Neat!
I followed, even though I prefer paper wallets I will check it out.
Thanks
2142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto is a time traveler on: September 26, 2014, 09:53:47 PM
Anyone think that perhaps Satoshi passed away either naturally or by accident and that's why we haven't heard from him since?

Maybe he had a sort of Walter White experience and was given a few years left to live but instead of wanting to make a meth empire he wanted to create something truly amazing.

No one knew who he really was, so it could be possible that he was driving somewhere one day and was killed in a car crash, thus sealing his secret identity.

If he is dead, perhaps one day after an estate sale an archivist will be going through some old hard drives and find rough drafts of the white paper or even the stash of his mined coins.

I'd suggest doing all calculations server side.

When you say doing it server side do you mean do it in php? How do I get the calculations to the server without using POST? Sorry for the newb questions, I'm just starting to get into php and javascript.
2144  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What do you guys think? on: September 24, 2014, 10:58:52 PM
I used Charles Web proxy to set a breakpoint and modify your your post vars.  I'll be glad to refund the tips as well. It was fun though.

No, please keep the tip Smiley  Are there any resources you could point me to that will show me how to prevent this sort of attack?

2145  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What do you guys think? on: September 24, 2014, 09:30:29 PM
Point to ponder: the game comes without the BS waiting time of other faucets. Now time paces by with you so engaged, clicking ALL the time and probably missing what any other faucet might have given you by then.  Grin

Seriously, the game is good and shows you that there's no free lunch. Even to teach kids both about both probability and bitcoin (yet kids would only get it if they could easily buy popsicles with bitcoin). Or, to help gambling addicts recover. After a few clickety-clicks.

And, yes, it might be more attractive (even if odds of getting to 700 were the same or _slightly_ better) if you granted the first 200 or 350 satoshi and user might preserve those few even if he she lost whatever he added afterwards... under special circumstances.  What circumstances? Well, I don't know, I guess the game could be a little more intrincate, allowing for special bonus and "not-all-or-nothing" situations.
[ Mario and Luigi not dieing but only becoming smaller comes to mind ]

That being said, I did my first 700. Thanks for sharing the game.

S.

Thanks Samperio,
I really like your ideas, with granting a few hundred satoshi upfront, and adding additional circumstances instead of always being all or nothing. I will start to implement these ideas but first it looks like I need to work on security
2146  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What do you guys think? on: September 24, 2014, 09:09:14 PM
Thanks for the input, looks like someone already hacked it and was able to enter their own high score.

If it was someone here can you let me know how you did it? Was it a $_POST exploit or JS exploit?

UPDATE: 9/27/14 - http://btcthreads.com/easyDice

Here's the rebuilt version doing all the scoring server side and some string sanitation.

I had a BTC domain I wasn't using so I made this.

btcthreads.com  (yea the site was going to be a bitcoin forum, LOL but that ended pretty quickly considering this site and reddit.)

You can play and top up your changetip account. It's pretty much a faucet, but without all the BS waiting times that come with faucets.  You can cashout almost instantly.

It takes a little patience and persistence. Don't get discouraged after your first few tries, I'm able to hit the cashout limit pretty consistently in just a few minutes.

OBJECT of the game is to pick a number less than what the computer picks. Low #'s are safer but low payout, higher #'s are riskier but bigger payout.

I posted this here instead of services because I'm still in the testing stages and looking for input.

Oh and BTW to all the hackers out there there are no coins are stored on the server.

2150  Economy / Speculation / Re: GABI to start trading on 9/1 on: August 27, 2014, 08:45:36 PM
OK.. so on the front of pure unsubstantiated speculation....

1) buy OTC, sell on market to drive price down, setting artificially low "opening price"
2) "open fund"
3) buy on market for 30 days driving the price up
4) produce slick marketing campaign:  " GABI UP 50% IN FIRST MONTH !!!! "
5) open fund for trading
6) profit.

