Crypto.com Hack Update.
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 17, 2022, 03:48:13 PM
Apparently Crypto.com is dealing with a pretty significant hack through their backend into accounts on the exchange and in the app. 2FA & Fingerprint security completely bypassed. Significant number of unauthorized withdrawals went through one after another. Everything is locked down now as they are trying to figure out what happened and restore accounts.

Any mining expert can disclose how many machines or how much it currently would cost to set up a mining arrangement that produces 126 Terahashes (TH) of mining power?

1 th earns .2296 usd  a day
10 th earns 2.296 usd a day
100 th earns 22.96 usd a day

126 th earns 28.93 usd a day

1000 th earns 229.60 usd a day
10000 th earns 2296.00 usd a day
100000 th earns 22960.00 usd a day
1000000th earns 229600.00 usd a day

1260000th earns  289,300.00 usd a day just about 1 block if rewards were .15 btc as 6.40 x 44000 = 281600

so he earned about 10,000 days worth of coin rather than 1

best machines to get exactly 126 th would be say 3 antminer t17 units or 2 whatsminer m20s units.

So basically it was hitting a 10000 to one shot.

Which means that it can be expected to happen every 10,000 blocks * 10 min/block = 100,000 minutes.

That is, once in 70 days - or 10 weeks.

Definitely not a once in a lifetime event, if Philip's numbers are correct.

Enough with the Math's & Sciences! What!?! You think you're a Llama now???

Not sure many potheads can really make an impact on studies posted on pubmed by the National Institute of Health... but yea, Otherwise I understand your skepticism.

I know it might seem a bit off topic right now...

But it looks like CB might be giving us some good news shortly.

First of all, I feel like I might have kicked off a little covid/vaccine skirmish with some of my comments.  I publicly apologize as I do try to avoid that talk here, but am not always successful as it is most definitely a factor in the worldwide economic landscape.

But at the same time I see people complaining about folks not using Bob's thread, and unfairness as to how people are asked to take things there.  To be honest I think where the whole thing falls apart is when we start calling each other names or treating people with disrespect because they disagree with our worldview.

I am personally offended by the "You don't agree with me/science/the church/government/qanon/etc therefore you are dumb" argument.

I would think if we could avoid that in here we would be better off...  Not meaning to be on a high horse.  I am guilty too.

That said... My job is hospital informatics.  I am taking a deep dive into some data I should probably not be analyzing, Heh. Although it is my exact work area, so I am allowed to look at this data. Kinda of a moral conundrum.  But it will not be the first time I have crunched some numbers around  the mess we are in.  But my curiosity gets the better of me.  Maybe if I come across anything interesting I will share it (a sanitized version perhaps) over in Bob's thread.

I for one have never been offended by any of your posts on any subject that I can recall Cap! I do agree that the facts and implications of the ongoing 2020 Pandemic are very much in line with the ongoing Global War over economics, decentralization and global power structures as are "Observed" and therefore discussed in this thread. It's heartbreaking to see the media forces, politicians, and globalist puppetmasters so successfully dividing people, including our fellow WO's with thus topic that should be a wake up to unite and work together to overcome this global foe. Unfortunately, I am afraid the "foe" is not the actual virus, but the power of fear and hate and those using that power against us.

First rule of debate, if you resort to attacking the debater rather than the debated, you are conceding to the weakness of your position. Anger and aggression are tactics used to hide fear. Fear that you are losing the debate. If we cannot calmly discuss the facts and debate rationally, the proper recourse is to step back and let the more capable debaters advance the conversation. To go on the attack is to announce that you are weak in your stance, and worse to demand powers that be should shut down the conversation (which is often the real goal of those showing weakness) is an abrogation of the key principles of freedom of speech. If you advocate limiting the rights of others, you quickly find the rights of all greatly diminished. For this reason I have never participated in or even read Bob's C19 thread. I think it is wrong in it's very principle and from what I've heard has been wrong on other levels as well. Rights checked are Rights lost.

Cap, I'd be very interested in any findings you may derive from crunching your privileged data. I think it a pivotal factor in what we are here to Observe. And I believe it would be a loss to us all to allow the divisive powers of our common enemies to relegate such key points to a substandard platform. Period.

Eek!

He just said EXACTLY what I see maybe coming.

1.  Interest rates go up.
2.  Markets digest this.
3.  Shit begins to hit the fan.
4.  Bitcoin gets hammered, going down with other risk assets.
5.  Here we go... end of the world as we know it.  People on the streets... crazy.
6.  Bitcoin goes CRAZY up.

*Sigh*.  I do not want this way...

"I have been at this for 47 years.  I have never been as concerned about the future as I am now.  Because when all else fails, they take you to war."

Gerald Celente has been an uber bear for ever, I don't find him credible.

I would be glad for you to be right, and him to be chicken little.

One thing still bugs me though.  I am NOT a doom and gloom bear.  In fact I am an optimist to a fault.  But I have always seen a little farther down the road than most people.  I would assume that is true of many here.  In my older age I am making a little money because of it, and keeping my family safer.

