Yeah, it sure seems that you'll have to get some sleep first and then redact your OP for brevity. When I was setting up my Tor service, I simply followed the official steps on torproject.org - it is as simple as it gets, especially for someone like you who understands IT.

I dont neccisarily understand IT, i just know how to use some CMS's and interfaces like Cpanel. I was contacted by someone who will help me get it all set up now. Now i am just in need of finding the CEH's to test the hell out of it once it is done.

Thanks guys, i appreciate it.
343  Bitcoin / Project Development / TOR website to setup a shop that takes bitcoin? on: December 06, 2014, 01:03:07 AM
Evening all, (morning to some)

With the recent demand for my Bitcoin art pieces and Bitcoin art carved "Water Pipes" and after some discussion with some of the senior forum members. I have decided ( with influence from my lawyer ) that i would like to put together a website, Hide it behind TOR for clients security as well as my own, and process bitcoin payments. Selling "water pipes" online is a grey area in some states, and i just want the piece of mind of sleeping better at night.

I am well versed in most CMS's (Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla, Etc.) and have a bit of experience with Hosting accounts, Cpanel, and PHP / CSS. I could put together a generic website on a hosting account in a few weeks time if i needed to but that is not what i am after.

First, i know nothing about TOR other than it keeps me safe when i use the TOR browser on my computers, i wouldnt even know where to start in setting up a TOR server and how to make it fully hidden, Further i have no idea what OS, plugins, etc i would need to make this all work.

I already have a Static IP, I have a new server with dual AMD 8 core processors and 16 gig of ram with over 6 TB of storage space. A used server with a quad core processor, 4 gb of ram and 1TB storage space. and a third used server that just needs a hard drive. I also have a network switch and box full of routers.

What i would like to know;

How insane is it to get a TOR server set up that you can hide a website / website owner / server location. What would be a fair price to pay someone to have them help with the setup and configuration. Are there CMS's which just are not TOR safe? and do any of you have recommendations on someone from this community who has a lot of experience in this area that would be a good place to start on this project. Also does anyone know any CEH's that would be reasonable with their fee after it is set up to bomb the heck out of the site once it is up to test all of its security and anonymity features?

I would like to start moving forward on this project soon and need a little guidance and some services from those of you guys who are well versed in this area.

Thanks!

P.S. sorry if the above appears as a blur of words that makes it look like i was drunk when i typed it. I have been in the studio for 35 hours almost straight except food and bathroom breaks and am at that state of sleep deprivation where i keep hearing goats outside that are not there. I promise i will re-read and fix it all tomorrow after i have slept.

I live in Hawaii. What kinds of wood are you looking for and the price?

Yes, Koa, Mangowood, Amboyna. ALWAYS

Need anything from the north?  (Ontario)

Maybe, do you have access to redwoods up there? There are not many in your area but they are there, and if you can get some i would be interested.

Are you using escrow?

I was just going to send it directly. Why, is there a reason to be concerned? If this is a scam, it is a pretty elaborate scam. I am only waiting on some mining share payments to come in so I can send the full amount at once.

I would always use an escrow. Not that big of a hassle and it could save you a lot, in the event that the deal goes badly. Better safe than sorry.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0

I have never denied escrow if requested, but also never had anyone request, i have had dozens of transactions and never an issue, some of them VERY large, in excess of 30BTC for art pieces. You are correct about better safe then sorry, and normally i apply that rule myself, but i tend to exclude "the good 'ole boys" club from that as it is easy to see with little effort who is here to stay and honest and cares about their reputation and who is likely to rip you off.

If you would like to use escrow i am fully ok with it so long as its with a trusted member of "the good 'ole boys club" (John K, Blazedout, OGNasty, etc) and you pay the fee if you feel its necessary.

Ok, i wasnt aware of the IP posting limits restricting posts on auctions, i guess for the next one i will have to post that if there is a bid within the last 5 minutes it will extend the auction by 5 minutes.

