481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [GUIDE] Delete your 0/unconfirmed transactions in 30 seconds on: August 07, 2011, 06:26:51 PM
Is this open source?  If so were can I look at the code?

P.S. For some reason this post says red flag to me, but I'm paranoid so it's probably nothing.

I've been having the same problem, I hope it's because he implemented difficulty2 shares.

Because of this you have not convinced me that it is on my end. And I do not believe that none of your other users are not having this same issue.

I had the same issue but I managed to fix it on my end by creating a backup miner which was pointed at the second server and had a higher -f setting(aka lower priority).

The reason I had to do this was because I run through TOR which causes you connection to lag slightly and for you to be put on Eleuthria botnet suspect list.

P.S. To Eleuthria, could you possibly fix that glitch?  I've previously proved I'm not a botnet in a PM.

I've found that the best way to explain BTC to someone is to get another person who knows more about it to do it for you. Wink
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the Best Safest Easiest Most Trustworthy Web-based Wallet for Non-Techie on: July 29, 2011, 01:34:57 AM
I have been with MyBitcoin for at least six months and have had no trouble with them.

P.S. I know my reputation isn't much but I've actually been on the forum for a long time, I just don't post much.
485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining on ancient computer... on: July 29, 2011, 01:29:35 AM
The strait answer is NO!  Even if you mine on a pool it would not be worth it.  You would only get roughly 0.02 BTC per month which is equal to about $0.22.
486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GUIminer doesn`t connect problem / 0 shares on: July 27, 2011, 11:45:39 PM
The username probably has an @ symbol. Put a \ before the @, and see if that helps.
So it's like:
... --user=bla\@bla.com ...
I'm not familiar with these specific pools but I don't believe this will work(but if nothing else does don't let me stop you from trying it).

He may be on the right track though, in the Username: field your username may be off because each pool does it differently.  You should check on your pools' websites or in their threads to see what should put as the miner's username.

P.S. You don't need the bitcoin client if your miner is on a pool but if you want to confirm you can mine I could tell you how to set it up to run solo.
487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GUIminer doesn`t connect problem / 0 shares on: July 27, 2011, 02:35:43 PM
Here's some questions from me:

1)Have you set up an account with the smaller pools?(I know this sounds like I'm assuming your an idiot but every makes mistakes Wink[There have been plenty of times when my computer won't turn on because the power switch was off]) Embarrassed

2)Could you post the command line for the smaller pool?

3)Are you running any odd programs in the background such as TOR?

4)Could you list the settings and flags you are using?

5)When are you getting your graphics cards(or have you not ordered them yet) because it's a whole lot simpler just to test the real deal.

P.S. If I end up helping you I would much appreciate a few bitcents.(I will do all I can to help you whether or not you tip me.)

Really, Huh I thought eleuthria said when he implemented difficulty two shares that each share show up as two on the site and the site is still showing odd numbers of shares.
Yes I've restarted my miners.  I use a combination of a .bat file and task scheduler to restart my miners every half hour.
No I haven't updated guiminer recently but this version had been working just fine.

I would upgrade guiminer for no other reason than the newer versions of poclbm are significantly faster than they used to be (depending on how old your version is).

Upgraded still having ~10% stale shares.  I wonder what the problem is which eleuthria won't announce?  I can't believe I'm the only one with this many stales.

Here's some more information for those who are trying to help.  I'm running poclbm through the latest guiminer, I have two miners for each core(the miners are pointed to different servers and I've adjusted the -f setting to -f 30 and -f 65), I also have these settings(-v -w 128), I'm running multiple machines on the pool but have been unable to determine if all the machines are affected.  I made no changes to the settings near the time of increased shares except for possible a change in where I was pointing the miners, I'm running a windows7 64-bit operating system, and I restart my miners every half hour, and my cards are HD Radeon 5970's.

Hey eleuthria, when you first installed the "super-server" my stale share rate went from ~2.5% to ~1% Grin, but during the last few days my stale share rate has consistently been ~10% Sad.  Do you have any ideas what could have happened to cause this?  I was not at home when it first started so I don't believe it was caused by a change I made, but I am open to any suggestions because I don't want to leave your pool. Wink

P.S. Are you still planning on implementing difficulty two shares? Huh I was really looking forward to those before the DDOS happened. Cry

P.P.S I'm running poclbm through guiminer on a windows7 system.

