1161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW ZenCloud ZenPool Hashlet - does it really exist? ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: August 30, 2014, 09:35:32 AM
Has anyone noticed that with logging in you agree to the "new" TOS?

https://zenminer.com/cloud/terms.html

With things like this:

Quote
You understand that Hashlets are virtual service units related to mining services, but are not mining hardware. Hashlets earnings depend on the pool chosen and Payouts reflect respective Pool Payouts. Selecting a Pool does not imply physically or electronically mining at the selected Pool. Rather, selecting a Pool determines a Payout corresponding to a calculation based on the selected Pool’s payout (based on, for example, real-time Megahash/second/day calculations). A Hashlet is virtual software. You will receive Payouts according to the Pool with with the Hashlet is associated. You expressly understand the the Company’s sole obligation to You is to Provide a Payout based on the Pool you choose. It may take 24-48 hours for your Hashlet to appear on Your Portal. Company reserves the right to refund You, and terminate services, at any time and for any reason. All sales are final.

Sweet.  So basically, a Hashlet simply pays out based on pool payouts.  There is no "real" mining going on in relation to them.  GAWs may or may not actually be mining (although it looks like they do).

So basically, the payouts are really either:

1. Ponzi
2. Day trading with what you paid for it
3. GAWs actual mining operation

You can definitely cover the hashlet payout strictly using just #2 unless you have a run of bad luck.  IMO it's probably all 3 at this point and will (assuming they're actually skilled), end up being a mix of #2 and #3.  As long as they can maintain a solid mining operation, #2 would only be needed to supplement the payout and keep zenpool payout higher than any other pool out there.  So it's basically all just smoke and mirrors and straight from their own TOS.

Didn't they promote and sell this to people as if it was real proprietary hardware?
1162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GB] $ GreenBacks $ ~ A Complete Currency & Infrastructure ~ LAUNCHED on: August 29, 2014, 06:25:36 PM
As a relative newbie to crypto currencies, I simply assumed that GB would be relying on the Bitcoin blockchain since, according to p. 3 of the whitepaper:

Quote
Greenbacks is developed off a fork of Bitcoin, improving upon what is evidently the most successful current cryptocurrency. It is designed with important specifications, and a thorough infrastructure that makes it a complete decentralized payment system.

When a coin says it's a fork of some other coin, it means it's based on the source code of that coin.  It's a "fork" (copy) of the coin. This isn't the same thing as a fork that occurs in some blockchain.

"In software engineering, a project fork happens when developers take a copy of source code from one software package and start independent development on it, creating a distinct and separate piece of software."

There was some coin (can't remember its name) that was a fork of bitcoin and litecoin forked from that one.  A lot of POS coins are forks of either peercoin or novacoin.  novacoin was a fork of peercoin and I think peercoin was a fork of bitcoin as well.
fork fork fork
what the fuck man!
chillax
every coin has been copied on bitcoin , so that doesn't needs to be stated , ust enoy your GB coins , cos they are the best Cheesy

Do you have zero reading comprehension skills or something?  The person I was responding to didn't understand what a fork was and I was explaining it to them, plus giving a bit of background as an example.

What is the better investment Crypti or Vericoin?

Always check the all time charts for a coin and what's going on in the ANN thread.  It looks like Vericoin was pumped to an all time high of 50k end of June and has dropped steadily to it's current level since then.  That's usually a very bad sign.  I set myself a watch price of 8k at which time I was going to go back and have a look at it and see how the dev was doing etc. Looks like it's almost at that point now.  lol

This coin is completely new so hasn't been pumped or anything yet. Frankly, since it opened up on the exchange, the price has fluctuating up and down but mostly stayed around the 2k level so it's pretty cheap to get in on with lots of potential up side.

Quick note about the price.  It's the end of the month and a long weekend for some countries.  Price will most likely drop as people dump to pay their rent and their party weekend.  It's a common trend for a lot of coins for a bit of a sell off at the end of the month.

