61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought FBTC in my 401k. First time ever holding crypto for retirement. on: February 09, 2024, 06:41:00 AM
With this move you are not holding crypto at all... you are holding ETFs... is important to mention that FBTC (Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund) is not Bitcoin, and you are not holding the keys of those coins. But as an investment is not a bad move at all. Right now the price is $39.58 and it could have a massive jump in the next months. So, good luck with your investment.

While we don't encourage people most especially member of this forum to take a plunge and invest with ETFs, we should also understand that it can be a good investment vehicle one can get into, that is in addition to actually holding the real BTC in one's secured wallet. So this is a matter of choice and maybe a matter of diversity of investments. I am just wondering: if one has already BTC and will also go into ETF...can we consider this as diversification or just the same basket with new eggs?
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are credit unions so much safer than banks? on: February 09, 2024, 06:34:45 AM

Why are the big banks so corrupt and incompetent?

This is a big question that ordinary guys like us maybe hard to answer. I would guess that big banks can be so corrupt is because they are just working for money...the more money they can get the better it would be for them and their stakeholders. In other words, there is no involvement with the people or those they are servicing, in the firs place. They are allowing greed to come in and be the center of them all. As shown in the past, the government is very much willing to bail them out so they are now taking excessive risks because they are sure of support once something can really go wrong big time. Now, the mindset can be so different for credit unions. Here in my country, we don't have credit unions but we have credit cooperatives which have similarities in concept, design and implementation.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Bitcoin in a Cashless Society on: February 07, 2024, 04:02:54 AM

Imagine a world where your grandma pays for cookies with BTC - wild, right? 🍪 Are we heading there or hitching a ride to a different destination?

We are heading there for sure but the road can be bumpy and there will be many distractions along they way which again am sure can make grandma a little bit dizzy so maybe I would prefer to deal with grandpa here. Now, seriously, being a payment system in a cashless society is one of the big vision for Bitcoin in a P2P setting but we know that for now there can be hiccups for this scenario to fully be effective. So am still so happy that am using BTC as a store of value because I am selfish and greedy too just like grandma...I would like to be rich and BTC can be the tool for me towards that direction. By the way, are you my grandson?
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you spent $500-$1000 on bitcoin in 2009-2010 on: February 07, 2024, 03:58:09 AM

This can only happen if you are 100% sure that one Bitcoin would survive, flourish and become very valuable...even much higher than gold. Unless you have that power to predict the future or maybe has a very effective crystal ball that can see the future, it would be impossible for you to do something like what you are proposing. And that is precisely what happened...nobody would have used his BTC to buy those famous pizzas if someone was then whispering him what can the future of BTC. And of course, early holders of BTC would not have sold their BTC at so low prices if there was someone who told them that BTC can be worth $40K each today. We can only imagine what can be...but in reality a scenario like this is humanly impossible.

67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Updates from the COPA v Craig Wright trial on: February 06, 2024, 09:56:54 AM

...and Craig's defence seemed to consist of just letting the court know about Craig's autism and previous suicide attempt due to the stress of trying and failing to prove he's Satoshi. I guess they know they're probably not going to win this so are going for the sympathy route or at least bracing themselves for inevitable failure and using Craig's autism as an excuse for the lies and forged documents.

I am not following this case as I don't have the time for anything related to Craig Wrong...I mean Wright but his saga is really interesting and even angered many people who are the supporters and enthusiasts of Bitcoin. Right from the very start the man is obviously fake and I am even wondering why the media is letting the man play his claims to the roof. Now, am not against anybody's autism and we should be kind to people who are autistic though in the case of Craig I think it is quite funny that his defense his using his condition - that is assuming this is not just another lie - to his advantage. I am sure the court would be ruling eventually against him and COPA will win the case.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help me understand this apparent contradiction between bitcoin and inflation on: February 06, 2024, 09:49:46 AM

But if bitcoin is a hedge against inflation then shouldn't the bitcoin price rise when inflation goes up instead of going down?

Ideally in the minds of many, that should be the case but since we are not living in a perfect and flawless world, there are things that are subject to realities in the market and that also includes Bitcoin since it is traded in an open market like we have right now and to which anyone can freely participate in the process. Now, the idea that Bitcoin is a hedge inflation is coming from the fact that it has a limited - a fixed number of coins as against the limitless printing of fiat money as to be decided by central bankers and the government. As we have seen in the history of Bitcoin, I think it is playing that part in most of the time though it does not mean the price of BTC would not go down as, again, it is subject to the market forces moving around.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Metamask now supporting bitcoin? on: February 05, 2024, 09:14:51 AM

Yes, I don't think that Bitcoin's blockchain is compatible with MetaMask EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). Perhaps this is just a mistake, maybe what they meant is Wrapped BTC or WBTC. And any case, this just shows how poor crypto journalism is.