I would not be surprised if this happens
2151  Economy / Speculation / Re: 4th Bitcoin buble on: August 26, 2014, 02:21:10 AM
Well this is thread in which to call it

so my prediction (similar to those above):

next top $5k ± $2k

correcting to $3k ± $1.5 k

EDIT: To address OPs question:

From a system analysis perspective (control theory)

The volatility I think is caused because the system is running at high gain and is not damped, so large oscillations in the groupthink of all users happens.

Anyone who understands what money is and what bitcoin is are lucky enough to be early adopters during these still early days.

$1 Million by 2018! Woo hoo!
2152  Economy / Speculation / Re: 4th Bitcoin buble on: August 26, 2014, 01:49:47 AM
I think we are very close to the start of a new bubble but $10000 is too high, probably the new ATH will be in the 4000-6000$ range.

I also think we are close to a bubble, i also think around 10 times more than current value, it means 500$*10=5000$

Yep, also thinking the same, next bubble will take us around $5K
2153  Economy / Economics / Re: When will the USA pay their debts, if ever? on: August 24, 2014, 11:40:58 PM
USA can pay any debt. make more research but here is a hint:

Exactly. The US can purposely devalue the dollar where $1,000,000 will only be worth $1 today. Pay off $15 trillion in debt by inflating the currency.

Thanks for posting the list. There were a few people I just learned about and have never heard of before.
2155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase resumes buying bitcoins today? on: August 22, 2014, 06:32:12 PM
Just want to point out I had no problem buying at 475 the day coinbase told a bunch of people to go screw, but then again I've been on their buyer white list since last September( they tried pulling that crap once and I flipped out on their tech support haha) and I was only ordering one coin so that could also be why.

Same here I had no issue buying from coinbase when it dipped to $445 on the 18th. Coins were available just a few days later.

2156  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: www.lunamine.com - 0.0025 BTC/GHs mining contracts | On-demand withdrawals on: August 22, 2014, 05:13:48 PM
Okay, it seems now that Lunamine is part of a bigger scam.

Not only we don't know whether it is a scam or not, but now you are imagining a "bigger scam".
This is speculation on top of speculation.
This is not the right way to investigate.

For all we know, the operator might still be in the process of recovering from the loss of personal information at the moment.
We simply don't know.

The fact that the wallet has not been emptied yet may be a good sign, as the operator may still be in possession of the wallet private key.

My own chain of speculations, partly based on facts, is the following :

I investigated a bit on the off-side, it appears the operator's account still exists on the shared server he was using for the web site.
That server contained (past tense) both the web site and the mail server, and was (and still is) poorly protected.

Putting all one's eggs in a single basket is a big mistake : once the web site account had been cracked, all the attacker had to do was to change the password and authenticate when a DNS transfer email verification became necessary, thus robbing the legitimate owner of the domain name property.

From that, the allusions made by user lunamine to an attack and to blackmail, as well as the impossibility to log into this forum ever since, since the email address used was most probably something@lunamine.com, can easily be conceived.

I'd really like the Lunamine operator to resurface, even under another account if access to the current one has become impossible, to clear things up.

Up until now, though, I still can't honestly come to the conclusion that it is a scam. As far as I know, the hypothesis of an attack resulting in at the very minimum blackmail over the site or even the customer database is a solid possibilty.

What is more unclear is whether the operator could salvage the customer data or it was definitely lost, a tragic event which his silence would be a symptom of.

Wow now that's quite a stretch.... It's clearly a scam, there is no assumption. It's pretty clear to most that this is criminal.
2157  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to Grow BTC Without take a BIG RISK ? on: August 12, 2014, 06:49:38 PM
We are currently working on such a service where you can earn small rewards with very little risk. We don't plan on launching until the end of the year though.

And with what do you guys earn the rewards you payout?

Premiums received from sales, interest earned from loans (US only) and advertisements.

The problem we see now is most services that claim to offer dividends appear to be scams or ponzi schemes. We are working a provable system where an investor can watch their coins for the entire term (2 to 6 weeks) to verify none of their coins have been used or re-invested elsewhere.

We are still in the development, legal, doc and trademark filing stages.

I don't want to spam, but you can find out more by finding a link within our profile.

Cool idea! We've got our own marketing plan going for a bitcoin start up in California.
Have you tried any other layouts to make them more eye catching?
