Latest issue:

I'm staking constantly since the beginning of the year and today is the first day that the wallet is using more than 30% of my cpu.
It has never happened before.

I'm using the latest wallet on Win 8.1 64

Actually I have noticed this too. And same setup. Anyone explain?
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - DNotesVault Now Open for Registration! on: January 20, 2015, 06:10:15 PM
Let me response briefly to the giveaway of DNotes brought up by TeeGee, RJF, and Chase. I agree that a fixed value of $20 or even $10 sounds much more appealing than a number of DNotes, such as 1,000 or 2,000. The truth of the matter is that with the anticipated large number of participants involving our family of 6 CR.I.S.Ps, we are not in the position to send even $10 or 1,000 DNotes to everyone who signed up. For all practical purposes, the amount of DNotes for general giveaway will drop to 100 DNotes or $1 based on today value sooner or later. One could argue that, given this consideration, 100 DNotes sounds more appealing than $1.

Bear in mind that all giveaways must be a limited time offer, possibly along with other qualifying factors.

Having said that, we may want to consider offering a limited time promotion for CR.I.S.P. for Retirement, expiring on Dec. 31, 2015.  Perhaps we can offer an automatic deposit of 100 DNotes for each qualified (we will have do define "qualified") plus 50 DNotes for every 1,000 DNotes saved, up 10,000 or a maximum of 500 DNotes. This could encourage participants to save a larger amount early when DNotes is relatively undervalued.

Those are some of the details we need to iron out. My suggestions should not be construed as final. We always value your suggestions and give them serious consideration.

I am all for the CRISP retirement. I will buy more and place what I have (except my CRISP for kids) into it no questions asked. I truly believe that this is way to go. Have a conventional 401k and that in conjunction with a CRISP retirement account would almost guarantee funds if one was to go bust. Honestly I trust DNotes more than a 401k due to the fact that fiat money, investments, etc. are going extinct.  A new time is upon us and it is in the cryptocurrency world. Maybe not in 5 or 10 years, but in 20 MOST definitely. The wave of the future people and it all starts here.

305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FIRE] FireCoin - 97K <PoW - 150K >POS on: January 20, 2015, 05:51:36 PM
For some reason I have never gotten any message from you crypto. I have the twitter for you if you want.

Thanks, I will check into it & work on cleaning it up for the FIRE community. It should belong to the FIRE community always, so if a team or business wants to rebuild FIRE. I'll give them the account, also if the community wants a new ANN & the login info, that can be done as well.

P.S. Would you be willing to give the FIRE community the Reddit page as well, the community would have to buy the website, as that would have cost something to purchase the domain. Would you know how long the website domain is good till, maybe a few updates on there in the near future as well? Maybe an access/login just to make updates, in the future?

**Just some ideas to help the community rebuild**

Reddit was created by someone else I believe.

Any chance Tom14cat14 of coming back and helping out firecoin?

Nope! I am so glad I am out of alt coins and this mess.

Sorry to hear that. I thought that you were one of the most honest devs out there. I understand though. Take care.

Another reason that bitcoin probably dropped was due to a site called Cryptodouble that ran from Dec 17th until two weeks ago. The site closed down and the owner then proceeded to sell 2000 btc on BTC-E. This didn't help the downward trend. It is recovering now slowly but that did some of its damage.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, mafort1469. This is indeed news to me. However, a $500,000 dump with daily trading volume as high as $100 million may not be the only reason why Bitcoin lost over 30% in the first two weeks of the year.

Read more:
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-ponzi-cryptodouble-disappears-least-2233-bitcoins/

CryptoDouble, a website founded on the promise of doubling its users’ deposits within 100 hours, ceased all its operations. At least 2233 BTC (about $500,000) have been cashed out on BTC-E, leaving thousands of customers out of pocket.

The service gained a significant popularity on Bitcointalk, where customers first testified about the service and its supposed effectiveness.

