241  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin-Kamikaze.com [Win bitcoins or earn them with affilate program] on: July 27, 2011, 10:18:42 PM
is the md5 check fair ? if you are adding characters to the sequence numbers, there is more than 1 sequence possible

It was discussed in old topic. probably there is more than 1 sequence possible, but it's almost impossible... try to find at least one sequence which would give the same md5 hash. If you find I will use sha256 or I will add even more random characters Smiley
I need this random characters to prevent reversing the hash. Because without this characters, it would be possible to bruteforce all possible combinations.

would you believe me if I used zip-archive? This archive would contain txt file with the result and some random characters, but pass from this archive would be shown after the game.

Or offer me another way to prove the honesty.

it's not a matter if I believe it or not, but if the game will sound credible to your customers
maybe you can try with a very complex hashing and a max time to play the game, with no random characters
some 3rd party auditing may help too, I'm not a crypto expert
This is pretty much the only way to do it. A maxmimum time won't help, since someone could very easily create a rainbow table with near-instant searches. All you'd need to do is create all the hashes yourself (that's 8^5 hashes, meaning 32768 hashes) which would only take a second or two. Then you'd store these in a table or text file, start playing, look up the hash in your table or text file, and then you have the correct solution.
242  Economy / Lending / Re: Need a small loan on: July 27, 2011, 10:06:50 PM
I'd like to add that I'm also willing to split it up into multiple smaller loans, for example I could borrow 5 BTC from one person and 5 BTC from another, but I'd like to keep it to at most three loans, to simplify to repayment process. So if you have 3-5 BTC to spare, that will work as well.

Thanks!

Hi.

I realize I'm new here, and there probably won't be anyone to take me up on this offer. But I'd like a small loan, say 10 BTC, for about a month.

I don't need the money for any one specific purchase. It is not for mining equipment. I'm simply in a bad spot and need some money quickly to pay my monthly bills and the like. I don't have any form of income during the summer, and due to poor planning I've ran out of funds. However, I will start getting a monthly income again sometime between the 22nd and 26th of August, and this is when I will be able to repay you.

I don't have any #bitcoin-otc feedback. I do, however, have some feedback on Tradera, which is basically the Swedish equivalent of EBay. I can show you this upon request.

Please send me a PM with your offer (interest and how long I get to pay back) or any questions you may have.

Thanks in advance.

Is that 25BTC, per line item above?  Shocked

Also, what are the specific requirements-- are you looking for code, or compiled applications.  Should these tools run in Windows, Linux or Mac?  Can they be command line driven, or do you need a GUI?

He's selling, not buying.

Someone's got a bit of sand in their vagina, it seems.
246  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage] on: July 25, 2011, 07:36:19 PM
I deposited 0.925 BTC on the 18th. Today, a week later, I've made back half of that (0.458 BTC) just from random sponsorships.

Looking good so far.

Just made a deposit. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
248  Economy / Gambling / Re: Going DOWN - The Amazing Anonymous Bitcoin Lottery on: July 18, 2011, 03:22:49 PM
I haven't taken part in TAABL, but to me it looked like the lottery could have been called "Going Down", or maybe the fees were going down. You could edit the title to be more alarmist, like "The Amazing Anonymous Bitcoin Lottery is SHUTTING DOWN, withdraw your funds!"
Yeah, I also got the impression that Going Down was the title of the lottery, that it was some kind of new twist or something. But I guess anyone participating would know what the thread is about anyway.

How long has it been running? If it has not increased at all in an hour, you may need to forward ports in your router. If you have a software firewall on your computer, that may be blocking the client's traffic as well.

OR do what Yuusha said.  You might have to chmod +x it first, though.
Yeah, forgot that. Right clicking and then going to permissions and making the file executable should be enough, though, if your OS supports this. Ubuntu does, for example.

Yes I do, and I *fully* understand the implications.

Than you
Create a file, name it bitcoin.sh (or *anything*.sh), open it in a text editor, type in:

Code:
bitcoin -rescan

Save the file, place it wherever you want, run it.

Create a shortcut to bitcoin.exe, right click, properties, add -rescan to the target.

"Create a shortcut to xxx.exe"

How does one do this in Linux?

TIA
Run the Bitcoin client the way you usually do, but add -rescan to the end of the command. I think.

Yeah, that's right. That should work just fine.

Create a shortcut to bitcoin.exe, right click, properties, add -rescan to the target.

Use Pushpool.

If you can't figure out how to run it yourself, you shouldn't be running a pool.

Check the "X blocks" number in the bottom right of your client, then go to Block Explorer and check if the number matches the one on the site. If it doesn't, you haven't downloaded the whole blockchain yet. Simply leave your client running until the number in the client matches the current number at Block Explorer, and then you should have your money.
