381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: zcash, pirate chain, monero, prcy, which is the best coin for future of privacy? on: January 24, 2024, 11:27:04 AM
Monero is the synonym for privacy. It's the most used coin in darkweb. Other alternatives are not actually in use and some like zcash has documented vulnerabilities. I have no idea about what new techs are cooking on the privacy sector but monero has been a leader for quite some years and would continue to be in foreseeable future.
Privacy based coins might not be the ideal thing for normal investors or traders to deal with. As it would get more difficult to redeem then in and out in the future.

Zcash is funded by a private company (Electric Coin Company), so I doubt the dev team will prioritize privacy above all else. Not like Monero which is funded and developed by the community itself. It's like comparing Windows vs Linux. With so much propaganda against mixers and privacy coins, I doubt people will turn to any of the aformentioned cryptocurrencies anytime soon.

The industry is dominated by VCs and institutional investors. They want transparency to comply with government regulations as much as possible. Not the other way around. For this and many other reasons, privacy coins will never take off no matter what new features they bring to the space. At least, we're not tied to a single coin. As long as we have a choice, nothing else matters. Smiley
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Chances for approving a spot Ethereum ETF? on: January 24, 2024, 11:23:08 AM
Bitcoin went with tons of ETF applications years ago and the successful approval of it that happened recently has a backbone. If it is with the ETH ETF, IMO the chance is like 40/60. 40% chance of getting approved and 60% chance of being not.
40% in a sense that Bitcoin has been approved and that can influence the decision, 60% of being declined due to probably many setbacks and factors that will be figured out by SEC if these are like the first few applications.

SEC chairman Gary Gensler used to call Ethereum a "security". I wonder if that will change now that Bitcoin spot ETFs were approved last week? Everything will depend on how the ETH network is structured. If it stays centralized, it'll be classified as a "security". Otherwise, it would be classified as a "commodity".

I doubt Gary's stance towards ETH will change  especially when the cryptocurrency has a PoS mechanism. It's largely controlled by whales and big exchanges like Binance and Coinbase. We'll see what happens in the long run. Rest assured that if ETH spot ETFs are approved, market prices will rise like crazy. At least, in the long term. Short-term speaking, prices will continue to decline at a fast pace (like what's happening now). No one can predict the future, so lets hope for the best. Wink
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the best ETH L2 network? on: January 24, 2024, 11:20:16 AM
For me, I will go with the highest TVL layer  2 network chain, which is the Arbitrum.

I am also actively using Arbitrum, that's why I chose it. I am using it therefore I am satisfied and able to achieve what I want to happen.
Although, there are already lot of layer 2 networks right now which most of the platform support especially DeFi, I still choose Arbitrum.

Competiton is getting tougher each day between the most popular ETH-based L2 networks. I'm talking about both Arbitrum and Optimism. The former has the highest TVL, but that could change in the future. Especially now that Optimism started to gain traction with the inception of Coinbase's Base network. Between zk-Rollups and Optimistic Rollups, I'm yet to see which tech is best.

Exciting times ahead for ETH. With Danksharding on the way, on-chain fees should become lower over time. One would've hoped BTC would get as many L2 networks as ETH. At least, the competition is healthy. Cheesy

Define best? Best in terms of what?

If we're talking about ecosystem size though, definitely Arbitrum and Optimism. Polygon should be #1 in terms of ecosystem size, but I don't think it's technically an L2 yet. It's currently more of a pseudo L2.

Check this out: https://defillama.com/chains

Best in terms of the largest ecosystem of dApps, tokens, and/or services. I've once thought Polygon was a sidechain instead of an L2 network. Same for Polkadot. I wonder if many of the networks we see today, will die in the long run? Grin
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Could XRP Ledger replace SWIFT in the future? on: January 22, 2024, 08:39:45 PM
XRP's features make it the ideal system to power all (or most) of the world's Fiat currencies. Banks can make use of the XRP Ledger for money transfers at a fraction of the cost. Since it's centralized, there's a high chance governments around the world will launch their own CBDCs on the platform.

If XRP replaces SWIFT, how high will it go? Will it surpass ETH's market cap at least?