In DEC/JAN 19/20 I was telling a guy I work with that there was a pandemic on the way, but the scary thing would not be the disease (hopefully) as much as the second order effects.  I bet if I were not lazy I could find a post here from around that time saying basically that.  What I saw as the second order effects were things like financial system collapse... small businesses going away, and supply chain disruption.  That type of thing.

But recently I have been realizing that is just the tip of the iceberg.  I was also generically worried about war... but I did not exactly see how we get there.  Thing is now that's becoming a little more clear to me.

I will share just one little realization that has been haunting the f&*$ out of me over the weekend.

IF we continue to keep seeing footballers, and tennis players having heart attacks on TV, and more of us have friends taken out randomly by heart attacks and strokes eventually the genie will be all the way out of the bottle.  I think we are already there.  It's just a matter of how bad does it get.

People on one political side are calling for the Nuremberg code to be invoked.  Well if it turns out those people are right.  This event will cause THE BIGGEST setback for modern medicine in our lives for sure.  MRNA tech could be the delivery mechanism that leads to a cure for most cancers.

But it will be decades... many decades before people trust medicine, pharmaceuticals, the media and governments again.  And some people who are not fans of these things might say "Good let em burn". And in some ways I am one of them.  But the cost will be great.  Not only in the lives of people who were led to their own deaths by a machine chanting "trust the science" (a phrase that is a perfect distillation of the OPPOSITE of science).  But more will die waiting for that cure for cancer that may also be coming later because the the destroyed trust in out systems, and institutions.

Not to mention the inevitable war we will see...

I am probably a worse bear in this regard than Celente.

Interesting Times...

Here take my last.

I am always trying to attack my biases.  And right now I am biased towards us not entering a crypto winter, as I have recently posted.

BUT.  I think I have found a scenario that might tend to undo my optimism...

https://www.wsj.com/articles/fed-minutes-reflect-growing-unease-over-high-inflation-11641409628

Inflation has the us Federal Reserve talking seriously about quantitative tightening.  This means higher interest rates.  And I think that could mean a few things:

1.  The stock market is a goner if they do this.  The reason we continue to see crazy upwards stonks is in great part due to the fact that they keep printing money and lowering interest rates.  This could take some of the wind out of those sales.  And those prices are so bubblicious already that it's hard to imagine anything but a bloodbath.

2.  Bitcoin is currently seen (by most) as the king of risk investments still... so I would expect Bitcoin might follow the stock market.

In some ways it's hard to say what they might do because they have painted themselves into a corner.  Crashing the already limping enconomy in the name of stopping inflation?  Or keep printing and shift into negative interest rates causing absolute explosions in risk assets and making a can of beans cost $4.

Hmm...  I kind of wish I had not had this thought... I was preferring the bullish mania I was in before... Tongue

To add another dimension to your well fleshed out thoughts, Federal Debt!
Currently the US holds somewhere in the neighborhood of $30T of public debt. Interest to service that debt is already growing and was approximately $562B in 2021. Increasing the interest rates will draw down and likely even reverse GDP growth making the interest on Treasury Bonds skyrocket and therefore grow the interest on the debt exponentially. Therefore the only way I can see moving forward under the burden of this debt is to hyper inflate the US dollar to the point where the debt is a negligible Value, while keeping everyone convinced that everything is "just fine" so as to avoid a revolt from the lenders. (Bond Holders) Thus enters the concept of a North American CBDC to replace the US $ that is worth less than the paper it's printed on.
Interesting Times Ahead...

This will not be true.  Not exactly.  And I am NOT offering any financial advice.  Do not let my bullish ridiculousness influence your decisions.  You can influence your own.

But I think one possibility is for Bitcoin to basically continue what it started doing... But instead of a tantrum throwing toddler, a moody teenager.

Not learning to walk anymore... But what comes after walking?

So I'm watching as the price keeps bouncing off the $42.5k support level. When things are going the other way and repeatedly bouncing off a resistance level, it means to sell at that resistance expecting to buy lower because it's very likely to break through and leave you holding less.

Am I reading this wrong in thinking I should hold off a bit longer to buy a dippier dip? My DCA isn't due until tomorrow anyway, so kinda asking for support for resisting a reverse FOMO buy. (I have occasionally pulled the trigger on DCA buys a day early beat out a weekend pump) I'm just not used to Downs yet as I'm still a bit new at this.

Watching the Dr Malone / Rogan interview... pretty good so far.

(btw eff you bct post merging script, and thanks to cOPETECH)

I thought it was a very well done and informative podcast, I also liked JR's interview w/ Peter McCollough but I think Peter got a little bit off the rails w/ some of his assertions that should have been should have been toned back until empirical data supported them as fact. Dr. Malone was properly reserved to avoid weak assertions that could be used to debunk the entirety.

