First time hearing of Telegram. Anyone care to kindly explain what it is to a complete noob like myself? Thanks in advance.
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Limits of divisibility? on: June 26, 2017, 07:29:25 PM
The thing I don't understand is with transaction fees rising, what will be the minimum feasible transaction amount compared to today (where debit fees are roughly $0.25, for example)?

People are currently paying $5+ per transaction for amounts under $100 in some cases. This is absolutely ludicrous...
503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to store bitcoin for long term? on: June 26, 2017, 07:22:49 PM
There are YouTube videos which explain clearly how to make a paper wallet. I am guessing this is what you want based on your post. This is by far the safest method of storing your Bitcoin, and I highly recommend it if that is your intention. Best of luck!
504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the biggest disadvantages of Bitcoin? on: June 26, 2017, 07:16:58 PM
Currently, transaction fees are way too high, transaction processing time also.
505  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Will quantum computing kill crypto? on: June 26, 2017, 04:48:14 PM
It is crazy just how many things scientists have considered "impossible", only for them to be achieved sometimes centuries earlier than predicted. One recent example is AlphaGO. With that said, I wouldn't put anything past the realm of possibility, but with the amount of money invested in Bitcoin globally it is unlikely that if this were to happen we wouldn't find a solution.
506  Other / Off-topic / Re: Manage your bitcoins on: June 26, 2017, 04:43:22 PM
A generally secure way of managing Bitcoins is to download a wallet like MultiBT. This allows you full control, essentially, as opposed to keeping them on an exchange which could shut down at any moment (like Cryptsy).

However, the ultimate solution is to use a paper wallet. Basically, this means you put your Bitcoins onto a piece of paper just like cash. If you lose the paper, you can NEVER get them back - so make sure to keep it safe by laminating it, and storing it somewhere you will remember & no one else has access to but you.

Hope this helps.

This is actually a great question which I hadn't thought much about. Personally, I have no clue how my family would access my BTC if I were to die. I also do't know how I would access my family's btc either... better figure it out. Thanks for the reminder, by the way!
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've decided to share my knowledge and would greatly appreciate your thoughts on: June 24, 2017, 06:24:00 PM
Cool man. I have made lots of websites. The most important factor in having a successful blog is definitely SEO. Don't underestimate this, otherwise you will spend a lot more time working than you would otherwise. Best of luck!
509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High school dropout who invested in bitcoin is now a millionaire at 18 on: June 23, 2017, 09:15:42 PM
I just read this today (on Reddit). The way I see it is his parents likely told him to take the Bitcoin and avoid getting involved with taxes, or paying them altogether. The 300 BTC was worth $65,000-70,000 at the time (he said just over $200) which means he saves the cost of paying accountants, not to mention buying Bitcoin in general can be a hassle.

I actually find it reasonable considering he actually got $65,000 instead of $100,000... so it isn't like he stole the tax, but rather avoided it. However, $1,000,000 really isn't so much in today's world so hopefully he has a plan to grow it otherwise he may end up broke in no time.
510  Economy / Speculation / Re: What determines the cost of bitcoins? on: June 23, 2017, 09:04:40 PM
The most significant determinent of Bitcoin value is the ability to use them - whether online, or in real life. The more business that accept it, the more awareness, therefore demand, and the price rises. Since 2013, Bitcoin has spread worldwide... albeit to a small amount relative the the population, but significant nonetheless. This is why the current price is $2,700. As it grows, more people learn about it and want to buy, the price will continue to rise.
511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you store >100 Bitcoins? on: June 23, 2017, 08:58:12 PM
Create a paper wallet for each 5 Bitcoins. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to lose your BTC, if you do it right. Store them in safe deposit boxes, hidden safes in your house (you can buy small, portable safes also). Get high-quality, 24/7 security cameras monitoring outside for intruders, a foolproof alarm system... these are standard in many homes anyways, so it isn't like people will know how much money you have. Also consider laminating the paper to protect against natural decay or random accidents, such as spilling water, juice, rain, cooking... you get the point. All in all, if you do this you should be safe enough from hacking.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the ticket to heaven ... on: June 23, 2017, 08:43:20 PM
It is a scientifically proven fact that people who make $75,000+ per year are essentially as happy as those who make millions or billions. Why? People who are ultra rich also work 24 hours a day, 7 days a wekk whereas those who make $75,000 can afford to pay their bills and everything else, but also have lots of free time to spend with their family, friends and themselves.
513  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I want to invest in BTC should i do it now or wait til after August 1st? on: June 23, 2017, 08:34:30 PM
I advise you to buy now. There have always been disputes regarding whether it is a good idea to buy Bitcoin now, or wait until _______ date, as long as I have known about Bitcoin (since 2013). With that said, The price likely will drop sooner or later as we are in a big bubble - so it might be wise for you to wait a bit until the dust settles.

Thanks, but not able to connect my miner. Will try later.

Have you change your miner settings?
Yes, everything what is written on getting started page.
Well as it looks still the same problem as last time.

Same here, what is with this coin?
Someone does not like this coin.

I'd say quite a few someone's don't like this coin, actually.  Grin It's seen nothing but trouble for me, and I am sure quite a few others. ypool is down again, and bazco, well, don't get me started.  Angry All I can say on that is barrysty1e, when I Dox you, be prepared for an arsekicking. lol. Meh, I won't carry it that far over just a few WGC, I'll just curse the firstborn of all of your generations from now until Bernie Sanders becomes president. (mind you, that could be a VERY long time)  Cheesy

It is sad, why do they do such a thing? Well I was wondering, would it be possible to send informations about the pool over OM only to those who you know are not killing it?
Not sure I follow what you're asking. Are you saying PM people that you trust a known working pool? Sorry, I've been up now going on two days straight trying out some new trading techniques, and needless to say, my lucidity is over par at the moment.

  James,
Thanks for providing a WGC pool that has been consistent, and is not rife with the DDOS attacks that have been carried out. I have sent you a PM whenever you get a chance to read it. Thanks again.

520  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] [PEEP COIN] GUARANTEED VALUE - FREE ICO!!! on: August 06, 2016, 12:59:53 AM
Come on people this is a free distribution coin. If I am the Dev I will prevent people with free coins to sell for three months. There is no way for this project to grow if over 30% of coin supply expected to dump at the first day at the exchange.

Let 'em sell. Maybe we can get rid of the weak hands sooner rather than later, and then we can enjoy the ride. There's always going to be more dumpers than hodlers in the first stages of a successful coin launch. It'll balance out hopefully, and then the dumpers will be crying over the opportunity that they missed.