I'd like to know your thoughts. Thanks. Smiley
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which is the best ETH L2 network? on: January 22, 2024, 08:22:02 PM
I've seen many Layer-Two networks built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. From Arbitrum to Optimism and zkSync, there's an alternative for everyone. The most recent one is the Base network.

I'm wondering which L2 network is best? Or which one has the biggest ecosystem of dApps?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Chances for approving a spot Ethereum ETF? on: January 22, 2024, 08:00:13 PM
What are the odds for the SEC to approve a spot ETF for Ethereum by May? Gary Gensler used to say ETH is a security back then, but things could change now that Bitcoin spot ETFs were recently approved by the regulating entity. Market prices for ETH have been going down lately after BTC's downfall to $41k. So I'm wondering, is now the time to buy more ETH or should I wait for another dip?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: zcash, pirate chain, monero, prcy, which is the best coin for future of privacy? on: January 22, 2024, 07:56:28 PM
The best will come from programmable privacy. Look at some projects that are being developed: Blacknet, Aleo, DarkFi.

What about the Secret Network? Doesn't that count as programmable privacy? It's good that we have such projects, but they're still the minority compared to the rest of the pack. Most developers are afraid of building privacy projects out of fear from the governments. That makes me wonder whenever programmable privacy will have a future at all? Grin

Modern zk-SNARKs, like their Halo2, don't rely on the trusted setup.

Funny thing is that ZK-STARKS also promised to remove the issue of a trusted setup. Yet, for some reason, developers chose another path with the introduction of Halo2. Even if they finally removed the trusted setup, Zcash still hasn't "shielded" coins held on t-addresses. These are usable on-chain, despite the fact that the ZEC protocol started enforcing shielded transactions by default.

I've seen some exchanges requiring users to deposit with a T-address instead of a Shielded address. The purpose of privacy is ultimately defeated by doing this. That's why no other privacy coin can beat Monero. With regulations getting stricter each day, I doubt the competition will survive in the long run. Cheesy
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the possibility of discovering a memecoin that could change your life? on: January 22, 2024, 07:51:45 PM
Why there needs to be another meme coin that needs to change your life. There are countless project in the market that can outperform every crypto in the market in the upcoming altseason. We have seen this before that in every cycle some project outperform every other project in the market. In the last season we have seen sol, luna make massive pump and there are good project in terms of technology and adoption. Meme project can only pump if a whale wants to play with its price and in most cases you will be late till you identify that game.

With so many "meme" coins trading on the market, your chances of getting lucky will be slim. It's whales' game now. We can blame Dogecoin's rise back in 2021 for the current state of the crypto market. It brought along a lot of "useless junk" only meant to enrich developers and whales. The average trader/investor will ultimately get "rekt" as prices go all the way down the drain in an instant.

If you're smart, you'd invest in a coin with active development and innovation. One that isn't driven by hype, but rather concrete results (real use cases). Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and BNB are one of the few coins that meet such description. Time will tell whenever many of the "meme" coins we see now will survive or end up being history. The former is most likely to happen, leaving us with Dogecoin as the sole survivor. Who knows what will be the next big thing in crypto? Cheesy
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: zcash, pirate chain, monero, prcy, which is the best coin for future of privacy? on: January 21, 2024, 05:12:25 PM
ZK-Snarks with Privacy by default with no transparency is what zcash devs dream of at night, but they cannot do it for obvious reasons... Paid devs never do what they want like passionate pirate devs...  they depend on a paycheck, they dont get the freedom to build what they want when they want...

Monero... Old but aged well... its dominance comes from its large network (not its algo... as the algo is not at its best today imho.)  and that can change fast in crypto even though monero has been trying hard to keep up, but we all know they will have to switch to zk eventually..... Also I went to a monero meetup in nyc/cakewallet/monerotopia/blabla and all they spoke about was defi crap. tokens, masternodes, liquidity pools... needless to say as a lifetime pirate..  very disappointing as I want to be talking about tech that can free us from tyranny like Reticulum...  true p2sh atomic swap, zkp innovations, FREE MARKETS!!!  anyway i get very passionate about this cause if you been here as long as I have, the landscape has changed and the tech people talk about looks really really immature to me..

