I sent the btc to places I thought were going to bring a good return.  So no this wasn't a scam.  I got scammed and that is why I'm not able to return all the coins.

And yet you claim to have no records which can prove that a single BTC of user funds were sent to pirate or spent on hardware rather than blown at the casino or spent on hookers and blow.

Are you as careless about keeping records related to your non-Bitcoin dealings?

You're most likely looking for Roa'a magazine.  I hope you speak Arabic if you want to contact them seeking more information.

By the way, the article (and the hundreds of other articles about the same ad) is from April.

Even then, why do you need anything?  All you need is in your soul.

Then your soul should be able to get you to the West Coast.  Why are you such a special snowflake that you can't get yourself from one side of the country to the other without money when young people have been getting themselves around the US, Europe, Asia and Australia without money for decades?  You could have already been to the West Coast and back by now if you actually got off your ass occasionally.

If I saw somebody with the forum name BF_Theo, I would assume they were a BFL staff member. If I had a problem with my order, I would probably send them my order number etc if they offered to help.

You absolutely should not do that. BFL doesn't own the "BFL_" username prefix. I will not ban people for simply using that prefix in their usernames.

Perhaps we need to assign some kind of "confirmed" status to actual company representatives so that users can easily distinguish between service provider staff and others who may use the prefix because they're fanbois or trolls.

Depends on the amount of the debt. You can always get a quote. The problem is this way you forfeit the majority of your money. Thus for most people this is not a reasonable option.

The problem is that you need to be able to provide proof of the debt which would stand up in court.  Debt collectors don't just take your word for it that someone owes you money.  Their biggest bargaining chip is threatening to take people to court if payment is not received.  They can't even continue to ask people for payment if they can't provide proof of the debt to the creditor on demand.

I really didn't keep much records.  The only thing I used was the website for making payments and taking in deposits.

If you didn't keep records, how can you have been operating anything other than a scam from the outset?  You've pretty much just admitted that you spent any funds which were in your wallet however you felt like spending them at the time and that you basically treated user deposits as your personal piggy-bank.

My interest is that maybe he didn't voluntarily choose to disappear, as there is (to my knowledge) no indication that he did.  Perhaps he died is basically what I'm getting at.

The devs have never even hinted that the circumstances of his disappearance or unknown or that he suddenly went MIA with no explanation, so I'm inclined to believe that he made them aware that he was going to drop off the radar.  His second last post made it clear that he wasn't happy about people trying to create a link between Bitcoin and Wikileaks because he thought that it would attract the wrong kind of attention to Bitcoin.

I'm curious about why dank thinks the original hippies aren't all living on communes and surviving on peace, love and brown rice waiting for the Age of Aquarius to dawn.
1629  Economy / Lending / Re: [Need] 100 BTC loan, I defaulted with others - Will pay 10.5 btc monthly minimum on: December 04, 2012, 03:19:48 AM
Wait, where did 100 BTC come from? I'm showing that you've repaid 32.5 BTC out of 60 BTC from the debt you had back in January...

Did I miss the answer to this question?

Getting all pissy when people ask you reasonable questions isn't going to make anyone more likely to lend with you.  If the funds are going to a third party to distribute to the people you owe money to, it doesn't matter whether it comes from 1 lender or 10 and you're probably going to get more people willing to risk lending you 10 BTC than you are willing to lend you 100 BTC - especially given your attitude (I sure as hell hope you don't cop the same attitude at job interviews or you'll be unemployed for a long time).

You flounce has probably lessened the chances of you getting a loan here but that doesn't absolve you of responsibility for trying to find other ways to pay back what you borrowed.  "No-one on Bitcointalk would lend me more funds so I can't pay anyone" reeks of entitlement.

Don't let these people manipulate you into believing you are bound to a normal life through hell on earth.

Believe it or not, plenty of people are happy without believing that they're Hendrix reincarnated or that they exist on a superior plane of consciousness (which is a pretty fucking egotistical belief you should probably reflect on next time you're tripping).

That you were unable to find happiness without tripping balls and believing in the oneness of all things doesn't mean others can only be happy if they believe that they're going to be the world's greatest guitar player (ego), organise the world's biggest music festival (ego) or that they're going to transcend "hell on earth" in 17 days time.  All you've demonstrated is an absolute inability to deal with objective reality.

You call it expanding your consciousness, but in your case it's pure escapism and when 21 December comes and goes without the bullshit you've predicted coming to pass you're either going to have to admit that you're not a special little snowflake with cosmic insight and mystical powers or retreat further into your drug-fuelled disconnection from reality.

