201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 26, 2021, 01:33:17 AM
All joking aside, I have been giving considerable thought to how I am going to handle this bull run of my first cycle.
As many of you know, I didn't actually get onboard until late June of this year. I have since been consistently buying every week from my DCA amount. And in the midst I have done a little dabbling (J1G would call it gambling) with various "shitcoins" to take advantage of short term gains to be invested into BTC. I have consistently accumulated approximately 30% more BTC than the market price I invested, and at this point am at a bit over 100% profit. But, realistically, it's nothing. So I'm leaning heavily towards an attempt to DCA out to the top and then buy back after the crash with my profits. First sale at $98k would be the smallest and last sale at $249k the biggest leaving me with a little less than 10% of my current bag but nearly 100x in profits. If all works perfectly and we see 60% dip after a $250k top, I would be a whole coiner by my 1 yr BTC anniversary date. Even if it tops at any point below $249k but above $100k I would still be well on my way to whole coin status by end of year 2022. Only way I lose is A) it shoots up significantly higher than $300k and never drops back below $200k OR if it ends up in a super-cycle that never comes back. Either way, I'm still up significantly in Fiat, but will be back to ground zero in BTC accumulation. But considering I've only got 6 mos. of weekly DCA's invested, I just don't see the downside as being anywhere near the potential or even likely upside. Regardless of the outcome, I still continue my weekly DCA for the next 10 years, but if my bet pays off, I continue as a whole coiner. If it doesn't I just continue as a low coiner.

Open to thoughts and criticism, but can't honestly say I'll change my course based on it.

-Cope

Hey still looking for my 10k greenie

I don't want to be limited in predicting to the starting and ending times of a daily candle, but I would consider that a 24-hour period could produce a $10k candle relatively soontm.. maybe even within this here deadman's zone.. of let's say anywhere between $64.4k and $79.8k, we could have a $10k price appreciation within 24 hours within that price range.. seems very plausible to me... maybe having greater than 28% (which is NOT ant-sized) odds?....SOMAtm.. and getting a less than 24 hour $10k candle before reaching $100k has closer to supra 38% odds...

You Go Mr. Ferdinand!

You going to take the over or the under?

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

 Wink Wink

All of my BTC if you win, all of yours if I win... and you got yourself a bet!

Edit: Timeline matters,, if in Oct, definitely under, if by end of year, Over... just to answer the question.

(Can't blame a guy for trying right?)

I'd be truly surprised if anything became of it. China is too vested in the U.S. to sink their interests, and the rest of the worlds'. That type of war isn't really being fought anymore, we've moved on to other ways, with combat performed by contractors in 3rd world proxys.

I'm glad to see there are folks who have faith in the restraint of China's global ambitions... personally, I'm afraid Ji will launch an attack the moment his citizenry starts to get restless and unruly due to the collapsing economy. And as for Ole Joe following through with his tough talk, yea... don't hold your breath.

Note that they never do it with a high-dollar condenser, usually your basic dynamic mic. But still....

I would probably murder the bastard that dropped my rhodium plated U87.

Absolutely serious.

Nobody would really handhold such an exclusive Neumann. If so, he almost deserves death without even dropping it.  Wink
While Electro-voice's look like they were built for dropping on a regular basis Cool
(I once owned an EV-PL10 that died, used it on stage a lot for micing my snare drum, this one could take some good hits and also some spilled beer).

The neodymium EVs have a spring metal head basket... I thing I don't know why ALL mic makers do not so.  I could bounce it off a concrete floor, and the only damage it would take is it might lose some of the black color where it hit...  Sharpie will fix it! This is most certainly not a rhodium plated 87...  but it's a great talkback mic. Wink  (actually it's very interesting for lots of things. magic on a bass amp...)

The texture of the springs would affect the sound quality of a precision mic. These are more utilitarian and therefore do not have to be as precise in reproduction of enharmonics and timber.
As a road mic, yeah it'll do, but for studio sound you need a bit more responsive and precise technology. (This Means Fragile!)

Firework on Binance US.

Wow... I had not realized this until I saw your post, Paashaas.

A bit strange for me, because of the way that I have been changing around my buy orders in recent times... Actually historically, some members here might remember that last year I had buy orders down to about $9k, but in recent times, I had considered ONLY maintaining buy orders down to the 208-week moving average, which is nearly $17k, but even based on my own moving around of values and even spending some my value, I have only kept buy orders down to $24k and on that particular exchange, I had only maintained buy orders down to $42k  (which started at $60k) - so all of my buy orders on that exchange (about 17 of them were filled between $42k and $60k).. cannot really complain... except such surprise filling of all of those orders did cause me to have to reset a number of orders and to consider how I was going to treat this whole matter in order to attempt to get my systems rebalanced... and yeah did mess me up in terms of further overallocating into BTC by filling those extra orders.. but who is going to complain about a discount - when considering spot price, right?

