Normally the poll option with the least votes gets it right.

I'm hoping that's how it works for this poll, above $21k.

Quote
Where is the bottom?

...

$21,001-$22,000    1 (3.1%)

That was me... and apparently I was wroooooooong! (again)
62  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2022, 03:13:59 PM
Who sold at the bottom?

My buy order triggered at $26.9 does that count? I'm not sure I understand this word you use... sold??? Wassat?
With my orders triggering at $27.9 and $26.9 I have now brought my cost average down to $30.5 so I just keep telling myself to be happy about down. Very odd kind of "happy" it is...

And it was a mighty fine year! (What I remember of it anyway)

When are we ever gonna learn, as a society in general, that peeps are good if you just leave them the fuck alone! Maybe a good first step would be to stop putting the narcissistic psychopath nose pickers in charge so that they can project their restrictions on the rest of us... maybe?

[drunken ramblings ended for tonight]

I have pondered on this thought for a while and have come to the conclusion that the personality traits required to put oneself in a position of power are the same traits that seek to control everyone else.
i.e. It takes a narcissist to get in a position of power and once there they further that position by enforcing narcissistic laws.
I am not sure if or how that will ever change ?

You're probably right..  the best leaders are the ones who have no interest in taking the job.

The next activity period begins at 2022-06-01T07:53:20Z, only a few hours hence.  If you want to know how to calculate it, I’d be happy to help.  If I make one post after that, then I will be a Jr. Member!  Then, all of my images will retroactively show up in my own posts.

BTW I haven't a clue what you're even referring to here, but I'm intrigued if you're willing to elaborate.

I dunno I tried editing the gif in my quote, but all looks correct.
It displays as a link that works in your original post, but I don't think the bbs likes it for whatever reason when it tries to display the actual image.

Thanks for helping out the struggling Newbie!  You show the Bitcoin community spirit which has always made Bitcoin strong.

That’s no empty platitude:  Bitcoin won the Fork Wars because of people who cared.  In my altcoin experience, I have seen up close what happens when almost everyone is driven only by raw greed, and the few exceptions are negligible voices shouting in the wilderness.  Ironically, the hard core of Bitcoiners who care give the strength and stability that makes Bitcoin such a good long-term investment.  Please stick around:  Bitcoin won the Fork Wars, but it needs people like you to stand up for it in against the next round of political, social, and economic attacks.

You did the image just fine.  The continued breakage was my fault.

Since I’m a Newbie, I had entirely forgotten that the Bitcoin Forum’s privacy-protecting image proxy has a 2MB limit.  (I can never remember whether that’s 2,000,000 bytes, or 2,097,152 bytes; a little Newbie help, please?)

This one was just a little bit over that.  I recompressed it, and uploaded it to Imgur.  New image URL.

Animated images are usually frowned upon by the forum, but not strictly forbidden.  This one is classy.  It hereby artistically represents recursion, an important concept in computer science.  I almost never post animations here; it’s not a habit.  And anyway, I’ve seen suchmoon throw down a boatload of crass, exceptionally annoying animated GIFs in one post when it suited her fancy.  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

The next activity period begins at 2022-06-01T07:53:20Z, only a few hours hence.  If you want to know how to calculate it, I’d be happy to help.  If I make one post after that, then I will be a Jr. Member!  Then, all of my images will retroactively show up in my own posts.

I had considered keeping this as a Newbie account, with no more posts.  A Newbie account with 81 merits!  That’s something special.  Well, too late now—unless I either delete something, which I won’t, or stop posting before the activity rollover.  Anyway, I do want for my first post’s image to show up as a warning to others that they should AVOID MARGIN.

It is a sacred mission, to save precious bitcoins from the cruel claws of liquidator bots—and to stop Bitcoin sinners from getting rekt by their own hands.

I dunno man, tried the new imgur link and still no likey the cool clock in a clock in a clock in a clock gif. Sucks, cuz it really is a kinda nifty gif. Kinda like the dogfood can label in the old movie/animation "Waterbabies" with a picture of a dog holding up a can of dogfood with a picture of a dog holding up a can of dogfood with picture of a dog .. ahh fuckit you get the point.