Pistachio was in before the end of 12:00 and won Mazuma, but Iron Marvel and ukcrypto go ahead and message me and i think i have a solution that will make you both very happy at the price point of your last bids.

Pistachio - Congrats....and be careful someone tried to scam me just now sending a PM pretending to be Woodcollector using a variation of his name!

Can you link me his profile so i can mark his trust rating negative please. Also if you wouldnt mind leave negative feedback on his profile as well so he does not rip off any of my clients in the future.

How long do you think it will take to carve a QR code and BTC address on the back?

And, can you include (or recommend where to buy) a table top stand?

I can carve the QR code and Address on the back for the extra .25 BTC over the weekend and have it shipped first thing Monday.

Best deal on a table stand can be found HERE. I normally have a bunch of THESE in stock but my last two went out with some Bitcoin art pieces that just shipped about an hour ago. Their $13 each and the acrylic is nice as it is transparent and does not distract from the piece.

358  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ideas for Bitcoin art piece to go on world exhibition. on: December 05, 2014, 03:03:45 AM
maybe the texture of the wood itself could be used for the privkey?
it is unique for every wood, but i dont know how to convert that deterministically to a number.

most physical coins needs to be destroyed when using the btc. i dont think this is a good idea for your work - they are just to nice Wink

do you have the possibility to craft a nice looking and working lock out of wood? the key and the lock could be the art piece; and inside their is just an ordinary qr code of a MN multisig wallet (means: you still need another key to spent funds.)

maybe building a new case for a trezor would work? imho this would not work for a real artwork - t least for me

^ just a few thought; i will follow your work Wink

I can carve in hidden compartments that you wouldn't need a lock and key for as you would have to look under a magnifier glass to find the button to push to open the compartment. I can also carve in lock and key mechanisms. I think the Bitcoin stored in the piece would probably remain with the piece forever. Unless i decided to sell the piece after the exhibit and the new owner redeemed the coins. I dont think an trezor case would fit the bill for this exhibit. The average value of each art piece is between $500,000 and $1 million dollars. So what i am creating will fall somewhere in that range as well.
359  Bitcoin / Project Development / Ideas for Bitcoin art piece to go on world exhibition. on: December 05, 2014, 02:14:06 AM
Hello to all,

Many of you here know that i am a luxury artist that works with exotic wood as a medium and am new to Bitcoin. I was asked last week by a major art exhibition firm to submit a piece that could go on their "Facultas" tour. The Facultas tour is a traveling exhibit of art pieces that will make 29 stops in 9 months spanning every continent on the planet. The Exhibition starts in March of 2015.

Facultas is a representation of Power, Means, Capacity and Ability. It is a Latin word which is often used to define the wealthy or those with above average financial means and every piece in the exhibit is to portray this.

Although i am new to the Bitcoin scene, i feel that a Bitcoin art piece would be perfect for this exhibit as Bitcoin in and of itself portrays a lot of these same characteristics.

What i am looking for from the community is some input and ideas on what kind of Bitcoin piece i should create. I think it should be something both artistic, and functional. I would like to somehow incorporate a Bitcoin address with hidden private key (kind of like a physical coin) into the piece so the piece actually holds value, turning the phrase "holding value" into a literal sense on the piece. But beyond that i would like input from this community as i really want it to portray Bitcoin in every aspect. As far as i know to date, this will be the first time in history that a Bitcoin art work makes a mark on art history on this scale as it will be traveling and exhibited with over $500 million dollars worth of art and viewed by some of the wealthiest people in the world. I think this is a great opportunity to let Bitcoin make a mark on the upscale community and bring it into their world as art but spark their interests in it as a financial tool.

Please comment with your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations below, A piece of this magnitude will take a lot of time to complete and i need to get the basic concept together soon so i can start and have it done by February 21st 2015.

Thanks to all !!
