361  Economy / Goods / Re: For Sale: 2x ATI HD 5770's on: July 21, 2011, 03:36:18 AM
I'd be interested in these. Do you still have them?
362  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What's a good deal in USD for a 5870? on: July 21, 2011, 03:21:18 AM
Also most cards on Ebay, have no refunds / returns, so I am just glad when I get the card it works and is not a DOA.

Anyone using ebay who finds card where they won't offer a DOA should just let these be. It's sketchy as it is. I've been on both sides of the fence, I'd much prefer to do a face to face. I've picked up 4 5870's within an hour distance of me on craigslist. First, I know where the guy lives. IF something fishy happens, I can come back and either grief them to hell, or ask for some help in getting it RMA'd. Most people are much nicer when faced in person.

Hmmm....strange i havent seen you over 750 or so yet... can you post a screenshot or something showing me this?

I would say I'm sorry, but I can't apologize for the transformer outside my house blowing TWICE in the last 24 hours. They finally put a new fancy one up! (It's made me a very unhappy person. Power went down about 10 minutes after I joined MF with full power.)

Hashrate is back over 1gh/s with room to spare!

1) Bring 1 GH/s or more to the pool and post here in this thread that you have signed up and are mining at ~1GH/s and i will toggle your account to 0 fees

Simply because we are a new pool and dont have the reserves to front the 50 BTC ourselves yet.  Until 120 confirms there can always be a risk that the block we found can be orphaned and we receive no money for it.  At the moment, making no profit, we havent yet decided to take that risk.   We arent the only ones who work this way, btw.  Most other pools are similar.

Indeed, most are not. I've just been used to working with BTCguild (Currently the backup). I hope MF is DDoS resilient, as that is one of the big reasons I had to find a new pool. Lost far too many shares in that debacle.

Connected to this pool this morning before I read all the info about it. Wanted to see the stability over 12 hours first, so I used 1/2 a 5870. I'll switch fully over now, it may not be completely free but I like the concept!

Have I missed something casually perusing these forums? Why must it be 120 blocks? That's a relatively long time.
366  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD6xxx memory underclocking to 300mhz possible? on: July 20, 2011, 03:03:12 AM
What are you using to underclock it?
367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [system sales] computer hardware for bitcoins on: July 19, 2011, 11:32:51 PM
Like all other computer shops, this guy charges an outrageous price. His "new system special" is about twice the cost of the parts to do it. But hey... Suckers are born everyday, and since I give him props for taking bitcoins.

Vga switch box would work, as long as it provides a resistance. Pick any brand. I have a rosewill two port.. works fine.
369  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Maximising MH/J on: July 18, 2011, 04:28:30 AM
Reducing the RAM clock and worksize lost me far too much hash rate to be viable.

Reduce ram clock to about 1/3 your core clock, the 300mhz is a reference everyone throws out. I've done this on all my cards, it doesn't effect the performance. Even if you have to run it a bit higher, say 400mhz, that should be more than plenty and it's saving you 5-700mh/s of memory clock that isn't getting used.

The 6xxx series work better with 256 work size.

Haven't read through the entire posting yet, but have you tried underclocking/volting your hypertransport? Slowing down the pci/e lanes? I mean... if your card is using 16 lanes, and you only "need" one lane, then couldn't you reduce the lane to 1/16 the original speed and still maintain overall bandwidth?

Use services.msc in windows to disable stuff your pc does not need to be running. Could shave cpu cycles allowing you to slow your cpu down even further.

Edit: I get the idea you are not running windows. So scratch that last line.
370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mix and Match Cards? on: July 18, 2011, 04:01:31 AM
I'm fairly certain you can mix-match different model cards ( I.E. 6850 and a 6870 ) but don't quote me. You cannot however mix and match NVidia and ATi

You CAN mix and match cards. I'm doing it right now with a 5870 and a 460. You just can't use the nvida card as a phsyx card for gaming while doing so.
371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much BTC are you generating on an average day mining? on: July 16, 2011, 01:12:48 AM
I'm getting a bit over 1 btc a day with 2gh/s. Enough to buy me a new part nearly every other week Cheesy
372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Adding some mining cards to my rig... on: July 14, 2011, 02:55:12 AM
You could underclock the 2 extra cards you put in. Not the most efficient of ideas, but more streams running at a slightly lower speed is better than fewer running faster. Also this would generate less heat that you'd have to pump out.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/07/13/bitcoin_mining_gpu_performance_comparison/3

"Sorted most expensive to least expensive, longer bars = better value"

Now I guess if they go by the prices you'd pay off ebay or amazon I could see this being true. If you go by reasonable prices then the story is far different.
374  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [H]ard|OCP bitcoin mining GPU performance comparison on: July 14, 2011, 02:17:13 AM
If anyone wants to get their feet "wet" go buy a used 5770. Hands down, nothing comes close for the mh/s per dollar. It's easily 2-2.5mh/s per dollar. (Used ones go from $60 to 80, 90 for new and you can get 200mh/s out of them super easily.)

I'm not certain where they got their prices from, I hardly doubt the 6990x2 is the best performance for your dollar. They also didn't mention 5830/50's.
375  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What about 4x Oc'd 5970 Setup? on: July 10, 2011, 05:59:53 PM
The thing is if I could buy 5870 for the price I paid 2 weeks ago I would go for them, but currently they sell for £200 which is too much.

what's the price difference over there between 5970 and 6990? I kind regret not getting 2x 6990 for $200 more.  It seems you can easily get 400mhash per gpu with 6990 stable, but with 5970 i am only able to get 325mhash OCed to 800mhz. 850mhz gets you 350mhash, you need 900mhz (which is very difficult) to get 400mhash.  Also 6990 will resell much better down the road to gamers vs 5970.

You need to look at this as a dollar per mh/s. For those 200 dollars that you could have spent on getting the 6990, you can pick up a 5870 and get another solid easy 350 mh/s. This more than makes up for what the 6990's could get.
376  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: dual 5850 causing nearly 100% cpu use?!?!? on: July 07, 2011, 12:46:52 AM
I'm too lazy to dig up the thread, but this is apparently a driver bug. Just keep the affinity to 1 core. There is a work around here somewhere for it....
377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU 450 Mhash/s , HEAT problem! , Specs in thread. on: July 06, 2011, 10:42:48 AM
You need to turn fan speed to 90% at least. You need some chassis fans. A fan on the side cover of your pc. Or just leave a box fan next to it.
378  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2700 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 05, 2011, 10:04:08 AM
I'm really liking btcguild but man.... all these times I keep having to change servers is getting old. I know it's not your fault. Good luck on getting it all fixed and set up!
379  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Monitor multiple pools - www.btc-poolwatch.com on: July 04, 2011, 10:47:28 PM
This looks nice! Works well so far too. I haven't found any problems.
380  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Another Sapphire 5850 fan failure :( How long to RMA? on: July 04, 2011, 10:38:27 PM
I was runnning the fans at about 60 - 70 % and these cards run 24x7.
3 weeks completely sucks! I submitted my RMA online 2 days ago and I havent heard anything yet, Im hoping its due to the holiday weekend.

To althon micro? Yea, they work california business hours. Their emails where ususally same day with me. I just make to reply INSTANTLY after they send me one.