In the section you posted that I bolded , you touched on a point that I have been pondering a good bit lately. The fact that a great majority of the governance problems we have in the world are based on the simple but often ignored fact that a majority of peeps are really "good" in nature. Laws are passed and restrictions put in place to try to "fix" the problems caused by the small percentage of narcissistic psychopaths that totally ignore the inconvenience of laws anyway!
I mean, really, if you just tell the world, from a young age throughout their lives, that it's really not good to pick your nose... in general  the majority of peeps are gonna make a sincere effort to avoid picking their nose. (or at least do ot when nobody is around to catch them)
The ones that don't, the ones that are not affected by laws, legislation, and social norms are gonna end up generally frowned on and shunned by society (because who the hell wants to be associated with a nose picker) so that their numbers are limited due to the simple fact that it's not a good strategy for advancing oneself in social environs.
BUT!!! If you make a law with punitive enforcement measures and place closed caption cameras everywhere to catch and punish all the nose pickers everywhere... you just end up with a lot of people being restricted and punished while the small percentage who don't give a fuck are still picking their noses and now eating the proceeds to boot!!! Because if everyone is a criminal then Noone is a criminal. (The antithesis of "If everyone is a super-hero, then there are no super'heros")

Bitcoin is onto this concept in it's raw, unrestricted form. Good bad or indifferent it gives everyone control of their own destiny. Granted if you're a fuckup that uses leverage to greedily grab more than you can afford, you'll likely be slapped down. (Don't know any of those types, do we) And likewise if you're a dumbass that can't take simple measures to store your coins safely in an off-line wallet, remember your key without posting it on a 10' x 25' billboard on the interstate... things might not go well for you. But if you're part of the great majority that generally avoids picking their nose... life can be pretty good!

When are we ever gonna learn, as a society in general, that peeps are good if you just leave them the fuck alone! Maybe a good first step would be to stop putting the narcissistic psychopath nose pickers in charge so that they can project their restrictions on the rest of us... maybe?

what's your opinion on your fellow mouthy cunt nullius? Is he the greatest genius ever or what?

May I ask what is the basement of your allegation?

Which part of it you call an allegation? "mouthy cunt"? It's a diminutive for "narcissistic fuckface".

I posit that "narcissistic fuckface" may ACTUALLY be a diminutive for "mouthy cunt"... just sayin'...

P.S., thanks for the quote.  Would you be so kind as to fix the image that I messed up?  It is difficult, posting when I can’t see my own images.  (URL that should be in the img tag.)  Edit:  Next activity period begins 2022-06-01T07:53:20Z, so...

Kinda hard to make sense of things on a 5" phablet screen, so maybe I'm just a fucktard... but I see nothing wrong with the format.

I didn’t know that this forum is such a welcoming, inclusive space.  Perhaps I should stay in some form.

Eh.  I guess I should address this once:

Nor should I continue much further with a throwaway account that is accidentally picking up way too much merit for high-quality, substantive posts.  LOL.  Whoops.  Surely, I have much to whine about. Cheesy

Speaking of useless throwaway newbie accounts that pretend to know everything about everyone, what's your opinion on your fellow mouthy cunt nullius? Is he the greatest genius ever or what?

hahahaha

You are quite the investigator, suchmoon...

#justsaying

Kind of like Colombo.

I was serious about restricting suchmoon to only one chance to troll me:

This sort of ironically reminds me of when Quickseller, TECSHARE, and others accused nullius of being a Lauda alt.  Back then, QS was sure that nullius couldn’t be new.  I think that he obviously wasn’t Lauda, so who was nullius?  What is his (allegedly, my) real “main account”?

It also makes me chuckle over the time when nullius was accused of being Satoshi—or the numerous times when suchmoon has been “outed” as an alt of all sorts of different characters.  Almost every prominent forum member accumulates a collection of such allegations.  If I got one so early, perhaps I am destined for glory!

