in The_Longest_Round, I want the jackpot. And I will bet EVERY DAY until I win the jackpot.

He was charging $14, and was selling much faster than he expected. He doesn't get the money from his sales immediately, so he can't just go buy more.
So he raised the price to slow down sales. If people still buy, at $18, then more power to him.

my bank statement says otherwise Mine too love that namecoin made thousands off that so far.. namecoin actually has a purpose. It does something different. I'm not including namecoin in the IxCoin-bullshitCoin mix.

LH66, you have made several good points. This forum is pretty troll infested. Why do you think bitcoin.org moved us into the ghetto? However, I do take issue with your objection to *text* porn links in member's sigs. Porn has ALWAYS helped new technology. It spurred the adoption of the VHS player. It certainly helped the internet become popular. This article http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2002/mar/03/internetnews.observerfocus even argues it drove adoption of mobile phones. Bitcoin is a liberating technology. It frees us from government control. This means a lot of things, but some of the things it means is we are free to spend it as we wish, on gambling, and donations to organizations the government would rather did not exist (wikileaks), and yes, on porn. Also, many bitcoin supporters lean libertarian. I am one. A liberal-libertarian, but libertarian none the less. Libertarians HATE to be told what to do. We especially hate it when it's the government doing the telling. So, we love free speech. That means that, if we want to say what we want to say, we must tolerate it when other people say things we don't want to hear. That doesn't mean we can't argue with them. I also would not recommend this forum to many of my friends. There are a lot of asshats here. But they are asshats to everyone. Eventually, bitcoin will get a forum thats a lot less toll infested. Some users are working on this one: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/30763/bitcoin-crypto-currencyThanks

I'm for the whole .25 BTC I don't have already invested in The_Forever_Game
If you get the JackPot (.7875) it'll still payoff. I'm in line for the jackpot in The_Forever_Game (3.0 BTC), also. But, it won't come to that, in either round. Big jackpots will keep both the rounds going for days and days. They are aptly named.

Holy crap, Todd, you are in San Diego? Are you hiring? I'm a Software Developer, 13+ years experience. Perl / C / C++ / Java / Linux
Even if you are not hiring, you are going to have one of these in San Diego, right? Where?
I'm super excited about this.

I spend enough to pay for electricity, which is about $65 a month for my 900 MH/s.
What % of your BTC income would you guess that is? Today, at $11? 900 MH/s gives me approx 14 BTC a month. $65 at $11/BTC = 5.9 BTC = 42% However, my next bill is not due for a few weeks yet, and I hope to get a better price than $11. For example, if I am able to sell at $14, it would be 33%

Off-topic, I agree.
If people want to, as I see it, waste their time with these clones, hey, that's up to them.
My concern is that uninformed people will be confused by them, for example, the media at the Bitcoin Convention seeing the IxCoin table.
I think, when the question comes up, we need to have a good answer. I like "They are experiments based off of Bitcoin. The result of these experiments validate the inherent value in Bitcoin", or something like that.

Sorry, ableorange, I can usually hold myself back from making useless comments about things I disagree with, but the sheer number of these things coming out in the last week or two is getting ridiculous.
They at least should be in their own sub-forum, or "off-topic". This is bitcointalk.org, not bitcoinclones.org.
OK, my feelings on bitcoin clones are on the record. I will not make another post about it.

I am currently last in at #12. I'd be happy to take the 3 BTC jackpot. So, please, no one else get in. Leave that sweet sweet 3.0 BTC all to me.

The great thing about a big jackpot is this: I'm currently last in line, at #9, a 2 BTC bet. In most rounds, I'd be worrying "Oh, no, what if no one else joins! I'll lose 2BTC!" but in this round, if no one else joins, I'll get the jackpot, currently at 2.55 (I'm not last anymore). So, what if 1 more person gets in line behind me (just happened). Then, if no one else gets in, he'll get the jackpot and then I will lose my 2 BTC. If it comes down to that, I'll get in again at the 1 BTC min to try to win the jackpot. But it won't because someone else will get in to try to win the jackpot. As Bitcat.ch round #4 taught us, a big jackpot - a forever game. (Bitcat.ch round for has been running for several weeks) It will slow down at some point, but the 1.15x low payout will help keep it going. And while it will eventually slow, it won't stop. The jackpot will keep getting bigger and more tempting, and the Bitcoin Conference this weekend will bring in a lot a noobs looking to spend their shiny new BTC on something.

It's that big jackpot that will keep people coming in forever.
