461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Seniors vs Kids — in the future of Bitcoin on: July 04, 2023, 03:19:27 AM

I think we should not be asking the contributions of kids on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as they are just starting in life and just about to be facing the many good and bad realities of this world. But we can be evaluating the many things that younger people - I guess those belonging below 30. Being technology-driven, younger people has a big space in cryptocurrency and in fact we have many famous personalities who made their mark in crypto while still young though we should not also discount what older people contributed along the way.

As of now, we can promote the education of cryptocurrency and the importance of this into their future as the world is really changing in  a fast-paced nature. I am sure that the future of today's children will be so radical or different than what we 'seniors" had. Right now is the right time to prepare them to be tough and be resilient and never be feeling "privileged" so they can survive the nastiness of this world.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 will determined bitcoin fate on: July 03, 2023, 05:24:25 AM
What are you talking about?

No the interval isn't five years. The market cycle is four years, and followings the halving cycle. Last big market cycle bull run was not 2017, it was 2021. Next one will be 2024/25.

And no, this doesn't determine Bitcoin's fate. Bitcoin is continuing to grow like it always does, and go through its 4 year market cycles like it always does. Nobody is wondering or worried about Bitcoin's fate.

I fully agree with this. Bitcoin enthusiasts and supporters know that Bitcoin will eventually fulfill its fate and destiny though of course there can be some debate on what that fate is. What can happened in 2024 will surely be a part of is exciting history but it will surely not be a make or break one. Surely, 2023 is the best year to accumulate Bitcoin though of course one has to be always mindful of the risks involve.
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gensler can destroy the U.S. crypto industry but he can’t kill crypto on: July 03, 2023, 05:17:41 AM

I don't think that Gary Gensler will eventually be that successful in his plan to kick and destroy cryptocurrency in the USA market. However, I am sure that many crypto-based firms are now planning to get out of USA - and this is so sad and is going to be working not favorable to the country - so they will not be victims of the wrong mindset now evading SEC. Instead of working with the industry and make it come under the right regulations in place, it is declaring to be an enemy. Gensler is just a temporary blip and he will be the one to one day go away and crypto will survive. Gensler will have a legacy on his face as the SEC Chairman who is the big joker in the industry.
464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will debanking Nigel Farage affect Bitcoin? on: July 01, 2023, 01:01:10 PM

I am not so familiar with this UK personality named Nigel Farage but I remember years ago reading something from an online magazine of his role in Brexit. I am amazed that the banking industry is turning its back on him...and definitely it would be so difficult for someone to conduct business without the use of banks most especially that even crypto-based firms are still connected to banks. Yes, he might as well be supporting Bitcoin but that come also with a price as he can be a more target of banks and those in the government not so friendly with the cryptocurrency movement. Anyway, good luck to him and I am suggesting that he move to El Salvador.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Carolina is pushing forward a bill to study holding Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 03:54:41 AM

This is a good move. Hopefully, the study can find more rewards than risks in holding Bitcoin as we know that it is a very volatile asset unlike gold which is moving slowly. Anyway, this is just a study but then again this shows that more and more institutions even coming from the government side are now showing strong interest on cryptocurrency and how they can be able to take a good ride with the waves. Well, the timing is right and hope they take a good move in getting some BTC as soon as possible.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 03:50:37 AM

I first heard Bitcoin in particular and cryptocurrency in general via social media or Facebook to be specific. Without the socmed, I don't think cryptocurrency will be as known as we have today. And all of these things opened up all because of the internet, of course. I am sure that social media will continue to be a big influencing factor in the march of Bitcoin into the mainstream population so that one day we can witness BTC pushed into higher heights ultimately reaching a million dollar value whenever that can be.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [INFO]Hong Kong's HSBC Allows Customers to Trade Bitcoin. on: June 29, 2023, 04:21:43 AM