Perennially popular as such speculation is on this forum, answering it as a serious allegation is counterproductive, if there are no valid grounds for one to be called to answer.  This old cypherpunk forum was founded by “Satoshi Nakamoto”.  Its administration explicitly allows, and even sometimes encourages the use of multiple accounts—as long as alter-egos aren’t abused for sockpuppet brigades, or otherwise for fraudulent purposes.  Privacy and pseudonymity are touchstones of the culture here.  I have done nothing fraudulent or abusive, so it is nobody’s business what other identities I may or may not have.  Maybe I’m nullius, maybe I’m notwe are all nullius—in the manner of the now-popular aphorism, “We are all Satoshi.”

(I am a long-term holder of some altcoins, and sometimes a short-term speculator in others.  I figure PnL in BTC, and my long-term net capital flow has been from alts to BTC—so don’t complain about that; and no, I never had a problem before I tried margin!  But I am a Bitcoiner first and foremost; and I am even a Cøbra fan, even though I’m none too sure what Cøbra would say of me and my altcoins.  Anyway, I enjoy coding for smart-contract chains.  It’s fun, and sometimes profitable.  I believe strongly in the need for a decentralized, permissionless, price-stable currency as a complement to Bitcoin.  Does all of this sound like nullius?  Who knows, maybe nullius is a closet altcoiner! Shocked)

Such musing aside, I must remind the peanut gallery that I have done nothing wrong, and I haven’t even been accused of doing anything wrong.  suchmoon is going off on me like Don Quixote trying to slay a windmill, because—why!?  It’s not about me.  About her, it is revealing.

Her bizarre, hateful fixation on a new account that’s done nothing wrong draws me to reflect on the time when suchmoon recently went off the deep end of paranoid-schizophrenic tier conspiratard delusions (archive).  Whether one likes him or not, 4-digit marcus_of_augustus has been a fixture on this forum since 2011.  He has always expressed the same types of opinions—agree or disagree, those are his opinions.  So, his opinions have now magically morphed him into a Russian agent—because anyone, anywhere with an unpopular opinion about Russia is ipso facto on the Russian payroll!  OK, whatever.  Beware, beware, Russian agents are everywhere.

A better theory:  Vladimir Putin personally inserted a microchip into my brain, which made me trade on margin.  This caused me to lose my BTC, so that Russia could buy it cheap from the liquidator bot.  I blame Russia.  It also caused me to register a Bitcoin Forum account, to hurt suchmoon.  I don’t know why my presence has hurt her; my posts had nothing to do with her, before she popped up out of nowhere with vicious personal attacks on me.  But it is definitely an attack on suchmoon.  It must be.  A Russian attack.  They are out to get you!

Her behavior doesn’t speak well of her mental state, especially given that her obsession with me was near-instantaneous.  Two days after I registered my account, when I had said nothing to offend her (and hadn’t even interacted with her at all!), suchmoon saw fit to insult me gratuitously on my trust page:

suchmoon2022-05-12Pompous mouthy not-a-newbie.

Oh, noes!  I just used nullius-style formatting to quote trust feedback.  Did I just accidentally prove my secret identity as nullius, or am I a sophisticated cypherpunk mimicking others’ styles to throw you off my trail?  I do frequently switch British/American English, punctuation patterns, and so forth.  I’ll just let that play with your head.  Muahahaha!

But shocking though her rude antics are, it is unsurprising to see her go off in a public meltdown over nothing.

suchmoon is the type of mean little soul that feeds off attention.  She thrives off stirring drama, ruining reputations, and manipulating people to do what she wants.  And it’s a pitiable shame for this forum that one with such manifestly unprofessional, ugly behaviour could ever attain a position of community prominence.  Frankly, she comports herself as gutter-trash.  Her snipe about a “mouthy cunt” is reminiscent of the shitcoiner who recently called me a “Bitcoin maxi cunt”.

suchmoon’s only power is the power that you give her.  Accordingly, she has been struggling obsessively to get a rise out of me:  To troll me, to bait me into a flamewar, to drag me down to her level of uncouth, uncivil discourse.  I have better things to do with my time, because I have a life; and to avoid being dragged down into the mud, I must hereby mind the adage about wrestling with a pig.

Ignore suchmoon, and the forum is cleaner.

Having so said, it may now be wise to desist from getting trolled by such of suchmoon’s potty-mouth flamebait as others may quote.

