441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need some help with CGminer, please... on: August 25, 2011, 12:07:40 AM
Windows 7 64 bit, 2.3ghz Phenom x4, one Radeon HD 4870. GCMiner version 1.5.8.C:\[file hierarchy]\cgminer.exe
You can't direct it like that using c:\blah\blah
You must run it from the directory it's in directly.
cd \blah\blah
cgminer.exe -blah -blah

It still crashes when I run it directly and input the stuff for one pool by hand.

Yeah... command prompt didn't help at all, it just shows the same "cgminer.exe has stopped working" popup, with the terminal turning that unresponsive grey.

Did you run it through command prompt or in command prompt?  Only one will show you what is going wrong.

Apparently my googling hath failed me. Explain please?

I mean did you run cgminer with the Start command or simply go to the directory and type cgminer.exe -blah -blah.
442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help trying to get 2 or more videos cards to work on: August 25, 2011, 12:03:21 AM
Weird, I wonder what's wrong. Huh  I'd suggest imaging the good computer's hard drive onto the bad computer's hard drive.  If you have things you want to save on the bad hard drive simply purchase a new hard drive and mine with that.  This should fix your problem if it is software related.

P.S. Have you looked at task-manager to see what the CPU usage is and do you have a program which monitors GPU usage?

How experienced are you and who have you worked for?  What age are you and how did you learn?  What kind of price range are you looking for?

I'm interested in learning more about what you have to offer, but I don't believe I personally will be interested.

It sounds to me like you are either mining with the CPU instead of the second GPU or are mining twice on the first GPU instead of on GPU 1 and GPU 2.

The only graphics card I know of which the fan is likely to die is the 5970.

P.S. Where are you running those cards?  I've read those 6970's put out quite a few decibels.

Okay thanks, I thought I was missing something. Smiley
448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cant receive payments or payouts on: August 24, 2011, 01:46:21 PM
Ok for some reason I am not able to receive payments or payouts I have tried deleting bitcoin and re downloading, still doesn't work. I lost a 14.4 bitcoin payout because of this and Im very angry. Thanks

You need two things if you want any help:

1: You need to give a whole lot more information on what happened or else no-one can help you even if they wanted to.

2:(This isn't mandatory, just common sense) You will get more help if you lighten up a bit.
449  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats the best miner to choose? on: August 24, 2011, 01:40:22 PM
I would say for BTC guild is the best pool but I'm not 100% percent sure they aren't cheating their miners.  Of course you can't be 100% sure on any pool.
450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I can't seem to get it to work, help please! on: August 24, 2011, 01:37:53 PM
Not sure how to fix your hidden GPU problem, was your monitor plugged into the 6950 when you booted the computer?  If you do get it to see the GPU you should mine on a pool because it would be almost impossible to find a block mining solo with one 6950.
451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin for a game - A young students view on his life (and bitcoin) on: August 24, 2011, 01:28:01 PM
What level games are you programming?  Are they 3D or 2D?  Who does your graphics?  Can we see a free example of your code?

Sorry to bombard you with questions but I'm always information hungry. Wink

I can't wait to see how this project of yours turns out.  Maybe I can join you if you don't mind. I'm less than 25 myself.

P.S. I'd love to code some AI for you or anything else you have but I'm not sure If I'm experienced enough compared to you to really help.

P.P.S. If you want to do this on your own I understand, I just thought I'd offer my humble services.
452  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need some help with CGminer, please... on: August 24, 2011, 01:14:22 PM
If what Graet suggested doesn't work try running cgminer in command-prompt and see what error you get.
453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Mh/s question on: August 24, 2011, 01:03:38 PM
Great info, thank you. Do you have some online resource where you can see the current mh/s to btc is it just from your data?

You mean this online resorce?

I answered this question before, here's the quote:

The strait answer is NO!  Even if you mine on a pool it would not be worth it.  You would only get roughly 0.34 BTC per month which is equal to about $3.73.

Here's a link to a BTC mining calculater site: http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator.php

I've got an 360m and I was getting about 0.008/day.

Even if you were to buy a graphics card externally, heat just kills these overpowered laptops.

Do you mean 360M/hashes?  If so your numbers are waaaay off.

456  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining with slow internet? on: August 23, 2011, 09:56:10 PM
You might have a problem with increased stales because of your connection speed if you are going to run on a pool, but it depend on "slow" you are.  Also, if you run on a pool you will notice an increase in bandwidth consumption.(Just a heads up)

Happy Mining

458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin txns stuck at 0 confirms after wallet.dat restore on: August 20, 2011, 01:26:13 PM
I don't know much about Ubuntu, but I have some ideas of what might be wrong.  Did you put this file in the same one which your wallet is in by default, and do you have file extensions enabled for known file types?

P.S. How long have you tried to connect before turning off the client, on a bad day it can still take ~20 min.
459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does a transfer work ? on: August 18, 2011, 01:50:22 PM
I'm fairly sure this is incorrect, your addresses are not linked together in an "account" in the eyes of the network.  It is true the addresses don't actually contain the coins but that's getting more technical than necessary.

I'm not positive, but I believe you would send the coins as a 25 coin clump made up from the coins in 50 of the addresses.

Hope this answers your question,
BookLover