What can you expect when those who are reposting on crypto news actually do not understand cryptocurrency in the first place?  This can be easily rectified if the author is really into Bitcoin and the alts and the things in between including wallet matters. Anyway, maybe the point is that there are now people who are looking forward to see BTC supported by Metamask...but is that even remotely possible?
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to present the previous history of Bitcoin to the general public through. on: February 05, 2024, 09:05:52 AM

Go where the young people can be congregating online - and yes even offline - and in there share content that can get their interest piqued on Bitcoin and how it is the future of money today. Naturally, share the many good features of Bitcoin and the many benefits that can be derived out of it starting on the financial side. We are all greedy and selfish...we are always asking what can we derived personally out of something so that can be a good area to focus on. Now, you can start a Facebook group on this matter too and even use X and Tiktok for the said goal. There are a lot of ways that you can utilize these days but you need to understand that it is not actually your job to entice young people to Bitcoin...you are just doing it for fun.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does BTC mean to you? on: February 05, 2024, 09:00:04 AM

Although there can be definitive definition of Bitcoin maybe technically speaking, on a personal level it can mean differently from one person to another depending a lot on the real and perceived impact it created on the specific person. As for me, it is more of an investment that paid a lot and then slowly I learned of the many things it is symbolizing like empowering people away from the control of institutions like governments and banks, for that matter. Bitcoin can still be considered as a young boy and there will be more to its story and history as it is now on its second decade of existence.

Good luck and more power!
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Buy your non-valid cryptocurrency on: February 04, 2024, 04:19:50 AM

I agree with Reatim, your vague advertisement is unlikely to attract anyone's attention. What exactly do you mean by "non-valid cryptocurrency"?

I am also confused with the meaning of "non-valid cryptocurrency" but maybe it is referring to DEAD coins and tokens which already have no value in the crypto marketplace. And if that is the case, isn't it dubious in the first place because why would anyone buy something that is already worthless when it would be so easy to mint a coin or to produce tokens these days. Anyway, I am just wondering on this offer so it would be good if OP will instead give us details here in the forum rather than in TG.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it valid to invest in a gaming projects? on: February 04, 2024, 04:13:15 AM
I find it suspicious how new accounts join the forum and post asking if it’s wise to invest in a project and then share their details. I think it’s shilling because all the topics have the same pattern, and all the time, it’s always a newbie account. I don’t think I’m the one who has noticed this but I’m saying it because it’s become too obvious. If I’m wrong and your question is actually real then it’s as simple as: Gaming niche projects are great to invest in, but research properly on which.

Yes, of course, this post and similar ones are just shilling here...promoting all they can so as to get more people to be interested and eventually maybe "invest" with the project. I am not into gaming really though I got some brief experience with P2E where players are more motivated with gains rather than playing itself...just looking for rewards when they are still have some value and then will be gone when the value of the P2E tokens is gone to the wind. We have already seen this same thing with hugely popular P2E gaming platforms two years ago. I am hoping that the project promoted by OP would not suffer the same fate.

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Xrp still worth to break its previous 3.4$ ATH? on: February 03, 2024, 09:39:49 AM

I don't think XRP has already secured a win in the case filed against it by SEC though there are those who are predicting that it would eventually win the case then there is a big chance for XRP to gain price mileage though it would be hard for it to go back to its last ATH. There are now better competitors in the market and they are more advanced and agile than what XRP can offer...hence XRP is already considered to be old and sluggish. XRP has already lost that excitement and pioneering spirit hence there are many supporters who are already turning away from it. But then am not really an expert on things to come so I would be happy to be proven wrong!
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about this top GambleFi projects site? on: February 03, 2024, 09:32:20 AM

Your site is a good listing of the top - I assumed - projects dealing with the gambling industry and using decentralization as well as cryptocurrency to their advantage and supposedly also with their token holders hence the term referring to GamblingFi. I am not a big fan of gambling as I don't have posses any lucky charm with any type of gambling. Now, with that, I know that gambling is quite a big industry and can be one of the best ways to make huge money usually for operators or those doing business and maybe also some money for people like you promoting it. Good luck.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How a $112 Million XRP Hack Shook the Crypto World! on: February 02, 2024, 07:43:53 AM
Lol, another proof that XRP is not worth our money. When a co-founder can't keep his coins safe - it means something.

While I might agree with you on this statement that this event is a big smack on the face of XRP or rather the people behind it as we are expecting that being someone who is very much schooled on cryptocurrency, the ins and outs of the whole thing and the bigger knowledge on security issues around cryptocurrency yet we should also understand that no one is really immune with hacking much more so if you are a big holder like Chris Larsen, the co-founder and executive chairman of Ripple. The danger of hacking including scamming is all upon us. For now, this is not affecting XRP that much and so I am hoping this can be a big lesson to all of us to never take security for granted.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid getting rugpulled on: February 02, 2024, 07:27:22 AM

In my own view, there are no known ways and means to guarantee that a certain project would not go south - or rugpulled as they say which is presenting an image to me of people holding empty bags as the coins/tokens they trust suddenly lost value. Well, I have to admit it that am one of the many victims of rugpulls even with those I analyze well and seems to possess no red flags prima facie. This is a big negative reality in the crypto industry as people show their greed either get the money or lose the money. I am looking forward that there can be solid solutions to this problem.