Yea, yea, yea... still an Asshole that made me buy cheap Sats!

BTW still got a buy order in at $27.8... think maybe you could somehow piss off the Bitcoin gods again or some shit? Tired of sitting on the fiat...

P.S. - sorry, y'all, that I crashed the market by making Bitcoin angry.

Bitcoin, please forgive me.

Made me buy more cheap Sats![/>]

If my wit were beloved by the type of granola-munching cope-expert who does online “wellness checks”—with twit-style hashtags, no less!—then I would declare my whole life an irredeemable failure.  (Are you vegan, by any chance?  Did you vote for Biden?  Well, it would make as much sense as your theory that the CCP controls “all major media outlets”.)

On the other hand, perhaps I shouldn’t be so hard on you.  You are new at this:  You have only been in Bitcoin since 2020–2021, according to your first post.  Perhaps by now, you may even have even learned to stop camelcasing “BitCoin”—it’s what Mike Hearn used to do, it’s what Craig Wright does now, and it’s offensive to Bitcoin.  Lest thou bring down hellfire and red candlesticks on us all, thou shalt not anger divine Bitcoin by so blaspheming its sacred name!

“Max pain”:  Get used to it, and live up to your name by coping with your newbie-tier DCA before you accuse me of “whining”.  Roll Eyes

OK, now I'm getting scared.
For the first time in many many months price goes below my DCA and the local Llama spots out this???
Is this what they were talking about as "Max Pain?"
I'm gonna cry...

Why?  What pain is in it for you?

If your coins are safely in your wallet where they belong, why do you even care if BTC at rest dips below your DCA during the type of perfect storm of a flock of black swans that we have seen in the past month?  You only started buying BTC quite recently—and you apparently started buying in 2021, a bull year!  Your DCA is inevitably way too high to worry about dipping below it, unless you like gambling about being lucky enough to time a local bottom with a first-time chunk buy.

If you use Bitcoin as money, as well you should, then that may be a potential reason for some pain:  The BTC is in motion, not at rest, and its value right now does affect you.  Solution:  Develop a strategy for budgeting and scheduling your money-flow around Bitcoin volatility.  It is not always feasible.  It is especially infeasible for many types of business, which is one reason why we do need some type of a stablecoin; anyone who contradicts that is a navel-gazing ignoramus with no inkling of business realities.  But with prudence and foresight, it can often be done just fine for personal finances.  (I will not speak further of this now:  I code, and I don’t want to spill the beans on potential future products.)

So as for “pain”.

You should only get scared if you have been through at least one order-of-magnitude BTC increase, and then it crashes below your DCA—oh, that would be scary!

You should only* cry if 1 BTC ≠ 1 BTC.  That would mean either that the laws of mathematics have been repealed—or that the Bitcoin blockchain has been usurped by Do Kwon, who just made 1 LUNA ≠ 1 LUNA by centralized executive fiat.

* Or, you should cry if you play stupid games with margin, and you thus lose BTC that had a DCA so low, it will never again come anywhere within even a zillion light years of that unless Bitcoin is really, truly dead.

I have been crying a lot, lately.  It is inevitable that I must suffer many weeping fits, and probably years of recurring nightmares.  Divine Bitcoin has damned me to this, as condign punishment for my sins.

FYI, in July 2021, I didn’t even know when it dipped below $30k; and if I had been paying attention to the market, I would have been laughing at all the n00bs who were crying.  Then, I was righteous and blessed in the sight of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin, please forgive me.

Garsh... I think he likes me!!!

Looka all the time he spent reading through all my past drunken ramblings...

And to be so right and yet so wrong in so many aspects... it's almost like it's intentional, no? Kinda like creating a new account just so there's no personal responsibility to blemish a long standing persona here in the community. So Wright but yet so wrong... intriguing really.

Yet another school shooting in USA. WTF America. Get your shit together.

If you changed your gun laws this shit would stop.

Or better yet you can change "right to bear arms" to "right to arm bears" and that would make the world a much more interesting place

I don't live in the USA so my opinion is not relevant to citizens and voters. If I could vote over there I would probably mostly lean republican but the gun stuff I do think should be tackled regardless.
I can see the right to bear arms as a touchy subject and outright banning will never work and I wouldn't quite agree with.

