I keep all of the coins I mine, I expect them to increase in value dramatically next year with the halving. If I need to purchase something with btc I'll buy some outright, then use that for the purchase.

Is it true Eric that the interest rate for the Wallet will be lowered to 3% from the current 6% on January 4?
I guess the reason but it would be nice to hear a justification from the company if it's true and possible of course.
Where did you see this reported? Usually Eric shares that type of information here first. That would be a bummer if it was true.

there is no doubt in my mind that power on and power off at a massive scale is happening.
Seems to me to be a lot more "power on" than off. A 10%+ adjustment at this point is almost insane - the increase is the value of the entire network like 18 months ago. I can't believe there is still so much gear out there coming online...

I am using an R1 to control my U3, it has custom firmware by Crazyguy to reset the U3 and stop it from zombie. Whenever this U3 reset happens the stats in CG "freeze" unless I click the dashboard button again to refresh all the panels. Not sure if this is an issue that is addressable, but thought I would mention it anyway.

I was recently told by a guy who knows a guy in the NSA that they cannot crack Bitcoin.
Oh, a guy who knows a guy, he is the foremost authority on all things that go on inside the NSA! He knows all about 9/11, too.

One of my miners failed over to the German pool yesterday, I'm not sure if it was because of the various ddos attacks or for some other reason, but generally things have seemed pretty smooth from the end user perspective, thanks, ck!

I thought people were well off with their S5 purchases, S5 were sold more than their purchase price not so long ago on eBay plus the BTC earned.
Yes. The S5's were winners. they still are winners since people in my area are selling them for over 500$.. which is like 150$ more than i paid for mine new :/ Yup, I wished I picked up an S5 or two months ago when they were cheap used. Even the S3s are expensive used now! Hell, I bet I could sell my S1 for more than I paid for it a year ago.

My U3 that was pointed to donation has decided it would like to stop hashing for a bit, so my donation hash is down a bit for a while. {"hashrate1m": "15.6G", "hashrate5m": "14G", "hashrate1hr": "13.3G", "hashrate1d": "27.4G", "hashrate7d": "39.7G", "lastupdate": 1451199470, "shares": 66546681, "bestshare": 849413.07535864576, "bestever": 75293537}

Most of China does not celebrate christmas, right? So that holiday wouldn't be expected to have any effect on the big mining farms I guess. Still another impressive jump, because 10% network growth again is a lot of machines coming on line at this point.

+10.7 = Mikestang
I wonder how long we will go with the new .1 guess system before someone wins?
Phil, did you come up with a roll-over scenario? I think we need to cap the prize at some point (my suggestion was 1 roll over, 0.2btc max reward, then reset it) or the prize becomes too much for a "fun" game and starts attracting less savory types...

It's not just blockchain, I use bitcoin core for my wallet and fees have gone up dramatically with each new version. I send the same amount to my investment account periodically and the tx fee for that has increased 10x since earlier this year. This biggest jump came from the "stress test"/low tx fee spam attack a while back.

Crazyguy, are you aware of this issue? Does your firmware address it, or is it something that can even be addressed via firmware? Thanks. the cgminer bundled with the R1 has a memory leak..
Wed Dec 23 16:45:26 2015 kern.err kernel: [239052.260000] Out of memory: Kill process 1158 (cgminer) score 693 or sacrifice child Wed Dec 23 16:45:26 2015 kern.err kernel: [239052.260000] Killed process 1158 (cgminer) total-vm:72348kB, anon-rss:44264kB, file-rss:0kB
it will eventually cause a crash with the r1.
unfortunately without the source code for the antrouter driver it cant be updated.

You can use the "failover-only" arg:
You only need that if you want to STOP the miner from failing over in the case of a laggy primary pool, it is not necessary otherwise. You can change the management strategy from within cgminer itself.
|
|
|
You just add the pools in order you want them to be used. You need a password to start with, what you posted did not have one: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.hedgy73stick -p x --compac-freq 300 --suggest-diff 50 Then add the german site: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.hedgy73stick -p x -o stratum+tcp://de.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.hedgy73stick -p x --compac-freq 300 --suggest-diff 50 If you use mining monitoring software you need to add the api stuff in so it can talk to the stick: cgminer --api-listen --api-allow W:{IP address of miner} --api-port {port number} -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.hedgy73stick -p x -o stratum+tcp://de.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.hedgy73stick -p x --compac-freq 300 --suggest-diff 50 Default api port is 4028, but you can set it to whatever.

I think the 92G difficulty is scarring everyone and so we're seeing things slow down a bit. I know it scares me when I look at it in my mining software...
to follow up if we do 10% vs 15% 93 102.3 112.53 123.78 on feb 1 or so this is much lower then 142 I do not believe there is enough hardware still out there to support jumps as high as you are speculating. My feeling is this is the last big push before the halving, they will ROI this new gear just in time, but we won't see hundreds of PH added in the next jumps. Remember when diff adjusted down earlier this summer? Man, those were the days...

You are still at default voltage and frequency. Try bumping up the freq and volt as mentioned above (250 / 800 is good for most people). Also, use the [ code ] tag for your cgminer cut/paste or the forum does things with the [] commands. It is also helpful to do widescreen display so we can see accepted shares and HW errors. cgminer version 4.9.2 - Started: [2015-12-23 15:03:51] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (5s):18.52G (1m):15.10G (5m):7.618G (15m):3.170G (avg):13.12Gh/s A:510 R:45 HW:81 WU:164.4/m Connected to uk1.ghash.io diff 15 with stratum as user Block: 81a31b5d... I have solo.ck as my primary and the de address as my failover now, so my sticks should be back on the solo address (I haven't checked) since that is my pool 0.

Dude puts in a lot of time and effort for his customers.
You both put in a lot of time for your customers which is why I have spent money with both of you. Plus the gear you both sell is top notch, so you'd be a fool not to support it! Same goes for mining software, I've sent tips to folk like ck, kano, luke-jr, cryptoglance, etc. because they put in a ton of work for software that is free!

I got the adapter with my R1 from Crazyguy, but only because it stands the R1 off my power strip and allows me access the the adjacent plug.