Big banks like HSBC has no choice but to slowly open itself up with the cryptocurrency industry as they know that there is an immense demand and interest from their customer base. Of course, these banks are really careful on what they do and they are doing it with the coordination of those in power so as to avoid crossing the line, so to speak. With regulations already in placed, Hong Kong is right now doing its best to attract crypto-based players coming from different parts of the world most especially that of USA since we know that SEC is waging a very unfortunate war on the whole industry. Many big crypto platforms are already thinking of getting out of USA as they can no more bear the lack of direction and of course to get away from possible prosecution from a certain Mr. Gary Gensler. And of these positive developments in the Hong Kong market while China is watching...no wonder there are now many who are speculating that soon we can see China again opening its door for the crypto industry and be a dominant country for it with the subtle intention of also beating USA with this growing industry which can be a vehicle to attract more capital and influence.
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first purchase in btc: the craziest, the most moving, the most expensive on: June 28, 2023, 08:16:45 AM

I can still remember the very reason why I got into Bitcoin and that was to join a "ponzi" type of program which of course ended up to be a scam. Now, I was then so native when I enter the world of online thinking that all the hypes and promises by famous money programs at that time will really get me so rich so quickly - of course, I paid my tuition fee and never again! Aside from that, I also bought some "red flag" type of shitcoin called as TBC or The Billion Coin - well the very name in itself can be a big discouraging factor and it ended up with all of us not getting our billions.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Buys Bitcoin When The Price is 100k$? on: June 27, 2023, 08:45:32 AM

Nobody can be sure if BTC will be soon be breaching the $100K zone...and if when. However, I am actually looking forward at that time since it would be signaling that cryptocurrency is definitely here to stay and has already taken its place in the mainstream population especially with the big and small investors all around the world. Just like any other investment vehicle, there will always be buys and sellers for as long as there is a good level of liquidity in the marketplace. Now, of course, there will always be winners and losers too as any asset can go high or can go low. There is always that "gambling" side to anything even including the very fiat money you can be holding in your pocket right now. I might not be buying BTC if the price is $100K but don't worry the market for crypto does not revolve around me...just kidding.
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does a whale sell its huge amount of bitcoins and change them into fiats? on: June 27, 2023, 08:39:26 AM

Nobody here is worrying how one whale can be turning his/her BTC into fiat and not be caught red-handed by glaring authorities (yes, of course, the conversion can be done slowly so as to never reach the red flag level). Now, I think the big program is NOT having enough Bitcoin on someone's wallet that can be sold once there can be a big bull run soon - that is when BTC will breach the $60K level and then get into the 7-digit zone. I am expecting that there can be a big wave of interest with BTC coming from both institutional and retail investors so better watch out for that and continue holding your BTC guys!
471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin whale 'awakens' after 10 years. on: June 26, 2023, 12:53:19 PM

Amazing to know that this simple act of "resurrection" actually made some dint in the marketplace. Anyway, am sure we could just speculate as to the surrounding story of the wallet owner and the main intent of that move. Let's see if he would be letting go of his BTC or readying to do the same in case there can be a big bullish move of the market.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: June 26, 2023, 12:48:51 PM

I worked hard for my small hoard of Bitcoin and I got no short-term plan of using them just to buy anything that I know I can use my usual cash or card in doing so. I know that this can be the HOLD mindset but in my country getting some Bitcoin is not as easy as getting into the grocery and then pay for anything your eyes laid into. Now, in case there can be a time when I would have millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin in my card then maybe I would be using the available TM to withdraw some cash. Generally, mainstream population is not yet so addicted to the idea of BTC ATM but having one near can be so convenient.