Regardless, many of these mass shooters recently are in the 18-25 age range.
Not sure the initial stuff we've heard about this loser is true but apparently he bought the semi automatics on his 18th birthday.

They should ban buying guns (and also ban voting!) for anyone younger than 25. In concession the dems should agree on required voter ID.

What they've done in Scotland allowing voting for 16 and 17 year olds is also sick in the head if you ask me.
I'd like to see the age of voting increased in the west. Sure, I also thought I knew everything at 18-19 but I clearly didn't.

Remember that the "news" is generally filled with sensationalism and clickbait generated by a faction of elitists with a clear agenda. There are thousands and thousands of untold stories of lives saved for every tragic event promoted by the MSM.

A key element often misunderstood by those not deeply acquainted with the nuance of 2nd amendment rights:
Laws only restrict those who abide by the law. In every instance, mass shooters are breaking the law. (Murder is in fact a Federal crime) The least of which being that in most cases their weapons are either illegally obtained or modified. Gun laws don't inhibit lawless monsters, they only restrict law abiding citizens in what they can do to protect themselves. But in all cases, a mass shooter is stopped instantly when they come to a good guy with a gun. There's a reason why a great majority of these events occur in "gun-free zones". Lunatics on a murder rampage, looking for their 15 minutes of fame, really don't want to take a chance on having a gun pointed at them before they get started good.

The truth bomb:

So let me get this straight. It takes between 21 to 35 days for a Russian oil tanker to get to US ports to be offloaded.
It takes between 35 and 60 days for a tanker from the Middle East to make the same trek.
It takes about 10 hours to load the tanker and up to 24 hours to unload. If it has to wait in port to get to an unloading dock, it can take up to 3 days.
The average tanker burns 2,625 gallons of diesel fuel per hour. 22.38 pounds of CO2 are created from burning 1 gallon of diesel fuel.
So, in one hour, a  tanker ship hauling oil to a refinery in the US creates 58,757.5 pounds of CO2 per hour. Averaging the travel time of the tankers, that's 27.67 million tons of CO2 per trip.
In comparison, your car creates between 6 and 9 tons per year.
Without going into all the equations of how many tankers come to the US per year, let alone our exports, will someone please explain to me how drilling our own oil and moving it through pipelines, along with importing oil from Canada via pipeline will not be more environmentally "green" for the world.
Please explain to me why buying oil from another country is good for the environment??
Or better yet how buying oil from another country is better than pumping our own oil??
There’s nothing green about this other than these elites are lining their pockets with green.

On day one of his administration, Biden shut down the Keystone XL Pipline in the US that was transferring oil from Canada to the refineries,  and on the very same day, lifted the sanctions against Russia's Nordstream II Pilipeline that were put in place to prevent them from being able to attack Ukraine.

I have tried... I have given it a lot of thought... and I can't think of a single thing I would do, if I were an evil villain aiming to destroy the western economy, that has jot already been done better by the Biden administration. This CANNOT be simple dementia riddled incompetence... this is a well crafted, genius plan to destroy us.

you don't make any sense, sorry.
Biden got ruskies under 1000X more sanctions than puny sanctions-lite on Nordstream II.
Also, how the sanction on one pipe were preventing them from attacking Ukraine?
That does not compute at all and these two things have nothing to do with each other.

By lifting the sanctions, Biden allowed Nordstream II to be completed just before the troops moved into Ukraine. Sanctions after the fact? Who gives a fuck? As soon as the mission is complete, the oil flows freely.

It is NOT even the oil pipeline, dude, but a gas one and it is SHUT down, kaput.
So what that it was completed? Nobody ever used it.

You argue semantics and ignore the overall point? Really?
So if the pipeline in Ukraine is damaged and must be shut down due to the Russain seige, Nordstream is now compled and only waiting for regulatory approval to be fully operational. And you honestly believe that if the UK is cut off from Russian gas that regulatory hurdle will not instantly vanish?

