Shadow-qt that's 736k in size? That doesn't seem right. My exe is > 11M in size, not to mention all the other files that come with it in the zip.

I will have to seriously hunt for the info on the statements made by FINCEN/CFTC/SEC/etc on the way they are viewing crypto, but suffice it say, they all agree that its a commodity and your free to barter with commodities without them looking over your shoulder.

http://fincen.gov/statutes_regs/guidance/html/FIN-2013-G001.html

Seems like they view it like fiat. IMO it's just a matter of time before IDs will be required to even trade in crypto.

Are there any known issues when using an "old" wallet? I have a wallet from late last year and am trying to get the new client to get sync'd. It runs for a little bit and then throws an error saying something about not being able to open the wallet. It opened it fine at the start obviously as it's showing a balance but while it's syncing I end up with this and have to restart. I noticed that my old wallet is 88k in size and the default one it generated when I first started it, is 96k.

Also, is there a way to export my private keys and then reimport them? Can't seem to find that anywhere.
YES! we forked remember old wallets are no longer on the correct chain, i had a few problems with the new wallet but i it must ofbeen my new computer because i downloaded it on the old one and it works well, not many people are having issues so I|am thinking it's most likely on your end because it was on mine also.

I'm referring to the wallet.dat file (the actual "wallet"), and not the client which most people refer to as the wallet. I'm using the latest and greatest client so it should be on the correct fork.

FYI, libwinpthread-1.dll should be packaged into the zip daemon directory. You can't run spreadcoind without that file.

PSA for anybody who didn't hear the news.  Poloniex will be requiring your identity before you can withdraw coins starting on May 20th, which is in about 24 hours.  Better get your coins off there ASAP if you don't want to be privacy raped.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/36er4h/poloniex_changes_identity_margin_trading_lending/

Warn others.
That seemed to happen damn fast. Most likely so they don't have to deal with mass outrage. I suspect it's probably just the first step though to requiring ids as well.

Looks like a dirty trick. Sure, everyone will give fake info. Then they demand ID before letting you withdraw, and if your ID doesn't match your fake info you are screwed.

I had exactly the same thought lol

any efforts right now will be wasted. i dont know how many times i have to repeat myself: only morons and gamblers are going to see an incomplete project in a vast ocean of scams as a good investment. we may pick up 1 or 2 people every week, but the vast majority of people see no benefit in buying SDC right now.

Why? Why would adding things like the market make one bit of difference to a CURRENCY's long term prospects. Right now, the coin is "done" and anything else is just "stuff" built on top of it. It's an anonymous currency that can be used by the masses. Things like the market are only going to create a bump in the price and will simply be home for mostly things like SilkRoad. The masses won't care about those things, they're going to want a coin they can use to buy real things with simply and fast. The coin is ready to do that now without any "fluff". 99% of the coins out now will always be "failures" because they have no plan or effort for adoption. How many faucets are there for SDC right now? How many gambling sites and/or games can you use SDC on? That's just basic crypto stuff and SDC has pretty much none of that. Until people stop waiting for more "stuff" and actually start getting it adopted, it's never going to be more than just another coin to trade on exchanges. The coin doesn't need investors, it needs adoption.

Are you claiming faucets, games, and gambling make coins? Half of the coins out there have these things, but I wouldn't go about claiming those to be successful. In my opinion, for a coin to be successful it needs to have it's own ecosystem. When the market is released and the SDK is put together, then we can see this come to fruition.

That's not what I said. Reread it.

You claim we need adoption. I claim that adoption will come as more things are released. Pushing for adoption too early can be dangerous. Satoshi warned against it with bitcoin and I agree with that. Just let things develop naturally. No need to force anything on this baby coin.

The thing is, the project will never really be done. Going back and reading stuff shortly after the ShadowSend2 release, it appears that it's not the final version and that there will be a ShadowSend3 and maybe even 4. There will always be things that can be added and updated. Taking a "if we build it they will come" approach rarely works and I've been involved in a number of projects outside this realm that have proved that time and time again. At it's core, SDC is a currency meant to buy and sell things. That's "done" and so there's no reason for there not to be an effort for more adoption and real world use. Adoption is a slow process and should be constantly ongoing.

