201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So ... Can Goverment stop Bitcoin ? on: October 29, 2014, 08:08:49 PM
I saw a lot of posts , some people says they can't , other says they can . (nah , not shutdown the whole internet)
Since it's Peer to peer (P2P) can't  ISP close some ports or something like that so the wallets don't work ? I'am not sure , just asking , if Anyone know , share your knowledge guys

Well first obvious question is which government are we talking about?  There's kinda a lot of them.  Assuming you mean the federal government of the USA, I can't really see any scenario where they would try to.  If they did though yes of course they could effectively crush it as a currency, at least within the USA.  I'm not sure why there is even any doubt about that?
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Technology Can Significantly Simplify Modern Banking on: October 28, 2014, 07:46:55 PM
What makes you think the banks of any desire at all to clear transactions instantly?  The technology to do that has existed for decades.  In at least in the USA, transactions DO clear instantly.  But of course if we wait 5 days to "officially" clear your transactions we get an interest free loan.  Why would we want to change that?
203  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] NEW 110 MH/s A2 Terminator SCRYPT Mining Machine 28nm ASICs on: October 27, 2014, 06:10:01 AM
So, no proof you have it, and you won't accept escrow.  And you're obviously lying in you're ebay description calling it new when it obviously isn't.
Pretty obvious scam.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: October 21, 2014, 07:53:33 AM
I received already 3 emails like your. and every single time I reply I don.t want 30 or 50 or 99% refund  I want my viper or 100 % and what they send me back ..... the same story about tc blalala. End of october will open case with my lawyer it;s cost me more than 800 but 100 %  they will pay back full ammount + each day fees calculated since they brake the tc.(credit card used for that diffrent story with debit account) copy of tc was changed 3 or 4 times since they takes preorders.

It's better to go for 50% refund than delivery of the miner even they will do it today.
Otherwise,  you have an option to sue them.

Right-o. We have a large community that's suing Alpha over at http://fightalpha.net

With success stories.

Smiley

Winning a lawsuit isn't a success story.  Getting a judgement isn't a success story.  Getting your actual money is a success story.  I do not believe there have been any success stories.

Is this a sale or an auction?  If a sale what is the asking price, if an auction, what are the terms?
206  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thoughts on microchip implants? on: October 21, 2014, 12:44:58 AM
What are your thoughts on microchip implants? Do you think they will positively contribute to society?

Here is what I think.

We already use smartphones, they have become our own personal identification. We have the forced National ID, which we are required to possess at all times and may get in serious trouble if found without one. We could abolish the National ID and have optional, not mandatory implants. I think they'll allow us to easily combat human trafficking. If we can integrate GPS tracking in such a chip, a missing child can not only be found easily, but we can eliminate the chances of such a tragedy happening. We could also devise a way to pay using Bitcoin by scanning it, similar to the QR code method we have.

Of course, we are many many years behind such a thing to ever be released. The technology exists alright, but not in an implantable form due to public opinion (See: Google Glass, SmartWatch, for wearable devices)

Well first off who is "we"?  My country for example does not have a forced national id which we are required to posses at all times so it would help to know what country you are from.

As for the rest, I personally would avoid them if at all possible.  Given a quick look at how the government and large corporations have taken virtually every piece of technology and used it for their own gain whenever possible, I can't really see any benefit to myself.

It was such an obvious scam from the start...I am shocked anyone sent them funds. How many times do people need to get burned on pre orders before they figure it out?

Bingo!  This is why no one cares or is talking about it.  At this point, if you give your money to one of these companies on a pre order product that doesn't exist yet, we all know you're going to get ripped off.  It isn't news when it happens any more then the sun coming up tomorrow is news.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: October 20, 2014, 09:17:01 AM
Eerie amount of silence between their 'we have packaged chips ready to install and ship' and now. You'd think by now they'd be posting up some live-run test figures. I'm sure they'll follow in the next couple of days.

What I find really shocking about all this is that even now after everything, there are still people who would actually believe that anything they said is true.

Here's an example of why people need decentralized currency.
When you trust bankers with your money, they can steal it, and shut off your card at any time.
This is how they've been controlling people for decades.

Obama’s credit card denied at restaurant
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/oct/17/obamas-credit-card-rejected-new-york-trip/

You do realize that a credit card isn't currency at all?  "when you trust bankers with your money..."  It isn't your money, it's the banks.  It's a loan.  With no collateral.  You can't do that with bitcoin at all, so how are these two things even remotely comparable?
212  Economy / Economics / Re: How Bitcoin can solve financial problems in Africa on: October 18, 2014, 07:06:49 PM
Bitcoin can solve "financial problems" everywhere, as it's vastly superior to fiat money.