Reading the past couple of pages of this thread has been a breath of fresh air in this FUD-SEWER of a forum...   thnx!   Smiley

I think part of the reason for that is because no one really knows about the coin. Hell, I've been following the thread for awhile and I have no freakin idea of the true status of the coin in terms of development.  It could really use a vocal project/product manager.

But don't worry.  I'm sure at some point the trolls and fudders will start to show up once they start to think this coin could threaten whatever coin they're holding. lol

Who can tell me WHY?

Those that play with crypto in order to pay their bills tend to dump at the end of the month. And with it being a party time before school starts long weekend, I think there will be some additional dumping in lots of coins. Should be a good weekend to pick up a variety of coins. I also personally believe a lot of coins will start going back up in the next few weeks as people will be back from vacations etc.

Rule No. 1 go all in with a good coin (take a loan, ask friends for btc)
...

Hum, hum... are you serious ? It's the worst advice I've ever seen.

Don't do that guys, it's the perfect way to be a weak hand: you'll cry and shit in your pants on every price drop... for finally dumping your coin with a big loss.

Yeah. That's exactly what he did, took out a 16k loan to "invest" in crypto without knowing what the hell he was doing.  Thus, he lost money and has now been crying in the thread.

FUD To Do List
"Cloak is Dead"
"Cloakcoin will drop to 10k"
"Devs Left"
"Alty's announcement won't happen"
"Cloak will never reach 40k"

"Cloak will never reach 100k"
"Cloak will never reach 200k"
"Cloak will never reach 300k"

 Wink

Cloak was in the 20s when the list was made and Cloak was > 40k earlier so I fixed the list for you.

Sorry to interrupt all the misery - don't worry I'm feeling it too  Tongue

But I've been trying to figure out what FRAC's main problem was.

I'm thinking now that the 1 month core PoW phase in which the majority of the coins were produced was way too short.

Once we switched over to slingshield (which otherwise went brilliantly), there were no new coins coming in.

Investors had bought up all the supply and so nobody was able to trade, and that has effectively killed everything.

So I would suggest the only real way to get the coin back on track would be to increase the coin cap to something like 10 mil, mined over the next year.

Any thoughts? .. other than "ded"  Roll Eyes

I tend to agree with you but would make it something like more 9M more coins with a reward scaled over something like 20 years.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ALERT! SOME WILL BE A SHOCK! USECOIN! BURSTCOIN! CRYPTI! on: August 25, 2014, 03:58:11 AM
his involvement in the project even giving code is all the evidence you need it's a scam.

Where exactly did he "give code"?  When there were delays in Crypti he complained a bit.  When the Bter thing happened, he did a little FUD.  He has problems running his node, problems getting transfers during the mainnet launch.  No one that's part of a scam is going to be posting that sort of stuff.

Perhaps you should be transparent and post that you tried to extort BTC from him to not start this sort of thread.

And where's your "proof"?

Network can receive only one forging request from each IP, so it's not effective to forge with multi accounts from one server.

ah, expected it to be possible if the clients were running on different ports. is it possible if the client are running on the same machine, but on different proxy servers?

The issue will be multiple clients reading/writing to the block chain, indexes etc at the same time.  Unless they specifically wrote the code to handle that (which very few people would do without having that as a requirement in the first place), you could end up with corruption.

Dev please consider paying 1BTC to get coin onto Bittrex... need more volume on this coin..

Please don't.  Bittrex is shitcoin and pump and dump haven.  Not to mention that Bittrex removes coins constantly that don't have "enough" volume.  Between Bter, Cryptsy and Poli, this coin is perfectly fine in terms of exchanges. Only other one that could be good would maybe be Mintpal.

yeah I don't see the reason for Bittrex either. I'd like Mintpal and HITBTC if anything, we attract a more serious crowd..

Bittrex are all about PnDs, adding shady ICOs and most of all - cater to pumpers. And these people don't have the volume they talk up either. And if they buy XCR, they want to sell it 2 hours later. I don't see why these people are potential "investors" or will actually contribute to the community other than be toxic if the price isn't right for them.