Happy new year everyone.
So I'm gonna break my my cardinal rule of never posting food pics just this once, only because this one made me laugh.
A Hassel-back russet potato I made for 1st time, with homemade mushy peas. Believe it or not, it was actually really delicious.
Presentation wise?  Well to me, (and most likely everyone else) it looks like a giant dog turd next to a pile of green nasty who knows what.
And that Sriracha squirt red blood spatter design doesn't really help.....prison food a la carte maybe?
Gordon Ramsay I'm not.....

 GO BITCOIN

I've seen a number of restaurants serving Poo-Poo Platters, but this may be the first Poo-Poo-Poo Platter...

Glad you enjoyed! Happy New Year & many Happy Returns!

In my opinion, the entire EV industry is intentionally neglecting the easy answer to instant mass adoption in order to maintain a disposable market.
Imagine, universal externally hot swappable batteries. Gas stations would be able to keep a set inventory of batteries and a reconditioning/recharging process. End users would drive into a station and pull a lever to eject their dead batteries like a cassette tape and insert the new fully charged batteries. The station would charge based on the number of joules remaining verses the number of joules added. Then the end user is back on the road in minutes very similar to the current model of stopping to fill a tank. Add to it the ability to charge at home and this creates a system far superior to the current petro system and mass adoption would be a no brainer.
PersonallyIdrive 60k miles per year (average) for work. My territory of customers covers a large area and it's pretty common for me to stop and fill the tank 2 times and sometimes even 3 in a day. It would make absolutely no sense for me to make the change to an EV with a 300 mile limit between charges, especially since I frequently end up in a hotel overnight to get up and drive again the next day. An hour or more at a gas station to charge is just out of the question as it cuts into valuable response time. But if I could pull in, swap batteries, and be back on the road in 15 minutes or less, this could be a tremendous incentive to switch to EV.
But instead, the manufacturers are banking on the fact that batteries will wear out every 3-5 years and most people will dispose of the car and get another rather than pay the cost of replacing an expensive proprietary battery. A rotating door of repeat sales to a minority as opposed to a mass adoption of the majority. But with subsidies and media blasts who can really blame them.

So Yes, "Purple Blazes" are generally accepted as symbolizing "Private Property, Trespassers will be Shot, Survivors will be Shot Again!"
Of course blazes can be painted on fence posts but much more commonly will be painted on trees at about 10 yards spacing. The blaze faces outward from the property line, so if you are on public land and see purple blazes you are seeing the line that shalt not be crossed.

Side Note: a couple dipshit beaurocrats in VA & TN parks & recreation have decided to use purple blazes to mark specific hiking trails. These are the ideas of dumbest city boys from Nashville or Richmond who haven't the foggiest idea about the long accepted code of the trail. But as was mentioned earlier, property line blazes are usually 10"-12" in diameter where-as hiking trail blazes are usually about 3" diameter.
But in general, if you're in the woods in the south and come across other folk, smile real big and wave! This indicates "I'm supposed to be here and generally approachable if you have questions." On the other hand if you refuse to make eye contact and try to slink away, it indicates "I'm up to no good and feel guilty for being caught here." The latter will get you shot 9 times out of 8!!!

Garbage

Congratulations !!!

Part of my ignore list. Fuck off!!

Nice try kid, but... Bad Call... seriously. If you have any interest in BTC at all, you'll benefit from the Torque tid-bits that trickle through from time to time. But Hey, no biggie, we all take wrong turns from time to time. Personally, if I knew half of what I thought I knew at 26 I'd be living on TOP of the world!!! Speaking of BTC... what's your connection? You've been here since what late 2017? (Didn't look, forgive me if I mis-remembered) And you're Bangladeshi, so in an emerging market that is much more populous than profitable, but getting better in general if I understand correctly. No specifics of course (as you seem to already be exposing WAY too much Op-Sec-wise) but what's your game/experience? Did you start buying in 2017? DCA or have you been trying to make it on the day trading Rollercoaster? If you started DCA in December of 2017, that was a high point at $20kish... I could imagine you'd spent a good deal of time in the red with 3 years bouncing between $3k-$10k... but if you continued to invest all that time, you'd be in a pretty good situation right now! But I'm guessing that's not the way it played out since you're still fuckin around with signature campaigns and what not. So what IS your story? Are the signature campaigns really paying off in any meaningful way? Are you reinvesting proceeds into BTC? Or just scrambling to get by day to day and missing even more opportunities than the $3k coins you coulda had? Your English is pretty damn good and you're obviously pretty capable judging by your abilities to navigate the forum... so I can imagine you're able to make a decent living in the fiat world. Coder? Customer support? Just guessing, (OpSec) so whats the plan for rising to the top when the fiat crash comes? (Note I said When not If. If you're really 26, and even more so if 16... storms are brewing! You're bound to sail right into the rough!) What's the game?

(TLDR: Stop Trying to be the type that fits in! Stop trying to earn Merits! Stop trying to contribute regurgitated crap! And maybe people will start to accept YOU if you ever get around to who YOU are...)

Another rejection from $50k resistance this morning but thus far has not taken a harsh Downward bounce so I suspect it's building pressure to make another swing at it soon. If it can build enough volume to push through, there doesn't appear to be another big resistance point until $70k.

POMP IT!