PRCY --> Definitely a step better , I love justin from PRCY Coin, great dev and I hope he is the one who brings monero's tech to the next level as he already has with 32 rings... as we know this code is under attack from corps like ciphertrce so any security/strength enhancements now for randomx/rinct is very important and should have been done on moneros end yesterday imho....  I wanna see 128+ rings.....   but still older algo than the new ZKP stuff as the security is not just a game of shuffling. All the new tech is ZKP for good reasons these days, polygon as well forging the tech even though it aint private

Keep in mind we need all of them as REDUNDANCY in Privacy Tech....  is important. Just as redundancy is important to any corporate data center....

Each privacy coin has its own advantage from the other. But none of them is perfect. True privacy coins are those who enforce privacy by default. Not only that, but they also prioritize decentralization/censorship-resistance above all else.

I think Monero will end up being the sole privacy coin in crypto land, as the rest fade away into oblivion. There's so much regulatory pressure that's hard for any privacy-oriented cryptocurrency project to survive it. After all, governments don't want people to experience true privacy and financial freedom. You can see why privacy coins are a very small minority compared to the rest of the other coins on the market. Even developers aren't interested in launching new privacy coins these days. Who knows what will happen in the future? Grin
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Surge in Meme Coins on: January 21, 2024, 05:01:00 PM
The surge in meme coins has been wild, right? It's crazy how these coins like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and SafeMoon have gained so much attention and popularity. People are jumping on the meme coin bandwagon, hoping to catch the next big wave. But it's also important to be cautious and do your research before investing in these coins. The market can be quite volatile, and meme coins can be particularly risky. What are your thoughts on this whole meme coin frenzy?

The "meme" coin craze is one that will quickly fade away into oblivion. After all, such coins don't hold any real value or purpose in the real world. It's just speculation. People missed the Dogecoin train and now they want to buy similar coins with the hopes of getting rich quick. But that's not the way it works. We can never tell which of the zillions of "meme" coins available on the market will be the next one to "pump" all the way to the moon. Any coin can randomly experience a surge in price because of many reasons (including but not limited to a celebrity endorsing a coin or even the launch of an airdrop).

Getting into "meme" coins would be nothing more than getting into gambling, imho. Just because Elon Musk endorsed Dogecoin, doesn't mean it's worth the long-term investment. People are foolish enough to invest in something driven by hype than solid, concrete results (real use cases). Who knows if most (if not all) "meme" coins will go all the way to $0 soon? Cheesy
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The next trending storyline in DeFi might be RWA on: January 21, 2024, 04:55:42 PM
Honestly, the community has been dealing with that problem of scaling and how many years has it been? It seems that even with that problem. And with the RWAs, we always get something new from the market and compared to NFTs, this is way better if utilized that much.
But after this, I think that we'll get to see another one again or we might see the recycle model of these projects coming from ICO/IEO/STOs. Who knows.

When there's hype, you can expect even "dead projects" to come back to life. Scaling would not be an issue if there's money to be made. Whales are the ones who dictate the rules of the game. Whereas now NFTs are popular, tomorrow they will be forgotten as people move on to the next big thing in crypto. RWAs, SBTs, and even AI-based tokens will take the crypto world by storm.

The craze will never end to be honest. You'd need to take advantage of the opportunity when it strikes to profit in return. As long as you don't spend everything you have into these risky digital assets, there should be nothing to worry about. Wink
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You trust Tether (USDT) Stablecoin? on: January 21, 2024, 04:48:21 PM
Yes, I believe in USDT, even though there are so many rumors that say USDT doesn't have a real dollar backup and say USDT is controlled by terrorists and the like, but because the stable coin is the earliest and most widely used, USDT still exists today.

The thing is Tether is working with US law enforcement agencies (FBI, DOJ) to deter criminal activity. It's a good sign that the stablecoin won't be going anywhere soon. The more Tether works with regulators, the better. What troubles me is Tether's malpractice of printing more USDT like there's no tomorrow. If it's able to back the stablecoin with real USD reserves, there should be nothing to worry about.

Be aware that a USDT collapse would be completely disastrous for the crypto market. After all, lots of cryptocurrencies are tied to USDT's liquidity. The downfall will be severe, albeit temporary as the market will recover at a slow and steady pace. We can't predict the future, so lets hope for the best. Grin
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will FTT token everly hit it ATH again? on: January 21, 2024, 04:45:54 PM
That doesn't mean he would have meant FTT, but the other assets the FTX holded. Because it's wiser for them to sell them via over-the-counter market, rather then dumping them to buy walls and crash the market even more.