Ooohhhh! You Poor Thing!!!
You Got 42K corn that screwed up all you bot figurations?

Pretty sure that will be deemed Ex Post Facto and deemed Unconstitutional if it even makes it to the final bill.
You can't have punitive tax policy put into effect after the decision has already been made. The result would be far too destabilizing and I think it will be nullified in the courts.

Sadly we now live in a post-rational world.

Well... you're not wrong... sadly.

Not sure what the tax code is going to look like next year - with talk of increasing long term capital gains - so I'm trying to hedge a bit more fiat short term, just incase.

suggest you do some searches on the proposed tax changes...  the current bill makes the tax change retroactive to Sept 13th of this year... So if you are trying to beat the changes, it may already been to late...

.... mainstream media is just the biggest piece of shite, in fact it is positively toxic to the well- being of individuals and society

... how wrong have they been about bitcoin? And duplicitously wrong too. Deceptive, conniving, secret agendas, lying, foolish, lazy, all the worst traits of humanity in one little package of shite

But if you think about it in retrospect, it all makes sense. The decade long smear campaign against Bitcoin was all by design.

How many new millionaires would have been minted worldwide by now, had the MSM and financial elite promoted and evangelized Bitcoin since $1/btc? Or $0.10/btc?

Far, far too many. If everyone quits working because they are newly rich, guess how many debt slaves they have left to pay taxes, mortgages, and loans? Nada. The world's economies would crumble overnight.

They couldn't have that. Only a handful of wealthy elites get millions of shares of Amazon or Facebook at $0.001c/share pre-IPO. Not millions of Average Joes. That's not how it works.

Noone is a Super Hero.

Common core math..

I think it’s rediculous how they try to teach solving math like that in the first place, but when I look at common core teachings it is like the processes I use to do math in my head..

132X50?

(132/2)100=66x100=6600 <in my head

Does that make sense?

YES!

So a little background, in Kindergarten (5 yrs old) I was diagnosed as LD and my parents were told I'd likely never really succeed in school. But then in 1st grade my teacher recognized that I was dyslexic and systematic but with very low retention outside of the systems. She really struck a chord with me as I remember her telling my parents "They've diagnosed him with a learning disability & that is absolutely incorrect! They've got the right abbreviations but the wrong words. He has a learning Difference bit certainly no disability!"
So I was taught to view everything forward, backwards, and upside down all at once to determine which orientation logically fits. So when I was taught "multiplication tables" I quickly realized I can't memorize shit! BUT if multiplication is just a shortcut for adding, it's no problem! 1 times anything is itself, 2 times anything is just doubled, decimal points are completely movable within a calculation as long as you move it back when you're done,  so 5 times anything is just half with a decimal shift, and 10 times anything is just a decimal shift. From there it's just simple addition. 6x7 is just half of 7 plus 7, so 35 + 7 = 42. And since subtraction is just addituon undone, 4 x 12 is 60 - 12 = 48 Then there's division which is multiplication undone, so the cubed root of 27 is 3. Memorization is nothing but a temporal cheat sheet of the answers, you don't truly understand until you know the system by which to derive those answers.

Looks like Gold prices are finally starting to feel the upward push of inflationary policy. I think our BTC rise so far this month has been more of a self fulfilling prophecy situation. Price going up because everyone is expecting it to go up Oct. through Dec. But now Gold is showing the natural effects of money printer go brrr and we'll start to see BTC accelerate in its uppity climb.

Oh?  I did not know that bitcoin's investment thesis was a self-fulfilling prophecy..   wow.,. and I did not know that bitcoin was going up merely because more and more people believe.. I thought that there was more there there.

Self-fulfilling prophecy seems to be a pretty damned superficial reason to be into bitcoin.

Whatever, you can believe what you want in regards to why you are into bitcoin, what makes price go uppity (or otherwise) and what kinds of dynamics underly bitcoin's investment thesis.

Oh Come On Now J1G! Nobody can deny that a certain percentage of any investment asset is based on psychology & speculation!

Not even implying that it's the only factor moving the price, in fact I explicitly said otherwise in the quote above, but if the general consensus amongst all the "experts" is that it's a 4 year cycle based on halvings and that the price will rise in the 4th quarter, you'd  almost have to assume a goodly number of peeps will act on that knowledge. And if more people are willing and even eager to buy at higher prices, of course the value will go up. That's exactly how value is determined in any market.

So general consensus this year has been that we'd see a spike in price in the 4th quarter, therefore, even if the underlying reason for said spike had not yet come to fruition, you could reasonably expect at least some rise purely based on the speculation. Therefore, self fulfilling prophecy. Then when the fundamentals catch up, that rise accelerates. And when it really gets fired up FOMO kicks in and you generally get a blow off top. You disagree?