How so?
213  Economy / Economics / Re: More gold-like cryptocurrency mining rules on: October 18, 2014, 08:07:04 AM
Right, but the point is, you're proposing completely re designing  how the whole thing works.  Assuming there is a problem, that it is real, if your proposal will have only a negligible affect on the problem then why bother?
214  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] L1 120Mh/s BITMAIN Miner (scrypt, scrypt-n, x11) on: October 17, 2014, 09:36:25 PM
If you mine scrypt-n with this you will be making over $100 a day! don't miss out on this great deal

Then why are you selling it?
215  Economy / Economics / Re: More gold-like cryptocurrency mining rules on: October 17, 2014, 08:14:58 PM
Your premise is completely false.  The large price fluctuations in BTC are almost exclusively demand driven (i.e., speculation) and have very little to do with supply.  And in any case, the supply is not fixed with respect to time the way you think it is.  Obviously, were prices to rise substantially, some people currently holding BTC would sell, and the reverse is also true.
216  Economy / Economics / Re: How Bitcoin can solve financial problems in Africa on: October 17, 2014, 06:58:36 PM
BitPost has recently published an article explaining the ways Bitcoin could help African economics. Written by a writer from Kenya.
http://bit-post.com/africa-in-the-age-of-bitcoin/

Are here any African citizens? What's your point of view?

Okay maybe my reading comprehension skills just suck today, but I didn't see him explain even a single way how bitcoin can uniquely help solve financial problems in Africa.
217  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: how can mining still be profitable even for the big farms on: October 16, 2014, 08:07:29 PM
Noone sinks that many millions into huge facilities like that without a long term plan so people should not assume the big farms are turning a profit 'at the moment'.

My guess is its a waiting game, as Ive said in the past, first to blink.

5 or more large players owning a huge chunk of the hashrate, holding the difficulty up to break point and waiting firstly for the small players to drop out then medium players rigs to become unprofitable enough to drop out eventually only leaving those players too big to quit.

If they can hold the hashrate to dollar value high enough that noone in their right mind would every want to contest them, then they have won the arms race.

The end game then is a bitcoin version of OPEC (  perhaps Organization of the Bitcoin Exporting Companies - possibly a reincarnation of the Bitcoin Foundation ) which will be an economic cartel with the task to coordinate the policies of the bitcoin mining conglomerates. The goal would be to secure a steady income to the large mining conglomerates and to steady the price of bitcoin while guaranteeing constant supply to the markets.

Basically a complete bastardisation of everything Satoshi tried to create.

1.  Bitcoin is not a consumable commodity like oil, nor does it have a relatively inelastic demand.  There is NO comparison whatsoever between Bitcoin and OPEC or oil.  None.
2.  What Satoshi tried to create?    I've read his white paper many times as I'm sure you have as well, and there is NOTHING in it abut trying to create anything other than a trust-less, irrevocable electronic payment system, which isn't bastardized or even effected by who is profiting from the mining.
218  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Betrayal of the ASIC manufacturers on: October 16, 2014, 03:02:11 AM
What did you think, they were going to sell you hundred dollar bills for 75 bucks?

ASIC retailers should deliver fully functional products to their declared specifications within the time-frame allotted. No more, No less.

The fact that that's even mildly contested is insane.

It isn't contested at all.  Every time one of these comes up I read the terms and they invariably state quite clearly that they are not offering any guarantee of delivery by a particular date.  Obviously I haven't read every single one so it is possible there are exceptions, but in general, they always use forward looking statements backed up with no guarantee.  It would be like going out with a girl who tells you up front that you aren't exclusive, and then getting pissed when she bangs some other dude because you chose to ignore what was told to you.  Whats more, we are how many years into this now and these things STILL sell out every single time.  At a certain point people have to take a little personal responsibility in the situation.  To further my previous analogy, by like the 30th other dude she bangs, at some point we're just going to assume you like your girl banging other dudes.
At this point in the game unless you are brand new to bitcoin you know flat out that you aren't going to get your merch until it is all used up so if you buy anyway, whos fault is that?
219  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Betrayal of the ASIC manufacturers on: October 16, 2014, 02:21:29 AM
There's nothing wrong with ASIC manufacturer's pocketing a larger share of the money than those they sell miners to.

The problem arises when they defraud investors with intentional deceit.

Most companies make money off of the initial opportunity granted by having investment capital from home miner's orders. Then they pocket an additional portion of the investor's expected return, causing most to go into the red.

No other consumer industry would be able to do this.
It's a fact that will tarnish cryptocurrencies indefinitely, regardless of how widely accepted they become.

Pretty much agree with this.  In a way they are like the bankers from the old school banking and stock exchange  system of wealth.

Should be fun to see what happens when the two square off to slice up the pie so to speak.   lets see if old money men simply absorb them.
It is well known that ASIC manufacturers can produce ASICs for next to nothing. If they are not able to sell their machines at retail prices I don't see any reason why they would not use their existing inventory to mine instead of just letting it "sit" in their warehouse.

That seems mostly irrelevant. It's about delivering as advertised.

If ASIC manufacturers want to mine with every ASIC they create that's well and good. They shouldn't sell consumers faulty, out of date, intentionally worthless hardware.

What did you think, they were going to sell you hundred dollar bills for 75 bucks?
220  Economy / Economics / Re: Who understand options pricing? on: October 15, 2014, 07:29:18 PM
We need a person who is good at pricing options. We will have a great offer for you.

You need to be very familiar with the Black-Scholes model. If you are familiar with stochastic volatility models as well, that will be great.

And then? If someone knows how to do that? Are you going to hire him/her?

We cannot hire you to trade for us as we strictly disallow any members in the company to trade in the platform to ensure its fairness.
You can become our partner and enjoy rebate. Then you can make profit by trading and by receiving rebate.

So basically you want someone to do work for you for free?  Gee sign me up!