Thanks for every thing eleuthria! Smiley Cheesy Grin Shocked
491  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2700 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 06, 2011, 06:25:04 PM
The logging I put in place is for a two criteria auto-blacklist:
  1) Too many IPs on a single worker.
  2) Too many requests with too few shares returned.
Do you mean to many IPs at the same time, or to many IPs over a period of time?
492  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~3000 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 02, 2011, 01:26:07 PM
So why doesn't BTCGuild pay out all of your confirmed rewards?  Just another way for this non-fee pool to get a few more "involuntary" donations?  BTW, I already donate 1%.

Example:
Confirmed Rewards: 0.05029424
Hit the Pay Me Now button
Paid out: 0.05
Confirmed Rewards: 0.00029424

Why?  Why not pay me out all of my confirmed rewards?  Granted, we are talking fractions of a BTC here, but still...

Full decimal payouts had issues on older bitcoin clients, and it wasn't fixed until 0.3.21 (I believe that was the version, may have been +/- 0.0.1).  The amounts would not show up in your balance, and would often end up being included as transaction fees without your knowledge.

Once Automatic Payouts are implemented (this weekend unless something catastrophic happens with the servers), there will be a setting you can use which will allow full precision payouts.  It will default to 'off' and warn you when enabling that you should be using the most recent bitcoin client if you want to receive all 8 decimals of precision.

0.3.22 I believe, but there were bugs for some users when used to host solo mining, so the current version 0.3.23 is about it.
What were the bugs?

I was wondering the same thing when I read the subject Shocked.

Something tells me there is something going on here:
possibility #1 BTCprizes is a government employee.
possibility #2 There is a catch.
possibility #3 This guy had a really bad economic teacher who was paid by the government.*

*I'm not saying businesses accepting bitcoins are bad, on the contrary I would love to see more businesses taking bitcoins as payment. I'm just saying this scheme wont help in anyway.

P.S. I'd love to see if he could prove there was actually more than one person behind this.

#1. I'm not sure how being a government employee would aid anything in this "scheme"?
#2. We are 100% nonprofit.
#3. We are well aware that giving away bitcoins is a loss for us.

By "we" I am referring to myself and two other developers. We happened to catch the train at an early time and aim at helping newcomers. Our goal is to simply shine some light on bitcoin usage alternative to being used as commodity trading.

Thanks for answering my questions.
Sorry if it sounded harsh but I'm paranoid.

P.S. Just in fun, you avoided question #1 and the post thought wasn't really answered.
P.S.S. I'm mainly asking questions to leave a very little margin of doubt for other people, so that if you are legitimate people will be much more likely to join.

I'm tired of every tenth thread I see being someone who wants something for nothing.  If you want something, EARN it!  For those kind yet a little softhearted people who insist on giving away bitcoins, I have been on this forum for months and have yet to get a single tip, donation, or payment from the forum. Roll Eyes

Just kidding Wink I don't beg for tips, but if you feel like it I won't say no.

Hi, I might be interested in buying some silver. Can you please PM me with your prices? Thanks Smiley
Ditto.
I'm a previously satisfied customer, does that qualify me for any specials?
498  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~1300 gH/sec] on: June 11, 2011, 04:47:00 PM
Has anyone noticed that guiminer slows down and only ~80% GPU power after running ~30min?  I'm also getting about 2.5% stale shares and the error "warning, job finished, miner idle" a lot, is there any way to fix this?

I'm running two miners per core one pointed at btcguild.com with the flags -v -w 128, the other pointed at mine1.btcguild.com with the flags -v -w 128 -f 37.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Eleuthria!

P.S. I'm running through Tor.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can someone explain on: June 11, 2011, 03:17:31 PM
If I move my wallet from OSX to Windows, I simply run "bitcoin.exe -rescan" and all my transactions start appearing as the chain is loaded.
Could you explain how to run -rescan?
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problems connecting with Bitcoin RPC on: June 10, 2011, 11:53:25 PM
it's still not working
I don't know if this is wrong
Might be. Especially if you are trying to run the miner one one PC and bitcoin on another.

Add these lines:

rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.1.*

If your network is on a different subnet, change the 192 to the appropriate IP's and try again. As booklover mentioned, are you running bitcoin with the -server flag? If your are just opening the bitcoin gui, that is part of the problem. You either need to run bitcoind.exe or add the -server flag to the bitcoin shortcut.
but the way I set up mine was by setting the miner(the computer not the application) to a static ip address
and putting the following code in the bitcoin.conf file:
rpcallowip=miner's static ip*

Just for clarification I mean the ip(192.168.1.20)ex NOT the words.