Despite several warnings from advanced Bitcoin users and previous Bitcoin Ponzi scams, a significant number of users have been attracted by the website’s promises and its investment possibilities. More than 200 different altcoins were featured in the investment opportunity list. Customers simply had to pick up an altcoin and then blindly send their funds to CryptoDouble wallets’ addresses, hoping for ulterior interest.

Unfortunately for these users, today the website went offline without any notice. The total prejudice is still unknown at the time of writing – several different crypto-currencies and blockchains were used in this swindle.

However, as indicated by the address a cryptodouble customer used to send funds to, the scammer stole at least 2233 bitcoins, and then sent the whole amount on BTC-e’s hot wallet to probably dump them.

While we don’t know yet the final scope of the disaster, the subsequent Bitcoin dumps are very likely to increase the current Bitcoin price plunge, in view of the significant sums involved.

The last two tweets sent from CryptoDouble, both on January 8, say:

There is highly coordinated and massive DDOS attack on CryptoDouble taking place right now. Our engineer handle it. Please allow some time. – Service is recovering now. We are still monitoring and analyzing the issue. All payouts will be processed shortly.

14/01/15 Update: A member of hashtalk is planning to launch a class-action lawsuit against CryptoDouble’s owner.

CCN will regularly update this story once additional information will be made available.

Yes, I agree this amount shouldn't/wouldn't cause a significant drop, however, I believe the owner was dumping btc the entire time the site was up. This in conjunction with end of year fears likely helped the steep drop. Doesn't really matter as DNotes maintained throughout this mess which I am MOST impressed by!!

I could go either way on the retirement or student crisp. From my perspective I want the retirement crisp first. I do believe that if that is in place first alongside the crisps for kids that it would indeed entice students to put forth more effort into this than if they just saw only crisp for kids. If both of these will truly only be a month apart then it really doesn't matter, but crisp retirement first then crisp student is my opinion.

Don't know. The dev was last active 10 days ago. Will be soon as he always pulls through. His word is gold and I do trust what he says even if time takes longer than predicted. He is solo working on this so it might take a little longer than expected.

doesnt look like anyone wants to buy over 800sat right now. Stop being greedy. price will rise in time.

1 btc would make a pretty awesome buy wall at 1000... damn I wish I had one

I'd love to see one too, but i think it may take a little longer. I see it falling a little with all the large buy orders for 600 and 700 sat range. I see it changing but it's screaming Don't wanna go over 800 sat right now. That is still really good for now.

I will sit back and be happy with my MJ stash. Good things are coming.

I'm gonna buy more silk and choke on it. Yes sir! Have tripled my stash and will continue to buy more. I mean who wouldn't at this price??
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FIRE] FireCoin - 97K <PoW - 150K >POS - chance to rebuild on: January 13, 2015, 02:15:08 AM
Tom14Cat14 has granted access to the Twitter page, now the community has another way to keep updated with rebuilding/improving FIRE. It would have been tough to get back all the followers from the launch, it will be granted to anyone who wants to rebuild/improve FIRE Wink I will also create a new ANN when I get a chance too, which will go with the Twitter page.

P.S. I'm just making sure FIRE doesn't fully break, it will still need a dedicated team to get it going again Cool

Excellent news. Thank you!

I also noticed recently that the diff was down to 3 to 4 for a short while recently, I believe a couple of days ago.

Is the diff history recorded somewhere?

My diff is 8.9 currently

@GWC

Your mention of the latest Doge Core, 1.8 is very interesting.

Does anyone know if the Via version is better?  or just the same?

I'm not really familiar with the VIA code so I can't say one is better than the other. Glanced at the source and it is different (code-wise) in many areas from Doge core. Maybe someone has some experience with it and can enlighten us with some of its features...

I mentioned Doge core, because that is what Octo is based on and it would be fairly simple to follow their updates and implement them into 888,if we wanted to go the merged-mining route...

Please someone just do it. Thanks.