It wouldn't even make any sense for any company to buy FTT as it was an ftx token and has no use case for anyone else. It would just be a token with a tainted and shady reputation. It doesn't make any sense for anyone buying that up. Even if someone wanted to rebrand FTX under a new name, buying ftt because of it would be equivalent to throwing money in a fire pit. It serves no one but a fire.

The new company might make a "burn program" for FTT holders to "burn" their tokens in exchange for a new one. If they don't, then holders will be "rekt" in the long run. It's not worth buying this token because of the huge risk of loss. People just want to speculate on it with the hopes of making money in the long run. It's a "free market", so who are we to blame?

I think FTX will pass onto history as the worst crypto exchange ever. If Mt, Gox didn't make a comeback, what makes people think FTX will? Hopefully, this would be the last time a crypto exchange of a large scale collapses in its entirety. With regulators weighing in, investors/traders can feel confident their funds will be safe no matter what. Just my opinion Smiley

395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will FTT token everly hit it ATH again? on: January 19, 2024, 09:40:26 PM
even if the exchange make comeback there's no guarantee that they would use their old ftt token anyway, they could just abandon it altogether, there's really reason to invest in this coin these days, too much uncertainty for a coin to invest, and the condition of this coin is more on the negative sides.
the ftx comeback is definitely still something that is uncertain as well as you said, yes there are news that they gonna be making some reimbursement toward the people that has lost their coin in the ftx collapse but even that is also have so many dramas i doubt that everything will go smooth and especially this token ftt gonna get easily recover to its all time high again.
let alone all time high, i even doubt it could get to more than half of its all time high, overall worst coin to invest these days.

The FTX team should've burnt all of the FTT tokens to shut it down for good. But not doing so, tells us that they're planning something "behind the scenes". I've read online that former NYSE president hinted the possibility of buying all of FTX's assets. The exchange could resurrect under the management of the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange). But all of this is speculation, of course. It may or may not happen in the future, leaving many FTT holders "holding the bag" (bagholder).

BNB is a much safer bet, in my own opinion. Crypto land often behaves in many strange and bizarre ways, so expect the unexpected. Wink
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about filecoin? on: January 19, 2024, 09:36:24 PM
This Filecoin, thread was discussed in 2022, and it has been resurrected today, so I think that if it's still discussed today then it could still have relevance, although I've not researched it, but if it's price is still in dip, then it's ok for it's investors to still be hopeful of it to pump. Remember that Solana, dipped quite low and it's investors kept holding until late last year when it made a big comeback, so if a crypto is not a shitcoin, then it'll surely pump again despite how long it stays on the low.

No coin is dead if the Blockchain is up and running. What only dies is mainstream demand/interest from investors and traders alike. I've seen "dead coins" rise from the ground up after the hype. Filecoin may not be as widely used as other coins, but it's still a good alternative against existing centralized cloud storage platforms. It can compete with Amazon, Google, and Dropbox if the community turns it into a "force to reckon with".

What the project needs is a strong marketing/promotion strategy to help drive demand for the coin across mainstream crypto exchanges. Hopefully, Filecoin would be able to stand the test of time alongside other projects such as Sia, and Storj. We can't predict the future, so lets hope for the best. Wink
397  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 19, 2024, 09:32:07 PM
That is what the extra money coming into the market will be like, we already have most of the youth already getting acquainted with bitcoin anyway, we need some of that old money that goes into stocks to start going into bitcoin as well.

When Blackrock has their ETF, they will push to sell it to everyone, and considering they have all the elites money with them, trillions, they could spare just a few dozen billions into bitcoin which would be insane investment overall and we would go up. They are not going to buy bitcoin themselves, that 78 year old with a billion in the bank? They ain't ever putting that into bitcoin, BUT they could put some of it at Blackrocks ETF, which they will use to buy more bitcoins to cover it and it all helps us.

BlackRock has a lot of money at its disposal to "pump" Bitcoin's price all the way to "Mars". What's happening now is the "buy the rumor, sell the news" event. It's all manipulation to "dump" market prices and buy BTC at a bargain. Do not underestimate these giant institutional investment companies (BlackRock, Fidelity, Franlkin Templeton, etc). Just wait until the halving comes in, and BTC will never go back below $40k ever again. People just want quick results with their Bitcoin investment. But that's not the way it works.