Point is, the Biden administration gave the greenlight for Russia to invade. Then used the event to return NATO to a position of relevancy they haven't had for decades! And outside of that, the question remains... why is Nordstream given the OK at the same time that Keystone and American oil production shut down? Trumps fault? Nazis & White Supremacy? Or is it in the interest if LGBTQ+ to pay $7.29 per gallon??? There are far too many lies being used to divide us and calm rational thought is needed if we're to see a way through this... try steel man instead of straw man even if only with yourself. It's important to see the cold rationale behind all this nonsense!

Prior to Nordstream II there was only one pipeline from Russia into the UK, and it ran directly through Ukraine. If Russia attacked UKraine before Nordstream II was at least 99% complete, all it would take is one explosion in UKraine to cripple the Russian economy.
By lifting the sanctions, Biden allowed Nordstream II to be completed just before the troops moved into Ukraine. Sanctions after the fact? Who gives a fuck? As soon as the mission is complete, the oil flows freely.

If it's beneficial (by any convoluted means) to shut down Keystone & cancel all oil drilling leases on federal land, how is it simultaneously beneficial to give Russia the green light on Nordstream?
And that can be reversed as well... if Nordstream is beneficial, how is it simultaneously beneficial to shut down the US status as the world's biggest exporter of oil & natural gas?

I have tried... I have given it a lot of thought... and I can't think of a single thing I would do, if I were an evil villain aiming to destroy the western economy, that has jot already been done better by the Biden administration. This CANNOT be simple dementia riddled incompetence... this is a well crafted, genius plan to destroy us.

I am quite interested to know what is happening in Ukraine.....

......has anyone seen any credible reporting on it?  I mean to actually get an understanding of the whole picture?

..... how many Ukrainian soldiers have died, how many have been captured? how many of their tanks, aircrafts, fighting vehicles and trucks have been destroyed ?

....... I currently feel like I am hearing football commentary, whereby they are only telling you when one side has scored a goal and not the other.

Like I said I am interested in knowing what is actually going on in Ukraine, and, from reading the MSM, I currently have no clue....because, I only have half the picture (and I do not know how credible that half is either)

Would be great to have CREDIBLE reporting on the whole picture...... shame there isn't any.

Fog of war.... its so.........foggy.

He's not perfect, and I think he's taking a 1 week break right now. But this guy writes some good articles with what seems to be a sincere attempt at objective factual coverage.

Does it bother you how well it worked on the Ruskies?  It does me...  Something stinks about all this... it really does.  How many people are lying to us?  At this point I think it might be all of them, the bastards.

It does get tougher every day to figure out what the fucking truth of the matter is, it seems everything is being spun constantly.

*This is how civilization spirals down the tube.

It was all  created on purpose, and Ole Uncle Joe is so incompetent, it becomes obvious to anyone paying attention.

Keystone Pipeline was shuttered on the same day the sanctions blocking Nordstream Pipeline were canceled. NATO/US globalists created this scenario to rekindle legitimacy for the outdated NATO alliance while simultaneously creating cover for all participants to continue printing money and devaluing currencies worldwide. Now unchecked emergency powers are being granted to WHO while Finland & Sweden jab another thumb in Russia's eye by joining the revitalized NATO.

If you look at the last 2 year's events/decisions and tried to come up with a better plan to destroy the world's economy and killa couple Billions of people, I doubt you likely couldn't come up with anything more effective. Gotta destroy it all before you can "Build Back Better..."

One reason I'm a fan of Elon regardless of his shilling for shitcoins, and shenanigans in general, is that his goal is to reach Mars.

Why tho? Dead planet. Nothing there but rock and more rock.

If we are in fact slowly circling the drain getting incrementally closer to the sun with each orbit, then Mars would be the next eligible rock within that sweet zone of close enough but not too close. So by the time we figure out how to get beyond that whole light years vs. limited fuel weight issue... it should be about right to support us and maintain an atmosphere.

Mars has no protective magnetic field like earth, the solar wind stripped away most of its atmosphere and continues to do so.
We got quite good living space here for another few billion years if we clean up and look after it.

Meanwhile Bitcoin putting up a solid performance during last weeks shit(coin) show.
$29k at midway between halvenings is not bad, not bad at all.

Yup! I think we're pretty much in agreement here!
