1701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average Age for Bitcoin/Crypto currency users on: February 26, 2015, 05:29:59 PM
I've read that the most typical BTC holder is white male, early 30's.

1702  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info Callback usage? on: February 25, 2015, 02:02:14 PM
Create a callback page, there are blueprints for a PHP callback file on blockchains API reference. It's pretty straight forward.
Once you have created that page and added it to your server goto your "account settings" on blockchain.info and enter in the URL of your call back page.
1703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: XBT on BATS BZX Exchange? on: February 24, 2015, 01:53:46 PM
Any ideas?
I still can't find anything about bitcoin being listed on BATS, except the CNN price ticker.
If it were to happen that would be huge and would blow the winkies ETF out of the water with 10%+ of the daily equities trading in the US.
1704  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: offering bounty for copy of gambling site on: February 24, 2015, 05:37:34 AM
I can edit it. I just canīt build it.

Hack n' paster, huh? You'll likely have a very hard time editing and customizing unless the developer comments out every line explaining what they're doing and how to edit it.

I want to use coinpayments, or blockchain.

If you're going to be creating addresses with blockchain.info's wallet management API be aware that it maxes out at 1,000 addresses.

I looked at the website, and I don't 100% understand what that site is about. Looks kinda scammy.
Good luck!

What is to happen on the 25th?

I assume this:

Tokyo District Court: Mt Gox Claims Will Not Be Investigated Until Feb 25th 2015.

For those not willing to DL

3 text files, mysql exports...

1 is a count of total users or addresses? 4.5 million

Code:
mysql> select count(*) from platform.Money_Bitcoin_Permanent_Address;
+----------+
| count(*) |
+----------+
|  4512211 |
+----------+
1 row in set (7.46 sec)

mysql> select * from platform.Money_Bitcoin_Permanent_Address;
ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query

Other is a 25MB CSV of the users table, listing user ID, censored email addresses and their BTC balance.

The last is the 308 table names stored on the DB.
1709  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to Create a Bitcoin Receive Address from a Coin Flip on: February 23, 2015, 04:36:35 PM
Certainly there is, and being more secure it's also much, much more simple. Just let the Bitcoin-QT client create private keys for you. You have to do zero work, and you are using state-of-the-art. peer reviewed cryptography, based on the reliable RNG.

I think there's a certain novelty type of satisfaction from being able to create your key with a pair of dice or other physical randomness. Bitcoin is so intangible there's something cool about being able to make a part of it your own. Then you get to converting your random string to a public address and the EDSCA curve part and it's all back to the digital world Smiley
1710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / XBT on BATS BZX Exchange? on: February 23, 2015, 03:53:57 PM
So we've all seen that bitcoin is now listed on CNN money markets. http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=XBT

It indicates that the price is from BATS BZX Real-Time Price. BATS operates the BZX and BYX Exchanges and accounts for about 10-12% of all US equity trading, per wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BATS_Global_Markets).

If this is the case, any ideas why I can not locate Bitcoin (XBT) on BATS Exchange website? http://www.batstrading.com/

1711  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: February 22, 2015, 05:37:03 AM
I think the bitcoin price will rise to 10'000 dollars when the block reward will be < 1 BTC, so as write here :

in that moment I think (& hope) we will see 8-10 k dollars per bitcoin.

Source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Controlled_supply#Projected_Bitcoins_Long_Term

That's crazy to think about. In just 10 years or so the block reward will only be 3 BTC.
1712  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 22, 2015, 04:04:14 AM
I see this as a calm before the "storm" that I guess march (and maybe april) is gonna be. It's gonna be fun seeing what happens.
Edit: and the price is creeping upwards! Hooray!

60k Bitcoins moved - 26 Million days destroyed. Never seen so many days destroyed in one block before.

6 Blocks ago

--->

Biggest transaction in it:
26 166 coins destroyed all the days... ...... (26 531 045 Days/ 26 166 coins) = 1 014 days not moved. So almost 3 years not moved.

any way to find out if they hit an exchange or where they went to?

Followed the chain tree a bit back. Looks like some coins where originaly mined in 2010/2011 and have moved several times until they ended up on the Cold Store Address some when in 2012.

1714  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 20, 2015, 06:40:38 PM
do you guys think a rise to above $500 is possibble this year?

I absolutely believe it's possible, even much higher. HOWEVER I would not bet on it. Almost anything is possible with price of BTC. All you need is demand and new money for the price to rise. With coinbase's new exchange and the expected launch of Gemini, regulated exchanges could attract new money from deeper pockets of those who may have been skeptical about the existing exchanges.

Don't we have enough faucets covered with ads?   Wink
Seriously though, Wordpress is notoriously vulnerable against attacks.
Do NOT try to run something with value like a wallet through Wordpress or you're going to have a bad time.
1719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it wrong to suggest most people should own just 1 or .5 btc... on: February 19, 2015, 08:50:01 PM
It isn't wrong, that's the whole point.

Everyone should have a choice if that want to own, use, or invest in a new technology that could either be ground-breaking or just another idea that's brilliant in theory.

Whether it's the next Zune or Ipod, whether it's the next Atari Jaguar or the Sony Playstation, whether it's the next Myspace or Facebook, the masses will ultimately decide if it's worthwhile.

I have the Zune HD  Cheesy
