Wow, matching on every deposit? That basically means guaranteed profits for anyone who deposits as long as you're matching Cheesy This should be popular.

Thank you for your generosity.
103  Economy / Gambling / Re: Question? on: August 10, 2011, 12:23:15 PM
You get paid out when all the people before you have been paid, and when there is enough money in the pot to pay you.

For example:

Person 1 deposits 1 BTC (return 1.40) Money in pot: 1 BTC
Person 2 deposits 1 BTC (return 1.40) Money in pot: 2 BTC - Person 1 gets paid out, reducing the money in the pot to 0.6
Person 3 deposits 0.5 BTC (return 0.7) Money in pot: 1.1 BTC
Person 4 deposits 1 BTC (return 1.40) Money in pot: 2.1 - Person 2 gets paid out, reducing the money in the pot to 0.7

And so on. There's no guarantee you will be paid.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OFFICIALLY I GOT BACK 49% OF BTC FROM MYBITCOIN on: August 10, 2011, 12:08:48 PM
Just asking, are you feeling positive having lost half your coins?

trollish... but I had the same thought.

On the bright side, it's 49% more than 0 which is what he thought he had.
49% more than 0 is 0 Cheesy
49% is 49% more than 0%
0 * 1.49 = 0

Let's say we have 100 bitcoins.

0% of those bitcoins is 0 bitcoins.

49% more than 0 bitcoins is still 0 bitcoins. You don't simply "add" percentages together.
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 09, 2011, 11:46:44 PM
Just wanted to add that using this method, I got my money from Mt. Gox to my bank account in less than 24 hours.

107  Economy / Services / Re: Swedish Translation Service - 0.0005 BTC/word on: August 09, 2011, 03:51:11 PM
But that huge forced fee for sending any coin (0.0005 currently) is an enormous barrier which will retain the prices high for quite some time...
Many transactions are free. But you also have to pay 0.01 BTC, or even more for some. The most I've had to pay for a single transaction is 0.02 BTC.
108  Economy / Speculation / Re: Woo Hoo ! GO BABY GO ! on: August 09, 2011, 01:04:53 PM
Oh, wow... if I had waited just one more day with selling my 27 bitcoins, I'd have $100 more. Sad

Holy crap, that was fast.
110  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcatch Randomizer on: August 09, 2011, 10:31:02 AM
I noticed there was automatic rotation instead of rounds

What is this rotation?
It's not "instead of" rounds, it's a part of the rounds. It's always been there. But it's being removed.
111  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcatch Randomizer on: August 08, 2011, 06:22:33 PM
Thanks for removing the rounds system. I understand why you thought it was a good idea, but it had a few flaws. Most users weren't even aware of the feature at first, and just noticed that 0.5 BTC was suddenly gone one day.

I really love the site. Good to see it's fully launched now.  Grin

By the way, anyone signing up with my referral link gets 0.10 (20%) BTC of their deposit back. Just drop me a PM after getting your account activated.

EDIT: Didn't notice that the rules changed. First level sponsors got 50% before, but now it's only 25%, so I can't offer 0.2 BTC to those who use my link. But I will give 0.2 BTC to those who I have already promised it to.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Tom Williams" likely sold the entire myBTC.com bank @ ~13 and bought back at $8 on: August 08, 2011, 05:16:42 PM
If it was really that easy, anyone with a bit of cash would be able to produce practically infinite wealth.
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 08, 2011, 04:14:47 PM
You can't sell on bitmarket.eu without OTC reputation or something else that proves you can be trusted. I have nothing like that, and I'm sure it's the same for many others.

I thought it was only buyers that needed reputation. When you make a sale on bitmarket the BTC will be held in escrow and you won't get them back if you don't start a claims process - and if you do the buyer can point to hard banking information (the SEPA transfer) and you will likely not succeed. The normal way is for the BTC-to-sell to go into escrow, the buyer makes a transfer and the seller release the coins when she's received the money.

The reputation part is more about getting rid of bad buyers that never perform the transfers, and thus force the sellers BTC to lie in escrow for some time.

If you're lucky you might even run into a buyer in the same country as yourself, making for really quick transfers.

No, you need to verify your account to buy or sell, and to verify you need reputation.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 08, 2011, 04:10:20 PM
Paxum is pretty new, I think.

The $50 fee is for a wire transfer, a normal bank transfer, not SEPA. But since Paxum doesn't offer SEPA, I think that's the only option for Europeans through Paxum...
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 08, 2011, 02:15:04 PM
Yes. With Tradehill you used to be able to do a bank transfer for $45 (which is obviously way too expensive anyway), but bank transfers are gone now because of the whole BoA thing. You have to go through either Paxum or LibertyReserve right now, until SEPA comes back.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 08, 2011, 01:50:53 PM
Reputation is more for those who wish to use reversible methods. If you have BTC once transaction is done its done, you can't reverse it - no need for reputation for that; unless i'm not understanding this right.
You are the one who should be looking for reputable buyers and filter out the rest.
True. That would certainly be cheaper, although there is the risk of being scammed and it also takes more time.
117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 08, 2011, 01:42:42 PM
Nope, no EBay. I use the Swedish equivalent, Tradera (owned by EBay) but I have only bought/sold 7 things there and non-Swedes may not appreciate me showing a Swedish site which they don't understand Tongue
That is the only site that I can think of that would show I am trustworthy. So for someone in the same position as me, this is pretty much the only way to withdraw money.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To Europeans who need to withdraw funds on: August 08, 2011, 01:07:07 PM
You can't sell on bitmarket.eu without OTC reputation or something else that proves you can be trusted. I have nothing like that, and I'm sure it's the same for many others. And most people on the forum and IRC won't deal with people without any reputation either.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitdriller mining contracts on: August 08, 2011, 12:47:27 PM
There's plenty of people who have bought mining contracts. It's because you get newly minted coins, that's valuable to some people.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make No Mistake: MyBitcoin is NOT Back Up! on: August 08, 2011, 12:36:05 PM
If he's building plans that deep to steal from people.  he's not just a thief... he's a criminal.
I don't think it was planned, actually. I think he was just planning to take all the money and run, but when he noticed people weren't going to just let him run off and were talking about contacting the FBI and were starting to collect bounties, etc etc, he got scared and decided to take half of the money (maybe the rest is already sold?) and give it back, hoping that would save him while still getting away with a fortune.
It seems pretty convenient that it's almost exactly half of the money that's gone. I also find it hard to believe for that much money to simply "trickle away".

That said, no one can be certain whether "Tom Williams" is lying or telling the truth. Yet. But I think this smells way too fishy. You'd think he would have at least posted something here on the forum when he took the site down if his claims were indeed true.