I find myself liking BTER much more nowadays. That being said, more exchanges certainly don't hurt if anybody wants to trade there they should be able to! Thnx

Definitely HitBTC, the problem is though that they take eons to add coins to their exchange.

They seem to be very picky as well.  There are a number of older coins I'm surprised aren't on there and they've only just added NXT.

Mintpal used to be worse for pump/dump... until they had their own security issues. A lot of the pump/dump stuff on MP was due to their voting system too. Dead coins would get voted in, have one last day in the sun, then collapse into nothingness. I think most of the pump/dump groups have migrated to bittrex, as they tend to get pretty much any new coin.

Although of course it can happen with any exchange. Cryptsy was a good 'get', as they can sometimes be pickier than other exchanges as far as new coins go.

Just looking at one of the pump and dumpers "results" that are public.  One was on Mintpal, 2 on Cryptsy and then 2 more on Bittrex.  The one today is to be on Bittrex.  Not to mention almost all the scam coins get put on Bittrex.

Cryptsy was definitely a good one although I don't really like their platform all that much.  Isn't it pretty much the top exchange for alt coins in terms of volume?  i.e. of exchanges that actually have a considerable number of alts.

do you think guys crypti price will rise over 3000sat?

Think it hit around 3500 or so on Bter the other day. Cryptsy has been weird and there was some activity around 3500, not to mention a few hundred coins at 7500 I think. But once things get rolling things will stabilize between the exchanges at some level, most likely closer to Bter.  Unless of course some whales get on board via cryptsy which could drive the price up everywhere.
1179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cinni | PoS | First Coin With Private Encrypted Messaging | No premine on: August 24, 2014, 03:35:15 PM
That saddest thing to me about all this is the idea that here we've been blessed with the closest thing left in this world to a true, free market - one of the few places left in the world where a truly free market still operates without the interference of corrupt politicians, dictators, bureaucrats, corporations, lobbyists, elites and influence peddlers, and it's been so often and so widely abused.

Crypto was supposed to be a demonstration that top-down regulation wasn't needed, that people are better off with free markets without centralised government interference/influence/corruption. Absent some serious changes/innovation, that experiment is clearly failing, and I'm not just talking about CINNI (see sys, clstr, intellicoin, usecoin, etc - the casualty list goes on and on and on).

Can free human beings interact with one another and regulate themselves in a way that better ensures the mutual prosperity of the community, without the heavy, corrupt hand of centralised, governement regulation that ruins everything and suffocates innovation and growth? That remains to be seen. Here's hoping - for all of our sakes.

Take all of these "corrupt politicians, dictators, bureaucrats, corporations, lobbyists, elites and influence peddlers" and now look at everyone in crypto and you'll be able to replace pretty much all of them with certain players in crypto whether it's devs, pump-n-dumpers or whatever.

Left to their own devices, humans are fundamentally corrupt.  Welcome to the reality of it all.

So what happened with that coin?  dev still seems to be active.  Did the IPO guys (buy-n-dump when it hits exchange) dump on everyone to get their quick profits and now everyone thinks it's a scam?

Why don't you check my thread?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=754138.0

I did.  But I asked what actually happened with the coin and your thread it just conspiracy theories with no actual proof of a scam that I could find.

wait until the dev runs off with 350 btc? We should protect the fund ahead

He very well could.  But that's the risk you take.  You're free to make your own choices without any government or regulatory body dictating what crypto you can and cannot put your money into.  Free market and all that ya know.  You can't have it both ways.

PPL lost because they bought the coins

People lose because they're greedy and think they're trying to become millionaires over night. The scamers don't force anyone to buy the ICO. They don't force miners to mine, and they certainly don't force anyone to buy the coins as soon as they hit an exchange. All of those things have to occur before anyone gets ripped off.  It's called taking responsibility for your own actions and not buying into the scams in the first place if you're not prepared to lose your money.  I haven't been scamed in crypto but I have been in other things.  I knew what I was doing and didn't cry about it afterwards.  It was my choice.  My freedom and I wouldn't want someone else to "save" me from myself quite frankly.
