UPDATE

This raffle will end on Monday January 5th no matter how many tickets are sold someone is winning this piece. Even if the raffle is only between the two guys who have bought tickets so far. If we do not sell all 20 tickets then we will not be able to make the charity donation so please get your tickets soon. It appears that not many people visit the gambling thread and after this topic got moved here it stopped even getting viewed

I would not be the person to ask about that. its my own stupid fault. When you send a PM there is a warning at the bottom that says that the messages are not secure or encrypted. I am getting PGP set up to use from now on.

That is a very good idea.
The PGP key can also be used to retrieve your account if it should be hacked, it seams like you are an obvious target.

Feel free to send me an encrypted message if you need to make a few test Smiley

My PGP finger print is in my signature.

Thanks TookDk, i will be taking you up on that offer here soon. I am just deciding which software to get as there seems to be dozens of them and not much info about any of them.

@Woodcollector You should consider start using PGP, I personally use kleopatra, it is very easy to use. You can very easy create encrypted messages and signed messages.
Then will you not run into the same problem again. The only "problem" is that the person you send a message to of cause also need to use PGP.

A million thanks, i am actually looking into that right now. Just glad i was online before too much info got leaked, it wouldn't have been fair to a lot of people if others knew prior to the surprise.

I love surprises, this is interesting:) But sucks that someone hacked your PM's.

Is everyone else's information still secure WoodCollector?

Interesting Smiley

What was that all about?

Nothing to worry about Pistachio, has nothing to do with the coins you or anyone else purchased...... Yet.

Somehow i think my PM's got hacked and someone found out about a secret a month or two before it is suppose to be known.

You are very much involved in the surprise, but not right now. Thats all i can really say. Sorry! You'll thank me later.

I congratulate you, these are astonishing.  How long does this take to make?

Right now about 2-3 months to get one done if you order one today, i have a few i am working on for clients now that have a very high level of detail involved so they are going to take a while to carve. I am only making 10 coins for the 2015 year and coins 1-8 are already spoken for so once 2 more people commission a coin, i will be making no more this year.

Depends on what kind of wood, and if they are charging you by the pound for your luggage. There are some woods that would be very profitable for you to bring back if you got them at a reasonable enough price. Others it would take a truck load to be worth while.

You can always message me when you are there and let me know what you found and i can tell you if its worth it. I assume you live in the USA and you would be bringing it back here not shipping it from somewhere to the USA correct? Shipping a single piece of wood from anywhere outside the USA to me is seldom worth while.

I'm in Europe, I'm afraid.
I suppose it would make more sense to ship the wood from the country of origin directly to you. That way I could send more than one piece also.

Correct, most countries you will need a fumigation certificate to ship it to the USA, also some woods you will need to get a copy of the Forestry Permit if it is required for a particular species of wood.

Do you think it would be viable to bring wood home from vacation overseas?
I'm not good with imperial units but if I have converted it correctly, the length of the logs should be around 60cm, correct?
60cm fits in a suitcase. But I suspect you are looking for larger quantities right? Not just one log.

Been traveling to Asia and Africa but never thought wood had any value.

Raffle

I have had a lot of people request a raffle for an item for those who like to gamble and dont have a lot of money to spend on one of my art pieces, being the holiday season and things being slow i figured this piece would make the perfect item to raffle off.

I am selling 20 raffle tickets to win "Claire" the Waterfall Water Pipe. The winner will be responsible for paying shipping to their destination. The winner also gets to choose from the 3 bowls i have on hand at the moment which one they want with the piece.

The drawing will be held once all 20 tickets are sold and the winner will be selected using random.org to pick the number.

Due to the busy holiday season, please post the number of tickets you wish to purchase and the #/#'s of the ticket you wish to purchase as well. I will message you directly with a payment address for your tickets. Although i will be online at least a few hours a day, i cannot sit behind a computer all day over the Christmas holiday, i will send you a message as soon as i am online.

Tickets will be reserved on a first come first serve basis, please check the posts above yours to see if the # you want has been taken already, i will update the list in the OP at least once a day.

50% of the proceeds from this raffle will be donated to the FEED THE CHILDREN campaign sponsored by Dabs