You need to have "diamond hands" to be able to succeed in crypto. No matter the FUD, you can rest assured Bitcoin won't be going anywhere soon. Maybe it will go as far as replacing Fiat (or even Gold) in the future? Just my opinion Smiley
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 19, 2024, 09:25:02 PM
Grin is surely still a thing.

But unfortunately, gamblers estimating projects in terms of hype and money making (or loosing) not in terms of tech innovations, though it's hard to understand for non techy people which project is truly innovative among the ocean of shitcoins and scam coins.

Grin is the only altcoin which adds something interesting to Bitcoin and complements it, without sacrificing on security or decentralization.

Grin adds enhanced privacy and more scalable blockchain comparing to Bitcoin, with the tradeoffs of interactive transactions and non auditable coin supply (though the cryptography verifies no extra coins minted).

Grin itself is innovative and doesn't need to hype around adding new "features" just to satisfy gambling behavior of the masses.

The development is still ongoing, AFAIK, the most interesting feature is mwixnet, which is going to break linkability in transactions graph and put Grin into the fully privacy coins league, competing with Monero.

But the most exciting feature of Grin coin is ONE GRIN PER SECOND FOREVER. The most fair launch, without early users advantage, same distribution rate for all no matter when you joined the network. Even Bitcoin can't compete with that. The more time past, the more Grin become valuable due to fair distribution.

I guess development for the project is still happening behind the scenes. I like GRIN because it's not an overhyped project like Ethereum and Solana. Perhaps, that's the reason why market prices haven't been rising that much lately. If the network stays alive, there would be nothing to worry about. Decentralization is all that matters for GRIN to be able to stand the test of time.

I hope GRIN stays a PoW coin forever. After all, PoW is becoming a rarity these days. We should expect further de-listings for GRIN because of its privacy features. Maybe it will end up being traded at DEXs and P2P exchanges in the long run? No one can predict the future, so lets hope for the best. Grin
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Attack on Bitcoin’ Claims Circulate as Transaction Fees Climb Higher on: January 19, 2024, 09:19:06 PM
All these conspiracy theory type of things do not really phase me, I do not believe them. I have been involved with crypto for nearly ten years, and I can tell you that I have heard it all, from FBI trying to stop it to governments trying to block it to many other things, none of that ever came true, media tries sometimes but media is not just one place, some try to kill it while others promote it as well.

So all in all, I think it should be considered fine, we can't really make it work any other way, it just doesn't feel like it could be all that much terrible. I hope that people could realize that nobody is attacking, we are growing, we are as high as possible, it is 40k+ dollars per bitcoin, nothing that gets an attack could grow this well.

One can never know the true intentions of the government. BTC has been soaring in price despite the rising fees, anyways. Miners are the ones who're winning, while the "attacker" is losing big time. It will all fade away after the hype comes to an end. We just need to be patient.

It's a good thing we're not limited to a single cryptocurrency for day-to-day payments. With plenty of altcoins to choose from, we can save money on fees. There's also Bitcoin's Lightning Network (although still experimental) for those who don't want to abandon the premier cryptocurrency. Whenever governments like it or not, Bitcoin will be here to stay for a long time. After all, it's the future of money. As long as it stays decentralized, there should be nothing to worry about. Smiley
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anyone else know there is an Insured BTC wallet? on: January 18, 2024, 08:30:07 PM
I just found this place, it says it's insured up to $50,000. It's just astonishing that after all this time this is the first place that does that. Called bankofblockchain.us Insured against hacks, why isn't this a standard for pete's sake. I just feel everyone needs to know this.

If it's not insured by the government, it's not safe. Banks in the US are usually insured by the FDIC (a federal government agency) up to $250k. Why should you trust a shady company with your BTC? You're better off writing the seed on a piece of paper a paper and keep it in a safe deposit box at your local bank. Your coins will be safe for years on end.

With how popular BTC has become lately, one needs to be very cautious not to fall for scams. The website you've mentioned looks very shady, by the way. Even the copyright year at the footer of the page isn't updated. You know the drill, right?   Roll Eyes