As for waiting for the marketplace, NXT has a marketplace. I haven't got myself back up to speed on that project but it seems to have had little effect on that coins adoption. Maybe it's too limited or something, as I said I haven't got back up to speed on that coin. At least from a price standpoint, it's around 3700 now and late last year when I was trading it, it was around the 5000-6000 mark. So really, thinking that the market will somehow change the coins adoption/popularity appears to be just based in wishful thinking.

(probably) the best anon solution in crypto and nobody cares.
what the hell?

are you all too busy on facebook to give a crap? For shame.
Mindless spineless sheople craving a quick buck. If this is who we are we deserve to pop soma in our brave new world  Angry So lame.

bring me Zeuner. NOW!
I want that goddamned report from Leipzig otherwise Im gonna hop in my car and go get the bastard thing myself  Angry

If the report is still not ready Id like a note from Isidor communicated through a Team member here on BCT explaining in his words the hold-up. He has his reputation to consider after all.

I will revisit this subject in 72 hours if nothing is said and will make an even bigger stink. Please forgive my aggressive approach but I simply refuse to remain hanging in Zeuner limbo any longer. Enough is enough.

Been catching up on the thread since about the September time frame and this post seems out of character for you. You appeared to be one of the more reasonable people in here lol

I do agree though. Was going to ask what happened to the review as it's been somewhere around 3 months now I think.

Also disappointed that the devs never clearly addressed the question as to how similar ShadowSend2 is to cryptonote in terms of the underlying method. There was some reference to things like the libraries, the curve etc used but that's just the implementation, not the fundamental cryptography. There was also a question about blockchain bloat (although I find the whole bloat thing as not really an issue) similar to cryptonote coins that I didn't see answered.

Doesn't understand that the volume of dark markets pushed bitcoin to it's peak.
It is an all encompassing truly anonymous economy/marketplace in one nice little piece of software. This is the holy grail of cryptocurrency. Aside from wacky blockchain functionality like voip or vpn or whatever crazy things other coin devs figure out how to tack on their stuff, this isn't that... this is the endgame man. Clearly you have not been following this coin for long. 1 year of solid dev work. This coin will never be "done". It is just getting started.
You guys are hillarious. I was here before ShadowSend 2 was done. Had some PMs with rynomster back then about whether or not the project should be part of XBridge etc when that all came up. I just haven't been around for a few months as life kept me too busy to do much more than read.

But it's nice to see how friendly you all are. Seriously, some of you should step away from the forum and the net and then come back and create a more "friendly" atmosphere. Perhaps not assuming someone is attacking the coin like you've done would be a start. I was speaking in general about all coins and not specifically about SDC. But simply stating a coin will be around for a long time won't make it so. It just comes across as disingenuous and like the community has their head in some non reality universe. lol

How does what I've done, am doing or will do change in any way what I pointed out? Are we having a whose cock is bigger competition or something? lol

Isn't ICO Initial Crowdfunding Option?
That's something new that's cropped up lately. But if they're giving coins in return then it's not real crowdfunding, just an IPO/ICO/Presale.

spreadcoin had a decent start although most people overlooked it. So not sure how many coins the original dev got at the start but he's disappeared so it doesn't really matter. The new guys are doing a pretty good job.

Yeah they did... Went from being what I felt was the best interface to being crap. At least in terms of the graph. It's like they hired someone who doesn't actually trade to design and implement it. I'm able to login.

i noticed few problems as well. for example in the orders page is missing which coin/market belongs each order and graphs have rendering problems. and i really don't like the #7f7f7f background color for those important labels

Used to be easy to see how much volume there was for any particular candle along with the high/low open/close etc. Now it's a lot harder to do.

Can't open up the complete list of buy/sell orders or history either. So now you have to scroll through them and I don't think they're showing all of them.

Less usability than there was before.

it costs exactly LESS THAN $1 a week in Bittrex trading fees

LESS THAN 1$ A WEEK!

Not sure how you came up with that number. It's 0.2BTC in trading volume a week to remain listed, so roughly $50/week in trades. Not a hell of a lot really.

I guess what you mean is if a person were to buy and sell $50/week for a zero sum profit/loss then he's only out the fees which would be what $0.125/week?

Might want to update the OP. It appears the only exchange that has SPR now is Bittrex. Not a good thing IMO.
