BTCLOG.COM opens to the public! on: September 12, 2011, 06:42:35 AM
Your twitter requirement is a deal breaker for me.
108  Economy / Gambling / Re: btcLottery Results Thread on: September 12, 2011, 06:11:13 AM
Whoa.  I didn't realize there was a payout that could break you.

I say reduce that big payout.  I'd rather have a game every week for a long time than have you broke.

I just ordered 5.
110  Economy / Gambling / Re: btcLottery Results Thread on: September 12, 2011, 05:21:55 AM
I'm a dumbass.  I'm player #34, with the note "Original bet of .1 was over the max."

I misread the min/max.  Please  keep the .08 BTC.  I can't even buy a soda for that much, and I'm happy to tip a game operator .49 cents USD.

I guess, looking at it now, I'm surprised that the min/max are so low.  Looking at the payouts you posted, I'd probably not play again for such small amounts.

I suggest you increase the amounts by 10x.   5 BTC win would be much better than 0.5, and does anyone really object to betting 0.1 BTC?

Thanks!

The adult way to protest would be not to purchase any. The douchenozzle way would be to post lengthy detractions and assault the maker verbally.

Guess where you belong?

"douchenozzle" is my new favorite word.   Grin

I "ignored" the douchenozzle.  The ignore button is my new best friend.  I will also purchase some of these just to spite the asswipe.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full Blown MtGox Audit - Get Ready To participate. Starting Sept 25th on: September 11, 2011, 11:33:17 PM

I don't want to harm MtGox or BitCoin; however, there is not even a public policy on Marc's website about fractional reserve banking and methods of ensuring that through audits to the public. This is an opportunity for Marc! I hope he embraces it and finds me as a friend not an enemy.

You are advocating a bank run on his company.  Why in the world would he find you as a friend?  If I were him I would want to punch you in the face.

You come in with 14 posts and are already advocating the destruction of one of bitcoin's main pillars.  Why would anyone treat you as a friend?
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full Blown MtGox Audit - Get Ready To participate. Starting Sept 25th on: September 11, 2011, 10:31:27 PM
I don't understand the reasoning behind this.  Why would I do this?

MtGox has been great for Bitcoin.  Why would I punish them by using other exchanges?

In my opinion, this is a stupid stunt.  Unless, of course, you work for another exchange and are trying to screw your main competition.  Then it's an evil stunt.
114  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoinduit Source Available - See First Post For More Information.. on: September 11, 2011, 07:41:14 PM
I won both Bernie Madoff and the forever game  Grin

I was betting manually, off the time displayed on bitcoinduit.com.

I put in 4 or 5 BTC to make sure I won, including 1 or 2 BTC that was too late.  But I'm happy to have won.

Jonathan, thanks for all the fun games this past month.

Why is the game still accepting bets?  it's past noon.

I vote set all the rounds greater than 12 hours to 12 hours.  My round, The Forever Game, would be affected, and I'm fine with that.
118  Economy / Gambling / Re: THE Bitcoinduit games thread on: September 07, 2011, 12:03:37 AM
When bitcoinduit had the brief downtime a few days ago, you extended all the rounds expire time by 10 hours. Can you put them back now?  For example, "The Forever Game" was 48 hours, and now it's 58.  Could you put it back to 48?  There have been bets, so it's been reset since the downtime.

Thanks!

I don't understand #6.  It's A LOT easier to cash out then it to get USD into an exchange.

Cashing out is trivial, even.  MtGox to Dwolla to my bank.  Less than a day.  The other way around, my bank to Dwolla to MtGox, took over a week.

You can say I'm nit picking, but that ruined the joke for me.  Funny jokes are baed on truth, not lies.
120  Economy / Gambling / Re: THE Bitcoinduit games thread on: September 06, 2011, 03:38:13 AM
I lost almost all my BTC
same  Cheesy
Except I didn't really have much to begin with... mined for a week and I don't want to buy any just yet.

My loss was ugly.  Blackjack is fickle.

I was up about 7 BTC for the week so far.  I settled in to win more.

I lost about 5, then I kept trying to win them back, and lost all 10 I had in my local wallet.

So I tapped into my savings at MtGox, and lost almost all of it.  Which sucks, because the power bill is due soon, and my mining part of it is about $75.

The only bright side here is that the price has dropped to the low $7 range, so that lessens my loss a bit.  I'm just going to pay the power bill out of pocket and pick up some more BTC tomorrow.

On the bright side, the site operator noticed my huge loss and bought me 2 movie tickets of my choice.  My wife and I saw "Senna" for free yesterday.  Well, kinda free.   Cry

And no more online blackjack for a while.  Ponzi is much safer.  Grin