474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.7 billion people are still Unbanked; chances for bitcoin on: June 25, 2023, 04:40:46 AM

I agree that unbanked people can be a big market for Bitcoin or cryptocurrency but let's be honest that this is not as simple as it should be. One, this is only possible if there is a critical number of people that will almost simultaneously adopt Bitcoin so they can do P2P option as without the establishment of other third-party infrastructure it would be almost impossible to attract a big number of people to its side. What we are seeing now in El Salvador can be a big experiment with Bitcoin as it is their own government promoting it...but in other parts of the world we know that those in powers are not so interested with crypto. Certainly, there are many factors that we have to consider before we can say that Bitcoin is going to be helping the unbanked...but maybe things are getting more rosier that before...who knows time will come when Bitcoin will really sprout and be experiencing massive adoption.
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has Bitcoin suddenly jumped above $30,000? - 06/21/23 on: June 25, 2023, 04:27:08 AM

I am not actually so sure the many factors for the ongoing surge of BTC in the vicinity of $30K but maybe this has something to do with solidifying institutional interest especially the one in relation to Bitcoin ETF. Now, I also heard somewhere that there seems to be a big possibility of China again opening its door with Bitcoin and maybe with cryptocurrency as they are getting good signals with Hong Kong right now. Now, whatever can be the reason/s, I am quite happy and excited that despite the not-so-encouraging pressures applied by the SEC USA, we are seeing the cryptocurrency getting more resilient.
476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Disappearance of cash and bitcoin as an alternative? on: June 24, 2023, 02:09:48 AM

Right now, we are in the verge - or the founding stage - of digitalization most especially with many countries already experimenting the use of CBDCs. I am sure that in the coming years there can be a big push for more and more digital-based transactions even going down to the lowest level which is the consumers and here in my country this is already happening though we are not yet as advanced as Western economies. Now, having said that, I am not inclined to believe that cash as we know it will be totally wiped out as some will still prefer to be traditional and we have to respect that.
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost coins redistribution on: June 24, 2023, 02:02:23 AM

I also love the idea but then again with the current set-up of Bitcoin this is actually an impossibility. So maybe we can propose like creating a new cryptocurrency or a token corresponding to the number of BTC presumed to have been lost already...but then maybe the next question is how it is going to be distributed and who will be the recipients. Maybe all active members of this forum can be entitled to get some - anyway this is just my humble opinion. Otherwise we have to accept the fact that what was lost is already history and can never be recovered anymore.
478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would the advancement in AI have any adverse effects on cryptocurrency? on: June 23, 2023, 04:37:52 AM

I am sure that AI would be a very positive development for Bitcoin and the rest of cryptocurrency. In fact, I am seeing that there can be many AI platforms to be adopting cryptocurrency or have tokens of their own for the use of the general public. I see no conflict of interest here but both of them can be complimentary...that is judging by the way things are turning out so far. I am looking forward for the blockchain technology and AI to be holding hands in hands offering people many good benefits. Let's see how things can turn out to be...and I am excited on this.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Asset Or Currency? on: June 22, 2023, 03:04:33 AM

In your opinion, bitcoin is an asset or a currency?

If bitcoin is an asset, it is now. Most people will hold bitcoin as an asset and take advantage of the rising price of bitcoin. If so you are still dominated by fiat

If bitcoins were currency, it would be complicated if bitcoins were used to buy cheap things, transaction fees would be very expensive

I have many questions in this thread. Sorry if my argument isn't comprehensive, I don't have a deep understanding of bitcoin yet

In my own humble opinion - and I think there is a general consensus on this one - is that Bitcoin is both a currency and an asset. I am defining an asset as anything that has some accepted value in the market so BTC is definitely falling into this category. Now, since Bitcoin can be used as a medium of exchange and is highly traded then it is also acting as a currency. There can be some technical difference subject to debates and differing standpoints but generally no one can argue that it is both currency and asset. As to transaction fees which can be higher than usual, there are now good developments on that aspect so let's join its journey towards massive adoption.
480  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Question from a newbie - raising $100 in BTC for charity on: June 22, 2023, 02:46:06 AM

I admire your intent to be doing something for charity purposes and I am sure that soon you can find a way to make it. Here in this forum there is a section for people offering services so maybe you can look for that also. Now, we also have many freelancing sites you can explore. Just be careful with some programs offering you some form of a "job" but is actually a paid program false marketed as a job opportunity.