I suspect that the only thing you're going to achieve by the end of the year is getting committed to a psych ward by your parents.

Quote Wikipedia - "Several scenarios for the end of the world including galactic alignment, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, a geomagnetic reversal, nuclear war, collision with Nibiru or some other interplanetary object, alien invasion, and the Earth being destroyed by a giant supernova. David Morrison and other scientists from NASA, along with expert archeologists have stated that none of those events are possible."

That text should be edited.  The events are not impossible - they are just improbable.

It's impossible for some of them to happen in December this year even though they will likely happen at some time in the (distant) future.

At least dank hasn't called us all "larval" yet (Timothy Leary might have started out as a legitimate researcher but he was an egotistical whack-job in his later years).

Freezing here. I'm staying in today.

I stayed in for most of last week because the temperature was nudging 40 C.  I hate El Niņo years.

Love is going to tell everyone to stop attacking.  It will make everyone stop attacking, one way or another.  Those that choose to live with ego will die and remain in a world like today, searching for love.  Everyone has a choice to stay on an earth-like plane or find heaven.  All you must do is believe.

The Rapture meets the Age of Aquarius ITT.
1636  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dank Dream 2012 on: December 03, 2012, 10:34:04 AM
Wow, your incapacity to accept that even you can make a mistake is staggering.

Ironically, while dank claims to have experienced ego death, he's behaving far more like someone experiencing the megalomania which Erowid lists as one of the potential negative effects of dropping acid.

Quote
Megalomania is characterized by an inflated sense of self-esteem and overestimation by persons of their powers and beliefs.

Trying to convince someone tripping balls that they're not omniscient and omnipotent is like trying to convince a paranoid schizophrenic having a psychotic break that aliens aren't beaming thoughts into his brain - absolutely pointless.

I suspect that dank's future tales will be less about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas experiences than they will be about parental "harassment" to obtain mental health care.

serious question...
In the last few months when you made your transformation into the all knowing/mighty was any LSD, mushrooms (or similar) taken ?

Your rantings sound very similar to what I'm sure most people have experienced. The annoying friend who takes LSD then starts with all this hippy crap.
Usually they grow out of it after a few months, luckily Wink

He confirmed in his Off-Topic thread that he dropped acid - which many people assumed from the way he was posting.

1639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: jgarzik goes berzerk in #bitcoin-dev, wtf? on: December 03, 2012, 07:30:06 AM
Which is antithetical to the purpose of bitcoin technology in the first place. The idea that no government can control what people do with their money.

Bitcoin doesn't give a damn about your revolution, or your anarcho-capitalism, or your political idealogy or your <sacred principles>.

People do.

You quoted the wrong person.  It wasn't me who said that, it was LightRider.  I've consistently said that Bitcoin is simply a protocol which people can use as they see fit.  There's nothing stopping anarchists using it to further their ideology but they have no right to demand that others do the same or adapt it for that purpose any more than people who are in Bitcoin purely for the money have the right to demand that others use it for purely commercial purposes.  It's a tool and that's all it is.
1640  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report Against CryptoXchange $100k USD on: December 03, 2012, 06:31:06 AM
To get adequate service for a statutory demand, postal delivery isn't sufficient.

This is not true.  The ATO - for instance - serves all of their statutory demands by mail to the address on record with ASIC, as do many businesses which issue statutory demands on a regular basis.  This is one reason why not keeping your details current on the ASIC registers is potentially catastrophic.  It's also why it's a good idea to list your lawyer or accountant's office for service of notices because statutory demands are not issued through courts and many people ignore them assuming that they're just a letter of demand because they don't realise their significance.

Where issuing a statutory demand through a lawyer can be tricky is the requirement that the affidavit be sworn by someone who has personal knowledge of the circumstances of the debt -this is obviously somewhat more difficult if the lawyer cannot get the client into their office to swear the affidavit as any deficiency in the affidavit will make render the statutory demand invalid.

Caveats are messy and easily set aside unless you have a true "interest in land".  The onus is on the caveator to prove that such an interest exists and that the caveat is being used for a proper purpose.  Trying to obtain a caveat in relation to the personal property of a company director in regard to a company debt which has not been proven (as opposed to an interest held by a mortgagor, a spouse, a joint property owner, a property purchaser, etc) is asking for the caveat to be set aside with an award of costs against the person who sought it.
